Crawfish in Houston is a must! I've been to Houston a couple of times and never had time to get crawfish. This time around I made sure to try some and it's currently crawfish season. We ordered a little bit of everything off the menu, garlic noodles, crawfish egg rolls, cajun fries and crawfish cheesy bread. The garlic noodles and crawfish cheesy bread were so good! The egg rolls were unique, it's filled with rice, peppers and crawfish. For the seafood, we did 6lbs of crawfish, 3lbs with the signature sauce and 3lbs with the Thai basil sauce. Also ordered 1lb of the head on shrimp with the lemon pepper sauce. Each of the sauces you can adjust the spice level. We did medium and spicy, I didn't think it was too spicy. The signature sauce is AMAZING! Full of flavor and lots of garlic. The Thai basil sauce had nice aromatics and you can taste the basil flavor. The lemon pepper with the shrimp was delicious, light citrus flavor with a tang. Overall, I enjoyed everything we ate and I can't wait to come back to Houston to eat more. read more

The new location was great, we had a bit of a wait due to the revamp rush but the crawfish quality, waiter service, and overall experience were wonderful! Crawfish sizes ranged from medium to large with really good flavor! Jenna and Thomas provided stellar customer service, checking in with us multiple times and bringing us whatever we needed. read more

Got the smack pack and some broiled oysters to go. Oysters were delicious and with a good amount of bread. Smack pack was pretty good too. They even brought it out to my car after I ordered it online which was nice and you can just check in from your phone. There was so much food we ate the leftovers for lunch the next day. I'm sad they didn't have the tamarind flavor that they use to because that seasoning for the boil was what I had looked forward to moving back. read more

Crawfish Cafe - Smack Pack - Seafood Near Me - Houston, Texas

The best crawfish place I've been to. Love the taste of the seafood here and have been multiple times. Go-to order is oysters and a smack pack. The sauce/oil at the bottom of the dishes makes everything taste extra delicious. Even the sides like the potato, corn, and garlic bread are all worth it. The service is great, and I really like that they give you the gloves, the bibs, and the trash cans at your table so everything can be eaten cleanly. The place is always bustling, so I like that the ambiance makes you feel like you're in a popular restaurant. Will be going every crawfish season. read more

Loved my experience at Crawfish Cafe! We came in on a Saturday afternoon (~2pm) and were seated immediately, albeit outdoors. The outdoor area was really nice though: covered on top and plastic wrapped around to keep out any bad weather. There is a parking lot in the front and back, as well as some street parking behind the plaza. For the 5 of us, we ordered 2 lb of crawfish, 2 lb of black mussels, Cajun Fried Rice, and Crawfish Eggrolls. Everything was so so delicious, and not too pricey either! I can't even pick one dish highlight because I loved all of them that much. I highly recommend coming here, and I am already excited to come back myself! read more

Yey! It's crawfish season. First time to visit Crawfish Cafe at the Heights. It is located in a strip mall. Limited parking and stores have reserved parking for their customers. There is additional parking at the back. We arrived early (5 pm) and the place was not full but we still had to queue for 30 minutes. Think they were trying to control the flow. There is inside as well as patio seating. Once seated, we quickly placed our orders. 2 lbs of crawfish per person. I ordered mine with The Mix sauce (garlic butter and lemon pepper). We also ordered 2 lbs of head-on shrimp with The Grail (garlic butter and Thai basil) and Cajun fried rice. Definitely order the fried rice. Highly recommended. Crawfish was a mixture of medium and small.... At least what I got. Hits the spot! Shrimp's wee ok... some shrimps are fresher than others. Place is busy. No frills place. They have a hand washing area on the side. Staff were friendly and they use mobile devices to take your order. Look forward to enjoying the rest of the crawfish season! read more

Before leaving Houston,I wanted to eat some Cajun food. Not too many good ones in Illinois. My family brought me to this place, Viet Cajun cuisine. When you walk in, lots of places to sit. The menu has a lot of options so we decided to get a variety of items to try. Honestly, it's hard to find a favorite dish as each dish was different and equally as delicious as the other. For the po boys I love how soft and crispy the French bread is. Seafood was all fresh, nothing was old. Service was great, very nice ladies. Our server made sure our drinks were filled and our food came out fast. Prices were very fair. -garlic noodles 5/5 - i love these noodles. Creamy and buttery. Garlic taste was not subtle. -crawfish eggrolls 5/5 - i love how prominent the crawfish flavor is, that dipping sauce made it more flavorful. -Shrimp boil - shrimp, potatoes, corn, sausage 5/5 - one of the best boils I've ever had. Just the right amount of spices and seasonings. -Grilled shrimp po boy with Cajun fries 5/5 - fresh shrimp perfectly grilled. Cajun fries better than Popeyes. Ample portion. -50/50 po boy with Cajun rice 5/5 - fried half oysters half shrimp. Not greasy. Superb combination. Don't sleep on that Cajun rice. Sufficient amount of andouille sausage. -wings 5/5 - crispy, crunchy, and just the right amount of sauce. Meat was moist. read more

I was bummed that it wasn't crawfish season yet when I went. But their frozen crawfish is still better than what I can get in California. For the flavor I got The Grail which was really delicious. The sauce was thick, it was buttery, garlicky, packed with umami flavor and I loved the Thai basil. I only wish I got it spicier. The hot was not spicy enough for me. Service was very attentive. read more

The food after the renovation and a few tweaks to the menu we tried the crawfish cheese toast and crawfish egg rolls and about 3lbs of crawfish their holy grail extra spicy flava! Service was quick as they seem to be back at full staff and were attentive to us which is a plus. The renovation changed the dynamic and flow of the restaurant now. It's more spacious and we don't seem to be and feel like we're sittin' on each other anymore. The flavor profile for the crawfish was great. Packed with flavor, it had umami and was unctuous and tasted like the LIVE crawfish they advertised. 11/10 will be back again if they keep at it with this level of consistency as we all know how franchises kinda taste good and then don't. Either good at one location and terrible at the next. However this place off shepherd hasn't let us down yet. I pray they keep it up. And to you Kiet D. For sure we'll be back keep it up. This place and the flavors and atmosphere y'all killed it. That's money, dude. read more

I'm visiting a friend in Houston for this weekend and she and her husband took me here when I said I wanted to try Viet Cajun food. And wow the food was so delicious!! We ordered the oyster nachos, garlic noodles , salt and pepper chicken, fish and shrimp plate with Cajun fries and 1 lb of shrimp with Thai basil and garlic sauce (the grail). The food came out pretty quickly and the portions were huge! Everything was so delicious but my favorites were probably the shrimp and garlic noodles. The Thai basil dressing was something I hadn't had before and I enjoyed the flavor. Would definitely come here again whenever I visit houston! I would probably pas on the oyster nachos next time - they tasted good but was definitely a smaller portions compared to all the other food. Free parking in the shared parking lot. read more

The food at Crawfish Cafe is awesome and the service is friendly--definitely recommend trying their crawfish and wings! That said, I had a really frustrating experience with parking that I want to warn others about. There's a lot nearby adjacent to the shopping center. I parked there briefly while trying to check with the restaurant about where to park, and my car was towed within minutes. It cost me $300 and the towing company (Cody's Wrecker) was extremely rude on the phone. This seems to be an ongoing issue in the area. This company has scouts and tow trucks ready to tow in a predatory manner. If you're visiting, make sure you double-check parking signs and don't assume nearby lots are safe, even if they're just steps away. It's worth the walk to avoid getting towed. Still giving them four stars because the food and staff were great--it's just unfortunate that this parking issue is hurting the customer experience. Probably won't be back to location as the parking situation is not great. read more

The size of the crawfish was great. Barely had any dead ones too. Fried rice was a HUGE disappoint however. The rice was undercooked and the flavor was off. Two of us ate 5 lbs of crawfish and fried rice for ~$70 for lunch. If I'm going to spend this much, I am expecting that you would at least get the rice right. read more

First time dining in, but I've always done take out. Sitting down was very quick in a Friday evening also the service was fast too. I ordered the combo #1 mild with the garlic butter and Louisiana style mix. Everything was fresh and hot. It was definitely enough food to fill me up and for the price was even better. I haven't tried many things on the menu because I love the shrimp and crawfish so much, but I definitely will be back to try more menu items. read more

I'm not the biggest crawfish eater, but I gotta have it atleast a few times per season. When I do get the craving, its always for the Viet Cajun style, and Crawfish Cafe has some of the best. This location is located in the Heights. Parking is located on either side of the restaurant with one side being a fast food parking lot. Park at your own risk. We must've came at the right time because we were seated right away. Customer service was prompt and friendly. We came for the crawfish but got a smorgasbord of appetizers and entrees as well. Thai Chili Wings were good but had a strong fish sauce flavor to it. Beware if you're not about that funk. Boudin Balls were huge and packed with flavor. Cajun Calamari was one of my faves. The light, crispy, and perfectly seasoned squid was delicious. Cajun Fried Rice was also a great addition to the meal. They don't skimp on the portion size of this either. We shared a bunch of crawfish and headless shrimp. We got it tossed in the Signature sauce which contains both garlic butter and kickin Cajun flavors. This blend was very tasty and had just the right amount of heat we were seeking. I also love they do most of the peeling of the shrimp for you so you can get through them quicker. There is no shortage of great crawfish spots in Houston, but Crawfish Cafe is still one of my faves. I will definitely be back! read more

Amazing crawfish and shrimp!! I would highly recommend getting their Combo 1 with the signature sauce (garlic butter and Cajun). It was filling and enough for one person. Our waiter was very attentive and my friends and I really loved all of the food we ordered. Only giving 4 stars because parking was difficult-- had to circle 4 times around the block to find a place to park. Otherwise the food here is AMAZING!!! read more

Oooh mahhh gawdd. The basil garlic butter sauce was finger licking gooood. Definitely get the vasil garlic butter with MILD if yiu like that little kick. I accidentally ordered the medium and was slightly more uncomfortable than id like. I got the combo snow crab and 1/2 shrimp. I would recommend just getting the shrimp since the snow crab really wasnt as good as i thought. The shrimp was a pretty decent size though. The combo came with one corn and one potato. I also got the fried platter with 1 catfish, 6 shrimp, and 3 fried oysters. This also came with 2 sides which I ordered french fries and garlic noodles. The best part of the fried platter was probably the fish. It was nice and juicy as well as fresh. Cant say the same for the oysters. Was pretty hard and dried up. Can skip. I ordered a side of garlic butter which is a must if you looove garlic. I originally got it because medium was too spicy for me and wanted to dilute it eith more garlic butter. Either way, spicy or not i would 100% get it as a side again. Must try place. Great service as well read more

Food was good, I also got the frozen hypnotic margarita which was strong so I loved that. Got 1lb. Of crawfish and shrimp and the cheese bread and the crawfish egg rolls. Everything was good but I'd personally would get the boudin balls/egg rolls over the crawfish when I go back. I will mention they gave my food away to another table which meant I then had to wait an additional 20min on top of the 30min I had already waited to receive my food. But they were working as fast as possible to get me my food and they also took care of me for the inconvenience which I can appreciate. I will be back!! read more

I started off with the crawfish bread, which you have to try. If you come here. It was hot fresh and delicious is how I would explain. I paired that with a side of garlic noodles as my appetizer because I knew that I wouldn't get full off of the snow crabs that I ordered. I wish they had a better portion size when it came to their shrimp and crab combo almost all their combos you only get one crab leg and you have to add the other ones at market price and a half a pound of shrimp with corn and potatoes. I will say that the staff was very attentive to your needs. The restaurant was clean on the inside. The patio was spacious so there is a lot of space if you're coming here with a big party for you to sit indoors or outdoors, they do not have Wi-Fi, which was a negative for me because I like to sit in the corner with my iPad and a movie and enjoy my meal. read more

Crawfish was amazing as always, crawfish cafe has become our once a week delicacy and consistently looking forward to eat such fresh, big, and very flavorful crawfish. We came here after hubby heard about my crawfish cafe experience in Bellaire. This location is down the street from us so we were overdue to try it! We got the crawfish which is currently $8.99 per pound. We both got the grail (garlic butter and Thai basil) and the signature (garlic butter and kicking Cajun). Hubby enjoyed both but he liked the signature better but I liked both and couldn't decide which one was better! The good thing is you can order by the pound if you don't know which flavors to get and you can try them all! We also got the corn, potatoes, hush puppies and garlic bread! The only thing I'd prob pass on for next time is the hush puppies. They were pretty standard. I liked the garlic bread but wanna try the crawfish cheese bread next time! Service was very good! We sat on the patio and staff always came by to see if we needed anything. It's patio weather so it was nice getting to enjoy some crawfish with some good weather. read more
