Best corned beef and cabbage I've ever had. Excellent service and friendly atmosphere. Very reasonable prices.

Food/Cost: (4) I came here with my traveling companion for an early dinner last Saturday night, while looking for some traditional Irish fare. The front desk staff member at our hotel had recommended Murphy's and I'm happy we took his advice. Both my friend and I ordered the Irish Stew (13.50 euros) which came with the traditional side of brown bread. The stew was thick and hearty -- superb. There was plenty of lamb meat and carrot chunks in the stew, served over mashed potatoes underneath. The portion was quite large as well; despite how amazing both the stew and bread it tasted, I could not finish some of the lamb and half the bread. I felt that my dinner justified the price. Ambiance: (5) I liked the traditional pub decor and atmosphere: the hum of conversation was loud, but not overly so; everyone was bustling around and there seemed to be activity from both patrons and restaurant staff alike; the place was dimly lit like a pub should be; and it was clean and respectable. Location: (5) Murphy's is located in the middle of one of the main streets in Killarney, College Street. Accordingly, its in a well lit and bustling area regardless of the time of night. Service: (3.5) Both Murphy's and it's sister bar/restaurant were full when we first arrived, but we got a table about 15 minutes later, which isn't too bad of a wait, even for impatient people like myself. However, after we were seated, there was no waitress to be found, and we (along with the table next to us) had to wave a waitress down to place our orders. A different waiter brought us our food and came to check on us once throughout our meal. He seemed nice enough, but was very quiet. Overall: (4) Murphy's has the total package. They have great food, a likely atmosphere, and is located an easy walk from many of the hotels in Killarney. The service wasn't spectacular but it was decent, and I'm not willing to discount this restaurant just because of it. read more

Medium sized pub. They stated there would be a 30 minute wait however after sitting at the bar for 10 we were seated. Staff was attentive. Penne pasta and cottage pie was wonderful. The pasta was a bit spicy but again it was very good. The menu had many different options compared to the typical pub menu I kept running into in Killarney. Will return. read more

Great pub with Great music at night, a fancy restaurant upstairs and hotel rooms above that! Murphys pretty much has it all! And at night they had bands that played the most traditional Irish music in Killarney that we found. The bar was warm, cozy and the service staff was amazing! Dinner at Lord Kenmares (the fancy restaurant upstairs) was GREAT!!!!! We ordered steaks as we were told thats a great Irish cuisine and they were perfectly cooked. The flavor was out of this world and the service was excellent as well. It was a little pricey but, it is kinda fancy so thats to be expected. The hotel rooms are on the 2nd floor (above the resturant) and no noise from the bar was heard. The room was a bit cold and when we tried to heat up via the furnace, we discovered the furnace loudly screeched so....we dealt with the cold and turned that furnace back off LOL. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were hard, flat and lifeless. Other than that our stay was fabulous! Murphys is situated on the main drag in Killarney which is really close to the Ring of Kerry (which we drove part of the next day). There are tons of shopping, eating and bar options within a stones throw of Murphys and a parking lot accross the street. I walked in not knowing what to expect (just saw it was #2 in this area on Yelp) and I was not disappointed! I sat at the bar and ordered the buffalo mozzarella salad to start with and it was full of flavor! Then I tried the corn beef with cabbage, potatoes, and turnips (my first time having them) and it was very good! I washed it all down with a refreshing Guinness and enjoyed the bartender, Tom, who was a delight. I recommend coming here. read more

They have Guinness and a very solid beef-n-Guinness stew, which was exactly what I wanted when we went here. We also tried the seafood chowder -- delicious with huge chunks of salmon and fresh mussels. I only docked a star because they didn't have a good amplification system for the live music, and we were in the back of the very-crowded bar area and couldn't hear a thing. We ended up leaving :-\ If you're in Killarney and looking for legit Irish food with a live music scene, definitely check it out, but try to stake out a spot near the musicians or else you may be disappointed. read more

Typical Irish pub....great service and cool decor. We noticed it was the only pub a little busy at 5:45pm on Monday and our Airbnb host told us to try it. The Irish Seafood Chowder was the best Chowder I've ever eaten (I will be stopping in tomorrow to have another). It was filled with seafood and piping hot! Almost wish it were a winter day. We had lunch here upon arriving in Killarney at the recommendation of a good yelp review and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was that of an authentic Irish pub. I had the Panko breaded hake which was very good. The Panko breading was lighter than the traditional batter breading and the fish tasted very fresh. The side salad had a delicious dresssing and the fries were also good. My husband had the cottage pie with vegetables and it was also tasty. One thing to remember is that kitchen service does begin at 12:30 pm so you might be disappointed if you arrive earlier. read more

This place looks like any random pubs, but we had a wonderful dinner here. Try the beef and Guinness stew and the beef Stroganoff. The bar man that night seemed gruff at first but turned out had an endearing wit. Like that uncle who seems scary but is a softie. Stopped by after our Torc Waterfall hike. Parked in a paid lot behind College St. Had the Traditional Irish stew with lamb potatoes and carrots. Not gamey at all and comforting in the cold weather. Husband had the chili con carne and was very happy. Service was great at about 1p on a Friday afternoon. Our bartender allowed us to try a sip of Ireland's red lemonade and even allowed us to purchase a bottle of it from them. Comforting food and great staff. Can't beat that! read more

It's been difficult to find a space for a party of 9 but Murphy's was the right choice. We were seated nicely at the front. Although the drink menu is limited to whiskey, wine and beer, I was happy with a glass of wine. Most folks went with burgers , I went traditional Irish casserole which was delicious and so far best I have had in Ireland. Meat was very tender and made all the difference between best and better. This should really be listed as a bar though they do have an excellent hotel as well as I hear. The ambiance of the bar is really what makes the place. It's a traditional Irish place and it's quite brilliant. It is one of the top pubs in Ireland as I heard before coming here and as recommended by my hostel (Neptunes hostel). I came in early in the day because I missed the ring of Kerry tour (leaves at 11 from the tourist office in town) and tried some of the food and a pint of Murphy's. Both were really great. The whole town is pretty expensive (for a college student) and their prices are normal for the town. read more

Walked into our first Killarney bar/restaurant. Nice rustic atmosphere loved hear the local Irish accent at the bar. Great fresh beer. I had the Smithwicks and my husband the Killarney IPA. Our group of four were looking for a light supper and we chose Murphy's because I searched for the best Caesar salad in Killarney and their name came up! And we were very lucky to get a seat for dinner as Murphy's was full from the moment we sat down with a steady stream of customers the entire time we were there. We stayed at the hotel portion of Murphy's. It was one of the smaller rooms I've been in and the bathroom was tiny. The wifi worked pretty well. We ate dinner in the upstairs restaurant twice and both time the dinners were excellent. Their steak was delicious and their desserts looked and tasted like a 5 star restaurant. We drank in their classic Irish pub and had a great time. We ate breakfast down in the pub on two mornings and that was good. I don't know if I would stay here again but I would definitely eat and drink here again. read more

Great bar, great staff. Every bar in Killarney has a locals feel and this bar has the local feel. Everyone was extremely nice. Tried some 18 year old Jameson. Great. We also had the seafood chowder. Big chunks of fish. The chowder in Ireland is more watery than in the states so be prepared for that. This one was a little more watery than the others. We encountered a wait for a table, but waited it out at the bar where we chatted with a very friendly local couple. The overall atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. When a table opened up, my husband and I both ordered the cottage pie and we were not disappointed. Great dinner in Killarney. Took Yelp suggestions and got the seafood chowder, Irish stew and cottage pie. Was all delicious, served piping hot (we burned our mouths!) with lots of yummy brown bread. Was reasonably priced, came out quick, good service, convenient location and tasted fresh and homemade. Stew was my favorite! Read few reviews of people saying wasn't good/fresh which I think is crazy. Glad I ordered it, nothing not to like. read more

Came here for dinner on the recommendation from the guy at the Jameson distillery. We were not disappointed. Really wanting to try local fare this place was it....had a 5 star kitchen that put out amazing food. I had the Shepard pie that was amazing.. tons of ground beef and great flavor. My wife had the pot roast.. tender beef and plenty of it. We also shared the mussels..growing up only ever having PEI mussles these were amazing..also shared the seafood chowder...highly recommended read more
