DO NOT RENT HERE, THEY ARE A SCAM AND IT SEEMS THEY ARE ALL IN ON IT, I'm not 100 percent sure, but…read moreI honestly wouldn't be surprised. My Public Storage unit was burglarized and a substantial amount of my property was stolen, including my 60+ inch TV, clothes, shoes, purses, mirror, kitchen island stools, college degree, cap and gown, and sentimental belongings given to me by my mother before she passed away. I immediately filed a police report and submitted a claim through the insurance program associated with my Public Storage account (Orange Door/Sedgwick). I had been paying for this insurance for approximately three years. My biggest concern is that no one has been able to clearly explain what investigation was actually conducted. The Sedgwick claims manager could not tell me whether surveillance footage was reviewed, whether the Public Storage employee who contacted me about someone attempting to break in was interviewed, or whether the facility's records concerning the reported attempted break-in were investigated. I was simply told there was no available camera footage and that the claim was being closed. I have not even received a written denial explaining why my claim was denied or documenting what investigation was performed. I am requesting that information in writing. There is also a major security concern: Public Storage changed the lock to my unit and did not provide me with the new key, meaning the facility had access to my unit while I did not. I was later informed there was a record at the facility regarding an attempted break-in. Was that incident actually investigated? I still have no answers. I contacted Public Storage customer service after Sedgwick closed the claim and was transferred multiple times before being told the matter would be escalated to a regional manager. I have already spoken with that manager and my concerns were not meaningfully resolved. I paid for this storage unit and insurance for years, with my monthly cost eventually exceeding $200. When a substantial amount of my property was stolen, I expected an actual investigation and some accountability. Instead, I have been passed from person to person without clear answers. I am not claiming that I know who stole my belongings. I don't. I am saying that there are serious unanswered questions about the facility's security, the reported attempted break-in, the changed locks, the lack of access to my unit, the availability of surveillance footage, and the insurance investigation. I am now collecting my police report, insurance documents, correspondence, emails, and other evidence and will be filing complaints with the state Department of Insurance, state Attorney General/Consumer Protection authorities, and the FTC for review. I have also seen other reviews reporting theft and security concerns at this location. I cannot independently verify those experiences, but the similarities are concerning. I will be posting this same account on Yelp as well, so there is a record of my experience. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend considering other storage options before renting here.

My experience with Public Storage in Austin has been unbelievably frustrating…read more I rented a unit approximately 24 hours before my scheduled move-in. The manager called me personally, confirmed the rental, provided my access codes, and gave me my unit number. Everything appeared to be ready. When I arrived with my movers, I discovered I could not access my unit because the elevator access had been programmed for the wrong floor. This should have been a simple issue to correct. Unfortunately, there was no one on-site to help. I called the Public Storage customer service number repeatedly--at least 5 to 7 times--and left multiple urgent requests for a callback. Despite explaining that I had movers on-site and was unable to access the unit I had rented, no one responded. More than 24 hours later, I still had not heard from anyone. As a result, I was unable to move into the unit I had already paid for, while my movers stood idle at approximately $200 per hour. What should have been a routine move-in became an expensive and completely avoidable disaster. The most disappointing part wasn't the original mistake. Mistakes happen. It was the complete lack of support afterward. If someone had simply answered the phone or returned a call, the situation likely could have been resolved quickly. My takeaway is this: Public Storage was extremely responsive when I was renting the unit. Once they had my money and a problem arose, I was effectively on my own. I would strongly caution anyone considering this location to understand that there may be no on-site staff available when you need immediate assistance. If something goes wrong on move-in day, you may find yourself unable to access your unit and unable to reach anyone who can help. That's not a risk I would take again.

DO NOT LEASE a unit from this place they have a rat infestation and they lie to you about it. I…read morepurchased the insurance through them and the insurance didn't cover anything. I tried calling the manager of this facility and she lied, told me she would see if there was anything she could do it's been 2 weeks still no call back when I tried reaching back out to her the phone goes straight to voicemail. She lied about knowing they have a rat issue as well. The rat was dead in my unit for probably a month. It was wedged in between two boxes. Those boxes had my high end valuables in them. The smell is so bad, my stuff smells like death. There is nothing that can be done to get the smell out. She also told me I wasn't the first person that this has happened to and she never heard anything from the other customer that had an issue stating the insurance wouldn't cover and replace there items. Not to mention when we first looked at the unit it was empty nothing at all in the unit then days later they put some rat repellent in the units. If I would have had a slight clue about any of these issues I would have definitely been more cautious about putting my stuff here. There is also an old man on the property that I feel tries to "help you" so he can either get money from you or get stuff from you. I couldn't believe he asked to help me he is very fragile looking he also looks like he lives in the unit he's "renting". I also went to the property at about 9ish and two people were sitting outside the unit smoking, carrying on and they had there belongings everywhere. They were even blocking my storage unit with their stuff. Stay away from this storage facility or you'll end up like me.
