Terrible Service, Abusive Manager.
We were with a party of 8 and the evening got off to a bad start for the group when the waitress couldn't explain what the food was made out of, used other food terms to describe the menu. Like Q: "what is Albondigas?" A: "It's like Estofado" - Oh OK. Anyway, I ordered a bottle of wine and was given a cheap, short wine glass - no big deal. But when the couple next to us ordered wine, they were given large proper goblets. When I jokingly said, "What am I, chopped liver and don't deserve a good glass?" (I was trying to make light of the request) she scowls at me, turns around and left to get the larger glass, comes back, places it down and no explanation. So our group laughs and the chatter is now; wow, she's not a happy person.
So, we received our first course (super tiny proportions BTW) and my wife had a hair in her food, I told her to say something, but she does not like confrontation and elected to just pass it off and set aside the balance of her plate. After I was done, I placed my fork on my plate to indicate I was finished, and when the waitress comes up to take away my plate, she takes my used fork off the plate and places it down on the table. These tables are actually large benches with metal tops and I am not a clean freak, but seriously, placing the customer's used fork on a metal bench with god knows how many people using it or knowing how clean it was is disgusting, to say the least. When she came back to give us the second course, I said "I put my fork on my napkin because I didn't want you putting it on the table" Again, not one word, rather an insulting glare. So after the second course, she comes up and AGAIN puts my fork on the table. Like WTF?!? "I once again expressed my dissatisfaction to her which she just walks away with a scowl. Rather than going through any more interaction, I just grabbed another set of cutlery nearby. I was done with her.
So then I see this waitress talking to, who I assumed was the manager, she's looking at me while talking to him glaring at me and I could tell she's berating me. The manager then walks past me which I clearly hear him say "You just have to take the high road with customers" - SO at this point, the meal is ruined and I have been verbally insulted by the manager in front of my party. There is even more to tell, but first, since we were eight there was a forced 20% gratuity. I had no chance to give her $0 tip which I oh so much wanted to do.
So, as I'm leaving the manager was at the hostess station, and I said on my way out "Was that waitress complaining to you about me?" He shrugs and rolls his eyes which clearly indicated to me that she was, otherwise he would have just curiously said "No?" - I then felt compelled to tell my side and said, "Besides the hair in my wife's food, your waitress placed our used forks on the table which is completely unsanitary and gross" The shocker comes when he looks at me and tells me "You can turn around and get the F out" - (Yes he used the F-bomb on me) - I said "Did you really just say that? - I'm just going to Yelp you guys and let everyone know what you said" - He says in a retort "Go ahead, get out now".
Anyway, needless to say my party of 8 were all informed of the classy manager and unhealthy service we received and all of us have told our friends we do not recommend this restaurant. They will never see us again. read more
