I love coming to Standpipe because the staff is always so sweet and the service is fast! They have some of the best latte's here in Lufkin in my opinion. I recently tried their ham croissant sandwich and it was really solid 8.5/10. Their bacon cheddar scone is always solid 10/10! Also tried their Maple Pecan Latte with an extra shot 9.5/10 SO good! However, their Caramel Apple Fizz was waaay too sweet for me 6/10. Overall would recommend, very cute inside with lots of merch! read more

What a cute place! And yes, I had to take a picture by the big giant coffee cup outside! ;). This is a very spacious location. And the displays are great! If you are tired of the same old, sweet places...corporate coffee... please come give this place a try! The barista told me their favorite coffee was the campfire. I got it as an iced coffee and it is great! I am going to go home and add a little bit more sugar. My daughter got a very healthy latte something and she likes it. We tried the healthy muffin on the recommendation from the barista. It is wonderful! I love the healthy muffin more than I love the coffee. And I do love the coffee! While visiting family in Lufkin we ran by to grab a cup of coffee at Standpipe. This place is SO cute, and a great addition to DT Lufkin. The entrance was flocked with patrons enjoying their coffees with friends and pets on a chilly afternoon. We were greeted immediately upon entering the warm and friendly shop. There were plenty of places to sit and visit with friends or play a game/read a book. We ordered two cold brews and an iced matcha. The cold brew wasn't the best I've ever had, but still really good. My son loved the matcha. If we lived closer this would be a frequent stop! read more

I've had positive experiences here - but the lunch menu is advertised at least 30 minutes before they will actually serve it. I observed a number of patrons try to order off the lunch menu at 10:30, but were told by staff they weren't serving lunch yet. Why advertise when you can't yet serve it? Makes no sense, and usually leaves a bad taste in people's mouths about the business. Just a suggestion to advertise more appropriately! read more

Okay place. Cool inside when it's hot. My complaint is after paying $4.75 for a medium 12oz. iced drink, I find the cup is mostly ice and very little drink. I am sharing my experience visiting this lovely coffee shop in downtown Lufkin. I stopped by here yesterday on my way back to STL from the Lake Livingston area. The spacious interior of the coffee shop is beautifully designed, with ample tables and seats available for everyone to chat, catch up on work, or relax. The atmosphere of the place is so inviting that it feels like a perfect spot to hang out and unwind. We stopped by this coffee shop today . We were visiting our relatives in Kirbyville and came into Lufkin to look at antiques . We stopped into Standpipe and it was not a decision we regretted. My son , who is 5 and never drinks a smoothie, got the mango smoothie with oat milk and declared that this was the best cofffeshop on the planet. I got a cinnamon roll fall special decade with oat milk and was floored. I have a huge dairy allergy so often order from a vegan menu and this was amazing. Literally the best coffee drink I have had in years. We also sampled the vegan pumpkin bread it was amazing! We definitely already are looking forward to our next trip ! read more

First, I wanna say the shop is awesome and the coffee was great. Unfortunately, the staff needs a ton of work. I was in town for business and I stumbled upon Standpipe while I was driving through downtown. The young lady with blonde hair that helped me had no sense of customer service. Not welcoming whatsoever. A friend of mine was with me and ordered the GYRO and he thought it was amazing, so he walked over to tell her and she did not take the compliment, just rolled it over with an "Oh." I'm very observant and noticed that both the baristas were very cold toward male customers and very much cheerful and talkative toward females customers. We go back the next day and there was different staff, I was in and out so coffee was great. I go back for a third time. One of the baristas from the first day was there, a young lady with short hair. She said she'd be with me I said "no problem take your time." She walks over and just stairs at me without saying anything like she's waiting for me to order. Very unwelcoming. I asked her how she's doing and she doesn't reply so I ask again thinking she didn't hear me. She replies with "what can I get you?" her attitude was very unprofessional and rude for no reason. I think the owners should get with both of the baristas and help them out with customer service. Being the face of an establishment can make or break a business reputation and those two young ladies definitely have an "I don't care" mentality toward customers. Wish that wasn't the case because it was good coffee and and an awesome looking shop. I'd rather go somewhere with decent service. Great, local find nestled on the Main Street in Lufkin. Amid town of chain restaurants and a Starbucks off the highway, The Standpipe Coffee House is a breath of fresh air. It doesn't hurt that this local gem is open on Sunday, when most of the local spots are not. I tried their cold brew coffee with a dash of almond milk and vanilla. The coffee was bold and smooth. Cold brew is far less bitter than drip coffee, which makes it even more refreshing to sip on a hot, summer day. The coffee is not overpriced and could go neck and neck with Starbucks. I prefer the local charm of the coffeehouse. I grabbed a bag of beans on my way out and was pleased to find that they only cost $10.75. What a steal! This is my favorite coffee shop in Lufkin. It's a unique local business that adds a quaint feel to our downtown. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is inviting, and the pumpkin bread is very honestly the best I've ever eaten. Their coffee is excellent and the espresso drinks especially good. Grew up coming here. Although their staff gets a bad rep from others I always defended them and their business. I gave them the benefit of the doubt time and time again. until today. my sweet 84 year old widowed friend named Henry was banned from returning to Stand Pipe because his friendly chattiness made people feel "awkward". My friend Henry lived alone and simply desired human interaction, never hurt anyone and minded his own business. He never mooched off the shop, always purchased a coffee or smoothie and simply tried to smile or enter act with whoever wanted to talk. I was shocked and PISSED to hear that he was asked to leave and not return because his age and "lack of social skills" made people feel uncomfortable. This morning I got a cheddar bacon scone and a large mocha. Both were great and I'd highly recommend them. The scone was heated and was a little more moist than most. I am not a regular of this coffee house as I live an hour away, but they always seem to remember me when I walk in (how many Vespa scooter riders ride an hour for coffee? I do, when it's good coffee and great atmosphere). This is by far one of the better places that has happened to Lufkin's historic downtown district. It attracts an eclectic crowd from young to old; the ambiance is "NYC flat meets the nostalgic past". I love that the the owners preserved most of the original bones of the space, including an original Coca-Cola mural. It is always a joy to see art work hanging on the wall that is both for display and for sale. It's nice to be able to sit outside and watch the street traffic. Each time I come here I am pleased with the consistency in service and in product. I'd like to wowed more by a better selection in the "goodies" case but I usually get here later in the day and best is probably gone by the time arrive. A lot has been changing in the Lufkin historic downtown area (jazz club, classic movie theater, retail spaces); Standpipe was here toward the beginning and I am glad to see they are still here.
