It's possible to judge the quality of a Chinese restaurant by the hot and sour soup. By that yardstick, Jade Too leaves a lot to be desired; and by extension, in more than just the soup department. Muddled flavors, strange flattened meat, and lackluster prep of the ingredients- all combine to situate Jade Too firmly within the average level of its nearest competitors. In that group though, I do give the restaurant props for a fast delivery and decent dumplings. All said, if you're looking to fulfill a "oh my god. I don't care what I eat but I'm not definitely not cooking tonight" craving for the classics of American-Chinese cuisine, and these guys are close to you, you won't be disappointed by how fast you get your fix. If you have other choices I would recommend making them. I ordered vegetable dumplings steamed and fried. Both were horrible, had an old/stale flavor and dipping sauce was nothing special. For an entree ordered mapo tofu, was the worst mapo tofu I have ever tried. The only part that was good was the plain white rice. Mapo tofu sauce was more like a brown gravy that was spicy. You are better off going to a fast food restaurant where the expectations are very low. They charged me extra for a bunch of stuff and I said no soy sauce and they charged me even for it. Fried rice wasn't brown it was white and tasted awful. The tsao chicken was as hard as rocks and I'm throwing out all the left overs. The chicken with onions and peppers had two pieces of chicken in it, rip off. I spoke to the manager and got no where, he just kept saying price is on menu. I am going to contact my credit card company and see if they can compensate me, the whole thing was just one bad experience and they will never get my business again. read more

It's been hard to find a great Chinese takeout restaurant in the area. This is the 3rd place my husband and I have tried near us. I'll say our search still continues. We ordered orange chicken and general tso chicken, both with ck fried rice. Both meals came with egg rolls and we also added cream cheese wantons. I asked for the general tso to be extra spicy. The wait was pleasantly short, taking maybe 10 minutes. The inside had 6-8 tables topped with packets of sauces in the togo soup containers. The floor didn't appear to have been vacuumed in days or weeks bc As I walked I could feel things touching my feet wearing flip flops. Thankfully I was taking my food home. The egg rolls had much to be desired. My general tso wasn't spicy at all. The chicken was ok, but overly breaded and fatty. The fried rice was gross. The peas and carrots were discolored and unfresh. It tasted like they just used a bunch of ck bullion cubes for flavor. It clashed with any Asian flavor in the chicken dishes. Better than Anna Chung's watery mess located across the street, but still low quality take out. read more

I have ordered from this establishment five times. I have always ordered sweet-and-sour chicken, and all it is a breaded chunk of nothing. If there to be chicken inside it's tough and overdone like beef jerky. I will never order from this place again. The rice was hard and delivered it room temperature. Usually pretty good, ordered tonight and SEVERELY disappointed :[ we ordered shrimp chow mein, chicken lo mein and beef in oyster sauce. Shrimp chow mein is not recognizable. Sauce tastes pretty good but that's basically all it is, with only a ton of cooked celery and a disappointing number of shrimp. Was expecting a noodle dish. There are no noodles. Chicken lo mein, very bland and tasteless. Beef in oyster sauce is also kinda bland, but the worst part is nearly all the pieces of beef are GRISELY and basically inedible. Got delivery from this restaurant numerous times over the years but the last two were so bad. Ordered at 7, called at 8:15 to see where the order was. They said it was out the door and would be here soon. Finally called to try and cancel at 9, which took 20 minutes. During that time the food finally showed up. The bag was cold to the touch. This place is going downhill. I was there few days ago for a take out lunch. The food had a feeling of rancid smell. I didn't eat it after a few bites. Fortune cookies were so rancid that I threw them away as soon as I open the plastic covering. Not sure they have ordered inventory in excess or the lack of business is making the inventory stay on shelves last so long. I like the location, it's convenient for me. The Lo Mein was soggy, the noodles tasted like they were over cooked. The vegetables and chicken in the Lo Mein were stringy and gross. The orange chicken had an awful taste. The boba's in the tea were hard. The restaurant wouldn't issue a refund. Would not recommend. read more

We stopped in for a quick bite with our young kids after a visit to the Zoo. This is a bare bones, take out oriented location, but we ate at one of the small tables provided. The food was fresh, piping hot and delicious. Lemon chicken, Mongolian beef, won tons, and won ton soup were perfect. The owner is very friendly and made us feel welcome. I would recommend finding an alternate Chinese restaurant. I do not write reviews but this situation has been handled so poorly I feel this was necessary. Ordered from here over 4 weeks ago, delivery time was communicated to be 35-45 minutes. After 60 minutes I called to see if we were getting close and was told the driver left 20 minutes ago. Fast forward to 30 minutes later the food was finally delivered after a total of 90 minutes. I sent an email to the facility letting them know of the situation and that it was handled poorly. I received a response saying the facility was busy. I let them know the food was received lukewarm at best and the egg rolls were stuck to the bags they came in. After weeks of trying to get a hold of the facility to give them the opportunity to handle this situation more respectfully I was told I waited too long to complain...even though I had sent multiple emails anticipating a reply for weeks. Overall the food was disappointing and the treatment of Customer's is even worse off. I wish we had never ordered from here in the first place. read more

I live around the corner from Jade Too, and we get food there once every few weeks. We've had about 15% of the entire menu, which is quite large and meant to match the selection of any other Chinese take-outs. Pretty much everything is delicious. It's all cooked fresh to order and is hot enough to stay hot by the time you have it home. The portions are pretty reasonable without being overwhelming, although on dishes with noodles or rice they sometimes give disappointingly small portions of the entree, instead giving lots of noodles or rice. The dine-in environment is not really ideal. There is limited beverage selection, limited seating, limited service, and no real ambiance. They recently remodeled, but the fact is the unit is just to small to ever really be a restaurant. It is clearly a take-out place. Treat it as such and love it for what it is. The owner is often there and is very friendly and clearly cares about the business. One minor annoyance is that they have changed the menu three times this year, and with no apparent benefit as they more or less make the same food, just with different names, combos, or numbers. Overall, the portions and quality are far superior to the nearby Chinese restaurants/take-outs, and I would say this is the best Chinese food available south of the river. If you want to sit down and eat somewhere, go to Peking Garden in St. Paul. If you want take out, go to Jade Too. Don't get lazy and go to Leean Chin just because you're not near Cliff Road -- Jade Too is worth the drive if you're anywhere south of the river. read more

He recommended the generally chicken which I thought was weird as it's not a Chinese dish. Ordered it based on his recommendation. I did some take out today. Chicken with cashews, boneless barbecue, and sesame chicken lunch specials. Before I tell you how it was, let me mention that I have had food from here about a year ago, and it was good. Today's food was so bad that we did not want to eat it. The chicken in both dishes was very tough. The pieces that were not tough were of a questionable chewy texture. The meat in the barbecue could have been beef jerky. The sauces tasted as though they were manufactured for school lunches. The egg rolls were soggy and tasteless. When I called to let them know, the lady on the other end of the line stated that maybe we didn't like it because we don't like chinese food! Seriously? I love Chinese food......when it is made in such a manner that I enjoy eating it. This food ended up in the garbage. read more
