We were supposed to meet up with a friend here while we were in Killarney, but after we'd arrived, he texted that he couldn't make it. We decided to have a quick drink anyway. Let me tell you, this place is huge, and its quite easy to get lost!! We wandered to the back bar, which is where the live music was going to be taking place in an hour or so, and ordered a whiskey for my husband (I can't remember which kind he ordered, we tried SO many amazing whiskeys!) and an espresso martini for me. This was the most delicious espresso martini I had up to that point! Staff was grand. If we weren't old people and tired from a long day, we'd have stuck around for the live music. Next time!! We definitely plan to return.

In my travels along south Ireland, we stopped in Killarney for lunch. They offered a nice town area and public parking to shop. We saw a coffee shop but it had ajoining restaurant and pub and noticed you could enter each from the front but they adjoined in the middle with a great interior design concept from a old mercantile in its past life. They had tables that mimicked train cars and rooms around hidden corners with tables that each was unique. As you locate the patio, it is also designed colorfully for events and has a party atmosphere vibe. We had a house chicken sandwich with the best side of lettuce and cucumbers in a delightful vinaigrette that I will remember for a while. Since it was a holiday season and a bit cold happily, they offered mulled wine, which hit the spot perfectly since its a warm, fragrant drink. I was very happy to find this place and so will you so stop in if you're in the area.

The food was excellent and the service beyond excellent. We wanted to relax and chat at our meal and the staff didn't rush us, made us feel welcome to stay and chat as long as we liked. My sister ordered the Cesar salad without chicken and they pointed out that the dressing contained anchovies (was not vegetarian) and offered a cheese substitute for the chicken.

Fun place to pop in for a craft cocktail or beer. Tried to come in in the evening (way packed) so made another try mid-afternoon. Really glad I did as I was able to enjoy the cozy ambiance, sit outside, and people watch. Definitely pop in for at least one if you're in the area.

Our go to place for breakfast, lunch or afternoon meal. This is the best bakery in County Kerry! Friendly staff. quirky settings with fun designs. Highly recommend!

Great fish and chips and fish tacos and of course a pint of Guinness! Loved the wonderful history of the pub and the really cool lavatory!

This place was highly recommended by the locals, we decided to join the wait list line that in no time got us seated in a very quaint tiny booth. I asked our host what was his favorite dish and he highly recommended the special, a spicy calzone. He told us that they have a pizza oven that earns his keep. I said, why not! Orders it and my goodness, it was absolutely incredible!! The pints kept coming and the night was perfect'. They also pride themselves in having live music but we didn't get to enjoy it as we left before he started playing. Great place! They also have coffee in the morning, we had been told it would be open at 8am and showed up to be told it was actually 8:30, so we walked around the quaint little downtown area. We went by again at 8:31 and they sent us off with give us another 5-10 minutes because we are still cleaning...well, we found two others close by who were actually eager for business. This is why they don't get the 5 stars....

This is the spot to hit in Killarney. The left side is a bakery/coffee house with these cute private booths decorated with old time pictures and goods. The inside lace had an amazing vibe. You could feel the history. The lattes were delicious and the scones were the best we've had. The service was friendly and quick. The building is huge. Make sure to take a tour around the whole thing. It's really a gem. There are so many little nooks and private rooms to entertain in. The inside bar was inviting. The outdoor space is enormous. Definitely stop here, even if it's just to take a look.

It was an early evening so there wasn't much going on. Low crowds and some live music in the back. I loved the table booth in the front window. Very nostalgic place. Feels like you're at your grandmas in the 60's.

Mac and cheese

I had the best Mac and cheese of my life at JM Reidy's! The place is huge but somehow feels cozy and intimate with lots of little nooks and private booths. Our server was super quick and friendly and taught me how to pronounce Smithwick's properly. My husband had a burger with peanut butter on it which sounded odd but tasted delicious. A great place to grab a bite of just drinks!

Nachos

Delicious lunch/brunch we ordered nachos and beans on toast. Super yummy did not disappoint. The atmosphere is truly charming. I am from California and have a lot of experience with Nachos and guacamole. This was made by someone who has great knowledge of southwest flavors. The guac was perfect

The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people.

Music starts at 9pm. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had fish and chips, the stuffed chicken and sticky toffee pudding. Washed it all down with a couple of Guinness and a Red Spot whiskey! It was a lovely meal.

The space is good sized and features several dining areas and a decent sized bar. Decor and overall vibe is your classic Irish pub with lots of dark woods, soft lighting and grandiose fixtures and dividers. We initially bellied up the bar to grab a pint and cocktail while we waited for our table to be ready. After about 20 minutes, the staff came and whisked us away to a small table just off the main entrance. The table was not that comfortable, but they are doing everything they can with every inch of space they have, and we were just happy to be there! While bellied up to the bar, we enjoyed a pint of Guinness and the Apple & Honey cocktail. The Guinness was perfection, and the cocktail was tasty. The food menu has all the classics from toasties to stew and even fish and chips. We started our meal with the trio of croquettes. They were okay and plating was a bit odd as the salad and veggies that accompanied the croquettes were more visible and focus than the actual croquettes. While the trio was all different, the taste profiles were very similar for each one. For our mains, we both went with sandwiches. I got the Prime Sirloin Steak and my partner got the Ham, Cheese and Tayto. Steak was well cooked, bread was a great vessel, however more sauce would have been welcomed. The toastie was classic, no frills and hit the spot. Service was okay. Not very efficient or helpful, but also not awful or unfriendly. Was odd enough to notice, but not bad enough to ruin the visit. Overall, a fair rating is 3.5 for O'Donoghues. Given no half stars, they get the fourth. It is a good location and is just okay. We wouldn't go out of our way to visit again, but also wouldn't go out of our way to avoid.

We stood in what was a service area, the bartender asked us to move very politely. We tried to find a place to stand out of the way, the bartender came out from behind the bar to bring a stool for us. That was so sweet, just then the host found us the take us to our table. We very much appreciated the effort made by the bartender. Loved the drinks, btw. We sat down and looked over the menu. Decided on the burger and soup and sandwich combo. The burger was really good, made with Irish Hereford beef. It was so beautiful on the plate and tasted great. I got the soup abd sandwich of the day. It was a carrot soup (carrot and something else, I can't recall) and a toasty of ham and cheese with Tayto chips. Both the soup and sandwich hit the spot. It was a beautiful pub, lots of cute areas, I even saw an armored suit when I went to the bathroom. I found the menu prices very reasonable. 9.50 euro for soup, sandwich and chips (crisps).

Cronins sits on a Main Street through Killarney and feels like old world Ireland from the road to the table. It has a storied past in Killarney, being open over 60 years at this point. The space is as you would expect, cozy, local and welcoming. The menu is rooted in local ingredients including seafood, beef and veggies. We popped in for an early dinner and had an appetizer of the Smoked Irish Salmon, which was fresher than expected. Such a simple dish, but it was executed perfectly. For our mains, we had a burger and the Shepard's Pie. Burger was good. It was juicy, well cooked and the onion relish thing they had going on was *chefs kiss*. The Shepard's Pie was spot on. Both were made with local beef, which was cool and extra tasty! Beyond the food, Cronins also has their own cider, which was phenomenal and oddly enough, the only cider I had the whole time I was in Ireland! That speaks more to the hold Guinness had on me and less to the variety of cider. After the cider, we went with a few house cocktails including the Clover Club and Dingle Donkey. Both were well prepared, vibrant and tasty! Service was uniquely local, friendly and fun! From the bartender to our server, they were both excellent! Overall, Cronins is a stellar spot in a great spot in Killarney! When we get back over the pond and to Killarney, Cronins is on the list to swing by again!
