Delicious all around! I went to this location around 2pm on a Friday, and the line was to the door. We were out of there with our orders within 20 minutes. They are fairly quick with getting customers in and out. This is probably because when you are in line, they prepare your order so that when you get to the register, all you have to do is pay. In this location, their inventory is out in the lobby area so there is no room to hangout which is the only downside. My first time here and honestly it was not a good experience. I ordered quite a bit of items to try (cream puffs, ham and cheese croissant, strawberry and strawberry/banana treats, chocolate, etc.). Most were simple and nice but nothing special that I couldn't get somewhere else. Price was moderate from $3-$5 a piece. The set up in the place is a little awkward with not much room to move around. The worst part by far was the service - or shall I say very abrupt, rude, service by more than one employee. What is the point of being so aggressive and rude to your customers? This was our first time here. We stopped by on a trip from LA. We had heard amazing things but all in all it was meh. I'll start with some of the bummers first. The service was rather surprising. We were rushed tremendously the entire time. At the beginning you grab a tray and pick out some items and then you pick what items from the case you want (you don't grab those the baker does). When we went to pay there was a slight mixup (it had gotten very busy) with what we had picked and what we hadn't. I'm not sure the woman working there was aware that I spoke Spanish but blaming us rudely to the other ladies that worked there was kinda appalling. She clearly didn't know I spoke Spanish. The only other bummer is that the coffees we got were lackluster. Really watery. I'd pass on those and come here just for the treats! On to the baked goods. We shared a pb and j that was on their bread. Nice and fluffy bread! It was 3.90 though which kinda surprised me. The only baked good we didn't like was their cheese boul. Other than that we had their croissant, ham and cheese croissant, and An's donut (filled with red bean). Personally the ham and cheese was the tastiest! We also took some of their bread to go. I called the store shortly after to apologize and let them know I'd be back to pick it up later, or if it was okay for one of my staff members to do so. The first person who answered the phone was extremely rude and dismissive. She gave me clear attitude, made me feel like I was bothering her, and without a word, threw the call to someone else. Thankfully, the second person was kind, professional, and helped me resolve the situation, but the treatment I received initially was uncalled for. I believe the staff were trying to protect one another because when I asked for the first person's name twice she wouldn't give it to me. I wasn't demanding, I wasn't rude. I used to come here with my mom and had good service, but this time there wasn't any customer service at all. It had been so long I wasn't sure how the ordering process worked because I remember someone behind the glass would ask what we'd like before getting to the register. This casual, Japanese style bakery had a wide variety of breads available, and we even saw some katsu sandwiches. I only ordered coffee this time, just an iced americano. The food itself is certainly good to eat, but does pale in comparison to Hamada-ya located inside Mitsuwa Marketplace. The quality just doesn't taste comparable. Maybe if Cream Pan went for a more gourmet experience, we would go there more often. But it's not the kind of bakery we are looking for. The fruit tart is really good I personally dont like sweets as much but the tart i definitely recommend not too sweet and not too tart. I heard people rave about this place so I wanted to check it out. Saturday at 12pm and the line was out the door. We inched forward and finally made it inside. I was excited expecting a treasure trove of baked goods. First of all, everyone inched forward in one snaking line. This is not a bakery that you can walk inside and just look around. It is cramped and claustrophobic staying inside a roped line. At noon on a Saturday there was pretty much nothing left. Most items are inside a display and you have to ask for help. If you don't know what you want you will hold up the entire line behind you. It's stressful. Their biggest seller seems to be strawberry cream stuffed croissants. They sell them individually and by the party platter. Those were flying out the door. They look tiny! You can get better looking ones that are bigger pretty much anywhere else - 7 leaves, Paris Baguette, etc. The place had empty refrigerated displays and empty display cases. It smells like dirty dish water and we escaped after being held hostage in that line for 20 mins. This is by far the strangest bakery experience I've ever been to. I don't understand the hype. Came here on Friday around 1PM, and there were no lines. I ordered a dozen strawberry croissants, which came in two boxes of six ($28), a beef curry pan ($3.30), and a Black and Brown ($2.50). The strawberry croissant was good--the filling wasn't too sweet and was very creamy. However, the croissant itself was hard and not fluffy since it had to be refrigerated. Some of the croissants were even a bit burnt but covered with powdered sugar. The strawberries were delicious and refreshing, but I didn't like how inconsistent the cuts and portions were. One slice even had a huge hole, which should have been tossed since it barely qualified as a slice in Japan standards. Regardless, this pastry was still worth trying. The beef curry pan was good. It was soft, and the beef filling had a strong cumin flavor. I just wish the filling had more meat since some bites were meatless. The Black and Brown was my least favorite. It was just plain burnt bread with toasted sesame seeds. I didn't like how hard the bread was--it was super tough to bite and overly crunchy. The one thing that ruined my experience was the staff. My interaction with them was not as positive as other reviewers have described. I repeatedly told them I wanted a dozen croissants--two boxes of six--but they kept telling me I could only get six or fourteen. It just felt like they had never had anyone order a dozen before and were unsure of how to do the math because they kept pushing me to get 14 if I wanted 12....or maybe they were just stressed and too busy rushing me without realizing that two boxes of 6 is a dozen? I don't know. I get that it can be busy, but customer service should always be the priority, especially for new customers who have never been there. When I was at the cashier, I had to wait for the staff to finish talking about something irrelevant before he rang me up. There was no acknowledgment or apology, even though I was standing right in front of him for a while. On top of that, I asked him to add the beef curry pan and Black and Brown since I was able to browse more freely after my croissants order. However, this addition seemed like it was an inconvenience to the cashier. Overall, this place was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return or wait in line. I feel like the hype of this place has inflated their ego, causing them to lose professionalism and kindness. I do appreciate the dedication of being fast but sometimes, being too fast isn't a good thing without kindness. As for the pastries, I feel like it was delicious and worth the try but it isn't a match to the pastries I had in Japan since it was hard and inconsistent here. You can taste the quality and freshness and also the cream was perfect (not sweet at all). Make sure to eat it when it's fresh because the next day it would lose its texture and crunch. Service is always friendly and great here. There's usually a line in the morning but it moves quickly. Make sure to go early or else they will run out. I came one time at 5pm and they close at 7 and they happen to have some croissant left and other things. It's one single line and you just tell them what you want when it's your turn or you can grab what you want and keep the line moving.
