Chicharrones plate with charro beans and corn tortillas

We enjoyed everything we ordered, especially the refried and charro beans. The kids finished their enchiladas, I loved my chicharrones plate and my husband's flautas were perfect. I would eat there again if traveling nearby.

Best breakfast burritos in east Texas, hands down. The line is always out the door even if you get there early early!

Great menudo for breakfast before a day of hunting. Open early which is great when you head out to the field.

Sooo good, cheap, authentic Mexican. Definitely filled up the craving for this girl. Stop by and try a dozen of their tamales.

We walked in during a busy breakfast rush, but there were still plenty of open tables. Once we reached the front of the line, the young lady behind the counter greeted us right away, took our order, and handed us our cups. The drink station was clean and stocked with a good selection. We grabbed a table--both the tables and floors were clean--and within about 10 minutes our food arrived. I ordered the French Toast Combo, which came with four slices of French toast, two eggs, sausage, and seasoned potatoes. The meal came out on two plates, and everything was spot on. The French toast had a perfect light crunch on the outside while staying pillowy soft inside. The scrambled eggs and sausage were solid, and the seasoned potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft inside. My wife ordered the Breakfast BLT--bacon, lettuce, tomato, fried egg, and Duke's mayo. She added a little hot sauce and absolutely loved it. Not a crumb left! She liked it so much that we also picked up a tub of their chicken salad to take home, and it was delicious later that day--no complaints at all. We'll definitely be back to Roost to try more of their menu!

But it just doesn't taste as good as it looks. Kind of bland. My favorite is red velvet cupcakes and these just don't do it for me. I have also tried the key lime pie. The one thing that counts the most is what I'm paying for and that is the food. It's just not something I crave.

I don't often post about places when I'm out of town but I had to make an exception here. This place is incredible. Low key flex, I have had pastries in soooo many different places. This place goes toe to toe with all of them. SoCal, NorCal, PNW, Italy, whatever. All places I've had baked goods and all of those places this spot is competing with. You probably can't go wrong with what you pick but the scone options, cinnamon rolls, cake balls, bon Bons, edible cookie dough, cookies, truffles, cakes, and idk is there something I'm missing? It all looked incredible. I tried a cake ball, a bon bon, a truffle, and a cookie. All strictly elite. Farmhouse bakery I love you and I hate you. I love you because yum yum so good. We were able to sit wherever we liked, and our waitress came by within about 30 seconds. She was super sweet, took our drink order right away, and returned promptly to take our meal order. The breakfast rush was still in full swing, but everything seemed to be running smoothly, and there were clearly plenty of regulars. Our food arrived in about five minutes, which was great. I got the three eggs and bacon with grits and biscuits. The eggs were scrambled just like I asked, the bacon was on the hard side, and the grits were pretty plain--but once I fixed them up, they were fine. The biscuits were delicious. My wife ordered the two eggs and bacon with hash browns and toast. They forgot to add the cheese she requested in her eggs, and her bacon was also pretty hard, but she enjoyed the hash browns and toast since both were cooked well. All in all, it's a solid spot for a quick breakfast, and we'll definitely give them another try--especially since it's close by and has a warm, inviting feel.
