Anytime we are in this area of town, we always try to stop by Walden's Coffeehouse. Such a great local spot with delicious breakfast items, great coffee, and both indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter, get a number, and the food is delivered to your table. I actually really like this concept that has been popping up recently in a lot of hip and popular places around Reno -- casual, easy, and efficient. They also have bakery items, and one of our favorites is the almond bear claw. So good! This time we had the lox toast and avocado toast with bacon. Both choices were absolutely delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxed breakfast or coffee spot in Reno. read more

A common start/stop location for Reno's cycling community, I was looking forward to coffee and maybe a snack after our ride. Parking is sufficient but not plentiful and I would say weekends could get congested. Bring your patience. While there is great seating inside, the patio are is the place to be. So cute. I ordered the breakfast burrito with Chorizo. Prepared with egg, potato, cheese and protein of your choosing, the burrito was solid. I do like that they "crispen" the tortilla on a panini grill. Nice. My coffee was nothing special, just black coffee. I will say the flavor was rich and satisfying and not bitter at all. A friend commented that Walden's has the best Cappuccino. Sadly witnessed an altercation in the parking lot today with a ridiculous customer who felt parking in the single traffic lane was okay, blocking trucks from exiting the lot. I absolutely love this place! Try all their burritos and make it super! The chorizo super burrito was so amazing. The cold of the avacado and the hot from the chorizo melts in your mouth. I come here at least 5 times a month, and always bring my friends. Today I sat outside on the back patio table and almost fell over because the bench is unsafe. When my friend came back with mimosas for us mine fell over when she stood up because of how unstable the table is. We politely let the girls inside know and they just said okay and didn't care to make things right. Each visit we spend over 100$ with drinks and food and to not be given a new drink was highly disappointing an inappropriate considering the table being unstable is the reason the drink fell over. read more

Cozy, convenient, and creative breakfast place. Slightly limited menu, especially with regard to lighter options, but the food they make here is hearty and flavorful. The Smash MacWalden is exceptional--the sausage patty is juicy and tastes homemade in a good way. The prices are decent already but if you plan to come semi-regularly their $120 gift card for $100 is a very good deal. The staff is friendly--they tend to be pretty focused on what they're doing without making a lot of small talk. It can get busy during breakfast and lunch hours, so sometimes there's a line at the register but not too bad. The pastry options are a bit limited, but their biscotti, while pretty jumbo-sized, is actually very good--a bit moist/chewy as opposed to being too dry/crumbly. Their real focus is on egg dishes, which they do very well and, their mixed coffee drinks are solid if not wow-level. I went with a group of 4 and two of us received our food decently fast. We had to wait approximately 10-12 minutes longer for our friends to receive their food. By then, my breakfast was pretty cold and didn't taste good. I ordered the chorizo burrito and thought it wasn't anything special. The coffee was terrible. I asked for an iced vanilla latte coffee and they basically poured hot black coffee into a cup with ice and said, wa laaaa. My other friend ordered coffee too and wasn't pleased with his either. The coffee here is excellent; they brew Drink Coffee, Do Stuff. And their paninis are always flavorful and delicious, mostly because of their amazing sauces. And the salads!! They are so fresh and there is always the right amount of dressing. The staff is very nice and seem to like working here even with the crazy busyness of this place. I first contemplated choosing 4 stars instead of 5 as it is always so loud and crowded inside. The components, including eggs, potato's, avocado, veggie, were all cooked great and tasted fresh with the salsa provided. The portions are pretty hefty and I went home with the other half of the burrito for leftovers. The panini grill on the tortilla is such a nice touch and adds a yummy crunch. I also got a vanilla chai and it was perfectly spiced and not too hot. Walden's also has many healthy options and everything tastes like it has good quality ingredients. This quaint coffee shop and cafe is bustling from the time they open. We really enjoy the organic lattes. The wait staff is so friendly and welcoming. They have many tables inside. The breakfast burritos are huge and have that grill char that gives them the great taste and texture. They used to have tater tots in them and not sure why they stopped recently? The scones are also delicious and you can get fresh squeezed orange juice there too. There are two other locations in Reno that you can mix up pretty easily with phone orders or meeting people so make sure you have the right one. It can get pretty busy so be aware if you're going during their typical busy times. For a coffee/breakfast shop I am surprised they open so late? There have been countless times I have wanted to stop there earlier and was forced to go elsewhere. Tip: if you get a $100 gift card there they will add an additional $20. read more

Even when I ordered through a food delivery app my meal always comes properly sealed and complete. This location seems to be a bit more crowded than their wells location and the parking lot is small. Which can make it difficult to find a parking spot or table. Overall, amazing place! read more

Good burrito and sandwich spot with a delicious chai latte! They don't have a lot of vegetarian sandwich options so I got the BLTA with no bacon. Ofcourse, was still charged for the bacon and not offered a substitute like cheese etc.The bread and fruit bowl were super delicious all considered It's conveniently located next to a lot of walks/hikes that we like to do and they are pretty fast about getting you out your order. I would say getting here the earlier the better as tables fill up fast here, but during the warmer weather, they do have their outdoor seating open. My husband and I stopped in to Walden's on a Sunday morning to get some drinks and food to go. We knew we were tight on time so I had tried to order online ahead of time, and I got all the way through adding everything to the cart and trying to check out before it told me that Walden's was no longer accepting online orders. So that was a little frustrating because I had wasted time configuring the whole order for nothing. Undeterred we decided to still go and order inside. When you walk in the space has a very cozy feeling, almost like a farmhouse breakfast room. You can order to go, or you can sit and eat at the tables they have in side. They have a pretty big breakfast menu and I really wanted to try to breakfast burrito, but we since we were short on time we decided to go for something fast and we both ordered bagels with cream cheese. I was pretty surprised that just a plain bagel with cream cheese came out to over $7 which seemed very steep to me in terms of the price. The drinks came out fast with no issues, but our bagels took forever. The first one finally came out, but not the second one. I was surprised there was butter already spread on the bagel even though I hadn't asked for butter. The person who took our order initially noticed us still waiting, and asked if we had gotten the second bagel yet, and when we said no she went to check on it. It was then that she told us she forgot to charge us for the second bagel. We were going to just leave because of the time, but she said they were already making it, so we went and paid for it anyway. My only suggestion would be to have the coffee menu more visible to where you order, because I bounced back and forth trying to read the coffee menu and order. We picked a table and were brought our food pretty quickly. The burritos were fantastic! I notoriously never finish my food, so half the burrito was enough for me and then I had leftovers for later! The burrito was packed with sausage, eggs, cheese, potatoes, and I added sour cream and avocado to mine. The salsa on the side wasn't too spicy either. I'm a big fan of all of the condiments, fixings, and to-go boxes being self serve, as someone who is always afraid to ask for things We sat right next to the pastry case, so after staring longingly as the pastries for a while, we ordered a warm chocolate chip cookie to split and some apricot turnovers! I really don't like leaving bad reviews--especially for a place I used to love about 10 years ago--but here we are. Nostalgia led me back to Walden's, and let's just say... some things are better left in the past. I ordered a regular coffee and an egg white scramble. The food came out quickly, which was promising! The scramble had a "creative" presentation (let's call it avant-garde), came with sourdough toast and fruit salad, and was... okay. A little overcooked, but hey, I'm not that picky. However, the fruit salad was a different story. Fresh? Technically, yes. But the grapes were old enough to start collecting Social Security, and that kind of took away from the experience. Now, let's talk about the coffee. Oh, the coffee. I took one sip and immediately regretted all my life choices leading up to this moment. It tasted like it had been brewed during the last presidential administration. Maybe the machine needs cleaning, maybe the beans were cursed--I don't know, but I do know this: it was, without a doubt, the worst cup of coffee I've ever had. I called in a to go order. When I picked the order up, it was wrong. So I called to see if they could remake the correct order, when I showed up, they just told me they were refunding me half of my order and were going to make me pay for the correct order. Absolutely ridiculous and terrible customer service. I even made it clear over the phone to place the order so it was ready when I pick it up. Yareli was the person working and handling this matter. What a gem! My partner and I flew into town on our way out to Tahoe. We knew we'd want a satisfying breakfast before we headed up to the lake and Walden's DID NOT DISAPPOINT.
