Murphy's has great character and friendly service. It's a pub and a restaurant, but the atmosphere is definitely dark and pub-like. Very noisy when busy, but that's part of the fun! Music starts at 9pm. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had fish and chips, the stuffed chicken and sticky toffee pudding. Washed it all down with a couple of Guinness and a Red Spot whiskey! It was a lovely meal.
Had an absolute blast checking this place out when in Killarney!! The food was very good. I had the seafood chowder and the chicken panini (toastie), both were great. The service was incredible, the man working as the host/waiter had an amazing personality and was super friendly. I wish I had gotten his name, but he deserves recognition. The ambiance was great and the live music was awesome. Definitely a fun place to check out when in the area!
Local pub and restaurant with darts. It was convenient to eat here as we were staying at Murphy's Townhouse, and they also have their breakfast service here. We had dinner here our first night in Killarney and they had big portions for the food. I got the Irish chicken Parmesan which came with a Spanish slaw and chips. My friend liked her burger and we split a brownie with vanilla ice cream as dessert. The atmosphere is laidback and casual (as most pubs are). Credit cards are accepted. There are public restrooms available. They were setting up for a darts competition later that night, and based on the winners record on the wall, people take it seriously.
If you're ever in Killarney, this place is an absolute must! Their food is always hot and delicious and the live music, if you're lucky enough to catch it, is classic Irish, engaging and full of spirit. They even honored my requests! This is a great spot for lunch and/or dinner, right on the main strip close to everything. The Seafood Chowder was SO GOOD! Three different types of fish, plus mussels and prawns make this a hearty, favorful and satisfying dish.
Absolutely love this place. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bar is super cute and the food very good. And the service - excellent!
It was Christmas Eve, and we had wandered in. We were too late for food, but it was just so serendipitous that they were still open (the only place on the street). Staff was lovely and towards the end of the evening, some of the other patrons were definitely getting jolly. We didn't want to keep staff too late minding tables, so we left after a few pints. Definitely on the list to come back and visit during a different time of year.
We were looking for a good Irish pub and found this place over night, but there was a 45 minute wait. We were already pretty hungry, so we came back the next day with a reservation. It turns out we didn't need the reservation the next day, but oh well. My husband wanted to start with the garlic cheese bread which was pretty good. Since we had been in Ireland for a few days, I felt like I needed to try some traditional Irish food, so I got the Beef and Guinness Stew. It was very good and I really enjoyed it. It was full of flavor -- the Guinness made the gravy very good. My husband got the Crispy Bacon and Smoked Cheese Beef Burger which he thought was just ok, but mostly because of the law that all burgers have to be cooked well done. My dad got the Traditional Irish Stew which was ok but lacking a bit in flavor. It's a pub, so is can get crowded and when it does, it is quite loud which isn't surprising. All in all, I enjoyed my meal, the service was good, and I would come back again.
This was the perfect place at the perfect time to an experience of the quaintness of Killarney. The street is dotted with pubs but this one stood out to us. They have a restaurant area and then I discovered that they had a huge Pub area that featured live music in the evening. We enjoyed a rainy night dinner that hit the spot. Of course we had to try the traditional seafood chowder accompanied by the traditional Irish stew. The best place to quench our culinary taste for Irish food. And of course that meant having absolutely amazing Red Ale. The Irish stew was more soupy then gravy which was a bit surprising but none the less it hit the spot. The best thing about this place was their homemade brown bread that was made with stout beer. After our dinner we headed over to the pub area to hear a traditional Irish jam band play the tunes that every American travels across the pond to hear. It was absolutely perfect! Well done!

Killarney Murphy's (Irish pub) We luckily walked in and got a table without any problems It was 1800 hours Being from Texas we had to get guacamole/chips -- which were surprisingly good but they were expensive 15euros I ordered the beef and Guinness plate and was surprisingly served an incredible dinner--freshly colored vegetables, tender pieces of beef along with lucscious brown gravy and a scoop of mashed potatoes plus some brown bread The dish was so tasty that I used the accompanying brown bread to soak up as much gravy as possible ---I highly recommend this restaurant read more
This review is for the restaurant not the pub. We came for lunch and found all the usual Irish pub offerings. The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people. read more

If you're ever in Killarney, this place is an absolute must! Overall a nice place to visit. Food was good, service was slow, as are most places in 2022. Drinks were easier to order from the bar than wait for table service. Bartender was fast and very good at what he was doing. If you have patience go and enjoy it. read more

We stopped in for dinner Monday night. The atmosphere was inviting & service was great. The sirloin had delicious flavor but came out a bit more cooked than I ordered. We ordered the chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert..... WOW so good! The chocolate cake came out warm with chocolate fudge icing. The dollop of real whip cream & scoop of ice cream were the perfect addition to the cake. Now my favorite part was that our waitress gave us a soft pick tooth pick with our bill. Ironic thing is earlier that day I was upset that I forgot to pack my soft picks on this trip... Thanks Murphy's! read more

On a trip with my mother in Kalarney. We wanted a bite to eat early after our tour of the Ring of Kerry. We chose this because it was close to our hotel. We walked in and we got the wings there for an appetizer. One of the best types of wings I've ever had. So crunchy and crispy but had a great flavor to them. I didn't even need to use the blue cheese. But but for entrées huge disappointment. Food was bland overcooked and very chewy. We should've realized this was a pub and we should've stuck the pub food. Stick with apps only. read more

What a place for Irish stew. Yum. This quaint little pub is huge on flavor. I am a fan of dark beer and they had a Murphy's beer here that to me was better than Guinness. I wish I could find it here in the states. This is a Cozy little place that had both tourist and locals in it. The waitstaff was helpful with recommendations but if I went back I would have the stew again. The meat was tender the flavor was through the roof. One of my top dining spots in Ireland. read more

Was let down after a couple locals guided us here. They said get the seafood chowder. Was just OK, a bit thin if you ask me. Had top notch chowder in 3 other places over in Dublin. Others at our table said their meals were OK. read more
