AVOID at all costs! My experience with PENDER MOVING SERVICES LLC was an absolute nightmare, marked by damaged property, significant delays, broken promises, and utterly unprofessional conduct from the owner (Sharon). In short - Our move on June 2, 2025, was a disaster from the start. The movers showed up with the wrong size truck, immediately delaying the process. Despite this, they managed to break my desk and my 65-inch Sony TV. I was never given any paperwork or asked to sign a waiver regarding the handling of my TV or belongings, which I later learned should have been standard procedure. To make matters worse, the move went nearly 7 hours over the estimated time. Including details if you are interested. Also attaching e-mails showing Sharon trying to bully me into not leaving reviews. As well as throwing a temper tantrum when I asked to close this out by 7/25 as I am drained after going back and forth for almost two months. Broken Promises and Unprofessional Conduct - Immediately after my TV was broken, the move manager promised a brand-new replacement TV, admitting their employee shouldn't have attempted to move a wall-mounted TV without proper protocol. However, the owner, Sharon, arrived at the end of the move and proceeded to be incredibly rude and accusatory from the moment she entered my home uninvited. She spent more time arguing than trying to resolve the issue, even attempting to strong-arm her employee into recanting his statement about their TV-moving policy. Sharon left that day promising to submit an insurance claim, yet vowed it would be denied. She then said if it was denied, "we would figure something out." A Chronicle of Avoidance and Dishonesty - The following weeks were a frustrating saga of Sharon's poor communication and broken promises: June 3 - July 6: Repeated attempts to follow up on the broken desk (which was eventually returned, with me having to help unload it alone) and the promised TV replacement were met with vague responses, excuses, and no concrete action. July 7: Sharon claimed she "found a TV" but wouldn't provide details, then backtracked when pressed, revealing she was only "looking for one." July 17: After persistent calling, Sharon finally offered $400 for my $1600 TV, then "generously" increased it to $650. When I asked for proof of the alleged insurance claim denial, she evaded the request. I offered a reasonable compromise for an $899.99 TV from Best Buy, proposing she contribute $249.99 more than her offer. She said she would follow up. July 18: Sharon admitted she never even submitted an insurance claim in the first place, falsely claiming her agent "never submitted it." She then threatened to not honor our compromise if she had to submit a claim now. Her behavior clearly suggests a deliberate attempt to avoid taking responsibility. July 19 - 20: More excuses and unresponsiveness. Throughout this entire process, Sharon's communication has been abysmal, often blaming personal family issues for her unresponsiveness and lack of professionalism. This is unacceptable and doesn't excuse her dishonest and disrespectful treatment of a customer whose property her company damaged. I strongly advise against using PENDER MOVING SERVICES LLC. Their lack of professionalism, disregard for customer property, and dishonest practices have made what should have been a simple move into a prolonged and stressful ordeal. - 7/28. Business is Unprofessional and dishonest. I showed Sharon the e mail where I sent her with 12 photos and she was baffled and advised she didn't receive them all (not confirmed). I advised that if she had returned my calls and spoken to me that her error would have been caught. She blamed family issues which I did sympathize with but advised that I shouldn't have to deal with that as a customer. Sharon is more interested in being "right" than she is interested in offering good service. I also see 1 star reviews that were not showing for me when I booked her. I see she broke something and again wouldn't take responsibility so this is a theme and not a one off. read more

From start to finish, communication was poor, professionalism was lacking, and the job was not handled as agreed. We were moving from two one-bedroom apartments into one two-bedroom and initially requested two days. The owner convinced us her team was fast enough to complete it in one day, so we agreed--paying extra for a larger truck. Leading up to the move, we made several calls and sent emails to confirm details, including proof of insurance and move logistics. It took multiple follow-ups to get confirmation, and many messages went unanswered. We even had to call the night before to confirm they were actually coming. On moving day, a smaller truck than agreed arrived. When we called, the owner claimed she changed the truck size (without informing us) based on only 4 of the 12 photos we'd sent--because she hadn't checked the email until the night before. This poor judgment and lack of communication caused major issues. My move alone took 4 hours, partially delayed by one mover flirting with residents. When we got to my partner's place, they couldn't fit everything in the truck. This meant extra trips, more time, and added stress. By the 9th hour, with people exhausted, items broken, and tensions high, the owner finally appeared--unannounced and with a bad attitude. Her own employees shared that she has a pattern of not paying them on time. Avoid the headache. Hire someone who respects your time, your belongings, and their own team. UPDATE: Please see the continued lack of professionalism below in their response. She literally agreed that she would have been more proactive in checking emails and based on her long and tenured experience in the industry, she definitely should have double checked to make sure all the pictures were correct. We called and emailed several times leading up to the move, giving Agee ample time to confirm all the necessary things and she didn't respond or even pick the phone up until the night prior. Always saying she "in the field"... we have proof of need be of unanswered calls and emails. Agreeing to the mistakes made in person and backtracking on yelp is wild. To be expected nonetheless. 12 hour move (I mean if you don't pay your employees on time I guess that makes sense), and yes a broken $1600 TV and desk. We were not asked to sign any type of liability waiver in this move. She said, verbatim. I am not willing to submit an insurance claim for your broken item because I'm not willing to have my premium go up. She mentioned that the insurance guy and her lawyer are her friends and this was her lawyer's advice. She also lied and said that she did talk to the insurance company, and they came back with the amount that they would cover for the broken TV, so when we asked for the communication and or proof of her communication with the insurance company, she all of a sudden came back and said that she basically never talk to them. Need further proof of lack of accountability and professionalism?? I didn't mentions the broken TV and desk in detail in my original post. Had they not broken a thing I'd still not recommend this company. I've moved a whole apartment into a u-haul by myself in my 20's in less time than it took for this move to happen. Carlos and Jonathan came to pack our 10 foot UHaul. They we're friendly and efficient, and Carlos listened carefully to the detailed instructions given and executed them beautifully. Carlos is also a Tetris master as he put the heavy items on the bottom, light stuff on top, and filled the UHaul till the door could barely close. We've used many movers throughout the years and wish we could have Carlos and Jonathan every time! read more

Hired them to moving my household from Virginia to South Carolina. They packed haphazardly and placed a slab of expensive marble vertical against the rear door. When I opened the door the marble fell and broken. While admitting it was their error and stating they would compensate; they have not done so. Completely dishonest. Terrible experience. read more

Pender MS was suggested by U-Haul and showed strong reviews, so I picked them. I'm very glad I did. They were super organized, calling me in advance to coordinate the exact arrival time. They showed up on time and demonstrated super moving experience, knowing in what order to stow things, safe work practices, and securing things well in the truck. They worked fast but also carefully. I asked Uhaul off Dumfries road, in Manassas Virginia who they would recommend for movers. The rep suggested Pender Moving Services. I called Pender and scheduled the day I needed help loading my uhaul. Due to inclement weather, I had to move the day up, a few days. Sharon took excellent care of me. She did a phenomenal job and even helped me find moving blankets at an alternate Uhaul location. Carlos and Jorg assist with packing my apartment. They were friendly, efficient and did a great job. I was impressed with how fast they were to load my 20 foot uhaul. There was a small hiccup and Shannon took care of it right away. I would highly recommend Pender Moving Services. We hired Pender Moving to move our two-bedroom apartment from one unit to another on the same floor of our building. The move want extremely well. Our movers, Jay and Philip, were right on time and very friendly and courteous. The arrangements with Sharon were super easy and she kept in good contact with us. I can't recommend these guys enough! Had to move across town this last weekend from Vienna to Alexandria and Pender Moving Services made the loading and unloading quick and painless. They filled up the 15ft U-Haul I rented very neatly and professionally in under 90 minutes and unloaded hauled it up to the third floor of my new place in about 90 minutes. Remember to get lots of furniture pads if you are renting a truck! The wrapping and protection of my furniture was immaculate, but it would not have been as easy to do without the 18 furniture pads I had with my U-Haul rental. These guys are locals and have been helping move people in/out of the Northern Virginia area for over twenty years from what I understand. I've already recommended them to another family member and friend who are both moving - and will continue to do so when the topic of movers gets brought up in conversations. If you are reading this review, then I would finish up with advising to go through them directly rather than through U-Haul. It's easier on all parties involved. I moved the entire contents of my home in Alexandria VA to Florida using Pender Moving Services. Two Sonos speakers, a Milwaukee 18-Volt cordless drill were stolen from me. My 5K mattress which was enclosed in a heavy duty mattress protector bag was dragged on the lawn. This resulted in grass stains that could not be removed. There are are many affordable, reliable and ethical movers in the DMV area, unfortunately this is not one of them. read more

From booking the moving service through my unexpected delays with the Uhaul moving truck on the morning of our move, Sharon at Pender was outstanding. She called to talk through the reservation and confirmed in advance of the move to make sure all was in order. When the truck I booked wasn't available and I had to go to a second store, I felt comfortable calling to relay the issue and she took care of it with the movers. The movers, Carlos and Hector, were outstanding. Not only did they get everything out carefully and on the truck quickly, but they packed the truck so well that nothing moved during the drive from DC to Baltimore. Great experience! I've used these guys twice now and certainly did not disappoint. They perfectly wrapped and loaded all of my items and managed to somehow fit EVERYTHING I had into a U-Box ( was certain I had too much). It was transported across country and everything arrived in tact! They even offered to help take apart an item I was unable to on my own. They did a great job with helping me move! I booked them for load and unload services. They were a few minutes late, but called beforehand to let me know. They put moving blankets on the floor to keep it clean as they walked around. They were really fast and friendly.
