I had the Carmel Apple croissant (yummy), my husband had the Strawberries & Cream croissant (yummy), my son had the breakfast sandwich (yummy), my daughter-in-law had the Chicken, pesto with harvarrti (sp) cheese croissant (yummy), and my granddaughter had the Sheard (sp) eggs (yummy). Tried the Melanie's Croquet Madame and the Waffle w/ Bacon, Egg, & Havarti. The waffle was a liege waffle and the sauce on it was creamy and mixed with havarti. The Croquet Madame used a kind of pastry for the bread and a sauce that was slightly sweet of milk : ). The salad was also mildly sweet. While I don't think that it was a lifechanging experience it was a very solid breakfast and an extremely nice change from what you'd normally find in Reno. Happy accident? Yes! We were intending to go to a nearby restaurant but were totally turned off by it. I've been meaning to come to Crafted Palette but keep missing it. When we got there it was pretty quiet. A few people were sitting outside despite the cold (it started snowing shortly after we sat down) and there were a few regulars that were in and out. We ordered Shired Eggs, quiche and bottomless mimosas. The menu is a la cate style which works for me here. The shirred eggs were delicious. So cheesy. Also they were a bit short staffed that day, but still very friendly and they offered us their delicious strawberries as a thank you for being patient. I've been back one other time since the end of SIP and it was just as good. Very reasonably priced, mellow atmosphere, outdoor seating, and fabulous mimosa prices. Can't wait to go again! read more

Reno's best kept secret! They totally fly under the radar but have some of the best food in town. Going there is definitely a vibe of its own, but even ordering delivery is awesome. The food is not only good, but the presentation is gorgeous. Coffee is also great! Just make sure that when you go in, you give yourself the opportunity to take in the art and really enjoy your food/drink. The instructor was great at walking us through our painting and was super flexible and helpful with any modifications we requested. Just went for the first time to a night event. I went before for food on a weekend and it was amazing. This time, my great aunt and grandmother came along. To make it even worse the bacon egg and cheese waffle my co worker did get had no damn bacon ! WTH ! Another fantastic nite out at Crafted Palette with my SIL...a really cool medium for those of us who are a little canvas challenged! Mandala stones! A cool twist on creative painting! This place makes seriously delectable snack options too! We shared a luscious cheese plate (they even had a GF cracker option for my SIL! Great service) and Grand Marnier infused mascarpone stuffed strawberries! Yummo! Both were the perfect portions for 2 gals to share whilst painting away...and both went perfect with a glass of wine! What can I say, a little wine makes my painting ability look pretty good....hahhahaha I love to see their schedule of talented artists, and their step by step instruction makes taking home your own work of art easy and attainable. OMG if I could carry this little cafe in my back pocket or on a keychain like a Polly Pocket I 100% without a doubt would. I'd pay their rent and let them live in my home. I'd do anything for them. This place is beyond amazing. Every time Ive thought about going to a café, THIS is the place I think of!! Theirs a beautiful sense of community and warmth as soon as you walk through their doors that I rarely witness on a day to day basis. Came here at a Saturday morning to try a new restaurant in Reno. Was not really pleased with the experience Pros: The place has a good atmosphere where there's some pretty artwork to look at while waiting/eating. Food was decent, nothing too special but not completely horrible. Here's where the cons really outweighs the pros for. Cons: My partner and I waited about an hour and a half before we finally got our food only for the food to be decent/okay which doesn't make up for how long we waited. My partner had ordered a coffee which also took quite a while to arrive and we almost didn't receive that because it seemed like the staff didn't know who's order belonged to who. While waiting we say many other customers who had not received their order, also had to wait a very long time before they received it, or had decided to cancel their order because the wait was so long. I had heard one of the staff members (possible the owner I'm not sure) tell someone who was waiting for a DoorDash order for about 45 minutes that they haven't even started the order and that they could either reassign the order or wait. Poor attitude towards some of the customers. They were holding a paint party event which the event was except in order to be able to accommodate everyone they had to move some tables which left a small gap between my table and the party's table. This would have been fine if the gap was big enough to allow walking except staff and other customers continuously let bumping into the two tables which is not enjoyable for us who are eating or those who are painting. This was also an issue for another couple who were sitting at a table and eventually had to take their order to go or else they would have been in the way of the painters who were placed at the same table, and they wouldn't have been able to enjoy their food if they had to be seated near a party group. My biggest issue is that the Yelp page for this restaurant says that there is validated parking yet when we asked if we could get our parking validated since we had waited a long time for our food, they told us that they don't validate parking. It shouldn't not be written on the Yelp page if the place does not actually provide that service. I can understand that the place was short staff for today and I am usually more understanding when there's an issue. However, the staff weren't that apologetic of the issue nor did they try to compensate for any of the issues, along with the false information of validated parking, all these issues make me not want to come back in the future in hopes that their service will be better. I think many of the other customers or delivery people that were in today can also say the same. read more

I love the Crafted Palette. I can let my inner artist out with a little help from my friend, mr. Merlot. Having had four strokes, I have a hard time painting, and putting my thoughts on canvas. The instructors are so friendly and helpful. I have to keep reminding myself, have fun and do not take yourself or your painting to seriously. If you book a morning session, they have delicious coffees, Mimosa's,bagels and other delicious breakfast items to tempt your palette. You really need to try this place out. Do not be intimidated. 4-stars for the paint and sips and artists at Crafted Palette! I've been here twice. 1st with two people in their 70s then again with contemporaries. The instructors are fun and helpful with people of all ages and painting abilities. The wine was good. The cheese ball is addictive. All-in-all a good time was had by both groups. Not one Rembrandt in the lot of us. Local artwork hangs on the walls. Many of the pieces are by the instructors. All are for sale. There's a series of masks of Sammy Davis Jr. The same artist (I forgot his name) did a series of masks made out of trash. One of his pieces graces the wall of my apartment with eyes of crushed soda cans and a nose of a wonton soup faux Tupperware (this might me an NYC reference). I have been to every painting and wine class in Reno (Picasso and Wine, Reno Art Bar, and Pinot's Pallet). I was excited to try a new venue in town. I was a groupon online and decided to give it a shot for a date night with my boyfriend. We picked a cute polar bear painting under the Northern Lights. The painting was named Polar Photobomb. I enjoyed this setting because it seemed smaller and quaint, they served food, the instructor took the class at nice pace, it had great rustic decor, and parking was validated. I called ahead to find out that we could park in the 1st street parking garage. Thats a great tip for future class goers. Food: **Pro- The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the cheese plate. It came with a variety of cheese: gruyere, havarti, brie, and goat cheese with drizzled honey. It was served with seeded crackers. I also ordered a cinnamon apple cranberry kale salad. It was out of this world. I totally recommend it!!! My boyfriend ordered the Pulet Brie sandwich, which contained pulled rotisserie chicken with melted brie, pesto mayo, red onion, and spring mix. The owner suggested a house cabernet for me to drink, which was quiet tasty, although I can't remember the name. **Con- No menus. They ran out. They were out of the strawberries that I saw a picture of on Yelp. They looked so tasty. Instructor: Our instructor for the night was Karen. SHE ROCKED. As an art instructor, she really encouraged everyone to step out and TRY. She wanted everyone to have fun and make it their own piece of art. The hubby and I seldom do breakfast out except for Robert's MBC. But we recently won a gift card for Crafted Palette. He's not into the evening paint and sip, and since they open at 6am, we decided to try their breakfast. It's a quaint small spot a block off the river downtown. Palette tables and stools for dining and painting at. I recommend sitting towards to back in the winter, when the door opens the draft can be chilly. We each ordered a mocha, which was probably one of the best I had had in quite awhile. It wasn't overly sweet, make with a richer dark chocolate that seemed to accent the coffee with a wonderful thick creamy froth. I would definitely go back and enjoy another one soon. Our meals had nice flavors. The Croquet Madam was interesting- I'm still looking for the ones I enjoyed in France. It was a half a croissant with ham and a poached egg ( cooked perfectly) and a slice of cheese, topped with a béchamel sauce. The sauce has nice flavor but looked a little like a light brown gravy. The side salad of kale and apples was tasty too. The hubby had a prepackaged waffle topped with bacon and an egg and a slice of havarti cheese. I consider these dishes "girly" food, great for the light eaters, but probably not enough for the guys. Two small plate breakfasts and two mochas was $25. What a fun night. This place is so easy to find,parking was no problem and it was a blast. We had groupon certificates for half off and decided on a sunday night. There website is really cool and easy to navigate, they show the painting they will work on that day, so you can surf the calendar till something perks your interest. The building is located on west street near the river. The parking can be difficult, since it is all street parking. We were greeted right when we entered, shown to our easels and given our brushes and paints. Before the instruction starts, you can go to the bar and order a wine,beer,coffee or soda. The instructors are so friendly, they wash away any inhibition you have about painting. (The wine also helps). This class is all about fun and learning,do not take yourself to seriously and the inner artist will appear. read more

Met here Sunday at 11 am for our book club. What a nice little venue. Our entire group fit around a large table and we were able to all order drinks, get a little sumpthin' sumpthin' to eat if we wanted, then have a lively, spirited discussion without having to scream. They were very upfront and warned our organizer that a big group was coming in to do a painting session in an hour, so we planned accordingly. I had a simple coffee for $2.00 and it was served in a real mug! Much appreciated that they didn't automatically just serve it in a disposable cup. Great location on West Street meant afterwards, you could have easily had access to movie theaters, the parking lot, the river or one of the dozen or so places to eat in the neighborhood. Note that they validate for garage parking for one hour. read more

What a cool little place! 1st negative: parking sucks. But not the businesses fault. 2nd negative: I feel that there are way too many seats for the small location. 3rd kind of negative: where I sat last night, the light was out above me, though apparently it's no fault of the business, the wiring is shoddy and they need to bring in an electrician. 1st positive: teacher was really great last night for the red bird canvas 2nd positive: all staff was super friendly and helpful. 3rd positive: teacher went slow enough to make sure everyone was able to get to where they needed to be. -3.5 negative that isn't really a negative, the pacing of the class was too slow for me and seems to be a theme through all the alcohol and painting classes I've been to. I do understand that they're trying to make sure all the least artistically inclined patrons make it to the end of the class with a successful beautiful piece of art to take home. It's a great place to have a girls night, family gathering, any sort of shindig. It's relaxing, fun, and easy to navigate between the awesomely crafted palette tables despite the fact that there are a lot of seats. I do recommend the place, but if you were comparing and contrasting, I wouldn't recommend this place due to parking and crammed crafting space. read more

We visited the Crafted Palette last week after purchasing a LivingSocial Deal with a bunch of our friends. We had enough people going and booked far enough in advance that the owner let us pick the painting we wanted to do. We ended up doing the Pastel Bear, and they actually came out really well! Like most of the other Painting places popping up around Reno, they offer drinks during the classes. They had local beers to choose from and a selection of wines all at a reasonable price. During the day, Crafted Palette doubles as a coffee shop and breakfast/lunch restaurant too. They have the paintings you can paint on the walls and the tables they use are refurbished palettes which make for a great ambience. My only issue is that they are tried to cram too many people into our class and the tables were so close together that it was almost impossible to get out if you needed to use the restroom, get more paint or go to the bar. The other thing is that I've been to a few different painting places in town, and I prefer when they have the plates already set with your paint. Because of the crammed tables, trying to get up and get in line to get your paint was difficult. We ended up having one person go and just bring back paint, brushes, paper towels, etc. read more

This looks as though it would be a fun place for a wine-and-painting night, but it struggles some as a coffee and breakfast location. The owner or counter person was nice enough but was not certain what the items in the small pastry case were, guessing as to what was what. The cappuccino was a nice flavor but barely lukewarm, and the breakfast sandwich prepared in the back room was, well, it highlighted the fact the person is not an experienced cook. The flavor was okay, again barely lukewarm, the sprinklings of shredded parsley on the plate just was not pleasant and the onion added was a random assortment of oddly-chopped pieces atop two pieces of prepackaged almost-warm Canadian bacon sandwiches between a store bought mini croissant. Since this is a painting locale, every table in the room was covered in paint splotches, so it was not appetizing to sit at. There was only one standard restaurant table, and it had no much paint splattered on it that I tried to clean it before sitting down since I thought it was all leftover food crumbs on the table. I would like this to survive, but it just does not give the appearance of being clean enough to eat at. Sure, I know it is all dried paint, but those paint-covered pallet-top tables don't give enough of a feel of restaurant cleanliness for me to eat there again - and this from someone who will sit on a street curb to eat food truck goodness. read more

The painting, (which I never tried) the food (which is AMAZING) beverages ( which I give a 0 stars) The Food Section - you get FIVE STARS They have the most delicious quiche and grilled cheese sandwich and their tomato soup is out of this world and pairs perfectly with the quiche or grilled cheese perfectly. My addiction is their croissant (not heated) generously filled with freshly mascarpone that is infused with top shelf or better Grand Mariner and they are NOT stingy with the alcohol giving you a true decadent taste of the alcohol. The staff who prepares are VERY NICE and service is always with a warm smile. Beverages - I like chai latte and FRESH and without an attitude when I question you about how the chai is made when I see you are using instant chai mix from a container from Pacific brands . I told the guy I would give it a try and when I did it taste DISGUSTING like murky milk with an disgusting after taste.
