Spinach and ricotta tortellini with garlic bread
    Tamira T.

My husband really wanted steak and ale pie, then settled for Irish stew instead. Couldn't even find that locally without poor little lambs (ewww) so we went here where he got shepherd's pie. Said it was the best meal he's had in Ireland! So there's that... I had the spinach and ricotta tortellini and it was absolutely delicious. I liked how creamy the sauce was, and the flavor was on point. The seating area was small but we went just after four as we had a spa appointment later. The atmosphere was nice and our server was efficient as well. Overall we left there happy, so they get a five star from us. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Recommendation from a tour guide and glad we called to make a reservation. The food is spot on. We ordered the fried Brie with plum compote, the shepherd's pie and the curry with chicken and finished off with the sticky toffee. Everything was fantastic and the service was incredible. The place is small so do make a reservation or you won't be able to get in. Great location and will be back the next time I'm back in for a visit.

Lives up to the great reviews! We came here close to closing time (30 min before) and they graciously served us. The fish and chips were authentic, with the mushy peas and good portion size. The Cronin's cider was a great complement too. Would come back!

A very popular restaurant in Killarney downtown that seems to be much liked amongst the locals. Everyone I asked about this spot noted it was a great family restaurant that valued serving up home cooking, good food. Word had clearly spread about this spot over the years and amongst tourists as well as you definitely need a recommendation for dinner. Attempted to do a walk in which wasn't possible for inside seating and wasn't as keen on being on the street. However, made a dinner reservation for the following day and it was easy peasy. Staff are definitely on it here and very nice. From the front doorman/host to the wait staff and bartender everyone was kind. Good service and I agree with others reviews that it's got a family vibe. Definitely an Italian meets Irish "Sunday family dinner" type of feel. The menu is just that, classic Irish fare like fish n chips and Shepards pies, from lasagna to tortellini pasta. They also have some classics like roasts, lamb shanks, and steaks. A diverse menu and very cozy dishes. The complimentary bread is delicious with the crushed tomato spread. Can't get enough! For my dish I had the cheese and spinach tortellini which was pretty darn good. 4/5 stars. A nice vegetarian dish but nice and cheesy and flavorful. Garlic bread sealed the deal on it being a great dish. Their cocktail list is minimal I will note. At first I was a little disappointed but honestly there are so many bars in Ireland sometimes it's nice to just go to a spot that isn't focused on the booze. I tried the dingle donkey mainly because the name was cute, it's basically a Moscow mule. Classic cocktail. They do have a small wine list and beers for those interested. Prices are very reasonable here! Two alcoholic beverages and two mains for under 55 euros. The meals were tasty and filling. This is definitely a great little dinner spot to add to your list when in Killarney downtown, just make sure to get a reservation so that you can sit inside as the old school Italian ambiance is what makes it.

    Best Sheppard's Pie !

Swift and delicious. Nice staff and lovely atmosphere. Shepherds pie was great! Perfect serving after a long day

Recently took a trip to Ireland asked a few of the vocals of a good restaurant for Irish food and they recommended this place. Outstanding service outstanding food. I would recommend this and I would go there again very polite great waiter. It's very quaint little place.!!!

Definitely feels like a family place. When we went here recently they were a ton of families dining and a lot of old people. But the bottom line was that the place was full. We had made a reservation a couple hours before we arrived so we didn't have to wait long to get seated. When we were sat down I took a look around and it honestly reminded me of an old Italian restaurant at home. Lots of white walls but still a nice enough place. The service was pretty good despite how busy it was. Our waitress definitely checked on is enough and was professional and what not but lets talk about the food. The steak wasn't bad. It had decent flavor but it was just a bit too over cooked. I always ask for Medium Rare for the chance that they either 1. Get it right or 2. It comes out Medium and I am totally fine with that too also long as the flavor is there. But unfortunately neither of those scenarios happened. I think I'm also just spoiled a little bit at home. When I think Surf and Turf I immediately think of Steak and Lobster but it's cool. The surf can be any kind of good Seafood these days. I love shrimp but these were kind of underwhelming. They definitely weren't overcooked but i just was expecting something more than just a butter soak. All in all I had a decent experience at Cronins. I loved how nice everyone is. Out of all the meals in Ireland, I feel like this wasn't top of my list but I definitely would give them a shot again if I had the opportunity.

Service and food were amazing. All the food we ordered was delicious. We started with the seafood chowder and then had the steak, lasagna, salmon, and tortellini amongst the group of us. Definitely recommend coming for a wonderful dinner with the family. Wonderful atmosphere, they make you feel at home here.

We were starving, so were pleasantly surprised when we found Cronins. Not a lot of choices for food in this area. I got a hamburger, and Mr B got the curry special. Both were good tasting, but overcooked in our opinion. One of our friends got the fish and chips, and was very pleased. Large portions at this place. Friendly service too!

This meant loosened belts and full bellies most of our time in the city and we couldn't have been happier! On our second night in town, we were after an early dinner as we had plans at another local pub later in the evening. After a stroll around town, Mad Monk was the spot! Apparently Quinlan's is a small chain with several spots around Ireland, and after popping in, we can tell why. The thing that stood out the most for us at Mad Monk was the freshness of all the goods, specifically the seafood. I enjoy a good grilled or pan seared fish filet, but being in Ireland, it was my mission to try as many fish and chips as I could, and Mad Monk was next on the list! Before we dove into our mains, we did order one of the only non-seafood dishes on the menu, the braised beef croquettes. They were absolutely tasty, and set up our mains very well! We both went with the traditional fish and chips. The fish was perfectly fried and flaky and the tartar sauce was *chefs kiss*! I will say, as with most chips around the island, the chips were a bit underwhelming. They were slightly crispy and fluffy inside, but I am not a huge fan of steak fries and they definitely could have used a bit more seasoning. Service was solid, efficient and friendly. The space is quaint, bright and sleek. Lots of woods and blues, which definitely give the vibes of seafood. Overall, Mad Monk was a solid spot and one we glad we visited during our short stay in Killarney!

All of our entrees were exceptional Great cheerful service. Very highly recommended Slainte

I visited with family, and although we showed up a half hour ahead of our reservation they were able to accommodate and seat us right away. My family had been in search of a quality serving of oysters during our Ireland trip and took the opportunity here without a doubt. There are several options to order them and you can order as little as three at a time, which is nice since some places only do half dozen increments. The waitstaff was attentive and we even had the manager helping as well, although they did not always keep up with our quick wine drinking as well had to remind them to pour more wine a few times. A patron even pulled the fire alarm on accident but the manager quickly turned it off before it became a distraction. I would recommend Kitty's to any tourist looking for a higher quality meal on their trip like we were.

They greeted me warmly and did a wonderful job of taking my food and drink order. The chowder was absolutely fantastic and the service could not have been better. This restaurant is very peaceful. comfortable and somewhat elegant at the same time. The only negative was that the restaurant got slammed right as I was finishing my meal. When I say slammed, I would say that about 60 people came in various size parties. I had to wait for 25 minutes for my check. I am an American so I may be unfamiliar with the customs in Ireland. I would have at least appreciated some eye contact while I was waiting for my check. They also seemed hesitant to let me take my chowder home, but that also might be a cultural thing that I just don't understand I would go back anytime if I was in Killarney.

We chose the prawn cocktail to start, roast supreme of chicken, and the 16 ounce t-bone. The prawn cocktail came in a large crystal serving dish with about 10 prawns covered in a Rose Marie sauce on a bed of lettuce. Prawns were well cooked, nice and tender, and sweet. Two slices of brown bread and butter. The chicken was lightly fried and came with a stuffing of thyme and spring onion, gravy and French fries. Chicken was well cooked, flavorful and juicy. The fries were nice and crispy. The t-bone was 16ounces and came with mushrooms, onions, onion rings and fries. The steak was cooked as requested, medium rare. The mushrooms were small button mushrooms with sautéed onions. Part of the steak was nice and tender but there were parts that were tough and grisly and fatty. It was okay but not something I would order again. The onion rings, 3, were heavily breaded, stuck together and were not appetizing to look at and definitely not to eat. The fries were nice and crispy and served very not. This was an okay meal but based on it I'm not sure we'd make a return trip. Seating was probably the most comfortable that we have found recently but the place is very noisy and makes it hard to hold a conversation. Service was mediocre in that once we got our main meal we didn't see a server to come back and check to see home things were. They were extremely busy so this might account for that but I'm not sure. .

The host was welcoming, we were quickly seated at our table and we were handed our menus. We chose Gaby's because of the seafood options and meats. And they were delicious. Others tried the seafood platter, broiled and it looked very good. Even the younger one that had chicken fingers was happy. It's no more pricey than any good restaurant (except for the fresh cold water lobsters - those were very expensive - we live in New England so to pay that cost was outrageous.) The atmosphere was charming- if a bit crowded with the tables a bit to close. Servers had to navigate between the chairs. I would definitely recommend the lamb and oysters !! The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people.
