Watched multiple DoorDash orders and in -person orders of people who arrived after us get made and delivered. Never checked on us. When we finally asked if they forgot us, they assured us they were "still waiting" on the kitchen. It finally showed up with fully cooked eggs. 20+ minutes for an order of avocado toast. I just stopped by during my trip here in Reno and absolutely loved the coffee here! I was told they could make any drink sugar free but later told I had fewer options which was a little sad. Nonetheless, I was pleasantly surprised with how tasty it was! They have a diverse but simple to navigate menu which I appreciated. We ordered some lattes, a cinnamon roll and a cookie. We've been a few times for brunch and lunch items. Omelettes, etc. I had to send back one item twice because they couldn't get it anything more than warm. Expectations aren't super high for a Walden's and I'm told that maybe the other locations might be a little better so I can only really speak for the Wells location. Started out with a giant chocolate chip cookie that was warmed up and an iced chai, so good! I didn't stop there, also got the cab (chicken,bacon,avocado) panini on sourdough with a side of potatoes. So delicious! I will absolutely be ordering this combo again. My hubs got the huevos rancheros and instead of a bed of chips they deep fry an entire tortilla as the base and it was awesome! So light and crispy but still packed with that awesome flavor that comes with huevos rancheros. Boy, do my family and I love Walden's! After long hikes along the Truckee, we call in an order for breakfast burritos, and they completely satisfy our cravings for a hearty breakfast post-exercise. Two of us are vegetarians, so we love the veggie options. Crunchy because it's panini grilled with tater tots and grilled vegetables. The salsa that comes in a separate container is so fresh and yummy. It's the perfect accompaniment. The coffee roast is excellent, too, and I'm super picky with my iced Americanos. It's smooth and not bitter at all. The ambiance on Wells is very basic coffeehouse, but always spotless and welcoming. Be sure to check them out when you are extra hungry. I've been to both coffee houses in the past week. Regular coffee is great, Americano pretty good but need to work on a proper creama. Staff was solid, and house in Maryberry is especially lovely. So solid 5+ for staff and coffee. Pastries are terrible. Nothing was worth eating - chocolate chip cookie, blah and tossed, cinnamon roll, not even sure what this is, like a dried puff pastry, and rubber filling/frosting. I even tried to warm it and the frosting doesn't melt? Tossed it. Muffin, was it old? I did ask each time if pastries were fresh, and was assured they were. Reno has so many fantastic pastry options with excellent coffee so I expected Walden's to be somewhat on par. Again, great staff and coffee. read more

"The perfect last bite" Breakfast burrito 6/5: This post goes above and beyond for this delicacy of a meal. To start, the burrito is big enough to share and still be full with only half. I got it with chorizo and carnitas and Lordy lord it was mouthwatering at thought. The homemade salsa is something that pairs perfectly with this dish and the ratio of potatoes, eggs, and meat was just out of this world! You may be thinking, "what about the cheese?" After the food review: Walden's has always been a place I say "I should go there more often". I've been visiting Walden's time from time since my days in college and was always impressed with their food selection. I paid $21 plus a tip to be $24 for my meal for 1 but it was good reason. There is a craftsmanship with the menu and meal that you choose. I requested for a double meat burrito? I got a double meat burrito. I asked, and I wasn't disappointed. I got good quality food, and had a great conversation. Tony was in the restaurant today and caught up to business, how things have been going, and we're able to talk for a couple minutes. The young man taking my order was newer to Reno so we had some great conversations while it looked like they were training him and he was very personable and considerate. When you have a great staff if brings in clientele. The dining area is very accommodating and at the heart of Reno. A must visit for us when we come in from Sacramento. We usually go to a different location but this day we were closest to this one. There is some parking but if the spaces are full you can street park once you turn onto their street, no street parking on Wells. It wasn't super busy when we walked in so we were able to place our orders immediately. I got a build a your own scramble with onions and jalepenos. My husband got the power scramble. The staff went above and beyond to make it a special time for my husband and I. We are in town visiting the area for the first time and came in on my husband's birthday. They were so sweet and friendly for the whole experience and even brought him a little piece of coffee cake to make him feel extra special. Jasmine made our experience so extraordinary by being such a light and joy! She came over to take a picture of us with our coffee to remember the special birthday memory and gave us great recommendations for coffee and food. The breakfast burrito smothered in sauce was DELICIOUS!! So filling and gave us plenty of leftovers for later! I ordered the peppermint tea and it was also so good. Super rich and full of flavor. I was adamant taking my wife here that we were about to have a great breakfast. We had only a few minutes before our daughter's basketball game at Reno High. I frequented Walden's years ago and assumed the same great food would be there though I was certain the menu would have changed. It did and the food still sounded amazing. We ordered an avocado toast and a scramble and two coffees. The coffees we got right away and the quality was just as I remembered. Exceptional cup of coffee. The food arrived not long after looking gorgeous. Truly stunning. But then I took a bite. The avocado was not fresh and was more of a Costco guacamole with hummus spread over that. The effect was sort of slimy. The feta on top added nothing except more sodium. Now admittedly, I don't eat out often so I can be sensitive to salt, but when I say this food was salty I mean, it was so SALTY I hesitated to take more than one bite. I grabbed some water and got down a couple more bites as I needed food before the tournament but if I'd have had time I'd have sent it back. Halfway through I confided in my wife that it was salty, she said hers was equally inedible. We abandoned our food and left. Not sure I'll try again. read more
