Fast service from friendly staff and the food is great with very large portions. We had the Ortega Beef omelettes with hash browns and biscuits and gravy after an early morning visit to the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve on Easter morning. The beef was flavorful and the omelette very light yet high flavor. We wondered how they got the egg part so perfect - thin and perfectly folded, almost like a crepe so it highlighted but didn't bog down the contents. I nibbled the crunchy edges of my 2 biscuits dipped in gravy and took home half my omelette and a lot of hash browns. Those hash browns are in the freezer waiting to be crisped for multiple breakfasts! (I'm a believer in not wasting food.) But, we just had to devour the very tasty biscuits and gravy! Leftover gravy just doesn't travel that well, and, did we really have any if that deliciousness leftover? No! My husband raved about this breakfast for hours - this was his first time at Crazy Otto's. I had been once before with a large hiking group. We will be back to try more things on the menu! read more

My friends and I went to Crazy Otto's this last Saturday. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries they ordered breakfast. My cheeseburger was served with a patty hanging 2 inches over the bun. It was fully cooked but not very good. The french fries were cold in the middle and awful. I tried my friends hash browns and it was the same thing. The next day I spent 6 hours in the bathroom. I don't know for sure if that was the cause but I am more than leaning towards it. Told the wait staff and cashier and was smiled away. I didn't expect a discount but felt we were not taken seriously. I will never go back to Crazy Otto's again. read more

This place hit the spot after a long hike. It's a cute diner serving the typical diner faire, with breakfast offered all day. I had a half veggie omelet which was still way more than I could eat with hashbrowns and an order of onion rings. This is probably the worst service I have ever received. You know when you're super hungry and something upsets you and you loose your appetite? Well... walked in for the first time. I waited to sit down because I wasn't sure if they would offer a place to sit.. they (waitress) just looked at me w/ out a word. Sat down after taking the menu my self.. the rest just went downhill. Good place we stumbled upon on our way to see the poppies. Had a grilled cheese sandwich with fries. Kind of sucks the place charges extra for fries as the sandwich typically would come with chips. I made it back up to Otto's yesterday, ordered the same dish as before. Well almost the same, I decided to go with the toast instead of the biscuits and gravy. And while the chicken fried steak was better, albeit not by a lot, other things weren't quite as great. for starters the toast was cold, and the hash browns weren't as crispy as before. In fact, I don't know if they even bothered to make them crispy at all. The first time the Chicken Fried Steak was flavorful but tough, this one was far more tender, but it was also quite bland. Neither the steak, the breading or the gravy added any sort of flavor to the meal. The server wasn't as friendly either. I got none of the positive vibe that I got from a different waitress on the first trip. The music was the same--- still country and still annoying. I came just in time to hear Johnny Cash griping about being stuck in a California (why not a Nevada prison???) after shooting a man in Reno just to watch him die; and I left just as Carrie Underwood homage to SUV vandalism was kicking in. Now I understand why Otto gets 5 stars from most of his customers, they aren't crazy. They just have different tastes up there in Acton I guess. read more

When I simply asked for milk for my coffee, why did you bring me a half a glass and then charge me $1.65, did you think I wouldn't notice this? Why do you now water down your eggs and provide thin flimsy omelettes instead of the thick and fluffy ones I remember? I know times are tough, but your fan based hasn't wavered, the place was packed this morning; how bad can things be that you are now driven to cut corners to this degree. On a breakfast stop after a motorcycle ride on Angeles Crest Hwy (Forest road). It wad about 8 miles out of the way in a small town, but we were very happy this was our stopping break. I was drunk last Saturday night and craving biscuits with gravy. The Crazy Otto's in Acton has the best biscuits and gravy around here so my husband and I went for breakfast Sunday morning around 10:30am. We sat in the outside seating since it was such a lovely day. The staff was wonderful, all 3 outside servers checked on us whenever they passed by. We had prime rib with scrambled eggs, hash browns, and biscuits with gravy. The prime rib was perfectly medium rare as requested. The biscuits and gravy did not let me down! It was exactly what I'd been craving and hit the spot! This has always been my favorite AV area breakfast spot and I am always happy with the food and service! Thank you ALL!! read more

We've been to this place several times in our drives to Palmdale (we have been doing minor repair work and such getting it ready for rent again). Most of the foods we've eaten are breakfast and a couple of lunch items. I'd recommend the Otto's Burgermeat omelette, the sausage breakfast burrito (I had mine with Tapatio and salsa) as well as the Ortega Beef omelette. For lunch items I've tried the Tuna Melt and the philly cheese steak sandwich. Had the chorizo and eggs yet it was decent. They do have some weird policies such as if you order a breakfast burrito or a create your own omelette, you can't have chorizo (and you can't have chorizo in any omelette). The portions can be pretty generous with the omelettes especially when you see the size of the omelette and a large heaping of hash browns. Do get the biscuits and gravy instead of toast. It is really, really good! These guys are also real honest as well. My bf left a few hundred bucks in an envelope (he took cash out to pay the landscape guy) and left it on the table. We called them up and they had it and the money was there. We tipped the waitress some $ as a reward. She didn't want to take the $ for a reward but it was the least we could have done as there are not many honest people. Part of me wishes there are places like this in my area but I'll settle for it at Acton. It's one of my favorite places to eat for breakfast and is now bookmarked in my profile. read more

Cute little diner with very patriotic decor. The service is sweet and quick. The food is delicious and the servings are large. I had the french toast with eggs and sausage and was very impressed. The sausage was HUGE and delicious, and the french toast was perfectly made. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5, is that my eggs were a big over cooked, the ham in an outlet we ordered was extremely salty, and the chicken tenders were nothing special. Went here on Easter Sunday. Oh my goodness food was delicious. Servers were courteous and pleasant and the portion sizes were humongous. The plates are roughly 10x13 ovals and the food exceeded the size of the plates. The hash browns and omelettes were the size of our forearms!! Breakfast was $10-11 per person.. Definitely shareable. Its crazy how much food you get for the money! Crazy Otto's is one of the best All-American diners in Canyon Country and the AV. I swear they have the world's biggest sausage patties and it covers most of the plate. You have to come here for breakfast. You won't believe everything you'll get and its all delicious. Friendly staff and you get more than what you pay for. I don't know how they keep their doors open but they're pullin' it off. Crazy Otto's is a staple of the High Desert and if you just moved up here you gotta go and experience it for yourself. read more
