**This review is for pretty much every Cracker Barrel that I've patronized.** So, we meet my sister here (the halfway point between Houston and Longview) when Dad goes to visit her. I'm not sure how this place became the tradition, but whatever. Dad seems to like it, and that is all that matters. Cracker Barrel is just this side of awful. Yes, the folks here are kind and the service is OK, but ... meh. It's no different than any other Cracker Barrel in that the food is marginal and the atmosphere is way too kitschy. Pancakes here are anything but fluffy. Sure, one of them had some crispy edge going on, which was decent. The other pancake seemed like an afterthought. They did an OK job on the scrambled eggs, but the rest? The breakfast sausage here is grainier than beach sand stuck to toast, and (all) the breakfast meats -- particularly the ham -- are saltier than the Black Sea. I know people raised hell when this company tried to simplify the logo, but they really should be up in arms about the way-overpriced stuff that is served here. IHOP dominates this place in every way, including not having to browse through a cheesy store on the way in and out. read more

We went to this Cracker Barrel on Sunday, Dec.14th around 10:15 am. They weren't real busy for a Sunday morning. We were seated right away but once seated, it was over 15 minutes before we had anyone come to our table. The individual who came to the table was the manager. He took our order and then our waiter (first time we had seen him since we arrived) brought our drinks to us. It was another 20-25 minutes before we received our food. When we got it, both of our eggs were cold like the food had been sitting there awhile. This may have been a one off for them as I heard one of the waitress's say a few people had called in sick. However, when a business is short-handed, it is up to the manager to step up and make sure everything is handled correctly. read more

I dined alone today after a doctors appointment. When I arrived the hostess was friendly and she seated me right away. It took a long while before the waitress came to me for my drink order. I did see her waiting on tables around me and maybe she was just busy. Once I got my drink and food she never came back to get my refill of Coke Zero. I had to flag her down and she did get my refill and she brought my tab at the same time. The waitress was friendly but she just didn't wait on me much. This seems to be the issue when I dine alone. The tab was $14 and I left her a $5 tip which was generous considering she didn't do much. As far as the food it was decent but not impressive. I had the turkey and dressing which the hostess let me know was the Thursday special. The dressing had a little too much sage in my opinion but everything else was nice! The buttermilk biscuit was my favorite item today! Will I come back? Probably not. I just can't find that favorite Cracker Barrel menu item. read more

Food is hit or miss at this location:( Today I ordered doordash for husband and I Order included (3) mommas pancakes and (1 ) order of regular hash browns. Hash browns were cold, pancakes were cold and not good. The sausage smelled funny and looked like it was over cooked. Cracker Barrel was always my favorite place to eat while traveling. Not anymore. The servicer was nice - kitchen help fell short in preparation of the food that made it to our table- my friend got the sampler entrée dish - it was cold ! The meat loaf and fried chicken was so dry she couldn't eat them. The biscuits and cornbread were off point. I ordered breakfast my grits were nasty - my eggs were cold. Very disgusting experience. To start with the waitress was good. The pancakes were really good, coffee was also good. But that's where it stops. Several items did not come out that we ordered, we had to ask for each item. Eggs were not cooked right, took a very long time to get our food after we ordered. There was only about 6 couple at the time of our visit so service should have been a lot faster. But i blame that on the cooks, not the waitress. I would not recommend if you're in any type or hurry, or ordering anything other than pancakes. read more

Cracker Barrel is one of our faves for breakfast, especially when traveling long distances by vehicle. We stopped at the Cracker Barrel on Sunday in the late morning. The restaurant wasn't packed as of yet with the after church service crowd. We both ordered the Grandma's Sampler. Our order took an unordinarily long time, and our server brought us a basket of baskets to tide us over. My guess is that some people did not make it to work this morning, causing a slow turnaround on the orders. Our food was very good. We both really enjoy the Cracker Barrel pancakes. Yum! Aw, man. I have always loved Cracker Barrel, but today I ordered the Biscuit Breakfast with sliced tomatoes. I got two sausage patties and the tomatoes but, alas, no biscuits. We were told that biscuits were being made, but they only came as we were leaving. Yes, it is called Biscuit Breakfast. Yes, I received NO biscuits. Yes, I was charged full price. We tried to order online, through the app. Had to go in and they said we had to order In house because they didn't receive the order even though we were charged for it. Had to reorder In house to get our food. They said that they can't offer refunds at the restaurant. They stopped serving oatmeal and other foods. Our experience was great. Ceci served us, and she was the best. Nice, prompt, and fun. Our meal was hot and fresh- I had trout, the hubs had meatloaf. Sides were grits and green beans. I ordered to go - everyone was pretty friendly - but the food - YUCK! The bacon was good (but it's pretty hard to mess up bacon) But the scrambled eggs are slimy/undercooked and the ham slice is all grizzle/fat and not at all like the picture advertised - I got the end of the ham or something because it looks mauled by a bear - which usually restaurants cut up the gross-looking ends of the ham to use in a hash or soup or something besides as a ham steak because it looks so unappetizing... And considering the ham steak was almost $10, I don't think it's asking too much to have it not be all fat and look good to eat. Super unhappy with the eggs and ham ... but the bacon was good! This place is the worst. I wish I could rate lower than one star but atlas I cannot. Our waitress was the only pleasent thing about our experience. We waited a hour for our food after placing our order, it was disgusting. First off, the eggs and bacon were cold. Not just on one plate but on all of them. The French toast was slimy somehow, I don't understand how they managed that but they did. And that's not even the worse part. We had a 5 year old girl with us who ordered a burger off the kids menu, she took a bite and showed us the inside and it was raw. When I say raw I mean raw, not just a little pink it was completely raw. She did not finish it and thankfully the we got the manager to take that off the bill. However, speaking of the manager, she was terrible. When we were talking about the burger to her she wouldn't even look down at it, she didn't apologize or saw anything. She stood there like a deer in headlights and I honestly don't understand how someone could be a manager if they can't handle the situation they put themselves in. I say that because we said we were going to leave but she assured us that the kitchen manager was going to be working on our food personally, why they weren't doing that in the first place was beyond me. Stopped here for breakfast on the way home from Nacogdoches. I typically only eat breakfast when I go to Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. My wife and I were able to split one meal. We ordered the Grandma's Sampler which is two buttermilk pancakes served with your own warm bottle of 100% Pure Natural Syrup, two eggs, one strip of bacon, one sausage patty, and a sampling of ham. It was also served with hashbrown casserole. As you can tell, that was more than enough food for the two of us to eat. To the best of my memory, I have never eaten a meal at any Cracker Barrel that was not breakfast. Not only is Cracker Barrel a restaurant, it is also a country store. They have several knickknacks for sale in their country store. Coincidentally enough, I found a cute pair of holiday glasses that turn you the lights on your Christmas tree into snowman. They also had glasses that would show Rudolph or a gingerbread man. Look at my photos to see what it did to our Christmas tree when you look through the glasses. I know it has nothing to do with food but I thought it was worth posting regardless. Bottom line - always serves a decent breakfast. Not the best food I've ever had but far from the worst. Went for a late lunch/early supper around 2:30 after Dr visit. Live about hour away so don't get to frequent here. Thursday special turkey & dressing, my husband's favorite. Was shocked when he ordered chicken & dumplings instead. Almost time for food to be brought out, he said something about the turkey he was getting. He was shocked when I told him he didn't order turkey and dressing! (He had been in afib all day and not thinking straight). He was so disappointed saying how he was so looking forward to t&d. I called our sweet waitress, Kayla I believe was her name, came over and she was able to make a quick switch in the kitchen and in just a few minutes our food came out. Assured us it was not a problem. I figured I would need to buy the c&d and take home and be charged with 3 meals, so glad she could "fix" with such a nice attitude. Both meals were excellent. My dad and I ate here today and the experience was less than pleasant. I understand it's a holiday weekend and it's busy, so wait times were expected. We got our drinks quickly. We waited about 40 minutes for our food to arrive. We never got bread prior to getting our food. When the food arrived, we had to chase someone down after about 5 minutes because we had no silverware. The food was decent, but not very seasoned. If I'm being picky, the chicken portions in the dumplings was pretty large, which isn't a big deal. The food and service were good. The restaurant was clean and not too busy. The biscuits were perfect!

The seating made me feel like I was sitting with other patrons - too close, no privacy. The server looked like a homeless man. That's no reflection on his character, but as a server, appearance should be a consideration. He forgot, after being asked politely, to bring a couple biscuits. The biscuits were dry and past their prime. He also didn't bring jelly, which is standard for CB's biscuits. I had to ask for jelly. There were no napkins; I had to ask for napkins. The music in the dining area blended inharmoniously with the music emanating from the retail area, which made it sound like a darkly themed carnival - not conducive to easy digestion. It seems CB's overall service and enjoyability as declined in the last few years. Sad. read more

I love Cracker Barrel. Sadly this was just a bad experience thanks to some ornery ants that made their way in the south facing window. Coupled with the fact it took far too long for a server to even come to the table so that I could inform them of the ant problem. Once I was given a different table they immediately sat an older couple at my previous table and took their drink order. I watched to see how long it would take for the couple to notice the ants. I'm itching everywhere. I still ate there though...cuz...yeah...cracker barrel. ‍ The trout was good. My server was nice. The mashed potatoes had as much flavor as baby food. The manager was sent over by the server, but he seemed super awkward. He was zero help. So I paid, told the server she'd make a better manager and left with some ants still crawling on my jeans. 1/25/21: Easiest 5 stars I've ever given. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive from the time we walked in the door until we left. Jennifer H was our server and she did a fantastic job. Checked in regularly, provided timely service, and nailed our order. Food came out unbelievably fast and everything was exactly as ordered. I read through previous reviews mentioning slow and unfriendly service. Most of these are several years old and my experience could not have been further from that. If that used to be the case, this location has clearly made an effort to improve and in my opinion has successfully done so. If you're looking for plenty of food at a great price, 10/10 would recommend swinging by. read more

I've been here many times and have enjoyed the service and food. The last few times, not so much. In fact, today I just walked out. It wasn't crowded and I was patiently waiting for a table along with one other person in front of me. We were told twice, someone will be with you shortly. I know staffing is an issue, but it didn't seem to be here. I stood for five minutes, after the person In front of me was seated. The place was not full and I expected they would be back to seat me.
