Went over with some friends for a couple drinks, all I ordered was a shot and was the smallest shot I've ever had at a bar. I decided I wasn't ordering anymore because of how little they were pouring, and was charged a whopping $9 along with an additional $1 charge. I assumed it was a credit card charge but another friend said they didn't receive that charge, and also informed me that they were only charged $8 for the same shot that I had. Although I was upset, I still tipped 20% ($2). I was not planning to leave a review, however I was confronted with a $15 charge from Crickets on my bank statement! Of course I did not get a copy of my receipt, so I'm unable to dispute the charge. This experience was atrocious considering there's half a mile line each time I go out on Broadway. Absolutely ridiculous. An employee at Chimy's kicked me out for "standing in the wrong place" while we were literally sitting at a table. No professionalism, no explanation, just an attitude and a power trip. Instead of managing actual issues, this employee chose to harass paying customers. If this is how Chimy's trains their staff to treat people, don't waste your time or money. Worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. Can't enjoy one minute with the guy that has a mustache, tall and skinny. Even after he kicked us out he walked to the outside patio and blew a kiss towards myself and my group when we were already over it and leaving. Cricket's might be one of the scummiest bars I've ever seen. There are two lines to get in, one that requires a $25 minimum cover and a fake one that is meant to waste enough of your time so that you get frustrated and pay the cover for the other line. If you're lucky, one of the bouncers might let you in through the fake line if you slip them a cheap $100 bill. Seriously though, the line is just for show. If you truly want to go in, either go day drinking there or pay the $25 cover for the other line. Make sure you don't talk too much in the line either, because Officer Jody Barnes will boot you out of line if you sigh too loudly. This happened to two guys in line. One complained and the other breathed too loudly (they were not affiliated, but Barnes thought so). Why he gets paid with tax dollars to do the bidding of a private business is beyond me, but hey, whatever it takes to feel like a man right? read more

Absolutely terrible experience with bottle service. My friends and I have been here many times & have absolutely loved the bar, but the bottle service isn't worth it. From the moment we arrived, the door bouncers were rude and completely clueless about the venue's own rules and policies. We were told there was a $350 minimum -- fine -- but when we tried to coordinate our requests, no one was helpful except for the manager (it shouldn't have even gotten to the point of contact with the manager). The staff acted like accommodating us was a burden, not a responsibility. We had a reservation, but absolutely nothing was ready. No setup, no communication, no prep -- just chaos. To make matters worse, the glasses they gave us were dirty, with actual lipstick stains still on them. Disgusting. They asked for a headcount in advance and STILL didn't provide enough tables or chairs for our group. How does that even happen? It's basic planning. The staff gave us weird, backhanded comments when answering our questions -- not professional at all, just awkward and uncomfortable. And don't even get me started on their knowledge of laws and regulations. It's scary how misinformed they are. All around, the customer service was horrendous. Save yourself the headache and don't even spend the money. The waitresses & manager were very sweet, but you could tell there was still miscommunication between all of them. One of the workers were absolutely absurd to be talking to. So disrespectful she ended up kicking out multiple people that were over the age of 21 when she is 18. The girl, Michaela is 18 serving drinks to underage people as well. I think it's pretty embarrassing to be holding grudges over certain people just because you personal issues with them and not letting the them be served. read more

This place has so much potential but is clearly poorly managed. We were here on a Saturday night. Place was dead, bar was dirty. Pool tables were in terrible, filthy condition, very unlevel and extremely dirty. Our waitress could have cared less. She didn't know the menu or alcohol selections. We had to hunt her down for napkins and the check. Brought food with no utensils or napkins. Spent the entire time at the bar with her friends who got to play pool for free. It's who you know right?? To add insult to injury the food sucked and since the restaurant was so filthy we question the safety of our food. Time for some serious management here. read more

Cricket's seems to be a big go to bar on Broadway. Their karaoke nights are a hit, but their service, cleanliness, and drinks are what make this review more so brutally honest. Service was horrid. Nobody came to wipe down our table, so we did it ourselves. We watched a server check her phone more often than the tables. Food took over an hour to be served and wasn't worth the wait. The drinks were below average, little to no alcohol in them & bad flavor. The place definitely needed a good cleaning, especially their bathrooms. Something needs to change, I'm not sure if the servers even had designated areas to cover? We eventually flagged down a server to take our order, she did the best that she could especially with how lively it got in there. For reference, our most recent visit was in the early afternoon on a Saturday before the game. Overall, this is a messy, college bar. You can't have too high of expectations at places like this, but I feel as if it could've been a better experience. read more

Our experience here was horrible. When we walked in Chloe the "bartender" ignored us and went straight to another customer and left us waiting. I went to go buy another drink and nobody was helping me so I asked staff if anyone was working. They called down to her and she told me to "hang on" while she was on her phone and flirting with a customer. Absolutely terrible customer service and the prices are so inconsistent. Used to love this place in college. Went back tonight for the first time in 3 years and it was a zoo. It's pretty sad when your manager is taking sides in altercations between people at the bar all while smoking and drinking beer at a table next to us. Who hired this guy? There is good and bad with this review. Good news first, it is a large place and on Sunday's the pool and shuffleboard are free. Lots of TV's if you want to catch the game. Menu seems to have a good selection of tasty things. Now for the bad. We got here at 8:30 pm on a Sunday. The game room was full and the tables were half full. We had to go talk to a waitress and it still took :15 for her to come over to us. We ordered beer and food at the same time. It took another :10 for the beer to show up and the foam was all gone making our glasses look less than full. The glasses were also room temperature. Should have been cold. It took another :20 for the food. We ordered nachos and wings and a burger. The nachos came out on a big plate and were on foil. Sorry, but that's wrong. The cheese was sticking to the foil and were hard to get off without ripping the foil. They asked if you want sour cream and guacamole and then when the bill comes find out its $2 more. Shameful up charging. If it costs more you should mention that. The burger was ok but on the small side. It was delivered with fries that were less than tasty. When my buddy got his bill he was charged for fries separately. He didn't order fries, thought they came with a burger, like most other restaurants. They at least took them off his bill. I ordered the wings. I asked the waitress how many wings were in a regular order vs the large order and she didn't know, but guessed 8. When they came out the wings were the smallest things I've ever seen. Truly pathetic. The delivery waitress said there should only be 6 wings and that is a HUGE RIPOFF!!! For $9 there should be at least 10 wings. Or 8 big ones. And no veggies with the wings. The menu should have said how many there were. For $9 for 6 wings I'd order something else. Great place for college kids to hang out. It was very busy but the drinks came quickly bit the food was definitely delayed. The good thing is that we were kept in the loop with the food status. There is love music and games to play including, shuffle board, pool, a giant foue square, pinball and more! The house tacos were good (flour tortilla). Love the atmosphere!! I have no idea why I would pay $4.50+ for a PBR though!!! I get it that they might be one of the most diverse beer selections in town, but being form Los Angeles and my husband and I being Craft Beers gurus, we know our median beer prices and these are over the top. Even though we don't typically drink PBR, I was just curious and asked the price just to gauge the prices simply because there aren't any prices on their beer list menu. We love a good beer, but $17 for two 16oz basic Craft Beers is way too much! We unfortunately won't be repeat customers here, but I do have to say they must be doing something right because many people are paying their prices, and most were college kids here on a Thursday night. OK, maybe the value of this place is lost on people with the privilege of living in Austin, but feel free to visit, anyway. Yes, it is a typical college joint. Yes, the food is unimaginitive. Yes, the service occassionally sucks. But that's not the point. I used to live in Oregon, which is pretty much the microbrew capital of the nation, but even there, you'd be hard-pressed to find a single place that has a selection as badass as Cricket's. You could bar- and tavern-hop for weeks and get the same effect, but here, it's one stop. A whole wall of taps organized by type and place of origin. A HUGE SELECTION. Tons of bar gaming (a whole room of pool tables)! This place kicks unbelievable amounts of ass. The only thing Oregon bars & taverns have on this place is that they're closer to the source and therefore able to charge more reasonable prices. But it is Texas, and I feel lucky to have this many awesome beers at my disposal regardless of price. This place is like a holy oasis of hops in the middle of the Great Plains! read more
