Came for trivia night, but got there late and just sat at the bar, ordered dinner and watched baseball! I had previously gotten carryout here and it wasn't good, but you get a reprieve as my food was delicious, bar staff was quick and attentive and kept my drink glass full of water and kept checking with me. The burger was good, cooked to the proper temperature and the fries were tasty with very little salt, which was perfect. It was a very loud place especially with trivia going on, but it is a heavy bar scene, so it is what I anticipated. I do look forward to coming back here for other tasty bar food, and I will certainly be back. I'm glad I gave you another shot after the carryout disaster late in 2020! I liked the music and the fact they had karaoke, but my drinks I ordered were not good. First one was a mule and it has no flavor and the second drink was a vodka and sprite, which was overpowering on the vodka (not complaining about that as I like my liqor but some people don't want to taste it when ordering a mixed drink) my food was still cold on the inside (ordered the elote balls) and the grilled cheese was just okay. I really hate writing negative reviews but sadly I have very few positive things to say. My friends and I ordered Bavarian-Style Soft Pretzels, Tator Tots, and Spicy Chicken Sandwich. And man across the board it was a solid 2. Like it was ok but something I could find at fast-food places. Now I know its a bar but I have had great bar food so gettting this food was sad. It was cooked fine and everything but just so basic and just wack. I decided to visit this place on a whim with friends after driving by. It was a nice vibe and honestly felt like one big party. Some patrons were doing karaoke which I thought was so dope. I got shrimp tacos which were just okay for the $$. The nachos were pretty good though. i had the craft house sangria which was pretty tasty too. Our server Marcellus was really great. He was friendly, fast and attentive. he made sure we were taken care of the entire night with wonderful service. Crafthouse is a bar - a big bar, but a straightforward bar. It's a large open space with plenty of bar seating, lots of high-top tables, and some regular-height tables around the sides. There was also a smallish outdoor seating area. The staff is fun and welcoming. All that said, this large straightforward bar has a wonderful selection of beer! I'm a fan of darker beer, and I was happy with the variety available on tap and in bottles...alongside the usual DC area plethora of IPAs, sours, etc. The food menu seemed large to me as well, and everything that I saw go past looked great. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, it's a brew house, not a traditional restaurant per say but disgusting... Chicken n waffles was a complete fail, pretty sure it was an eggo.. Chicken was definitely a frozen chicken patty with absolutely NO seasoning! The casing if the chicken was all in the plate because anytime I touched it, it feel off and it was dry. The potatoes were tasty but could've been cooked a little longer. I had one glad of water and never a refill when she came by our table at least three times after taking my plate. My friend ordered the Crafthouse breakfast which consisted of eggs, home fries, bacon and toast. No butter on the today, no salt and pepper on the food or the table for that matter and the toast was so hard! The server was dressed in yoga clothes with a Crafthouse hoody..I wouldn't even come back come back here even if it were free. The beers were excellent. The bartender was ... eccentric to say the least. I asked if they had the maibock listed on the menu and he took out a megaphone and yelled "do we have a WHAT?" I repeated myself and he turned his back on me and beeped the megaphone. I figured OK, he's getting the beer. But he then proceeded to serve the guys next to me. After 15 minutes he came back and asked if I wanted anything. I said the maibock. He said "Bro we don't have that." And so it went for the rest of the time I was there. I asked for a half pour, he gave me a full pour. The poor couple next to me never got their hamburger because he was too busy messing around with the megaphone and busting the customers' chops. Wine, tots, and wraps! We went for a Gal-entines dinner and had a blast! The food was really good! We didn't know it was happy hour until we sat down and saw the signs. Food (3/5): I got the Southwest Burger Wrap with tater tots for $16.99. It was a decent size, but I wish there was a bit more for that price. The tater tots were amazing! The wrap tasted like a burger and was absolutely delicious. We also got the Crafthouse Tots appetizer ($6 happy hour, $11.99 regular) to share for 4 people. One of my friends asked if the Crafthouse Tots appetizer was big enough for a meal since she ate a few hours prior, and the waitress laughed at her and said "Not a chance. The happy hour portions are way smaller than the normal portions. So it's a discount, but not really. We just give you less food" then walked away. As we browsed the menu, the table's Crafthouse Tots appetizer came out and my friend told the waitress "that's definitely big enough for one!" So she ordered that and loved it. My other friend came to Crafthouse the week prior and got the Crafthouse Nachos ($6 happy hour, $11.99 regular) and made sure to tell us NOT to order this. She LOVES nachos, but said this was just very subpar: cheese was under the chips, salsa/chili/beans was just runny tomatoes with 5 beans in it, and the sour cream was really thick like when sour cream gets a bit old/unused. Drinks (2/5): Happy hour wine came to $7 a glass. For happy hour pricing, that was expensive; I don't want to know how much they normally are. A normal happy hour price for wine is $4-$5. It's not like Crafthouse is pouring top-of-the-line wine at a happy hour special. Their chalk board said they had Chardonnay, Cabernet, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, and Prosecco available, but when I asked for the Cabernet, the waitress snidely said "What? We don't have that. Where did you see that?" When I pointed to the chalk board behind her, she scoffed and said to get something else. So I ordered the Pinot Grigio. It was good. My friend got a marg. The previous week, they always asked if she wanted salt or sugar on the rim. This time, the waitress never asked, and it never came out with a rim, even after we asked. She also got the 1/2 Bavarian Pretzel with 2oz of Beer Cheese ($6 happy hour). She described it as "questionable": burnt on the ends, uncooked in the middle, and soaked in butter and salt. She said she could only taste greasy salt instead of pretzel. The previous week, she was extremely happy with their wings. Cleanliness (5/5): The tables have signs on them if they were sanitized or not, and there is hand sanitizer in the front of the restaurant. Ambiance (3/5): Since the place is medium sized, the noise builds up pretty fast. It gets crowded in the center of the room, so we were very happy to get a window seat. They do not take reservations. We left shortly after finishing our food because we couldn't hear the girls on the other side of our table. We wanted to stay longer for drinks, but decided to go elsewhere. If I could rate this place 0 stars, I would!! Absolutely horrible service, specifically with one man--a staff member with a grey beard and a man bun. We walked up to a table, decided to move to a different one (it's seat yourself). He actually came up to us, leaned into our table, and goes "wow, now i have to clean two tables, thanks guys!" I'm sure you're imagining him saying this in a joking manner, but no. We asked him, "i'm sorry, this table just got up, it would have had to be cleaned anyways right?" Found this place on yelp while in town for work. Took my party of 1 here due to menu looking great. Convenient parking in a garage right next to restaurant. Very great location overall and well lit. Friendly waitress who brought everything promptly. Ordered buffalo chicken dip (the bread bowl was a great and delicious touch) and Brussel sprouts which were good. Crafthouse is not as good as World of Beer (what it used to be and everywhere besides NOVA is still WOB). I'm not sure why they changed the name and basically took the same menu with some things changed up. It's just as good especially the happy hour. It's now more limited and more expensive. Even the food is just not as good. But you can't go wrong on the beer and cider. Those are still good. The chicken tacos are pretty good. The pickle chips and tots are not bad either. But the bavarian pretzel with beer cheese is the best!! It is not on the HH menu though. The shrimp tacos with sriracha lime aioli is also good but sadly it's not on the HH menu either. read more

Music is still way too loud for regular conversations without yelling. Seating can be a cluster-F, especially on trivia night. It's unfortunate that my very first review on Yelp has to be a negative one. I'm from Hawai'i and I was out with friends who are from here and we decided to have dinner at crafthouse because one friend says the beer is great. We sat down at an available table and someone came to our table and the first thing he says is "Can I see some IDs?" okay...that was rude? No greeting? I showed him my Hawai'i ID, he looks at it, lifts it up to the light then proceeds to ask for another form of identification. We all asked if there was anything wrong with my drivers license and he says that Hawaii has the highest amount of fake IDs. I have NEVER heard that statement in my life, it's an absolute ridiculous accusation. It makes me wonder if his reference was from the movie Super Bad like my friends claim. According to another server the person who checked our IDs was the GM. We ate our appetizers that we had already ordered and took our business elsewhere. We found a seat by near the windows. We had come here when it was World of Beer and the inside hadn't changed much at all. We only ordered drinks while here. Friday specials are my fave, $5 margaritas which are delicious and $6 half order nachos which are also delicious and better serving size than the regular nachos (huge!). My fave app is the buffalo chicken dip, omg best app I've ever had in my life. Creamy buffalo dip with shredded chicken mixed through and cheese all served in a bread bowl and with tortilla chips on the side. Just fabulous. I've also had the buffalo chicken burger which was good. Brunch here was meh. The mimosas are a good deal as it's just 50 cent refills on Sat and Sun from 11-2. This 4-star rating is based on the beer selection, with the food as secondary. Crafthouse is a great place to find tons of beers on draft, has plenty of TVs for sports-watching, and the food is sufficient. I know they went from being a franchise to locally owned/operated a few years ago - nothing really has seemed to change, but I guess that's a good thing. Honestly, this is one of my shorter reviews - if you love craft beer, it's a great place to be able to try a very wide variety of beers (and many of them local). I honestly have found many hard-to-find beers there, including the one I most recently went there for - Alewerks' Black Forest - one I couldn't find anywhere else in the area. read more

Following up on a review left a month ago, addressing the quantity of fries served with a burger.. Back then owner publicly replied and mentioned it would be fixed... Not naive, realize that 6oz (according to waiter) might be enough to a lot of people, and not enough to a lot of other people.. Not even halfway thru my burger and I'm out of fries, all 6oz of it.. Funny, 6oz in other restaurants, comparing pictures seems like more, but this isn't a d*CK competition.. It's a matter of when I asked the staff if that was correct and that I had brought that up before maybe a simple "can we get you a tiny little more?" Instead of "that's what comes with it/take it up with the owner"(Matt),would have sufficed... I'm no food critic, but I know what I like and expect, especially working in customer service, myself, and sometimes is sooooo easy to make a customer happy, even if you complain later amongst staff... Again, the beer selection is great, the menu is ok even with little snags as this, staff keeps getting less and less friendlier, unless they know you on a first name base.. Short, almost borderline attitude and slow, real slow at times.. All in all, had a good run but got to the point of exploring other watering holes.. Food was so so; we ordered fried wings and we got baked. The kitchen was nice enough to add celery on the side, but both wings and celery came with zero dip. The craft house taters were delicious. Service was VERY slow and could be due to Trivia Night and only 1 Server working the whole restaurant (Oct 10, 2023). There were lots of employees walking around making sure tables were bussed and bringing food orders out. Our server had another employee following him around which made it even worst; unsure if the server was in training and managing to take all orders for the whole restaurant, or if the guy who was following him was only concerned about getting the food orders in for all the customers. We came to eat and to watch the game, but should've sat outside on the patio instead -- the two Trivia host leaders on stage were waaaay too loud on that mic. As far as service goes, we probably waited for at least 20-30 mjns just to get our first drink. Another 15 mins when the Server returned before we could even place our food order, and then waited some more before our food finally came out. The sports on the televisions kept us entertained while we waited, but not a place to be if you're hungry or thirsty. If you're in the mood to only play trivia, you're at the right place. read more

I have previously ordered food from here through a delivery app and it was delicious! I went here last night for trivia and realized that the service here is extremely lacking. It took entirely too long to get my drink order taken and to get my bill. I didn't even think about ordering food because I wasn't particularly hungry and realized early on in the night that it probably wasn't worth it due to service. The ambience was great and the place was clean, but something needs to be done about the poor service. I sat at the bar and everyone behind the bar were constantly on their phones and not paying attention to the patrons. Someone even came behind the bar (not sure what position he was - whether he came from kitchen, was a server or a runner) and started making Snapchat videos with one of the other guys behind the bar. Tots and sandwiches are good, but our server's inexperience showed despite the mostly empty bar. My salad was drowning in dressing, so I ended up pouring off the excess liquid onto a share plate. Only a few fries were clumpy. Plenty of TVs to watch our games while hanging out. They were out of a few beers, but there were plenty of craft brew alternatives to pick from. This place gets very rowdy on happy hour or on the weekends so keep that in mind! The food isn't bad but its not mind blowing.
