I'm a Wisconsin girl where fish frys are THE THING and have been on a long search for a good fish fry. I saw a review for this place by another Wisco-girl so decided to try it and so glad I did. The BEER-BATTERED cod is delicious! Huge portions-my hubby and I shared. So crispy and tasty and NOT greasy. Service by Alex was top-notch. Nice atmosphere. Went here for the PHX Suns game 3 against the Bucks. We reserved our table of 6 on Evite. $150 for the reservation and the money was put into a gift card with Crown. We ate 7 appetizers and drank all kinds of stuff, beer, wine, hard liquor. Our bill was $175 . So pretty cheap and $150 was taken off for the reservation . The service was excellent, our waiter was Johnny (I think). He was helpful and did his best to take care of us. The place was packed and we still had excellent service. The owner stopped by to check on us too. The food was Delicious . The cheese curds, chicken wings, humus, fries with gravy- all very good. We will be going back. They have a super small menu (or maybe it was a special game menu- not sure) but it's nothing crazy. Just fish and chips, burgers, grilled cheese and that kind of thing. read more

Today, two months later after I returned from being deployed caring for COVID patients and brought a friend in to eat, the owner Donny approached me and called me a liar about the post. I wanted to support this place and the staff but I cannot and will not be treated that way by a business owner. Desserts listed on the menu weren't available but they did have a pineapple upside cake not listed on the menu, we went ahead and ordered it but when the bill came $10 a piece for a small piece of cake and a three bite ice cream container wasn't worth it. Crown Public House is located right next to the Chase Center and behind the light rail station to go east. My daughter and I were really hungry because we had spent the day at a conference and just wanted to sit and have a great meal. We were told to find our own seats which we did. They have a lot of high tables and I noticed some low tables towards the back of the restaurant. They had a large bar and the restaurant was filled which I always take as a good sign. Our waitress was good she took our drink orders right away and came back in about 15 minutes to get our food order, but we didn't see her again until we asked for our check. I got the fish and chips Maybe this is not one of their best dishes because the fish was mushy and the thick crust was only able to be eaten when it is pulled off the fish. I love fish and chips and this was not a meal I enjoyed here at Crown Public House. My daughter got the Turkey Diablo which she said was fine. Not not delicious, not great, but fine. Maybe it was the chef at the time we were there since this restaurant has gotten 5 stars from others, but I didn't feel that our food was worth five stars. Will I go back? We have been here a few times just because it's located right across from the stadium. It's convenient to grab a beer before a Diamondback game. The food subpar. They claim the fish n chips are the best. They have no flavor, bland and very greasy. Thought-malt vinegar would help but it didn't. Coleslaw actually would have been good if it didn't have that " I have been in the refrigerator for too long taste" fries were decent. I tried but I just could not eat the food and it actually made me a little ill afterwards. I told the waitress to let the kitchen know but not really sure if she did. My fiancé's mother and I were in the area for the Jlo concert. We had gotten there a little bit earlier to enjoy some food before the show started. We didn't really plan it out too well because everywhere around the venue was completely packed with over an hour wait. We decided to walk a little off the beaten path and found a Crown Public House. It was settled right next to a Mexican restaurant and we chose Crown because we had eaten Mexican food earlier. It was a really hot day out and Crown had those misters outside plus there was no wait. We were able to get a seat right away and although it was not the glamorous pregame experience that we had imagined, it was convenient and perfectly fine. We were approached by our server almost right away who was so kind and welcomed us. He could tell by the way we were all dolled up that we were going to see the show and he said that he had seen her perform before and she is amazing. Well, we knew that but I appreciated the warm welcome. I was trying to navigate the drink menu as I would normally order a martini but this place did not look like they were known for martinis. I ended up getting a tequila drink and I tried their Poke bowl. Adam's mother went with a Caesar salad. The food was out in about 10 minutes and I was impressed at the poke bowl. There was a lot of fish in it, so much so that I couldn't even get through half of it. I appreciated the generous portions, but it ended up being heavier than I would've liked. My fiancé's mother said that she should've asked for dressing on the side because it was very heavy for her to get through. Overall, this place had a very fun environment, very affordable prices, and great service, however it is more of a pub feeling than anything. read more

I don't think I ever didn't finish a hamburger. Until now, almost halfway through I gave up. The cowboy burger was absolutely tasteless. Except the BBQ sauce, that is all it tasted like, BBQ sauce and bun. Waiter was kind enough to not charge me for it. At the door we were told we could sit where ever. We sat down for 20 mins with no service. We saw staff around us serve other tables. They made eye contact with us but still decided not even to give us water. No city games were going on so it wasn't overly packed. I would love to hear from management on why they decided not to serve us. It was not too busy for the staff to hang out and talk. This happen Friday at 6pm. Right next to all the action for all the sports downtown, this used to be Coaches Corner and now is a spinoff of the closed Crown and Pub. Still in the process of changing over, we stopped in pregame for a draft beer. Drafts were cold and the menu had some great items it looks like. We shared a poutine which was good but could have been hotter, it was luke warm. Service was a little slow and the place wasn't packed, we would have had a second round of beers but didn't have time and they sat empty for quite a while. Hope the transition gets them some better service! This is an ideal location and we love having a pregame place to have a drink! The server did say they are planning on being a soccer bar and had lots of soccer stuff for the Liverpool team I think... not a soccer fan lol! read more

All of the bars that were directly in front of the stadium (Footprint Center) were packed and extremely loud (hi, we're kinda old ), so we decided to walk a little further down Jefferson and we found Crown Public House! We easily found a spot at the bar (the last two chairs) and got service immediately! Every staff member we came into contact with was helpful and nice! We even met one of the owners and chatted with him a bit. VERY nice guy! I 100% recommend Crown Public House for drinks, food or just to kill time before concerts/games. This place is at a great location being right by the Chase Field and the Footprint Center. We will be going here every time we are in the downtown area! read more
