Okay literally just had some of the best fried fish I've had in a long while. If you like fish and chips or any variety of fried seafood and stews, this place will 100% be right up your alley. I asked a local for his favorite fish and chips spot and he hands down said this restaurant. So glad he mentioned it because on a busy street it doesn't have a huge presence so I'm sure I would have sadly walked on by. Thankful for good people and good suggestions! This restaurant is small and almost diner like in layout. No stools but where a diner counter normally would be are the fryers so you can see the fish being cooked up fresh to order. It's definitely got a feel good old timey vibe while also being clean and slightly modernized. The menus were straightforward with some great fried seafood options, appetizers, stews, and sides. The alcohol menu was limited but they had Cronins Cider on the menu so you can't go wrong. Prices were very reasonable for a sit down restaurant that was casual but with 5 star service. The staff were very nice and hospitable. The gentlemen approached us immediately when we stepped inside and told us to wait just one minute while he cleaned a table for us. He was quick and we were sat right away. The staffing was well paced, enough time to look over the menu but then quick to get our orders taken and the food came out in under 10 minutes. That was with almost every table being filled. Both the guy and gal working this evening were nice and on top of things. I opted for the fried fish and chips. However, upgraded to cod and substituted onion rings for the chips. Such a smart move! If you look over their photos and reviews, the onion rings are the star of the meal. Tempura tasting batter, light and fluffy they were amazing! French fries seem to come with everything in the pubs, trust me take a break and get the onion rings you'll be very delighted. The cod fish and chips was another home run, 5/5 stars! Super flaky, fresh, and delicious. The cod is slightly on the smaller side (it's still a plentiful portion) but just noting if you want a really big fried fish maybe go with another option. However, the cod was perfectly cooked and love that it has such a mild flavor. It was exceptional. Really good tartar sauce here (very important) and I liked their brand of malt vinegar, not too strong. Truly everything was perfect. Lastly, I will say they also had the best music playing in the background! Compliments to whoever picked their background music lol. It's not loud but just subtle enough that you could see heads bobbing to the music and I loved every song. The vibes were good and honestly this was my favorite meal in Killarney. Definitely one for the books and I will definitely come back again some day.

The fish and chips is solid- you could choose cod or a different fish (eg haddock, hake), but I love cod so that's what I went with. Could tell it was fresh and good quality, meat was flaky but not overcooked at all. Chips just needed a dash of salt, it was a good serving size! This plate of fish and chips, mushy peas, and a drink was £22, which I think is fair for being in the middle of Killarney. Food also came out pretty quickly!
This was highly recommended from our tour guide. We had an early dinner and were seated right away. We had fish and chips, seafood chowder, a bowl of crab claws and an order of onion rings. Can't say it was the best, but we did enjoy the fish and chips. The seafood chowder was loaded with lotsa fish, actually it was a bit too much because all the fish were kinda dry. The crab claws sounded good on the menu but I don't recommend it because it got a bit rubbery after all the chewing. The only highlight of the meal is the fish and chips and also the crunchy onion rings.
Delicious. We walked in on a rainy Monday around 4pm to find the place empty. We were warmly greeted by a sweet lady and the chef. The haddock was recommended for the fish and chips so my friend and I both ordered that. The fish was perfectly fried and tasted so fresh. Drizzled with fresh lemon juice and dipped in their fantastic Tartar sauce, it was *chef's kiss*.

If you're looking for good seafood at a reasonable price, this is a good place to stop.
What a great place! The crab claws were buttery, garlicky and so good! Dip that bread in to the butter and it's even better. The prawns were good, the fries needed salt. Mushy peas were great. Service was amazing! Wait staff checked on us along with the manager. Small seating area but we'll worth the wait if you have to wait. Get the crab claws! You won't regret it
This was a recommendation from our tour driver. During the busy season, it's been said that queues up to an hour long have been seen and I can understand why. Upon entering, is the overwhelming fishy smell. (That's either a good sign, or a not so good sign). A small-ish place, we were seated promptly. Our order came put quick, almost too quickly. But, on our plates was #13 fresh haddock (no bones) and a large serving on fries. Very tasty and service was also great (and not a bad price at €13 a piece) (P.S. the onion rings were huge and the calamari looked fantastic)
Came here for lunch while strolling through Killarney for the day, service was quick and food was delicious. I didn't realize the open shrimp sandwich would be cold so I was not prepared for it. However, it was plenty of food and very good. They were smaller sized shrimp. The side salad was a great surprise with a citrus dressing. My husband got the fish cakes and I have several bites as it was so tasty. There had a few menu items that were sold out so I was a little disappointed we didn't get in here earlier!
We went to Quinlan's on Monday, September 8. We did not have a reservation, so had a short wait. Despite being super busy, the staff was friendly and helpful. They were so on the ball with everything. Our food came out really fast once we ordered. The fish and chips were piping hot and delicious. I had the cod, while my husband had hake. We were able to grab a table during the busy dinner time. Best onion rings I've ever had. The fish and chips are also very delicious - I love the taste of the spice. The sea bass is a little plain, so I added extra salt and pepper to it. The server is apparently very busy but she's been paying attention to every table's speed and presented our entrees right after we finished our soup. Appreciate the service there. At the end of the meal, we were waiting to receive the bill but we were unsure whether we should wait to be served or walk to the counter to pay. We waited patiently for 15 minutes and decided to call a server and asked for the bill. Everything else is great! read more

We came here for dinner one night during our stay in Killarney. We started with a couple of seafood chowders which I thought was pretty good. It's served with a good brown bread. For my main dish, I got fish and chips with hake, but I substituted onion rings for the chips. I really enjoyed my meal. My parents said the chips weren't very good. My husband got the crab claws and loved them. It's a very small restaurant and it was pretty busy when we were there, but we didn't have to wait to be seated. We had good service as well. If you're looking for good seafood at a reasonable price, this is a good place to stop. read more

Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but it does nothing but fish & chips so I figured I would give it a try. I had the deep fried lemon sole special which was excellent!! And omg, mushy peas-where have you been all my life??? read more

Local restaurant small chain with a handful of restaurants in county Kerry and one in Cork. Simple menu with fresh fish, fish and chips, open face sandwiches and other seafood offerings. We had open faced shrimp sandwich with salad and a Irish salmon with chips, along with wine and cider. All well done. Delicious and simple. Very low key and casual. Highly recommended and seems to be a very popular place with a steady stream of patrons. read more
2nd night in a row for dinner. We came here on the recommendation from our hotel staff. There were lines both Monday and Tuesday night! They do not take reservations, so show up early. We sampled five dishes over the two nights. Pan fried Brill was our least favorite. The sauce overpowered the fish. Still a good meal. Crab claws were cooked perfectly in butter and garlic. Broken open so you could eat them like a Lollipop. This would not fill up the average person, so I had it with a bowl of chowder. The chowder ranks a some of the best I have ever had. Loaded with different types of fish. The smoked fish was especially tasty to me. The second night I had the Special Lobster and salad. The lobster was cut in half, and the claws were laying next to it, with a luscious salad. I would give this dish a four star rating. The sea bass was a flavorful dish with a choice of side salad or chips. We went healthy with the salad. All the seafood we had was fresh and prepared to perfection. read more
Amazing sea-to-table restaurant with a big variety of seafood options to choose from. I opted for classic cod fish and chips, my mom got squid and chips, and we were blown away by how fresh the catch was. Seafood by itself would be five stars! Food comes to your table piping hot but needs a generous sprinkle of salt. French fries were decent but nothing to write home about, and I think the fast turnover in this small restaurant (probably about 14 tables by my estimate) makes the staff feel a little rushed - though to their credit they never make you feel it as the customer. However, the table was not very clean when we sat down so I wondered if they had enough time to wipe it down thoroughly between guests. Service was prompt and very polite. read more

Being from California I've had Fish & Chips up and down the coast my entire life. Quinlan's easily compares to my favorite place (Barbara's Fish Trap) and definitely ranks in the top 3 places I've ever had Fish n' Chips. We came in the late afternoon in September, we didn't have long to wait, but I imagine during the prime lunch hours there would likely be a bit of time hanging out. It wasn't the cheapest meal, but boy was it worth every penny. The batter was perfectly crisp and fish was tender and flaky as it should be. At Quinlans you'll find hearty portions and top notch food. A must eat in Killarney! read more

Great local restaurant that was recommended by a family member. I went the soup/salad/Guinness route for lunch and everything was great. The seafood chowder was spectacular and the salad was about what I expected. Very affordable restaurant. read more

Was at the nearby AIB bank during lunchtime and the teller recommended this place. Despite most tables being taken, we were seated immediately (party of two). The waitress took our orders on a tablet and our food arrived shortly thereafter. I ordered #10 (Pan Fried Fresh Sea Bass) with the potato chips option. True to its name, the dish was pretty fresh. I tried a bit of the tartar with the fish toward the end, but it was great without it. The food can be a bit oily (especially the battered options) so consider salad/tea. read more

There'll be a potentially a wait around dinner time. Luckily, the service is good and the line will move quickly. The brochure at the table claims this is run by a conglomerates of fishermen rather than some corporation. Good thing they know how to make some awesome fish n' chips - in fact, the very best I've had to date. The batter was perfection - so crispy and golden; and the fish was so soft and tender. It tasted ridiculously and impossibly good. OH, the chowder was also decent but not really on the same plane as ze fish. read more

Recommended by multiple locals, this is the only restaurant I've seen in Killarney that regularly has lines out the door. Out of my 4 evenings in town, I've chosen this restaurant twice. My first meal was the haddock fish and chips with mushy peas. The fish was fresh, flaky, flavorful, and perfectly battered - not too greasy or thick. The chips were crispy and well cut. Mushy peas were rich and creamy though I seasoned with quite a bit of salt and pepper. It was an excellent meal. After sampling the fish and chips, I returned for the crab claws with another side of mushy peas. The crab claws were divine and served with fresh, thick cut brown bread perfect for soaking up the garlic laden butter. Hands down the best seafood I've had in 10 days within the Ring of Kerry. Never fear, the lines move fast and the wait staff seem very consciousness of families with children. read more

My fiancé and I had been planning to go here for fish and chips during our 2 day stay in Killarney. We ended up going the evening of St Pats day since it was too crowded the other 2 times we attempted to go. We still had to wait but only for a few minutes - this place is pretty small and popular. The chowder was delicious with real chunks of fish and both those of fish we had (haddock and hake) were fluffy and pipping hot! If you're all chipped out, go for the onion rings! I wish we'd have both ordered a side of them. They don't serve alcohol so make sure you're not in the mood for a drink when you head here...lots of other options around for that! read more

I saw the great reviews so we went in. Sat down and got a little worried because it looked like a regular fried fish and chips place but I shouldn't have worried. Ordered the smoked salmon and a side of mushy peas. My friend got the prawns and chips. Salmon was served with capers and there was a mixed greens and shaved carrot salad topped with honey mustard dressing. It was a generous serving of smoked salmon and of great quality; salad was fresh and good. Mushy peas had a good flavor. Chips were very good- almost had a yucca flavor. I tried the prawns and decided they deserved better than a deep fry because of the high quality. Would get all the same dishes next time. read more
This restaurant was a fish and chips recommendation by a friend familiar with Killarney restaurants. The restaurant is small with limited seating. They offered several choices of fish. I had the haddock meal deal that included the fish, chips, and mushy peas. The batter on the fish was crisp and not excessively heavy. The chips were well-done, crisp but not excessively greasy. I enjoyed the mushy peas. The peas were fresh, and the mush was good. I'd gladly return to this restaurant and recommend it to others who like fish and chips. Those who don't like fish should go somewhere else. read more

Wow! The Hake fish and chips here are delicious. We ate here on our first day in town and Loved it so much we are eating it again before heading out. Absolutely recommend this place. read more

My husband and I came here because many people spoke about how tasty everything is. I was a bit weary just because of how "nice" it looked that it may not live up to expectations. I was wrong! Simply the best fish and chips I've ever had! If you're in the area you have to go. read more
