By far the best pupusas I have ever had, but was disappointed that I ordered to sit outside and they didn't come with any of slaw that is usually on pupusas. The people working were really nice and fast. It was nice that they had outside tables so I can sit out there with my dog. Don't live in the area, but next time I come back, I'll be back! Delicious flavors here; authentic home style Salvadoran and Central American cuisines, served up hot and fresh. Papusas, bistek & asada, hearty soups and fragrant, hand-made masa tortillas... Soft, tangy, REAL red rice and the more authentic refritos that are more of a rich sauce than the thick, gloppy cheese-laden stuff you normally get in "Mexican" restaurants... really superior in every way, to my palate. The service is counter, friendly and quick. It's a delight watching the work back in the kitchen as you order. The expert slap-slap-slap of tortillas being made by hand, steaming pots bubbling on the stove and the banter of the cooks as they chop fresh vegetables all combine to fill the place with an enticing ambiance. It's very simple and comfortable. They do not serve alcohol here, but the beverages they have are quite adequate. I recommend the bottled cane sugar Coke. The only detracting factor for me was the thin styrofoam plate my delicious bistek was served on; I had to be very careful not to saw through the plate as I cut the steak, or stab through it as I forked the peppers and onions. They have metal knives and forks for eat-in orders...why not opt for hard plates, to prevent messes? Great flavors here. We will be back for more! Highly recommended. read more

This is a small, new restaurant in the venue that the tamale shop used to occupy. The food is absolutely terrific, service is friendly, and there is more dining-in space than was the case with the previous restaurant. Only room for improvement: could be a little cleaner, and the menu could provide a bit more explanation for people unfamiliar with the cuisine. The food here was amazing!!! If you're in the area hit this place up. Never skip over the little hole in the wall places. If we lived closer we would eat here regularly. Nice small clean and friendly family business with really fresh made to order dishes. The Salvadoran dishes tasted like you were eating dinner in someone's home. All dishes were served hot and fresh straight out of the kitchen to our table accompanied by warm smiles. We left with happy full stomachs and souls. Really good addition to Ferndale. The restaurant is amazing! Our family of 4 (Dad, Mom, and two sons, age 10 and 14) ordered 7 different things because 1) we were really hungry and 2) everything looked tasty and interesting and we didn't know what we would like. We totally underestimated how much food it would be and have enough for another entire dinner! Everything was delicious and different, as we love Mexican food, but never had Salvadoran food before! We can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu! The birria flour papusas, chicken corn papusas, quesobirrias, papusas loca, pastelitos, tacos dorado, and tamales were all delicious! read more
