The freshest pineapple chunks with grated yummy coconut and cool shaved (more like chunky pieces of) ice. I ate it enthusiastically untill about two thirds way and with my spoon pulled up a thick,dark hair. So gross! Ahhh! I freaked out., almost upchucked and got rid of the rest. That was about a month ago. Today. I thought I'd give him another chance it was hot out I really love their menu choices of all the fresh fruits. I went back again and ordered a couple drinks. Colibri is the best antojitos in Reno/Sparks hands down! I had an elote with a recommended agua fresca of passionfruit. First sip and it's light and refreshing, you can tell they don't use artificial syrups just like how they say, you can tell with the flavors itself. My honey had the popular chamango and the mango was perfectly ripe and soft to bite into, Along with the sorbet and chile it was delicious!! The service was so helpful explaining all the things they have and how they're made. The guy who helped us had a bright and upbeat personality and their slogan "looks good, tastes better" really lives up to its name. No better day than National Ice Cream Day to profess my love for this local business! Honestly not sure how I made it this long without writing this review because this is one special spot everyone needs to check out, especially now that they've been names #18 on Yelp's Top 100 Ice Cream Shops 2023! The difference here is they use fresh ingredients to make everything. Every syrup they use for the raspados start with fresh fruit, giving them the real flavor of it in the finished product and something not overly sweet. When it comes to ice cream, the case is stacked with 15 or so flavors of high quality ice cream. The corn for their elites and esquites is incredibly fresh and sweet, as is all the fruit from the mangoes to the coconuts! The ice cream on its own is good but it's even better when it tops one of their signature creations like a Fresada, which starts out as a strawberry raspado aka Mexican sno-cone/shave ice which gets topped with a scoop of creamy dreamy strawberry ice cream and chopped fresh strawberries too! You could also try a limonazo, which is a lime raspado with lime sherbet, super refreshing, or go classic with a banana split, waffle cone, or plain cup! The other major difference here is that this is a family owned and operated business that started as a dream, and with a lot of hard work and dedication, they've made it an absolute reality that now employs many people! I absolutely love Antojitos Colibri, they have never let me down. They have been so consistent throughout the many years that I have been a loyal customer. I always like to try antojito places, but I always compare them to Antojitos Colibri. They have everything that you would want from an antojito place and then some! Some of my favorites are the vanilla raspado, fresas con crema( both fresh and frozen. I think the frozen one is cute since it comes in the little carton), and the hot Cheetos esquite. They are also always friendly here! Never had a bad experience! I really enjoy the vanilla raspado here because it doesn't taste fake. There are some Antojito places that the vanilla flavor doesn't have that homemade taste but antojitos Colibri is not one of those places. It is so good! Something that I love from here is the esquite, especially the hot Cheetos version. Esquite is basically an elote in a cup! I think it is great here since the proportions are perfect. It is not overly mayo-y and it has the perfect creaminess. All od the flavors compliment each other without being too salty. It is the perfect snack. Uuummm... seems like they changed their recipe for chacamangos. It's literally the only thing I come here for so when I do order it I'm really craving for a specific taste. Their chacamango is suppose to have mango sorbet topped with chamoy, Tajin, mango chunks, chaca chacas and tamarind stick. The one I received from my last visit contained only about half mango sorbet and there was a creme popsicle in it... no chaca chaca and no tamarind stick either. This last visit was not satisfying for me at all and I'm not sure if I'll be back anytime soon. I don't like the new recipe, more importantly, the cream popsicle stick that was included in my supposedly chacamango. Found this place scrolling through the Gram and it did not disappoint! Went in specifically for an elote (Mexican styled corn on the cob) but instead got the esquite style (corn in cup) They slice the corn fresh off the cob and put all the same toppings you would see in an esquite but much easier to eat! They have two hot sauces either Valentina or Tapatio. Of course I had to go with the Valentina hot sauce! To bring the heat down I got a limon & tamarindo raspa (snow cone) I knew from the moment I walked in this place would be authentic and I was not wrong. They have some nice mexican music playing throughout the whole spot. The seating is outdoor with some nice big umbrellas to keep you cool in the shade. I was picking up food and decided stop by here again since I was in the area. I first discovered this place from a previous Yelp event and I'm so glad that I attended that event! Parking will be on the street or nearby the 7-eleven with a short walk. Since it was a bit of a warm day, I decided to treat ourselves to something refreshing! The inside of the store is pretty small, so they were only allowing a couple of people in. For our treats, I got a medium Esquites or corn in a cup, a large Passion Fruit/Watermelon Agua Fresca, and for checking in, a scoop of Maui Waui Sherbet! The girls inside were friendly and welcoming. My order came out pretty quick and I left in less than 5 minutes. The Esquites was yummy and they accommodated my request for a little bit of the chili. The Agua Fresca hit the spot in keeping me hydrated. I finished the Maui Waui Sherbet in my car before going home to give my boyfriend his share of the goodies. When the craving hits for Mexican Fruit Cups, this is the place! When we arrived, we were promptly greeted by a woman that was tending to people that were there before use. When we got to the counter, we told her that it was our first time there. She gave us a rundown of the shop which included; fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, fruit juices, horchata, corn, ice cream, and shaved ice. She said that all of the fruits and vegetables are fresh and are prepared when ordered. They do not pre-cut their fruits and vegetables. The fruit juices and horchata is tasted every morning to ensure the quality. They even got a food truck so that they can participate in the food truck Fridays this upcoming season according to the woman. I ordered the mango preparado and asked that it be put in a to-go container with extra chamoy and tajin. This also came with a tamarind candy on a straw. Chefs kiss! The mango was somewhat ripe, the chamoy was somewhat sweet, the tajin had a little bit of kick with saltiness and the lime gave it that extra sourness. This combination was mouth-watering. I put it in the freezer when I got home so that it could be a little cold before I ate it. She did give us a sample of the horchata and it was delicious. Full of flavor. I will definitely give that a try next time as well as the elote. I wish I got the woman's name that was helping us since I keep referring to her as "woman" or "she", but she told us that the owner made the stickers that are placed on the containers. I have it pictured below. So cute! My husband got two scoops of chocolate cookie dough which was good, but kind of a boring choice. I finally tried this sweet , refreshing treat I've been hearing so much about! I got the mango and piña Raspado and it was sweet, icy, and delicious. I also grabbed a friend her usual vanilla Raspado with lechero (sweet cream), which I tasted and that was super tasty! I'd recommend adding some to make it even more decadent! The shop itself is small but cute. There is a little bit of street parking in front, and if you want to sit for a bit, there are some tables out front. The interior only allows for one group at a time right now, and just for ordering purposes. The only bummer was I wasn't offered a small ice cream, and as I was told by a regular (after my visit), if it's your first visit, you'll get one. Sniff sniff. I was very busy this morning, running errands. I have been cleaning house and wanted to deliver used items to people who needed them. Once I was done, I was ready to treat myself! I was ready for a raspado at Antojitos Colibri! The staff was so friendly and told me what flavors were available. I was able to mix mango and guava! And since it was my first time, I got to try a scoop of ice cream! I chose Almond Fudge Espresso because I already had a fruit flavored item!
