Stonechat restaurant

Probably our favorite meal in Ireland. Loved the lamb shank and fish and chips. Drinks and service were fantastic. Highly recommend.

Quaint little street. Sit outside and enjoy a pint here is a must

Best fish and chips I had while in Ireland. It's off the beaten path on a little alley street. Very unique little place where locals and tourist who know about it go. If you go in you'll see pictures of the pub when it was pretty much the only place in town. Look at the decor for gorgeous details and they serve a great pint of Guinness here. Not to be missed

Amazing dinner, service and atmosphere an absolute delight! Soup prepared fresh, warm and inciting on a chili wet day. An abundance of colourful vegetables prepared perfectly in the stir fry.

Our bill. :)

Fun eclectic place. Hardwood floors. Stained glass and mirrors throughout. Candle light. Outdoor seating available.

Wanted to have dinner here. Was put off by a sexist advert saying that women going topless get a free beer. Thanks, but no thanks.

The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people.

Washed it all down with a couple of Guinness and a Red Spot whiskey! It was a lovely meal.

Tonight we started with the Loaded fries - chicken, bacon, cheese and the fires where perfect. The portion enough as an app for 4-5 easy. These were absolutely fantastic. Would consider ordering these as a meal! If you want to live on the edge try with a little brown sauce (packets on the table). It's basically like a milder A1 steak sauce but was nice with the fires and such. For me it was Irish beef stew for m - beef was tender not over cooked, carrots, celery and some opinion w mashed potatoes. our experience in Ireland so far is that the food is a little bland for our tastes. But they have salt and black/white pepper at the table and after a few shakes got it where I liked it. My wife was tired of shepherds pie, Irish stew and fish and chips so opted for the Hawaiian pizza. Like most pizzas we have seen in Ireland the outer crust is a little well done but she said the salty ham and pineapple with a generous amount of cheese hit the spot. Of course we had to have some Guiness and waiting on the music to start at 9....

The location has a full bar packed with delicate bottles of whiskey and a restaurant menu. Came here on a November evening with reservation. The Killarney was at quiet season so there were plenty of tables available. Seafood chowder: perfect thickness and texture, not overly gooey. The seafood tasted savory and fresh, and the texture was tender, so they were definitely NOT those frozen products most restaurants would throw into the chowder. Seasoning was spot-on. Chicken supreme: chicken breast with skin on. The skin was quite crispy. One slice of breast tasted quite juicy, the other side just slightly on the dry side. All other elements worked together very well. My friend's braised beef rib came in generous portion and very tender texture packed with red wine and gravy flavor. Only wish there were more gravy to go with the dish. After dinner, I grabbed a seat at the whiskey bar and had three drams of whiskey and a nice chat with the bartender who made the excellent recommendations and was apparently very knowlegeable about whiskey. All in all, a pleasant evening. Strongly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Killarney.

Cronins sits on a Main Street through Killarney and feels like old world Ireland from the road to the table. It has a storied past in Killarney, being open over 60 years at this point. The space is as you would expect, cozy, local and welcoming. The menu is rooted in local ingredients including seafood, beef and veggies. We popped in for an early dinner and had an appetizer of the Smoked Irish Salmon, which was fresher than expected. Such a simple dish, but it was executed perfectly. For our mains, we had a burger and the Shepard's Pie. Burger was good. It was juicy, well cooked and the onion relish thing they had going on was *chefs kiss*. The Shepard's Pie was spot on. Both were made with local beef, which was cool and extra tasty! Beyond the food, Cronins also has their own cider, which was phenomenal and oddly enough, the only cider I had the whole time I was in Ireland! That speaks more to the hold Guinness had on me and less to the variety of cider. After the cider, we went with a few house cocktails including the Clover Club and Dingle Donkey. Both were well prepared, vibrant and tasty! Service was uniquely local, friendly and fun! From the bartender to our server, they were both excellent! Overall, Cronins is a stellar spot in a great spot in Killarney! When we get back over the pond and to Killarney, Cronins is on the list to swing by again!
