I was super decent at it lol
Rabia J.

This is a pool cafe. It consists of pool tables, some automated game machines and darts. My friend and I wanted to meet up on Monday and this was a prefect option. We played a game of darts and a game of pool. Having no skills in both games, we both still had a blast. The employees and regular patrons were nice and helpful. Once you go inside you can decide what you want to play and they will tell you what number of tables are available. They also have some food/drink options. It's regular bar food but decent. We ordered some jalapeño poppers and Tatar totes. Good portions and yum to eat while playing. They have a full bar but since both of us don't drink alcohol, we ordered some sparkling water. You can pay food, drinks, and pool rental at the bar. It's a good option in Sterling to do some activity based hangout with friends. Side Note- Location wise it's kind of hidden in the plaza, go towards the back and to the right of the plaza. And it's located on the second floor, take the elevator up to get inside of First Break Cafe.

What a fun place! It's located in Sugarland Run, in the back between some mini markets. You then walk in and go up a very very sketchy elevator that takes 5 minutes for the doors to open even though you can feel you're already stopped at that floor. And viola! You walk into a nice open place that has about 8 pool tables, couple dart boards in the back, a bar and a small dining place. Pool tables are $16.50 an hour. Can't believe it took me so long to find a pool hall thats clean and non-smoking area. Food is cheap and it's okay, I mean you get what you pay for. Everything on the menu is about $5-$10 bucks. We ordered the garlic parmesan wings, which I didn't like because not too much garlic or parmesan on it. And then bacon cheese fries, which barely had any cheese but a lot bacon. Hmm...wasn't too bad but I'll have to try the other food. Theres a special for 1.50 domestic everyday except for Wednesdays and $9 pitchers. I enjoy imported but hey beer is beer! Service is great, the bartenders/waitresses walk around to pool and darts area to get you whatever you need even when the bar is busy. Can't wait to come back!

Chicken Nachos

This is a pretty cool pool hall. Getting to it can be a bit weird but once you're there, it's a friendly place. First...getting there. You have to walk to the 'center' of the strip mall where you will see two glass doors. Go up the stairs until you can't go no farther and you have arrived. Going up the stairs gave me a few moments of pause but once I forged on, I found my destination and was pleasantly surprised. My friend and I got there a bit early so it wasn't too crowded; the bar that is. The pool tables had some activity though. We ordered the chicken nachos and while it was fresh it was definitely lacking something so we ordered a side of jalapeños which did the trick. Would I go back? Absolutely. Our bartender treated us very well and answered all of questions very patiently and friendly.

First, the hostess acted like we were an intrusion into her evening, didn't welcome us or make eye contact. She sat us at a booth, which didn't work, so she did seat us at a table. I asked for a vegetarian menu, knowing there was one, but she walked off, did not return. Our waiter was a young man, spoke very softly; we both had a difficult time hearing him. My wife ordered her drink; I asked for a few more minutes. That drink did not appear until half my meal was over, which I did not appreciate. And I had to ask 3 times to get the drink, including asking another waiter. We ordered salad and main dish; my vegetarian menu finally appeared. It just seemed both the hostess and our waiter did not care to attend to us. I do not know if we will be returning; and to top this all off, both the hostess and waiter called us 'Guys'. When two older women are sitting at the same table, we are ladies, or simply nice to see you two tonight. Please tell your wait staff to get this right. We like Bungalow Lakehouse, it is close to home, and the atmosphere is comfortable.

I was nearly abducted MORE THAN ONCE and had to FIGHT MY WAY OUT because I couldn't cover the entire bar tab. This is quite common these days. Recently both the quality of the food and the service has deteriorated. When we had dinner there in early April I had Spanakopita and Grilled Shrimp, while my wife had Grilled Bronzini. While my dinner was satisfactory the Bronzini was bland and watery. This was probably due to a grill that wasn't hot enough, and the fish was steamed rather than grilled. With Bronzini high heat is essential to obtain a smoky flavor with a crisp skin. Also, the number of waiters and servers was insufficient, and we had to wait a long time to place our order, receive our food and get the check at the end of our meal. We had dinner there again this weekend and I again had Spanakopita along with a Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken, and my wife again had the Bronzini and Beignet for desert. This time the Bronzini was over cooked and the skin was charred. She should have sent it back to the kitchen, but after waiting over 45 minutes to get our food we were both rather hungry. Beignet is a deep-fried pastry of French origin that is most frequently associated with New Orleans Creole cuisine. It is made from yeast-leavened dough and deep-fried. When properly prepared it is crisp on the outside and airy on the inside and is covered with powdered sugar and served hot. My wife has had Beignet many times at Kalypso's and thoroughly enjoyed it. This time it was awful lumps of fried dough covered with sugar. And again the waiters and servers were significantly understaffed. We had to wait for 30 minutes to place our orders, and while our waiter was polite and helpful this was unacceptable. While I understand a long wait at a busy restaurant with a large number of patrons this wasn't the case. As we were driving home from dinner we decided this would be the last time we would eat at Kalypso's. This is unfortunate, because in the past it was a very nice place for casual dining.

Although our hostess was pleasant, she was too much of a social butterfly to stay focused on tasks at her assigned tables. It took over 20 minutes to get our checks after we requested them. Meanwhile she fluttered from table to table talking to folks as if this were her house party. The food came out pretty fast. None of it was spectacular but it was what we expected from a sports bar. The mood was lively as the DJ took requests and tried to get the party going. I'm just not sure that the atmosphere and setting matched together. The hostess suggested that we got our drinks at a bar across the gaming floors as the restaurant bar was running way behind. I did and it was outside of security so I had to wait in line again to come back onto the gaming floor as the bar is at the bldg entryway before the security checkpoint.. I ordered my usual and I didn't taste it till I got to my table. It was definitely not Crown Royal Deluxe on the rocks in my cup. Nevertheless, I drank it cause I didn't want to go and fight thru security and with a bartender that may or may not know what is in their bottles. None of the food items were anything of note. I will recommend that they take suggestions from the patrons on how to make things better. It's a new casino and it shows. Hopefully I'll be able to give a better review at some point. This place has potential.
