We signed a paper contract when they dropped off the unit, although I don't really remember signing a contract. But then 3.5 years later, they sent us a digital contract and asked us to sign it. But because I don't remember the paper contract, I refused to sign the digital contract. Even though we were paying every month on time for the last four years, they refused to give us one more month with the unit because we refused to sign the contract. Additionally, after returning the unit, my credit card was charged two months in a row, and I had to call the company to get a refund on my credit card. I would recommend the business because the delivery and pickup of the unit was simple. But everything else involved with renting this unit, I don't recommend.

I worked with a different moving company 2 years ago that left me scarred for life with how rude and unprofessional they were. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

As…read moresuch, I was surprised in what I viewed as a "bait and switch" type transaction from the original company. Nonetheless, the movers were on time and professional. They worked hard, were very upbeat and they knew what they were doing. Nothing was broken or lost. I take one star away from what could have been a four star rating because of the following: 1. They scratched my wood floor and chipped the wall in the old home. I give them the wall because the turn radius was tight in the staircase but the floor scratch to me was deep and preventable; 2. They forgot to finish setting up the table at the new home and had to come back which they did right away; 3. the bed set up was shoddy, the screws and bolts were loose and none of the screws in the platform slats were installed. When I called to complain, the man who answered the phone went on the defensive right away and appeared to be questioning my concerns and informing me what a "typical" platform bed set up should be. The customer service on the front end was good, on the back end - just okay.

Within 30 mins of their arrival, I received a call that my mother was rushed to the hospital so I had to leave the movers unsupervised. When I returned back from the hospital later that evening 95% of our belongings were packed, but the price drastically changed from what was originally agreed upon. We debated with the movers who called his supervisor(who was useless) and because most of our belongings were on the truck they threatened that they would not unload or move the vehicle until an amount and additional down payment was received. My husband gave in because this is the same night that my mother passed away and we were emotionally drained!!!! The furniture arrived to IL unwrapped and damaged. Our living room set is cream and had no wrapping and had foot prints and tears on the cushions. Not one item arrived undamaged. They even threw our winter coats in the same box with our pots and pans. We filed a claim, stated in our contract in case of damages and received $114.00.
