Two words: Jelly - Donuts. I grew up eating these donuts on special occasions and when I returned to Brooklyn they became a family favorite for my children. I purchased buns here yesterday after hearing so many good things. Well, the buns were horribly stale. Not just "not fresh", but hard as a rock stale. They were not even edible and the icing on the poppy seed buns fell right off. I called up to complain and whoever I spoke to said she would wrap them better for me next time I come. I sad "um never again" and this was more than simply not being wrapped well enough. She assured me that old buns are thrown out before closing. I said this was about 3pm, and there was no way these buns were put out that morning. Instead of offering to reimburse my money she she said she didnt know what to say, but that they would never leave stale buns out. I live 5 minutes away from the amazing Tasty Bakery. I'll stick with them for now on where everything is always fresh. read more

This place is incredible, we've been a few times. Recently bought a red velvet cake for an office Bday which received rave reviews have had a few pastries and the bread is to die for. I been buying cakes from this place for a while. One especially today. The last few times the cakes have been dry , stale , and disgusting. I been told my the girls working there that the cakes were fresh when in reality they were old. Not only were the cakes disgusting, the attitudes and personality of the girls behind the counter were not plesent at all. I won't be going back to this bakery and I do not recommend it to anyone. read more

I had a terrible experience today. I bought 2lbs of cookies that were prepackaged and i barely walked right out the door before i changed my mind. I wanted to buy something that was more expensive so i come right back in. The girl who sold me the cookies not even a minute before went to get a guy in the back who came out yelling at me. I was able to exchange the cookies for a cake that was almost 20 dollars more but this was a horrible experience ill never go here again. I ordered a cake for my two-year-old's birthday party and gave very specific details for the cake. I've been coming here for a year now and many times we come from work nearby to order things. It didn't bother me so much that they messed up the cake in terms of the red and white flowers, but the attitude of the Baker who didn't even take my order to begin with, was disgusting. After an argument, the original Baker who did take my order came out and admitted that she made a mistake with the details. That's all I wanted. They have great baked goods and amazing cake but if you can't get a custom order right at least have the decency or dignity to admit your mistake. In the end I paid 62 for a 12 inch cake because you can't have a birthday party without cake. read more

Years ago, my family frequented Cuccio's, weekly. My parents always picked up a dozen buns on Sunday mornings. Neighborhood bakeries are vanishing and it's nice to see Cuccio's is still open. I tend to bake at home, and no longer live near Cuccio's. It's been at least 20 yrs since I've visited the bakery and did so, recently, out of nostalgia. I ordered a dozen buns, which I truly enjoyed with my morning coffee, and the price was wonderfully reasonable. It brought back so many memories. I had to smile at previous comments regarding staff personalities. For some reason, the girls behind the counter always seem to have an unnecessary attitude. I was surprised that a debit or credit card is not accepted. I use my debit card for everything, so I would appreciate this convenience in the future. Overall, if you're going to buy bakery goods in this area, I would recommend Cuccio's. (If you're seeking authentic Italian pastries, however, go to Villabate-Alba on 18th Ave.) read more

FINALLY...FAMILY is back at Cuccio's Bakery! I went in last week because my neighbor told me when she was in the day before she was served by the friendliest, mature (not only in age but over all personality), courteous woman. Just on a hunch she asked the server if she were 'related' because she look very Italian and suspiciously like Dame Tina who ran the store front forever until she past. The answer was not surprising - YES! Her name is Deb and she said she is first cousin to the present owner, niece to the generation before. GREAT JOB, CUCCIO's! you've brought back an original! (let's hope she stays and her professional etiquette rubs off on everyone else). By the way she placed my donuts in the box - not 'tossed' them AND she lined them up perfectly AND put the frosted ones on top (so not to get smeared by the weight of the others over them, AND covered them with a wax paper so when we opened the box at home the chocolate boston cream donuts were not disgustingly smeared across the inner top of the box!
