We were looking for some Irish food and decided to stop in to Danny Mann when we walked by. The place is clean and spacious. Our server must have been new because He seemed a little unsure about things, but in general, did a decent job. We ordered the cottage pie (Shepherd's pie) to share. It was plenty for both of us and was delicious. It came with fries which were hit and crisp. We were too early for the live music, so we will have to catch that another time. read more

The Danny Mann Pub was absolutely wonderful! We were on a bus tour of Ireland and asked our tour guide to recommend a place with great food and great live music. He was spot on when he recommended The Danny Mann!! I had the best Cottage Pie I've ever had and enjoyed it in such a relaxing atmosphere. The musician was excellent too! He was engaged with the crowd and took requests. He played every song we asked for. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves so much that we ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees. When we were leaving the musician asked where we are from (North Carolina) and he said he'd been in NC once to play a show at Duke University. We both work for Duke University!!!! Wanted to hear some live traditional Irish music and this place was recommended by our hotel. Live music started at 9pm, our group of four arrived at 8:30pm and we lucked out getting a table right in front by the stage. The service was one of the best in Ireland! As soon as we sat down we were greeted and placed a drink order. Jameson and ginger all around. Our drinks never got empty.... the server was always checking in and getting us another round. He earned a well deserved tip. The live music was entertaining, lots of traditional songs and audience participation. The performers asked questions to the audience, who was their celebrating birthdays and anniversaries ( then would do a song) They asked if anyone was from the US, a few of us raised our hands... they then asked us where. We had so much fun at the Danny Mann! We had been hoping to listen to some Irish music but as most pubs offer it late in the evening and children are not allowed in pubs after 9, we hadn't had the chance to partake. Since this was a restaurant AND a pub that law didn't apply. (We asked to be sure) We would have been happy with average food, but we're pleasantly surprised by how delicious our meals were! We got the cottage pie which was the best we've had in Ireland. The seafood chowder was also tasty (but a bit thinner than I prefer) and even the sausage and fries kid meal my daughter got was outstanding. They added some blackcurrent cordial syrup to her water (nonalcholic) which she loved. I enjoyed my Orchard thieves cider and my husband started with Guinness and then moved on to some other local crafts. We went about 8pm for dinner and then stayed for the music at 9pm. We had the best of time here tonight along with the most entertaining. Big thank you to Darren who caught onto our code word of "white whiskey" as the alternative drink (water) for the man who had too much to drink. Darren (sp?) was an amazing bartender who was attentive to our needs and patient with our American orders. We thoroughly enjoyed the live music and professional bartenders. My daughter and I arrived about 6 pm on a Friday night...the place was about 1/2 full. Took staff a bit to seat us, and from then on they seemed very harried, ie short of staff. Noticed the wait staff had to do everything...including bussing their own tables, mixing up Irish coffee drinks, etc. That said, the place filled up fast and we enjoyed the antics and friendliness on a few young guys there for a stag party. My daughter had the vegetable lasagne and I had the Guiness Beef stew. Both were delicious. The two entrees, 1 starter and 1 beer came in at around 40 euros. read more

Superb food, good company, talented entertainment! Traveling through Killarney and ended up staying at Eviston House Hotel and it was recommended to eat here and there would be entertainment at 9PM. At first we didnt know if we could take a table, but was quickly discovered and taken to a table in which, we quickly got our drinks ordered (1 coke and 1 Fuzzy Leprechaun...oh Lord, I know!) Then everything looked so delicious, but finally decided on the guinness meat casserole and my son got the burger, and we were amazed! The food was so good, I tried stuffing myself even though I was done! The entertainment was excellent the night we came with families pouring in continuously until we left, and singing along and just the atmosphere was so inviting, this was exactly what I was looking for on this trip! Nice to look at. Food was very underwhelming. We had a group of 9 from a tour. We had a set menu which was the first mistake. Kind of like wedding food...not hot and bland. Probably the best Irish food I've had in Ireland. I shared the lamb burger and the lamb stew with a friend and it was seriously amazing. We came into the restaurant and were told by the staff to sit where ever we wanted. Once seated about 5 minutes later we were given menus and that was it for about 10 minutes. Not even a drink order. There were only about 4 other tables in the entire place. Staff walked past us 4 times. The 4th time, we left. Excellent food, traditional music & super friendly staff! Highly recommend the seafood chowder & it's large enough to share for sure as a starter or a solo meal. Perfect consistency...not too thick & not too thin. Living in California, we've eaten a ton of fish chowder & never had one this good! The lamb burger rocks! Again, highly recommended!!!!!! Be hungry though! It's seasoned so well you can literally eat it on its own & it tastes very similar to a traditional hamburger, not gamey at all!!!! Most lamb burgers need a strong cheese or sauce to accompany the lamb flavor but this didn't at all! Amazing! The harissa mayo carries an excellent flavor & not spicy at all, considering it's made of chili peppers! Onions were great too! Staff was so friendly like all the people we encountered in Ireland! After a long day driving the Ring of Kerry, my friends and I need to re-energize ourselves with dinner. We looked on trip advisor for some suggestions and finally agreed upon this gem. There service was not great but after speaking with the waitress she informed us that two servers called out sick so they were extremely short staffed. They had a total of three wait staff and the floors after running all over the place. They did their very best to provide good service. Unfortunately the service is suffer because of this. Now on to the food! .... Talk about being delicious! I stated off with the Rosette of Oak smoked Salmon with potato pancakes. It was a perfect sized starter dish and light. The fish portion with just perfect. The main dish was the Confit of Barbury Duck with potatoes, carrots, and broccoli. The duck was not fatty at all. The flavor was very deep and the sauce was amazing. I really enjoyed this dish! Unfortunately my phone ran out of battery and I was unable to take pictures of the food. The atmosphere was so much food. They had a live singer who played non stop for several hours. He sang true Irish songs in which we were all able to sing along with. I took my family of six here for dinner. Food was ok. The only benefit was the price. I ordered the early bird special which was an appetizer and main. For the appetizer was breaded mushrooms, they seemed like premade and were just warmed up. For the main course, I got the earb encrusted pork loin with gravy. The gravy seemed to be canned and was the same gravy that was on my wife's chicken. I think the only person who really enjoyed there meal was my son who ordered the cottage pie and it looked decent and he said was good. We were hoping for live music during dinner, but that didn't start until 9pm as the night before we walked by at 6:30pm and there was a gentleman playing the guitar and singing Irish music He was really good. The staff gets 4 stars The bar/restaurant area was nice and warm and they get 4 stars The food..... the food was subpar barely edible and it gets 1 star. Everything tasted store bought. Go to the store, buy a box of frozen food and then deep fry it. Serve it with a bottled sauce and you can duplicate the food here. The nachos tasted like a can of chili poured on chips and then microwaved with shredded cheese. The Cesar salad had lettuce cores in it and the chop on the lettuce had no consistency. The dressing also tasted store bought. Get a new chef and this place would be cool. read more

The brochure said "Traditional Irish Music" every night so my wife and I went for that reason. got there as the musician walked in and looked like what we wanted. After ordering and getting the food quickly the musician played two quick Irish songs then told the restaurant that people working there hear irish music each night and that he was going to change it up. He then went to share deep thoughts on tourists, guns, and school shootings and played "thunder rolled" along with a few other American music. Definitely not what we were looking for. Our food was Ok but overpriced. the beef stew was very good and the catch of the day fish and chips was a soggy filet. For 47 Euros for two was on the pricy side but would have been worth it for some good music and atmosphere. We got into town late and the woman at our hotel told us the Danny Mann's kitchen was open until 10pm. When we got there (around 9:25) the kitchen was closed. We asked the bartender where we could get food at that hour and he said only take away would be available. So we ordered a few drinks to figure out where to go. Moments later, the bartender came back to let us know he called the kitchen and they would cook for us. What a sweet gesture! The cottage pie was perhaps the best meal I've had in Ireland thus far. The other reviews are spot on. The service is really slow even when there are barely any people and the food takes forever to come out after ordering and then it's small and not that good. The server we had couldn't tell us what an item on the menu was. I think it took about 20 minutes to be able to get someone over to our table to get our order in, despite being 2 of about 6 patrons in the entire place, and then another 30 (THIRTY!!) minutes for a sandwich and fish & chips to come out. The vegetarian panini was whatever - the bread was okay, the goat cheese good, but missing 1 of the 3 ingredients (basil pesto). Couldn't get a server's attention and frankly was too tired of waiting at that point. The salad that came with it wasn't more than 2 or 3 bites. The fish portion was very tiny and not very good, and the chips were exactly what goes wrong with steak fries - mushy, mealy, and bad. read more

This is a big popular place, so getting spot on service is going to be difficult. That said, the food and deserts were quite good. They have live music starting at 9pm. Evan was an incredible waiter who was able to give us menu recommendations (the Cottage Pie was absolutely delicious!) and tell us some other good spots in Killarney.
