Poor service. Owner on premises won't even stop by table to explain why he wouldn't credit bill for undercooked food untouched that had to be sent back. Server said "we can cook it some more if you want". Yeah that's the treatment to a large repeat party that will never go there again. Several other visits, mistakes on orders were made. The food was amazing. All of the staff was very friendly. It was also very reasonably priced for what we got. The only two complaints I would have is their steak knives were not very useful and were full and their mixed drinks where not filled and the glass was half empty, I think it was due to the type of glassware that they used. read more

I have been consistently disappointed with Crew. The first time I even walked into the place, two separate employees completely ignored me when I was just simply asking if there was a wait to get in! I finally got a sly no from an employee who still wasn't giving me any eye contact or any true acknowledgment that I even existed. I didn't even sit down that time but was just disgusted by how poorly I was treated at the door. But, I kept hearing rave reviews about Crew so I decided to give it another shot. Once we were seated ordered some appetizers which were good. I did really like the spinach and artichoke dip. The service though, again, was poor. Our waitress was not personable at all it almost seemed as though we were impeding on her personal time. She was not very knowledgeable about the menu. We got the impression that they were just trained to look pretty in those little dresses and thats it. When we were ready for the check we tried to pay half cash and half on our card but for some reason our waitress thought she deserved half the bill to be her tip! How ridiculous! She finally figured out how to retract the full bill to charge the right amount. Now, originally, I was going to put this rating at 3 stars but then found out that one of our guests got sick from the burger! We will NEVER go back to Crew! read more

This is one of the greatest restaurants in the area it is extremely friendly and comfortable. I eat lunch here very often and dinner at least once every couple of weeks. I have yet to have a meal that has disappointed. For dinner they always have a great choice for specials but it is hard to go wrong with almost anything on the main menu. I really enjoy having the chefs out in the open cooking and the wait staff is very attentive and professional. They also have a beautiful bar with many great wines and beers. Overall Tom and Becky do a phenomenal job and my wife and I will continue to frequent their restaurant. I travel a lot for work and always looking for a good place to eat at the of the day. I use Yelp to help me find them. Crew was very good. Service excellent although I went early so my experience might not be typical. I had the wild boar. Portion was large and I couldn't finish. So I asked them to take it back and the waitress started talking about us right in front of us to another waitress mocking us. Not good for buisness. It took me a little while to get to Crew even though I drive past it every day, and I wish I had discovered it sooner! I've been there twice now, and both times the food was out of this world. The atmosphere is definitely casual while modern and chic - last time we went around 7pm on a Friday and the bar area was packed and it was fairly loud. It didn't bother us - the crowd wasn't rowdy or anything, just a lot of people - but some older people next to us I think were having trouble hearing one another. Even though it was packed, we got great (even if it wasn't uber-professional) service. To start, they have a great wine and beer list here. They rotate the beer on tap, and it's always interesting micro-brewed stuff, no Bud or Coors. The wine list is nice too, and both times we have opted for a bottle of one of the "featured" wines and were not disappointed. Their bread is really, really good. Just crusty, plain old artisan bread, but you can tell it's baked in-house and it is truly mouthwatering. We had the goat cheese wonton appetizer and it was delicious - not too greasy, just the right amount of crunch and a slightly sweet sauce to go along with the bite of the cheese. I had their salmon special, and it was totally out of this world. There was some kind of beet sauce (and I am usually not a fan of beets) that was absolutely amazing, I was just lapping it up. It went perfectly with the salmon, which was of great quality and cooked perfectly. It came with perfectly roasted and seasoned veggies and this huge celery root cake (think a crab cake/giant potato pancake but with celery root) - I've never had anything like this, but it was sooo good. I was disappointed to have to order something else the second time, as salmon wasn't featured as a special, and opted for the orecchiette pasta, sans pancetta. It was garlicy and flavorful and the sauce was somehow unique even though it's not the most original dish on the menu. My boyfriend had the pork chop special the first time we went - it came with mashed sweet potatoes and he loved it, commented that the pork was tender and moist which is always a good sign. He's also had the filet with port sauce and the most interesting truffled potato croquettes...they were so light and smooth on the inside and crisp on the outside, with just enough truffle flavor to resonate without overwhelming - I wanted to steal them from him after he let me taste. Yum. I am not really a big dessert person, but I seriously had my favorite dessert EVER at Crew...it totally surpassed my expectations. I had the vanilla bean panna cotta with berries...SO GOOD. Perfect balance of vanilla flavors with an infusion of fresh lime in there somewhere (the lime wasn't mentioned in the description at all, so it could be off-putting to someone who doesn't like lime, but I LOVED the flavors so it was all good). The texture was so smooth yet light, and fresh berries on top despite the fact that it's December...mmm I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Overall, a clear five-star experience for me. The waitstaff seems young but they are very attentive without being overbearing and know the menu. The food has been consistently great, and we will definitely go back again. read more

My husband, myself and some friends stopped at Crew on our way to a wedding yesterday. We all had a cocktail and a couple of appetizers at the bar. Our bartender was very nice. Sounds great, right? Well, when it was time to leave we asked for the bill. It took quite a while and finally our bartender informed us that their system was down and could not process our credit cards. My husband did not want to leave our credit card info on a piece of paper as suggested by the bartender. We were scrambling a bit as we didn't bring our normal wallet/purse and had no debit card either and not a lot of cash. The manager/owner or whoever he was came over and said, "Your card isn't working" (which was incorrect, his computer wasn't working). "Don't you have a check book?" (Do people still carry checkbooks?). He actually got pretty nasty with us which was totally uncalled for being that the issue was with their system and not us. Luckily our friend had his debit card and went next door and got cash. He came back, the manager/owner did not apologize. He didn't offer to buy us a drink for our inconvenience (at this point we were late for the wedding) or offer to take even 10 bucks off the bill. While we are pretty laid back people the behavior of the manager/owner of Crew was rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional. The 8 of us will not be returning to Crew and we'll be sure to tell our friends not to either. read more

We should have turned around and walked out when the hostess told us she didn't have enough menus to give us one. But we didn't... We were seated in the tiny cove in the back and the two other tables back there had just been seated as well. After ordering dinner (no appetizers, no special drinks, nothing else), our waiter brought a small plate of bread. And then we sat and waited, and waited and waited. Our waiter came by several times and told us the kitchen was busy but our meals would be coming out soon. And while we waited we saw plate after plate of food being brought to a room in the back. Finally after an hour and 15 minutes it became obvious that we weren't going to get served, nor were the other tables next to us, and we got up and left. Ridiculous. If a restaurant is going to have a party so large that can't give the other customers decent service, then they should close the restaurant to the public for the evening or limit seating to something they can manage. What a lousy experience... and we weren't the only ones leaving. read more

Have stopped several times after golf at Casperkill. Nice clean, uncluttered atmosphere with some nice art work on the walls. Excellent selection of craft brews many you will not find elsewhere. Nobody carries selections from Schmaltz Brewery in Saratoga Springs. Great apps and entrees nicely prepared and great tasting. Most lunch items come with a nice sized salad with a superb dressing. Went to Crew for the first time today and will definitely be back. Can't say enough about the service. Sever was great and both Becky and Tom stopped at table to chat, and welcome us. Had a variety of apps, Goat Cheese Wantons, Chicken Satay and Spinach Dip. Everything was fresh, hot and as described on the menu. All portions were plentiful and enough for sharing. Both the BLT and the Ruben sandwich were the best we've had at resturants in the area. Bread was grilled perfectly, bacon and pastrami were well seasoned and sour kraut had a delicious tang. Salad was well dressed with just the right amount of dressing. Beer and drink menus had a huge variety of choices. We were too full for dessert , will have to go back to try some. read more

Crew = Fun. The atmosphere is friendly, fun and hip. But, here's what's great -- everybody gets to sit at "the cool table." The chefs are always changing the menu and trying new things. As a result, I have had a chance to taste some types of fish that I never knew existed before. The ingredients used are fresh and sourced locally whenever possible -- some of the herbs come from Crew's own garden. There is a full bar with a friendly and talented set of bartenders. They offer seasonal drinks like Apple Cider Martinis in the fall. It's a great place to meet friends, bring dates or have a couple's night. But, I have seen families with kids there too. Crew has an open-kitchen, so you can watch all the creativity at work, which definitely adds to the atmosphere. One night the whole restaurant (including the chefs) spontaneously began singing along to "Sweet Caroline," as it played over the restaurant's speakers. My wife and I spent a night in Poughkeepsie, just passin' through, as it were. Neither of us had ever been there before, so we hit up Yelp for a restaurant recommendation and quickly zoned in on Crew. I'm glad we did -- the food was great, the service was snappy and friendly, and the beer and wine list was solid! We started off with the panzarotti (fried ravioli) and braised oxtail risotto (a new addition to the permanent menu). Both were great! The panzarotti had some balsamic vinegar on it, which provided a nice sweetness, and the risotto was cooked perfectly. For the main course, we had the orchiette pasta (with chicken and pancetta) and the bone-in pork chop. The pasta was very good and although I thought the garlic cream sauce could use a little kick in the flavor department, my wife was happy with it. My pork chop was cooked perfectly, juicy on the inside and with a flavorful char on the outside. It had some kind of apple compote on top that didn't do anything for me -- it tasted good, but it just wasn't necessary. The pork chop was accompanied by roasted fingerling potatoes and vegetables, both of which were seasoned and cooked perfectly. I was very happy to see they pay attention to the quality of the side dishes -- too many restaurants just phone it in, but not Crew. I had to deduct a star because dessert was such a let-down, especially compared to the rest of the meal. I ordered the bread pudding du jour (peanut butter and jelly -- sounded interesting!), and my wife had the cheesecake du jour (strawberry). The cheesecake was fine, just nothing special; the bread pudding on the other hand was a huge disappointment. It had an overwhelming peanut butter flavor, nary a hint of jelly, and a consistency that's hard to describe, but I think "leaden" might be the right word for it. It was not the way I wanted to end an otherwise great meal. If we're ever in Poughkeepsie again, we would definitely go back to Crew. We would be more selective with our dessert order, maybe just stick with gelato and some coffee. read more

I went here over the Christmas holiday and met some friends from High School. Crew has been a favorite in my family for a few years, but living out of the area, I've had very few opportunities to experience it. Judging from the parking lot, I figured this is a popular after-work meeting spot. There were very few parking spaces left, and once I walked in, there was a large 30-something crowd at the bar. I immediately ordered an espresso martini, which was delicious. Not every restaurant makes them this good...I will be back for more. ;-) We decided to get a table and order appetizers. Food was pretty good, the ambiance was exceptional. I loved the way the owners had everything decorated tastefully for the holidays. In addition, the hostess, who I believe was one of the owners, was really helpful and friendly...offering to take our coats and get us a table. Our server was very friendly.
