Great night on the patio. Wonderful neighborhood spot on "The Hill" in Grosse Pointe Farms. We had bruschetta, Minestrone, White Fish, & Tagliatelle Bolognese with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc (okay, maybe 2). Service was friendly & food was good.

Small place inside. 9 tables and about 8 bar stools in here, it's quite cozy and cramped in here. Started off with escargot, sautéed mushrooms, lasagna alla Bolognese, chicken Marsala, eggplant Parmesan and sautéed lake Perch. $154+ Service was okay. The bread was good. The escargot comes with sautéed mushrooms. It was good, sauce that came with it was good for dipping the bread in as well. Even my step-dad tried for three escargot for the first time and liked it. Minestrone and the side salads were okay. The side of blue cheese is $1.50 extra, no wonder mom didn't get it on her salad. The shared sautéed mushroom was good. The perch was lighted breaded, wasn't expecting that, since it was sautéed. It was okay. The lasagne was good, different, but smaller and a lot of sauce. The chicken Marsala was good for my step-dad. I tried some, it wasn't too bad. My mother's eggplant was good, nice and light breading. Small eggplant cuts.

Cafe Nini is located on Kercheval in Grosse Pointe. A 10 table establishment with a few more tables outside and food that will not disappoint. I was promptly seated upon entering after being asked if I had a reservation, which I did not. The establishment was bustling with people and somewhat loud from all the over zealous talkers. Some patrons were almost obnoxiously loud with foul language to boot. Keep it classy Grosse Pointe, this isn't Detroit. Our waitress was helpful and friendly and recommended the crispy zucchini and the branzino. The crispy zucchini was delicious. Hands down the best I've ever had. Great crunch and a delicious flavor profile. The branzino came hot and flaky and also had a wonderful flavor and was not over cooked. Once I devoured the fish, I had some tiramisu and also a chicken parm to go. The tiramisu was the low point of the dinner, it wasn't the best in my opinion, however, it was fine. Overall I would definitely eat at Cafe Nini again: I would probably go in later when it isn't so busy, however the busyness didn't affect the service. It was some of the classless patrons that would keep me from coming back during busy hours.

Pricey but the food is really good so it was worth it. Service was incredibly slow when I went but it didn't seem like that was the norm.

Tables are too close together so noise level high. Gift certificate misleading. Food mediocre; not worth price. Server blah.

My donut choices were plain (2), cinnamon sugar, chocolate glazed, key lime, and maple. The best donut was the classic chocolate. It was fluffy and rich. The maple was an employee recommendation that I wouldn't get again because the glaze was cracked and fell off. The key lime donut's filling tasted artificial. These 2 donuts wouldn't stop me from going back because the other flavors were good. They have both traditional donuts and more fun flavors. My husband was a big fan of the plain donut. The biggest downside was that I couldn't drink the latte. It was made scalding hot, bordering unsafe. I could feel in my hand that it was too hot to drink and would have burned my mouth. Even by the time I got home after a 10 minute drive, it was still too hot to drink. This cafe is owned by the same people that run the diner next door, and I hate to give a review that could cause others to avoid it. I plan to go back again and hopefully can get a better all around experience for a higher review.

My dad ordered a top shelf Long Island that the server forgot about then brought it and it was $47. He asked about the price and she said he was double charged so it would be $36. $37 for a top shelf Long Island is ridiculous for this type of establishment. At the same time I asked for a water that I never got and the smart remark about not having any water with her when she dropped off the drink was unnecessary. Then I go to the bar to get a water and three of the 5 bar tenders/servers are doing something on their phone, talking or texting. For a place that includes gratuity that's absolutely unacceptable that I have to wait until you're done with your phone for service and still tip! The vibe of the place is nice and I would highly recommend as long as you don't need any service. As someone who worked in the service industry I'm all for included gratuity but the work gotta match the top notch tip that's included.

I went with some friends yesterday for lunch/coffee date. This is a local place owned by two friends, and the whole place is just fantastic. They have a whole bunch of different lunch menu items to order, and they come with a side of homemade coleslaw, chips, and a very tangy pickle. I loved the pickle. I had ordered the Tree Hugger without olives, because let's be real, olives are gross, on a whole wheat wrap. The wrap also had their green goddess dressing, and the entire wrap was absolutely delicious, minus the olives. I had also ordered an iced matcha tea latte with almond milk to go. Iced drinks only come in one size, but it was really good too. What a great, quaint, quiet spot in the middle of Riverside to have a nice lunch with friends, or go out on a date, or just have a coffee. We were celebrating a birthday, so we decided to pull out all the stops -- and I'm really glad we did. I'll say right up front that the prices are a little higher than what I would normally spend on a meal, but honestly, it was absolutely worth it. They started us off with garlic bread that was incredibly delicious, and from there the experience only got better. Our server, Andrew, was fantastic. He mentioned that they might have been a little short-handed and apologized that he felt he couldn't be as attentive as he normally would be, but honestly, we never would have known. He did an excellent job keeping our water glasses full and making sure we were taken care of throughout the evening. At our table, we ordered the Chicken al Pastaio, Spaghetti Carbonara, Gnocchi Romana, and I had the Chicken Parmigiano. Every dish was excellent. I sampled a few bites from the other plates and genuinely enjoyed all of them. The real highlight for me, though, was the Beggar's Purse appetizer. It was pasta filled with goat cheese and pear, and it was absolutely divine. I can completely understand why they also offer it as a main course because I could have happily eaten an entire plate of it. For dessert, we shared cheesecake and tiramisu. The cheesecake was more traditional than what you'd typically get at places like The Cheesecake Factory, which caught me a little off guard at first, but it was still excellent. The tiramisu was also delicious, and we all got a good laugh when one of our guests accidentally inhaled a little cocoa powder off the top and started coughing and sneezing at the table. It honestly just added to the fun of the evening. At the end of the night, nothing we ordered disappointed, the service was wonderful, and it turned out to be a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. We'll definitely be back.
