Crazy beans is a bustling dining in a port town that offers retro charm, small town friendliness, and great food options. Check-in with the host, and expect to be asked to wait outside. They pack in a lot of diners, so there's not much space, not even for strollers (which they also request you leave outside). We went to crazy beans after it came highly rec'd by our Southold friends. Lattes, fresh juices, lobster quesadillas, and a "morning meltdown" omelette (egg white/turkey/avo/spinach) rounded out our order. The star of the meal was the buttered and toasted SOURDOUGH. I asked our server if it's baked in-house or precured from elsewhere (and where?!), but they didn't know. Nor did they care to find out. I can't find it on their website either. But just make sure you try any of their breads. From the looks of their Yelp photos, all the breads look fresh and worth the carbs.
After having visited and thoroughly enjoyed the Stony Brook location multiple times, this was a highly disappointing experience. Popped in for a quick weekend lunch since they had visibly open tables and we were seated right away. The person who showed us to our table led the way, and then dropped menus and utensils in a booth and kept walking. As soon as we made our way through the small restaurant, the absolute filth of the place was the only thing I could focus on. There were food scraps and garbage littering almost every surface of the floor. Our own table had dirty napkins, crumbs and half spilled sugar packets underneath, and the bench needed a wipe down before I could sit. Condiments on the table were dirty and if you moved them, the table was covered with crumbs underneath so no one is moving the condiments to clean. The bathroom was equally disgusting and unkempt. Despite all signs pointing to that we should've left immediately, we were hungry and had been driving for awhile. The food/drink was nothing like the other locations we've visited. In my 20 years of ordering Mimosas, I have never before been asked if I wanted a single or a double. It's prosecco, not shots. I went for the single because my expectations were low, and was presented with a weird little lowball glass of pineapple juice and a jigger of prosecco. That is completely ridiculous to cut a serving in half and call it a "single". For $12 you can buy an entire decent bottle of prosecco, and probably at least three bottles of whatever cheap they're serving. It feels like a cheat not to get a full serving. I ordered the Bootlegger for my meal which is fried chicken, melted cheese, bacon and Russian dressing on a roll. It arrived on a tiny hamburger bun with no dressing. Our server came once to ask how everything was the moment the plates were set down, and left when I told her I hadn't tried it yet. It then took about 10 minutes to obtain a side of dressing once I noticed my sandwich was dry. It was edible, but definitely not worth ever having again. My husband ordered corned beef hash and eggs, which was a plate filled with boxed potato sprinkled with pieces of corned beef. Eggs were fine. We did not use any of the condiments since it was clear they hadn't been swapped out or cleaned, and really tried to get out of this dirty environment as fast as possible. Servers were all concentrated in the bar area, some on phones clearly not busy...so it makes one wonder why no one thought to sweep the floor or wipe down a table. The state of the dining room was truly disgusting and honestly surprising. Our server barely attended to us so we opted not to bring this complaint to her directly and judging by the demeanor of the other staff, there wasn't a manger on duty. The bigger problem here is that if the public-facing front of house can look that way, I can only imagine how the kitchen is kept. We will never return to this location and sincerely hope it can be brought up to the same standards as the others.
This is a well-conceived and well-run restaurant that does a few things and does them all very well. Great breakfast and lunch fare, quality ingredients, cooked perfectly, served quickly, in portions that aren't overwhelming, at fair prices, in a very fun room, with super friendly and efficient service.
Crazy Beans Retro Diner is a fantastic breakfast spot with wonderful food and a fun retro atmosphere. The decor is full of character, and the staff was friendly and attentive. We arrived at 9am on a Saturday and were seated right away, which was a great start to the day. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious, and the overall vibe made the meal even more enjoyable. We will post more travel guides, photos, and videos from our Greenport trip and other locations at https://ourownpathtravel.com and on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@OurOwnPath
Stopped by here last Saturday for breakfast because I was in the mood for some diner food. I was not disappointed. The retro theming in here is so cute. We snagged a booth and ordered berry pancakes and the hashbrowns with eggs. Both were delicious. My favorite part of my meal was my coconut/hazelnut/chocolate latte which came with a foam cat surprise. It was a great start to our day. Thank you!
Cute little retro diner right in the middle of town. A good size menu with daily specials. Reasonable prices and fast service. Their homemade corned beef hash is incredible!
If Greenport had a breakfast mascot, it'd be Crazy Beans. Quirky, cheeky, and full of personality -- just like the sailor-core-meets-Beauty-and-the-Beach décor inside. Think seafaring mermaids with a latte in hand. We were into it. We got a text when our table was ready, which gave us time to stroll around and even hit the thrift shop across the street before the brunch rush rolled in. Pro move. Amy had the lavender latte (hot) -- and it was delicious. Bonus points for the cute little espresso cups that made every sip feel fancy. Food-wise, we ordered the Picasso Breakfast, two eggs over easy, and a Benedict. Everything came out fast and hot. The Benedict was solid -- maybe better without the sausage, but that's just personal preference. The place was packed but the staff kept it moving. Service wasn't overly chatty, but they were efficient and got the job done with no fuss. Bottom line: if you're in Greenport and need breakfast with personality, Crazy Beans is worth the stop. We'll be back next time we're town-hopping with the fam.
Very fun and cute North Fork little diner. We needed breakfast on a Monday and this fit the bill. It gets very crowded and there is sometimes a wait. We waited about 30 mins and snagged seats at the counter. As you'd expect, the coffee is delicious and all served from unique, fun, adorable mugs! The breakfast itself was good. We were super hungry. They have breakfast cocktails but we had WAYYY too many the night before. The bill was reasonable, relative to where we were. The portions were great and the marble toast was the kicker!! Overall, loved! Will be back next time we're in the area.
Walked in a little after noon on a monday and they were packed. We only had to wait about five minutes for a table though which was great. It was extremely loud in there until the restaurant cleared out, it's a pretty small space. The food however was delicious. They have a huge menu selection and it's reasonably priced. None of the sandwiches come with any sides other than a pickle though so it could start to add up.
Crazy Good... Absolute Perfection . Service was with a smile with decor that brought you back to simpler times. Food was off the chain fresh fast and fabulous.

This is a great place to stop for delicious breakfast, brunch or lunch. Since I was a little girl, I have been traveling out to orient Point. Greenport is a favorite spot. This restaurant used to be the town soda fountain but closed down. It is now a hot spot for great food, funky art work and delicious specialty lattes. The service is wonderful and friendly! We now live in Rhode Island and stop here on our way from the ferry to visit family. Always satisfied! Check it out! read more

Old time diner, perfect for traditional breakfast as well as dishes like Crab Eggs Benedict. Something for everyone. Sit at the counter or pick a table. Family and adult friendly with adult beverages. Great and friendly service. Downtown Greenport. read more
Cute diner like brunch spot! Very homey and awesome decor. Menu has everything you can think of and huge selection of lattes. I think we looked at the coffee menu for 10+ minutes before we decided, we felt so bad lol. HIGHLY suggest the cinnamon swirl French toast (which the waitress recommended to me and it was worth everyyyyyy calorie!) read more

We really didn't have to wait on a Saturday, however we wanted to wait for a booth to open so they gave us a buzzer which works around town and were buzzed about 15 mins later so not bad! The decor was a funky 50s look. I started with an iced caramel latte. I ordered the eggs your way which was 2 eggs with hashbrowns and toast. I ordered over easy with american cheese and sourdough bread. The hashbrowns were a little overdone for my liking. The toast was very fresh- tasted homemade. I also ordered a side order of cookie dough pancakes which could have used a tad more cookie dough. If I come back I would definitely try something else! They had many different latte flavors which seemed interesting. read more

This cute spot in the heart of Greenport was exactly what we were looking for. Crazy Beans has one of the most interesting and eclectic menus I've ever seen, and had me hard pressed to choose between 4 items for breakfast! I decided on the fried avocado burrito with Crazy Beans sauce on the side (can't recommend enough) and my boyfriend got the Belgian waffle and cinnamon swirl French toast. Both came with this insanely delicious cinnamon frosting that really elevated the flavor. I also got an iced toasted almond mocha latte that was delicious! Definitely a spot I'd go back to. As far as covid goes, they have acrylic panels set up between tables. read more
Cute little spot in Greenport. The staff here is fantastic. super friendly, helpful and efficient. I had the avocado toast and a chai latte that was yummy. They also have a location in Stony Brook that is just as good and the staff there is also great. Will definitely be back! read more

The family and I are here exclusively while we were at the beach! During the COVID-19 times I was impressed by the timing, quality, and menu selection of this place! The prices were good for NY prices but they literally have a great menu from food, to the coffee bar, and alcoholic drinks. It's in a fun spot in the cute little town by the water. We ordered by phone and picked up minutes later. What we got: Avacado breakfast wrap French toast with berries and bacon French toast sticks and bacon Chai lattes The Hungry Man breakfast wrap Fish & chips One of the salads Everything was good! The portion sizes, it was fresh. I would highly recommend and we will be returning next beach trip! read more
Life lessons number 103, if a place is only opened for breakfast, the restaurant is usually awesome, this place was awesome!!!! It was a great find since I was staying at the Harborfront Inn down the block, it was less than a 5 min walk. This place is super funky, it's child friendly and the prices are pretty reasonable, this place seems like it would be perfect on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. In the Winter time, the restaurant does get really drafty so be mindful when someone opens the door. The food: Avocado Fries- The avocado fries were really interesting and I liked the outside crust and I really liked that it wasn't oily. The avocados were slightly plain by themselves but the chipotle mayo that comes with it was awesome, it added so much flavor. I did wish the avocados were a tad more ripe, but I think if they were anymore soft, they would have had issues in the fry. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1kUaR2JotVvynElJygHrSw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Huevos Locos Burrito- 3 eggs over easy, bacon & cheddar cheese in a flour tortilla with crazy beans sauce. This was one of the recommendations from our waiter and holy mommy was this good. This is going to be surprising for me to say since over easy eggs are pretty straightforward but the over easy eggs here were spectacular! These were easily the best over easy eggs I ever had, the whites were nice with a soft firmness but the yolks were so perfectly runny and creamy. These over easy eggs were magic! The bacon in the dish was good, but I do prefer my bacon to be crunchy, these were kinda on the chewy side. The home fries were solid. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=YzJrzcKSz2COUQFu5hE6Dw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Cali Burrito- Carne Asada, avocado, black beans, french fries, cheddar, sour cream & chipotle in a tortilla. This was a special of the day and it was really good as well. The burrito had good flavor, the Carne Asada was surprisingly more tender than I was expecting. The beans, however, were a tad mushy but added a good flavor. To finish off, the burrito is pressed which made a pretty big difference since it added a little bit of a exterior crust for some nice contrast in texture to the inside of the burrito. The one thing I didn't like was there was a big gap of just unmelted cheddar cheese, I remember taking a bit of just cold cheese and it was weird. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1LMTgH5t8ROqwueVqxSsFw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA read more

I will give 5 stars for a few reasons. 1. The staff was very friendly. 2. The prices are very reasonable. 3. They have the best coffee I have ever had!! I am a very fussy coffee drinker because I can only drink decaf and most places just don't have the best decaf. They altered it to the way I liked and nailed it even with the syrups (I don't like it too sweet). I have never been able to find a place that is that on with it! The only thing I would have liked is nonfat milk. They only carry whole, almond and oat milk. I can have whole milk every now and again, but just prefer nonfat. read more
I've been here a few times & probably would visit more often if it were closer to home. I usually get the burrito or wraps because they are very tasty & some of the best on the east end. Only one warning they can be very messy. That being said getting a little egg on your face isn't the worst thing nowadays, at least no one will see it with social distancing. With the Avocado Wrap, the over easy eggs, avocado & southwest sauce kind off meld together to enhance the flavor. The staff is friendly & they offer a newer (Square) style card processor that you can insert your dept/cc without touching the device which may be on people's minds. If you're in the area or just staying in your car & taking a ride to get out of the house, call ahead & they'll have a quality breakfast waiting for you. Everyone be safe. read more

Fun place for brunch if you're willing to wait. The buzzers work around the block, so the wait isn't too bad. Forgoing brunchier options, I got a crab cake sandwich. It had avocado on it and was pretty good, although the cole slaw kind of took away from it. If I went back, I'd ask for no cole slaw. My friends enjoyed their traditional brunch items, too. read more

Went here last minute for breakfast and it was amazing! The staff is great, helpful and fast ! They have such an amazing variety of coffee as well. I had the crab cakes with eggs Benedict and my bf had the chicken and waffles, both delicious. Everything is reasonably prized and not expensive. Will definitely return read more
Greensport is a lovely small town. Authentic coastal town that probably sees more traffic in Summer. It's got great little stores and cafes. Crazy Beans is one of them. It looks like Crazy Beans was very popular amongst locals since we saw the whole place get full for early brunch by 11:30am. We decided to sit by the coffee bar to grab a breakfast. Everyone ordered make your own breakfast sandwiches, wraps, and omelets. We also tried their famous breakfast sangria which was made with local wine and fruits. It's all tasty. Coffee comes in individual mugs and a range of flavors. It's fun to cruise the walls and take in the easy on eye decor. Prices are good, service is top notch, experience is great. It's places like this that saves us from a lifetime of Panera & IHOP! It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area! PS: See attached pics! read more

Went here for brunch with a group of 10 around 1pm last Sunday. We couldn't sit together, split into two groups but we didn't mibe. They have a great menu, twists on diner food. Definitely recommend the loaded potatoes and enjoyed the fried avocado breakfast wrap. The Mac and cheese looked phenomenal, very creamy and cheesy. The best sandwich we tried was hands down the Cuban! Keep in mind they only accept cash tip! read more

Toilet Stank. it's What's for Dinner. Being "the crazy ones. The misfits..etc" doesn't mean you have to keep designing your restaurants with the bathroom in the flipping dining room. You did this at your Stony Brook location as well. No one wants a waft of fecal matter as a side to their eggs. Maybe on this one, be a follower and keep the bathroom away from direct unobstructed contact with diners. It's really not that hard and you don't need to gross out your patrons who draw short straw on seating. read more

A friend recommended this place in cute little Greenport. I'm a brunch fanatic, and most specifically an eggs benedict addict. So naturally, I got the crab cake eggs benny, and my boyfriend got The Hercules sandwich. The eggs Benedict was by far the best eggs benny I've had, and I've had quite a few. It was hot, delicious, and all the flavors worked so well together. If I could take this dish back with me to Rochester, I would. The sandwich had a lot of flavor, and was very fresh, according to the bf. Overall, if ever in Long Island again, and near a Crazy Beans, will absolutely be back. read more
Probably the only place in Greenport that has everything. Very similar to a diner feel, you can get whatever you would like. I really enjoyed their twist on items. They had a fall menu which was pleasant to consider. We had to try their fried avocados which were in our breakfast wrap. I have never had that before and it was tasty! You can get it as a side as well. The sweet potato tots were very sweet and tasted great with the honey dijon dip This place is a great spot with a very casual feel read more

Fantastic coffee, fun kitschy vibe and a great looking menu. I'd seen Crazy Beans pop up on Yelp while browsing businesses in Greenport, so I wanted to check it out for breakfast one day. We started with the fully loaded homefries (how could we not?) which came smothered with cheddar, bacon and sour cream. It was kind of hard to eat anything after that -deeeelicious. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla, stuffed with eggs, cheese, sauteed onion, spinach, and mushrooms. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of the Cajun sauce at all - it was kind of mayonnaisey (not sour cream) which I did not expect on a quesadilla. I ate around it best I could since the rest of the contents were great. Still, I'd go back to try something different and scarf down more loaded home fries. read more
