Thomas consulted with me regarding details and relayed the details to his movers and then he left. The movers loaded everything on the truck from my previous residence quickly and carefully. They unloaded everything to my new residence without any problems. The movers were very organized, professional, efficient and courteous. I have used several moving companies over the past 15 years, but Casper Movers were the absolute best moving company I have ever used. Thomas was great and didn't make it seem like my move was the biggest in the world and would be a million dollars. Others did and really stressed me out. He has a big motley crew of guys and if you are not bothered by the seeming random collection of humans they got through the move fairly smoothly. One issue: Mirror was broken and I was told it was already broken in the shed where it was being stored. I cannot prove it and I let it go but it was not broken when I put it in the shed so... It really should have been pointed out as broken before they moved it in my opinion. When screws were misplaced Thomas replaced them and sent guys back to finish reassembly. Thomas removed empty boxes and sent a crew back for help with unpacking the next day at a lower rate. Also went back to pick up items at the house and disposed of the junk for no extra charge. Overall I would say he went above and beyond and I am happy with my selection. The mirror was the one issue I had to dock a star for. It is entirely possible it was broken in the shed as we were packing other thing up. But if that is so they should have said so before it went in the truck. read more

Thomas just went from a favorable review to a bad one for me. His team was several hours late to move me into my condo today. Because of this I was unable to get anything unpacked before picking up my daughter from daycare. Thomas billed me via Venmo as soon as his team was done and I assured them I would pay ASAP. Thomas then proceeded to send me SEVERAL payment requests on 2 different apps over the course of a couple hours. Then he called me while I was driving to Walmart to pick up household items that I did not have. I answered crying because I was so overwhelmed and he assured me he was not trying to stress me out. It's rare that I give 5 stars but this company is well deserving of it. After calling several moving companies a week before the end of the month, I found a company (won't name) that was able to help me. At the time I was content with staying with that company. The price they had quoted seemed reasonable and comparable to their competitors their yelp reviews were pretty solid so I went with it. But shortly afterwards a friend of mine alerted me that she used a service in VA that was a lot cheaper and had excellent service. I called that company but they were unable to accommodate me but they sent me to CasperMovers. Initially, I was a little unsure about the company largely because I couldn't find a direct website link for them. But something in my gut said "give them a chance." I'm glad I did. Thomas the owner was extreme professional from the first time we spoke. He quotes a reasonable fee that that included carefully packing my furniture. He was able to answer all of my questions and provided me with the link to his website and yelp reviews. Additionally, the day before my move he called to confirm the appointment. My appointment was scheduled for 8 am. Thomas and his crew of 3 men arrived at 7:50 pm. They were immediately ready to start working. Thankfully I was ready because these dudes don't play! I have a few really bulky heavy pure wood pieces that I was worried about being transported. CasperMovers took patience and time wrapping each piece! Never once did they complain about anything especially considering my new place has a lot of stairs to carry the heavy furniture. Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware!!) The actual movers were adequate and fairly careful with my stuff however the job was not well planned and I received massive sticker shock on the invoice. Thomas came out and did an estimate where I pointed out that I had a 800 lbs gun safe. At that time January 12, 2019 he quoted a price of $2300 which was fair given that the government estimate for the move was around $2500 (I am a recently retired veteran executing my retirement move) and I was moving February 3rd (more than 2 weeks notice). I was assured that the truck they brought would accommodate all of my items however about 80% through the job they realized they couldn't take everything and left me with a significant amount to move after the fact with my own truck on the order of 2000 lbs which required 2 days of my own time to take care of. This is not the worst of it though. The worst part was when I was given an invoice of $3872 which was almost $1600 more than the estimate and over a thousand more than my reimbursement from the military. Thomas tried to tell me that moving my gun safe added at least a $1000 to the job. I pointed out that there are companies that will move a gun safe across the country for $500 and locally for about $200. Considering I was only moving 7 minutes away (about 3.5 miles) this was fairly ridiculous. After some serious discussion we compromised on a price which was still significantly more than my reimbursement but I needed a paid invoice in order to get reimbursed from the government and wanted to avoid a protracted legal fight. I am not a rookie when it comes to moving and have planned and executed 16 moves in 29 years including 6 do it yourself moves. In that time I have never encountered anyone so far off their estimate nor ever had to put money out of my own pocket to cover the cost of a government move. Generally I liked to do these types of moves because I see it as a chance to help a little guy out, save the tax payers some money, and not deal with the hassle of the personal property office. In this case I would have been much better off going through the personal property office at Ft. Myers. I highly recommend NOT using Casper's Movers especially if you are a service member as you will get taken advantage of. I also intend to report Casper moving company practices to the Ft. Myers Personal Property Office as well as the Better Business Bureau. After reading some of the 5 star reviews I am of the belief that those are paid or fake reviews, especially the ones that talked about a "military rate" or "military discount" because those never came up in any of our discussions although I clearly mentioned that this was a military move. read more

I'm a bit conflicted on this review. 5 stars for being able to help me at the last minute with a follow up on a 2nd day. Thomas was very professional on the phone and helpful with figuring out my needs. The movers were pretty nice and hard working. 3 stars on the actual move. Needed some help with pack-out. So, part of this is my fault for last minute move. Hindsight: I would have someone come and pack-out on a separate day prior to the move. If you want to control what's going in what box and try to get some kind of labels outside of what room it goes to. I had 5 guys helping and it was too much to keep an eye on. They want to get it done, in and out which I can appreciate, BUT I am still unpacking and I have no idea what is in the boxes. Now these guys do work really hard which I really appreciate! I did feel a bit rushed by them though. also at a point it seemed like they were over it and ignored me on some things I had said I wanted done. I get it, they were probably pretty tired especially with the heat, but we did pay about $2000 for 2 days including truck and packing materials. Had damage on a few items which I didn't discover until a few weeks later as it takes forever to unpack a lot of stuff. Didn't call and complain because quite frankly I didn't think anything would be done especially after weeks had passed. Guy who the took bed apart lost some bolts. He said they were never there. Glad a different guy was trying to put it back together and we saw this. We realized this was not going to work. He tried to convince us it would be ok,but no way were we risking putting our heavy bed on rails not bolted in the middle. We had to stop at Home Depot to get some more, and finish the bed later ourselves. Not sure if I'd go with them again. Definitely, would be better prepared next time and realize that it takes a lot more time to move a house full of stuff. read more

I am very disappointed in my experience with Thomas Casper's company. We hired him to provide services loading our packed stuff into an ABF U-Pack trailer. The rate was good - $150 an hour for four workers plus Thomas. He loaded most of the trailer himself and had his workers bring out furniture and boxes. We were happy with the service when they left. Our truck arrived from ABF two weeks later and we hired another company in Washington state to unload our truck. They found multiple damaged pieces of furniture and would not touch any furniture that looked damaged until one of us assessed it, and we supervised the entire unloading process very closely - much moreso than the loading process, since we were very busy that day trying to get the last details completed for a cross-country move. The trailer itself was padlocked with our own padlocks, as we filled the entire truck, so ABF had no access to our property while the truck was in transit. The damage was due to negligence and carelessness in both the wrapping of furniture and the loading of furniture and boxes. A wood veneer bookshelf suffered the worst damage with the top and bottom completely destroyed, thanks to the two removable shelves being left in the unit, and it was turned upside down - the force of the shelves dropping from their pins severely damaged the top of the shelf. There was also damage to a number of pieces due to the furniture not being adequately wrapped - more than once I had to go over a worker's wrapping job to ensure it was fully wrapped and that no packing tape was attached to the surface itself. A heavy duty desk hutch (office grade) was also damaged, and the worker who damaged it attempted to hide the damage by taping the broken board with clear packing tape. While Thomas insists that this could not have been one of his employees due to their use of brown tape, we had multiple rolls of tape all over the house, and the hutch certainly wasn't damaged when we cleared off the desk to be moved. With ABF having no physical access to our property and the unloading company requiring us to assess all damaged furniture prior to physically touching it, it is inevitable that one of Thomas's employees damaged the hutch. To top it off, boxes marked with large red "FRAGILE" stickers had heavy boxes stacked on top of them, and very lightweight boxes were put at the bottom of a stack of boxes with much heavier ones on top. We are still unpacking our things and hope that nothing in boxes got damaged too badly, but the furniture damage alone totaled nearly $700. I emailed Thomas with details and photos of the damage and told him I wanted to give him a chance to make things right before I took any action. Unfortunately he is unwilling to take responsibility for anything that happened to our property and refuses to file an insurance claim through his company to address this. I suspect that Thomas and his employees were significantly more careless than they would have been had they been responsible for the transport and unloading of our property. Instead, they damaged numerous items and pawned the responsibility off on the transit and the unloaders, both of which I am absolutely certain are not responsible parties. read more

I have moved over 7 times within Virginia and D.C. and Thomas and his team are the best by far in terms of efficiency, professionalism, knowledge, and price. They arrived early with packing supplies to make sure all of my items were packed carefully for my storage unit. They moved quickly and carefully and didn't waste any time. When they realized I didn't have a box for my flat screen TV they found their own box that would fit the size and carefully packaged it. Thomas and crew was referred to me one day before the move. I had made the reservation at the last minute because the other company spooked me and was unable to put anything in writing. He got stuck in traffic and ran a bit late, but he and his other crew member hustled and were professional, quick and cautious. They even reassembled IKEA furniture which is never the easy task. We just hired Casper Movers for our recent move from DC to Alexandria and had a great experience. Prices were very reasonable and they sent 4 guys and a 26ft truck so we were able to get everything done in less than 4 hours. The movers did a great job wrapping and protecting everything and only 1 of our pieces of furniture had a small amount of damage, but that is to be expected with any move. Only negative is that they charge a 5% fee if you pay by credit card, which would have been nice to know in advance. read more

I found this company on the dreaded Craig's List. You never know what you're gonna wind up with from there, but I decided to try Casper's Moving just last month to coordinate a move on 2/9. The move was the BEST move of my life (I have moved over 7x in the last 3 years for my work). They wrapped everything perfectly, took great care of my things. They were ON TIME, polite, very service-oriented. They worked methodically and did not drag time. The price Thomas Casper quoted me by phone, was spot-on and FAIR. Mr. Casper told me he has been in the [moving] business since he was a teen. It shows. This guy knows his stuff. His right-hand man, Curt, was awesome, too. Polite, also, with a very friendly demeanor. These two men are also very strong. They know how to negotiate furnishings around corners. They DID NOT bump into one thing, and DID NOT scrap even a wall. I'm headed back to Jersey in October and I'm using this company for the move. Try them for your move rather than calling up some other companies with overcrowded reviews. Found Thomas Casper and his crew through the fantastic reviews here on Yelp, and I'm glad I did. They just finished my move from Baltimore to Philadelphia, starting at 9am this morning and finishing at 4:30pm this afternoon. Other companies I contacted wanted to pick up one day and deliver the next, so I really appreciated that they could do a same-day move. Thomas drove up from DC to Baltimore to look at my stuff and gave the lowest out of 4 estimates I received. He arrived on time for the estimation appointment and his crew arrived exactly when he said they would on the day of the move. Thomas had a different move that day so didn't move me himself but the crew he sent, Curt, Steve, and Jamal, were great. Professional, strong, funny, and friendly. They made my move as easy as possible. I've moved 3 times in the last 4 years and have dealt with a wide variety of moving companies. Some info that might be useful for people who've used larger professional moving services before: not a bad thing, but Casper's doesn't offer some of the bells and whistles that larger, more expensive companies do. They don't tag each of your boxes and list them on a bingo sheet, for example, and they didn't bring cloth blankets to wrap my furniture (they did have shrink wrap and paper, which was fine, but not what I was expecting. But the guys were happy to use a few extra blankets I had available). I'm still happy I went with Casper, though. I absolutely recommend these guys and plan to use them for my next move. read more

Amazing! Being a military family we have moved over a dozen times, and have utilized multiple moving companies. Casper Moving has been by far the easiest to work with. This four man crew worked hard, and was efficient at their task. Communication between the set up of appointment to the driving away was exceptional. My experience with Casper Movers has been fantastic. I have used this company twice now because I had such a good experience the first time. Their pricing is extremely reasonable and consistent. Movers showed up on time and work very quickly. They are polite and courteous and extremely reliable. They will wrap up your possessions securely in moving blankets and boxes to prevent damage to your belongings. None of my belongings had any scratches or damage in 2 separate moves. Most impressive to me is their ability to disassemble furniture and bedroom sets and the reassemble them when they unload and unpack your things. They will ask for your input on where to put things at your new location and they will even rearrange things to your liking at the new location until you are satisfied. They show up prepared and ready to work. I didn't even have everything packed in boxes yet when they showed up but it didn't matter. They boxed up the rest of my things that were not yet packed including books and files which they put in separate boxes. They very quickly packed and loaded my things and just as quickly unloaded them and reassembled them at the new location. They are fast and efficient and get the job right.
