Will have to come back to give it another try because the menu seems great, but I was not too impressed by Create. Came in here on a Saturday - late morning to grab a bite after a workout. Shared an acai bowl and avocado toast with my friend. The lines are confusing and there is no direction at any of the stations. The smoothie station took forever to even take my order for the acai bowl, and it took even longer to make my order. Looks like they do a lot of deliveries, so not sure if they want to focus more on deliveries than customers who are in the restaurant. The avocado toast we had was pretty plain and did not have much of anything to it. For the price you are paying for it, you are better off making your own avocado toast. They also have açaí bowls and smoothies that I'll have to try when I come back. The place is open and has plenty of space to kick back and eat. This is the only place in Astoria to get an acai bowl, so I come here all the time. The acai base is hit or miss depending on who's making it, but the fruit toppings are generally very fresh. If I could guess, the tech fee was because I used a credit card. And if that's the case, I think the fee should be waived when you spend over a certain amount. I really wanted to like this place because it has a farm to table feel, but this place is not fresh or caring. My partner and I immediately got sick after eating here. For me, it was so bad that I ruined another establishment's bathroom on my way home - not cool. I had a large salad with no meat or cheese-it was the safest thing I could think of. I noticed the cucumbers looked old and wondered if my lentils were fresh. Guess not! My salad guy couldn't wait for me to finish ordering so he could toss it in a bowl. My partner, had a chicken and brown rice bowl that was barely cooked on the grill. The place looked busy enough to have what I had hoped to be a fresh rotation of food. Although, what immediately concerned me when I walked in was they had a hot bar filled with food that was not heated high and I could touch the glass! When this happens, the food won't stay warm or dry out, but it will spoil easily. Some establishments do this because they don't want to have to change out the food often, but it's plain cheap and wrong. You may keep costs down but you'll be losing business when your customers get food poisoning. I also noticed a girl with long curly hair down to her mid back that kept going behind the counter to pack orders. She had a hair clip on top of her head but her hair flowed all over her shoulders and back. This is not acceptable or hygienic. Her hair should be tied back and up in a cap or hairnet. The place looks rustic and special but it's not. And food service should be done ethically, properly, and with caring attendees and management who takes pride in what they do or don't do it at all. read more

Terrible customer service. Never ordering from here again. Ordered two omelettes that were supposed to come with toast. We realized they forgot the toast so called and told them. The girl responds with a nasty attitude and says "so what do you want me to do." Taken aback by her attitude I said "obviously send us the toast." She states that the toast wasn't something I paid for it was free. (Its on the listing as a component to meal I ordered) I then began to explain to her that this has happened to me before. I POLITELY said "not for nothing this has happened here before." She then LOUDLY and with a serious attitude says "not for nothing the toast was free." And then HUNG UP! I called back immediately and when she answered I asked to speak to the manager. She said "K" and then put me on wait for 5 minutes. When the "manager" answered she sounded an awful lot like the girl I had just spoken to... I asked the manager for her name and she replied that her name was "Patricia." She told me she "yelled" at the employee." When I asked her what she can do to "turn this experience around" she said... "send the toast..?" At this point I was beyond angry and explained that this isn't good customer service and I explained how often we order from here. The "manager" then said "well the toast is free." Leading me to further believe I was not speaking to the actual manager. (Since she was echoing the same words of the employee) She then asked me what I wanted and I told her I would like the meal refunded. Overall I like this establishment, however, the women in that section are completely rude and unpleasant. They frequently have attitudes and seem to be bothered by taking your order. They are not handing out freebies, we are paying customers and we should be shown a little more respect. I give greetings and salutations to everyone before they take my order and the women give nothing back in return but a nasty screw you face like you're disturbing them. I used to eat there just because it is very close to where I live. The place supposed to serve healthy/ tasty food, but honestly, I think it's too over-rated. My main issue with this place is the quality of the food, the quantity and the price. The food is tasteless. I tried the salmon the chicken and the turkey. None of the dishes was good. In my worst cooking my food comes out better. The second problem is the quantity of the food- they will give you a lot of carbs, but very little protein. If you get the stake you get barely a quarter pound for 15$ ( same as the salmon). The prices are way too high. I also tried the smoothies recent, and I paid 10$ for a protein shake (ridiculous) it was just an average shake and wayyyyy too pricey. Save your money. There are a lot of much better places in the area where you can find tasty and healthy food. read more

"Corner bodega sandwiches with a pseudo-hipster vibe" I'd really want to like this place, but they keep disappointing more and more with every visit. When I first saw it, it appealed to me through an open layout and earth-friendly design. The enormous size of the place made me think for a second, but I came in. Once inside, I was shocked with whomever made this place - smoothies, breakfast menu, coffee, pancakes, wraps, quinoa bowls, açai bowls, salad bar, sandwiches... I guess everyone runs a business differently... Wouldn't be surprised if they soon will also feature Nutella Crepes and gelato stands. But the vibe inside is very weird. Unfriendly staff, loudness, weird music choices, school cafeteria ambience... And then I have started to come in regularly for coffee in the morning. Their soy lattes are good, nothing to say there. Their regular coffee is very good, too. But as I have started to come regularly - I've noticed that, too, fluctuates. What stays the same? Service. If you open that big of a space, one would think you will know how to operate it. No Sip Tops. Almost ever. 8 out of 10 they "ran out". They give you coffee with the street cart coffee top. Try to drive with it. And I'm pretty sure coffee is what's the place is all about right? Somehow they don't have DECAF. As, don't have it at all. No coffee, no latte, no French press, just NO DECAF BEANS AT ALL. Take that for a coffee shop. And then this morning I've decided to go in and sit for breakfast. Man, my corner deli in BK made better sandwiches. Food is just blend and tasteless here. And it's freezing here. And no one knows the wifi password. And I'm done. I really wish I didn't have to write this but after being sick all night , I have no option but to warn customers. I had The Skinny turkey burger. I have to say the burger itself had no taste . I am not sure what caused me to be so sick . I noticed the employees using their hands with gloves on to put the greens on food. Maybe the meat was out too long . Not sure. I was completely lost when I first walked in here. There are so many option and so many sections that it makes it very difficult to decide what to get. The taco vegan bowl was just so boring, lacked any seasoning or flavor in any of the components (aside from the chipotle salsa they provide on the side that somehow still didn't make the bowl better), and was pretty much 90% overcooked bland rice. I love this create more than the other create in Astoria. This places is always clean and there vegetables are always fresh. There service is pretty decent. There price is a bit pricey as anything else in Astoria but it's worth it. & they have a lot of healthy choices to choose from. I do recommend either the acaí bowl or the one with mangos and pineapple bowl. Quick tip tho pick agave instead of honey, you'll thank me later. there smoothies are freshly made. Ordered from the buffet the grilled chicken with a side of quinoa and sauteed Brussels sprouts - perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked! Tonight I ordered takeout with my co-workers. We all had the Farmers Salad with grilled salmon - generous portion, very colorful and vibrant with butternut squash, pumpkin seeds, cherry tomatoes and ranch dressing. I was prepared to dislike this place, and was skeptical when I first learned this was taking over the wine bar. Was this going to be some fancy salad place, or "artisanal" hipster joint? Would it be crazy expensive? Worst, would it be snobby? I am pleased to say that I like it instead- and in fact, a lot. Their brown rice/quinoa bowls are a terrific lunch option, and seeing a place offer sautéed root veggies aside from salads makes me very glad to have one away from diner fare or tricked-up burger places. Order the Natural Bowl or Cuban Bowl, and you'll see what I mean- and also enjoy the generous portion size that can be eaten in two sittings. Their breakfast quinoa bowls are also good, as are their smoothies. The service staff is very friendly, as is someone who seems to be the owner (who looks like he directs things smoothly and jumps in to work alongside his staff from time to time). A few criticisms: would like a better latte, which tastes okay or a little too overdone on the steamed milk, depending on the employee making them. There is no decaf espresso as of yet (I hear it will be added soon). Some prices are more than a little expensive for an organic protein smoothie. But, since this has only been open a short while, I am okay with seeing if the espresso quality improves. So excited this opened here on Ditmars. This area, IMO, is in need of more sit down (non-waiter) casual places and healthy place as well. I often don't want a full sit down restaurant or to get something to go. For healthy options, I can only do so many create-your-own-salads. Anyway, I've only tried a couple of things so far, including the fruit bowl, granola bowl, and a smoothie, and while they were all delicious, since they were all also pretty basic, I'm only giving the place a 4 star, so far. Once I try more, I'll update the review. I can say, however, it all looks delicious, I'm dying to try some of their sides, especially the sweet potatoes. I like that they have a variety of food and it's a good place to come for a full meal, a quick juice/smoothie, a casual breakfast/brunch, or just to sit and have some tea or coffee and read. I have only been here twice and so far so good! I ordered the LIC wrap and my boyfriend created his own salad. The wrap was amazing. Only thing that threw me off a little was the mango lemonade I bought. I didn't taste the mango at all. The staff was pleasant so can't complain about that. read more

Came here and created our own salad. I don't remember all the ingredients but we had salmon in it. The salmon was definitely over cooked and dry but you would expect that from a place like this. The smoothies were not as expected. They literally just blend up whatever you order into a drink/smoothie and they don't add anything to it. If you were expecting something sweet, think again. If you know what is in season you'll be able to make a nice drink/smoothie. Overall the people were nice and food was fresh and relatively tasty. Our company orders from this restaurant every week for corporate ordering and we all LOVE IT! Every item I've gotten from there has been so delicious. It is always packaged with our names on it so that it's easy to separate throughout the office. They also send it in paper bags which is a plus! Very well priced and great sized portions.
