We have been eating here since they first opened their doors, literally. The food and service have always been great. However, our takeout experience on November 14, 2025, was horrible. We ordered two Pasta Frescas, one Pasta del Estate with shrimp, and one Chicken Cacciatore. The portion size of the two Pasta Frescas was embarrassingly small (see photos - I apologize for the messy desk). When I opened the containers and saw the portion size, I called the restaurant to inquire. The young lady who answered the phone was incredibly rude, defensive, and disrespectful. She told me that they now have larger to-go containers, so it just appears that the portion sizes are smaller. In addition, she also stated that the portion sizes are pre-measured. I told her that I have been ordering the Pasta Fresca since the restaurant opened, and this is the smallest portion size I have ever received, regardless of the size of the to-go container. I was very nice to her, despite her rudeness. After about two minutes into the call she said to me, "...we're very busy, and I don't have all day to spend on the phone with you." I then asked if I could speak with a manager, and she said, "...that's not necessary..." I then requested to speak with Armando, then she put me on hold, came back on the phone, and said that I could not speak with Armando, and that the owner would be calling me. It is now December 20, 2025, and I have yet to hear from the owner, or any other representative of the restaurant, for that matter. The Pasta Fresca is priced at $15.95. A pound of dry pasta can be purchased for $1.00. These portions contained about 1/4 pound of pasta. In addition, the vegetables in these dishes barely cost $1.50 each. The margins on these portions is obscene. The least they could do is add a little more pasta, which is dirt cheap. I understand and appreciate that restaurants, like every business, exist to make money. However, restaurants only make money when they have customers. When customers are happy, they keep coming back and spending money. That being said, after eating here since the doors opened, we will not be coming back, and this is so incredibly disappointing and sad. I was so hopeful that the restaurant would have made this right with me, but they failed to do so. read more

I've been missing out. Salvatore Scallopini is just two minutes from mom's. I'll be back. it's got nice atmosphere. Quick service. Maybe a little too quick but they keep things running smooth with good grace. Place was full by 5 pm on a Sunday. Plan accordingly. The food is really good, plenty and reasonably priced. Salvatore Scallopini is a true gem. High quality food at a reasonable price point. I had the Veal Piccata...nice-sized portion with five medallions of veal in a great sauce. Excellent house salad or a soup comes beforehand; the creamy Romano dressing is terrific. The bread is fresh and the dipping sauce is awesome. My entree also came with a side of penne with a great marinara sauce. Full bar and nice wine list. Friendly service. I really like this place. Two of us arrived around 6:00 pm on a Wednesday, it was busy. We could wait about 15 minutes for a table or sit at the bar. We chose some bar seats. What is nice about sitting there is that you can watch the chefs prepare lots of meals, chat with other couples and if you need anything the bartender is always available to take your orders. I enjoy the fresh bread and olive oil which they automatically bring you when you sit down. I ordered the Pinot Noir which was my favorite Meiomi brand. For dinner I ordered fish Milanese with the garlic sauce. It is served with very fresh green beans and a side of pasta. It is so delicious, I order it almost every time I eat here. I have also ordered lasagna and chicken Parmesan in the past. I love the atmosphere here compared to other Italian restaurants in the area. Recently, I booked a luncheon for a small gathering after my mother's funeral. I had met with Paulo prior, picked out a small menu, and told him my expectations. We had about 25/30 guests. The area was set up upon arrival with water, bread, and dipping oil. The staff was incredible! Jordon was one of our servers and unfortunantly cannot remember the other servers name. This was my first time here and it was great. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful and super chill. The service was amaze balls. The food.. delicious Now I was only going in for a drink and ordered a glass of rosè. I decided to get calamari and it was delicious! It wasn't rubbery at all! Crisp rings throughout! The bread was soft and delicious too! I forget the name of the sauce brought out with the bread as it wasn't regular marinara sauce but it had a slight kick to it. The marinara sauce that came out with the calamari was perfect. It wasn't saucy and salty like other Italian restaurants can be. My server, Emily was a sweetheart. A pure sweetheart. She had other tables and checked on me constantly. I didn't feel left out as I was sitting at the bar alone. We even had a girl chat about Law & Order! I went to pay for my food and Emily let me know another patron already covered my bill. I was having a bad day and had been super emotional about it. These two women made my day. Our favorite Italian restaurant by far! The most unique Minestrone soup you'll find! We discovered this wonderful location by our friend's house and couldn't wait to go in and try it to see if it was like the other locations. We weren't disappointed! Their Minestrone soup is somethin else. It's really thick and creamy and it makes you not want to have it any other way at other restaurants, so be cautious that Salvatore will "ruin" your ability to have Minestrone anywhere else. The pasta dish I always get at Salvatore is the Pasta Pollo Divano (no mushrooms). Their white sauce is really delicious, and it pairs with the thin noodles and thinly sliced chicken as well. They typically bring out some bread and sauce and/or olive oil to dip in. Their bread is really filling as well. For our most recent experience, we had an espresso at the end of our meal. It definitely got us buzzing for the rest of the evening! It's a pretty popular restaurant, so if you're going in the evening, expect a bit of a wait if you don't have a reservation. Terrible execution. They used CHUCKS of garlic that were burnt and dry instead of thin slices that should melt in your mouth. The pasta was served DRY when it should be just the opposite. Ordered mussels with marinara sauce, eggplant Parmesan, village salad sans Gorgonzola, grilled salmon salad sans Gorgonzola cheese and two salmone del estate sans Pasta. I ended up with double green beans. The mussels were good with the spicy marinara sauce. Forgot to take pictures of the mussels, we scarfed it down quick. The house salads were all decent. The salmons were nicely cooked. The green beans were perfectly cooked, but the double amount was too much for me. The eggplant Parmesan was okay, mom said it wasn't as cheesy as she would like liked, but it was still good. The grilled salmon salad wasn't bad. Blackened mitt have been a better choice. Exceptional Friday night dinner location. I've been to this restaurant 10+ times over the past 3 years. It's on the smaller side for a dining venue, but it is an intimate setting which makes it phenomenal. There is a very welcoming "family kitchen" ambiance. It does tend to get quite busy around 6:30pm but the food it worth any wait! Their waitstaff is always attentive and courteous I had the Pasta Pollo Pepperone and it was SENSATIONAL. There was a hefty amount of the red & green bell peppers and banana peppers which topped the al dente linguine noodles. The flavor was the perfect punch of spice. It's an oil and garlic sauce which allows the flavor of the peppers to really shine through. I look forward to dining here each time. read more

I ordered a carryout, pasta mezzogiorno, lasagna, and i asked if they have a kids menu, she confirmed they did and so i ordered a kids chicken tenders and fries. My sister said her lasagna was good. My pasta had like no seasoning or salt at all. The menu even says SPICY in capital letters for this item and it had no heat at all. The chicken on it was cooked nicely though but other than that, it was very bland. The "chicken fingers and fries" were so strange and unfortunately my 3 year old refused to eat it. It was like 1 big chicken patty cut into strips and the fries were actually chips with parmesan and parsley. First time to Salvatore Scallopini and it was wonderful. First the bread served is soft, fluffy with a nice crumbly crust, but the marinara dip is even better! A slight tang to it and garlic bite, which was nice. Both soups are very flavorful and the dinner salad looks great. I had the pasta pollo pepperone and it was spicy and flavorful. Add a bunch of parm to that and it is amazing! My daughter loved the salmon and my wife enjoyed her chicken tosco. The prices were good and the service was attentive and kept our water filled faithfully. We can't wait to come back. read more

Salvatore scallopini has become a gross point institution. It has a great lunch menu which is served quickly. Dinner service is also nice for a sit down meal. It has a family restaurant feel while having a full service bar. It's not too loud and usually the weight is not long for a table or a place at the bar for dinner. One nice thing about chain restaurants are the uniform standards for the menu and for meal preparation. The servings are more than adequate, and the servers are attentive. The menu is Italian fare and it is easy to swap out ingredients for the pasta. The Italian wedding soup is memorable as is the gnocchi served with Alfredo rather than the standard red meat sauce. The menu is broad enough for people trying to avoid carbs and those who prefer vegetables and salads. Like many restaurants along Mack Avenue, parking can be a little tight sometimes. be prepared to walk a block or so on busy nights. My boyfriend and I had dinner at Salvatore Scallopini on a weeknight. We got there around 6:45, and decided to sit on their patio. It's a very cute space. The only negative about the patio is that the chairs are not comfortable. The menu had several good options. They give you a bread basket when you sit down, which was delicious because the bread was very fresh. We choose to have calamari for an appetizer. It was excellent; cooked perfectly and the breading was nicely seasoned. The only thing I wish is that it would have come with lemon. For our entrees I ordered the Filetto Diana, and my date ordered the Lasagna. Both came with soup or salad. I chose the salad with creamy Romano dressing, and my boyfriend chose the minestrone soup. The salad was phenomenal - the dressing was so, so good and it was nice and fresh. My boyfriend said his soup was excellent. The entrees themselves were also excellent. They were delicious, flavorful, made with good quality ingredients, and hit the spot. We also ordered dessert; I ordered the tiramisu and he got the peach cobbler. The tiramisu was great - not too sweet and not too bitter. Basically it was a perfect blend. The peach cobbler was also delicious, it's served with ice cream and warm cobbler with the cold ice cream was yummy. The service was definitely not up to par, and is truly the reason that I am rating a 3 instead of a 4. We had to ask the hostess as well as other waitresses to fill our drinks because our waitress was nowhere to be found for most of our meal. When she was around, she attended to other tables and basically ignored us. Literally my water glass was sitting empty on the side of the table and she walked right by, multiple times. One of the other waitresses brought our appetizer. Our waitress didn't check on us once to see whether we liked the appetizer, or our soup or salad. When she delivered the soup and salad she just set the plate/bowl on the table and walked away immediately without saying a word. It really was kind of odd and turned us off of what was otherwise a really good meal. We both said we felt that she was inattentive because we stuck with water/pop and did not order alcohol. Overall the food was very good so we'll definitely return, but will probably consider carrying out instead of dining in. read more

This was our first sit down at any restaurant in many months. And we are still very new to Michigan and Grosse Pointe. Boy did we make a great choice, 5 Star Plus!! I love getting dinner with immediate family because we all like to share so I get to taste everything everyone else ordered too. Being the first time in ages that we weren't getting take out I had questions about a variety of menu options I was considering. I considered the eggplants Parmesan, the Salmon, and the Filletto Diana. I know, all very different, but thanks to friendly server Emily I decided on the Filletto Diana. This was perhaps the most delicious thing I've eaten so far in 2021. The medallions were cook perfectly! Tender, moist, and flavorful! The sauce was equally delicious Complimented it so well. The mushrooms were just the right consistency, not over OR undercooked cooked. I let others have a bite and they agreed wholeheartedly. The shrimp scampi over pasta was incredibly flavorful and the shrimp only slightly dry. The green beans were cooked just right, hit and tender yet still a little firm. The ravioli clearly took the most TLC in its homemade preparation and did not disappoint. The main dishes were enough to fill but we were so excited to be sitting in a restaurant so we splurged and got the deserts. My blueberry cobbler was filled with hot juicy berries with cobbler that retained some crunch with just the right amount of gooeyness we love about cobbler. Of course the ice cream was a perfect companion melting and cooling the hot to make it easier to eat without burning the tongue. The peach cobbler was equally delicious with hot soft peaches. The tiramisu was light and fluffy with just the right balance of coffee flavor. The cannoli was authentic and delightful and everyone had a bit to cap off our wonderful evening.
