Cheddar's -- A Family Favorite Worth Returning For! This was such a great spot to spend time with family! We came in as a party of nine, and the service was absolutely fantastic. I'm not sure if it was because we went on a Friday for lunch or if their service is always this quick, but everything moved smoothly and efficiently. One waiter, in particular (I wish I had caught his name), was excellent -- attentive, gracious, and clearly proud of his work. Let's Talk About the Food! We started with the croissants and honey butter, and let me tell you -- they were amazing! I would come back to Texas just to have those again. Even after we'd let them sit for a bit, our waiter surprised us by bringing another heated plate, fresh and drizzled with that golden honey butter. It was such a thoughtful touch! For my main dish, I had the steak with broccoli casserole. The casserole brought back memories of my grandmother's recipe -- warm, cheesy, and full of flavor. It felt like a little bite of home. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and my tablemates couldn't stop talking about the ribs and green beans, which are must-tries if you go. Atmosphere & Overall Experience Since we came during a slower time, the restaurant was mostly empty, so I can't comment too much on the full dining atmosphere. But based on what my family (who are regulars) shared, it's always a friendly, family-oriented environment -- the kind of place where you can relax, laugh, and enjoy good food together. I guess I should have known Texas could not make a Monte Cristo sandwich. It was doughy and very thick crust. Disgusting.. also our waitress also had one of those nose rings that make it look like something is hanging their nostrils. It doesn't make me eat food she has handled. Worst place to eat at in Lufkin. Waited 2 hours in total (Party of 10) when we got there they told us 1 hour then made us wait another Hour. When we ordered only 2 mixed drinks and the drinks took 45 minutes to make and when we got them they were watered down, i asked 3 Times about our drinks. The food took 50 minutes to make and half was cold. Mind you the restaurant was not packed! My cousin also found a hair on her food and lost her appetite!! read more

Just got seated on a busy Saturday night in a booth. Ambiance is modern restaurant with lively atmosphere. Noise level is loud but tolerable. Our waitress was very nice and patient since we wanted to enjoy our appetizer prior to ordering food. The spinach dip was delicious and chips were okay. My wife ordered the chicken pot pie with a salad and I ordered the chicken and shrimp over rice with a side salad. Salads were fresh and generous portions. The entrees followed the salads in a rapid fashion. Certainly not what we would prefer but it seems like the concept of enjoying a salad first and then getting your hot entree has been lost at this restaurant. This is honestly one of the best restaurants in town they are the most consistent and clean! Regan was so attentive and made sure we didn't need anything which was lovely. So today cheddars was my bi weekly dinner night with grandparents for just tn. We didn't get a waiter not till 10 minutes after sitting down and a near by waiter for another table heard one of us say that we are thirsty and the waiter that overheard us said "yalls waiter hasn't come over yet?" After we said no she went into the back and got a young man. He came and got our drink order didn't return with drink until another 12 minute's then later brought our croissants and missed we had no silver ware which is kind of hard when we don't have nothing but cups and menus sitting flat on the table still. We had to ask for silver ware while he was rushing off. Then when our food came to our table I was handed a plate that no one ordered at our table also as I was unfolding my silver ware and starting to unfold a napkin to place my fork and knife there was a curly black hair short and tight curly my family are white and we all have straight or wavy hair not tightly curled black hair . Had to wait 7 mins awhile everyone else was eating and when my order came the fish was rotten on the ends of the filet . It was awful and tasted horrible it was like deep fried puss I bit into legit slime . Every pigs of fish was like this. Absolutely fed up with that I picked my plate up and went to the entrance of the Kitchen and asked for boss and owner if possible . A manger came and when I told him we waited 12 mins before our server came to get our drink order that we have to ask for refills when the kid could see legit empty cups and my order was wrong and that I had to wait 7 minutes for my actual order to come and when I took my first bite of fish I bit into rotten fish . Then mentioned I've worked in the restaurant field before and if me and my flower co workers let this slide we'd have our azzzs chewed out and fired. Manger who came to me had the blankest face of Luke why are you complaining. After all that they still handed my grandfather a full bill just minus my plate. It was empty and slow . Cheddars you officially are worse than McDonald's. Also your busboy the older man with a beard kept griping and moaning really loud and had let a few curse words fly All cause he was pissed he had to clean tables and chairs after a family was done eating . When he was griping and moaning and letting some curse words fly I was trying to salvage the experience by just having a simple conversation with my grandparents . Also on our way out I saw a roach just chilling on the both divider .If I get food poisoning, I will be filling a lawsuit . To the owner I truly hope you fire the bus boy and manager . Bus boy cleaned up the table of the birthday group front right of the building and your manger for that night thinks complaining about rotten fish isn't necessary. Also making my family still pay full price after literally every single aspect about your restaurant was dog shi. I'm surprised y'all have not been shut down or gone out of business. Don't even deserve the one star I'm forced to give to submit a review . Again if I get good poisoning expect a lawsuit . Wish I had taken pics of my rotten filets and then vids of your cursing busboy with no respect for elderly .also your restrooms are filthy filthy and lots of big food crumbs on the ground everywhere and nearby tables had food crumbs all over them . I'm currently sitting in the restaurant. I'm frozen solid because it's like 60/65 inside and the same temp outside. There's dirty dishes on tables - most waitstaff are on their phones - the hostess was in a crap mood and gave me attitude because I asked if I could eat at the bar (some places won't let you order food) and then I asked if I needed to snag a menu or if they had them at the bar - man, I'm a jerk! The bartender was nice, but kinda clueless (there was a waitress hitting on him and he was clueless to that, too, haha) - but he took forever to get my beverage because he couldn't find the wine I asked for which was right in his face... My food was meh - they served a burger no bun on paper, so of course the paper got soaked with tomato juice and so it kept tearing off into my food ... the burger itself was OK, but the bacon was flavorless (how? Scientific miracle to have flavorless bacon??) ... the onions were supposed to be grilled and were practically raw, but black on the bottoms... the broccoli casserole was good, but mostly rice (if I ask for no bun and stress about breadcrumbs, maybe mention that there's rice? SERVICE WAS POOR!!! First of all, it took FOREVER for someone to come take our order (we waited for at least 30 mins before someone finally came). Also, the food was TERRIBLE and my partner's burger was cold. One of our drinks was made wrong, and when it was mentioned to our server, he said "actually, your drink is made correctly, we just ran out of real strawberries" in a rude and sarcastic way. Bourbon Glazed Salmon Stat!!! After a long hard day of working, all I could think of is how good Cheddars Salmon and the Broccoli Cheese Casserole. The hostesses were night and sat us right away. Our waiter was new, but extremely nice. I recommend the Tennessee Tea... It was delish. The sweet taste of honey in an alcoholic beverage. You can't go to Cheddars without getting the Santa Fe dip with extra salsa (and inevitably extra chips). It never dissapoints. My meal was great. Salmon coomes just the way I like and my delish sides as well. I highly recommend the salmon. You don't have to get bourbon, they offer different choices. Overall, the service was great! The food was consistent and predictable, which is great for a hungry table of guests. I will definitely be back! read more

The hostess greeted us and sat us quickly. We ordered as soon as we sat down and waited 25-30 mins for our food to arrive and the server did not come back until he was dropping off the food. We ordered various food options such as: Chicken tenders, grilled cheese, chicken and shrimp dish and chicken Alfredo. The food was great minus the chicken and shrimp dish which should be removed from the menu because it wasn't cooked well ie hard rice, dirty shrimp and horribly plated. The service here was great , our waitress was attentive enough without smothering us. I wouldn't rate the Monte Cristo I had as great, but it was good and not overly greasy. Walk in and have not been to cheddars for a long time the place is trashy the floor is dirty and the waiter we had (female) wont name her name did not know anything about the menu it seemed which is fine didnt ask me how i wanted my steak so guess they thought I really wanted it burnt with char all over it "my favorite" and the ribs i got were dry as the Sahara desert but to make it all better as im choking almost to death the waiter is no where to be seen or called my drink has not been refilled for 30 minutes and unfortunately for me the only thing i had was my wife's unsweet tea to make the choking even worse (which isnt the restaurants fault) but did not get a refill until the check came out and the service was just terrible maybe just a novice waiter and cook but would not recommend coming here for a drink to quench your thirst or a steak that you can use as a hammer read more

I was in Lufkin on business for a few days. I've eating at the Cheddars in Beaumont many times and loved it. I read the reviews here on Yelp and was concerned. But went for it! Ended up sitting at the bar. I was the only one at the bar. Bartender is a nice fellow, but seems not very focused. It took him 10 mins to wait on me. However, he did take care of me after that. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and they were extremely tasty. Food is good and the prices are great! After observing what goes on at this location, it seems to me there is a very strange vibe going on. Music is way too loud. Wait staff don't seem to talk to the clients. I think they have no processes setup for the staff. Seems to me there is no team work going on. Restaurant decor could also use a little TLC. read more

I only came here once for a weekday lunch and had a great experience, but my friends also have been several times and had great things to say. I ordered the lunch combo with the buffalo chicken wrap and kale salad. The price was cheap ($6.99!) and I got a whole wrap and a good sized salad that was well dressed. The prices seemed really good for most of the options though honestly, and it was a nicer restaurant than I was expecting. Got home, one side missing, no gravy for the mashed potatoes, food is cold, no requested extra barbecue sauce. I'm so very upset, usually not. We went in on a Sunday night around 7:30. We ordered 4 entrees, 2 salads, and an appetizer. The appetizer, chips and queso, came out 30 minutes later after we asked where it was, no salads came with it. Another 30 minutes went by and the entrees came out, but again with no salads. Burger was like a hockey puck, literally burned solid as a rock on the bottom side. They must had run out of fries as well since there was crinkle cut fries on the burger plate, and as we were leaving, we heard someone say 86 fries. A couple sat down across from our table around when our entrees arrived, they had their chips and queso within a matter of 2 minutes sitting down. I am not sure what was going on with our specific table, but it was horrible. Also make sure you tell the hostess you are going to get alcohol or not because they have under 18 year old waiting tables and no one to run their alcoholic drinks. You will have to go to the bar and pay separately for them if you get one of these servers. read more

She apologized for the wait, but i don't think she knew how long were actually there! We ordered drinks and entrees immediately, to expedite the process. Waters and soft drinks came out after 5 minutes, but my one glass of wine took a full 10 minutes. I asked her if it was coming, and she said she was waiting on the bartender-- the restaurant and bar were virtually empty at 5:20 on a Tuesday! She was polite, but really lacked the customer service skills to make up for all of our waiting. I witnessed several servers greet tables who were sat after us, and get prompt service. The service was fine, the croissants were hot and delicious. My hubby ordered steak and shrimp with green beans and corn and I got the grilled chicken Alfredo. His plate came without the shrimp and it obviously had not been prepared yet. He enjoyed it when it came. The corn was from a can. My chicken was unenjoyable. My service on tonight was the absolute worst. My waiter was very inexperienced. Whenever he would to the table, he would always state, "I cannot slow down." Every member of my party experienced something missing from their order. Finally, after the 5th mistake, the waiter just said, "let me get my manager." The manager came over, very lackadaisical in manner, and half heartedly apologized for the waiter. I do not blame the waiter. Clearly, he was overworked and under trained. What stunned me was lack of managerial support. The managerial team at Cheddar's watched their team member flounder time and time again, and did nothing to skill him up or help him. I always eat at Cheddars whenever I go to Lufkin (which is pretty often considering I live in Nac). I always order the Spicy Mango Mojito and LAWD let me tell y'all. That drink NEVER disappoints. Tastes nothing like alcohol (mind you I HATE the taste of alcohol) and it has mango pieces in it so this drink is my #1 fav! Check it out if that's your cup of tea! I normally order anything between the Dijon Chicken & Mushrooms, Lemon Pepper Chicken, or the Key West Chicken & Shrimp! Those 3 dishes overload your tastebuds! Although it should be noted that the rice it comes with is quite salty (maybe it's only at that location?) so take note of that.
