Carrot cake
Janie I.

We ordered takeout tonight. I love the sides and the desserts. I ordered the potato casserole which once was a must have. Now its a very dry tasteless no thank you. The baked apples were fabulous as always. The dumplings were terrible. Thick, gummy and the only taste to them was flour. But the WORST part of the entire experience. I ordered 2 pieces of carrot cake. Check out the picture and ask yourself...where is the quality control? And no, they didn't charge me half price for one of these. I paid full price for both!

Their version of "eggs in the basket."

We enjoy Cracker Barrel food and eat breakfast there often when traveling. I was happy to see that eggs in the basket was brought back and found it to be consistently prepared and presented no matter which location we visited. Until today. The Hilliard OH location had their own special take on the dish, and it wasn't pretty or tasty, nor did it resemble any eggs in a basket that i have ever seen. No holes. No basket with eggs peeking through. Instead, I got, rubbery, overcooked eggs thrown onto two soggy pieces of toast covered with pallid tomato slices which were smeared with mayo. If the kitchen doesn't know how to prepare a dish, they should just fess up. My husband's blueberry pancakes were decent as always. I didn't want to make a fuss since we were on the road and needed to move on. Our server didn't ask how our meals were and made herself scarce. I am attaching a photo of my plate. We were also charged extra for the sausage although I believe it is supposed to come with the plate. Sad way to start the day.

Everything started out pretty nice. Our waitress was very nice, Our appetizer arrived and then we ordered our main course: I ordered the campfire chicken and my husband ordered the campfire beef. We waited...and waited. We noticed how the other customers were waiting also, maybe one or two had an order of fries. We we were then told that the kitchen was short staffed. We continued to wait and im sure that it was most likely an hour later with still no food. Our waitress did update us on our food. And then finally she tells me that if I still wanted the campfire chicken it would be another 5 to 10 minutes. I told her to just bring me a campfire beef instead. The food came and it was horrible. My meat looked burnt, my husband had cherry tomatoes and I didn't. The food was disappointing. Our waitress told us that the manager would comp our meal. I was ready to leave afterwards.

Cracker Barrel is always a reliable spot for classic American diner-style food, and they've even added alcohol to the menu, which is a nice touch. We ordered burgers, fish, and chicken fingers, and everything tasted great. The portions are generous, and the prices are super reasonable for the amount of food you get. Our server was so sweet, and the food came out quickly, making the whole experience even better. The kids especially loved the build-your-own hot chocolate--it was such a fun treat for them! If you're looking for a casual, family-friendly place with tasty food, Cracker Barrel never disappoints!

Just tried the new gravy and eggs-wow! Everything was delicious, with the eggs being unbelievably fluffy. Great flavor and the service was super fast. V Definitelv order this!

Service has been decent other than the fruitcake kid that started to give our food to a table that just sat down. He wasn't even our waiter/waitress. Then he got nervous went in the back and never came back out. Our waitress was decent and polite. Food was damn good and hot this go around.

I was bummed to see this Cracker Barrel only has 3 starts but despite it I've gone and tried it myself. My experience could not have been any different than those with poor experiences. As for the restaurant itself, it's your classic Cracker Barrel in every way including being very clean and busy. The staff was so friendly, like recognizably more friendly than many other places which makes you feel so welcome. I did a take out order but from what I experienced, the restaurant and staff was wonderful. As for the food - when I tell you I annihilated my food, I don't think I took a breath while eating it was so delicious. I tried the chicken n dumplings after it was recommended and it was delicious. The chicken was so tender, the dumplings were perfect, and it was pretty much homemade comfort on a plate. I also HIGHLY recommend fried okra as a side if you haven't tried before. I will definitely be returning!

I wish that I could write a good review but I can't. Everything started good with our appetizer and then it went down hill. Our waitress was kind, the kitchen staff was short staffed and it showed. My wife and I waited for over an hour for our meals that came out unappetizing to us. Our meals were free from the manager. Yeah, just wasn't a good dinner experience for us.

Was able to finally give this place a review. I've been here many times and I always enjoy it. Their breakfast has a great selection, and I went with the new pancake tacos. They're pretty good. I mainly come back for the service. They're always friendly, and that's what I love the most.

Cracker Barrel has decent food and service. The wait staff were pleasant and the ambiance is typical American country inspired.

I really enjoy Cracker Barrel. For some reason, I was craving CB earlier this week. After leaving the airport, I went directly to CB. I was greeted by a person without a smile and a low voice. I didn't even understand his greeting he spoke so low, and there was no one else around us. I think it's important for restaurants to put someone up front who is cheerful and welcoming. The service was excellent. I even left extra tip, since she let me stay a while on my laptop after finishing my meal. She was very nice. The food was really good. I like the cornbread. I loved the string beans. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes. I did not like the pinto beans, though. I don't eat meat, and I think they had pork chunks. I still had enough to eat, though.

Cracker Barrel rarely disappoints. The food is consistently good and service quick and friendly. I usually come here for breakfast before running weekend errors and get some version of the Old Timers Breakfast. If I do get dinner I make sure to save room for the chocolate Coca Cola cake. The walls are covered old timely country store signs, tools and portraits. I wonder where they get all of it especially the photos. Don't forget to check out the gift shop filled with candy, snacks, jewelry, candles, cds, local sports memorabilia, toys and seasonal items.

The atmosphere was modern with a southern twist. I'm not going to lie, I chuckled a bit when I noticed my water glass said "Bless Your Heart". In Appalachian culture, this is actually an insult. We had a large group, but the service was excellent. Very friendly, attentive, and everything was brought out timely and correctly. My food was really good! It was brunch time so I had coffee, the "Mimosa of the Moment" which was an apple cinnamon, a biscuit with blueberry preserves, and the Southern Shakshouka. All were fantastic and I would definitely get again. I also thought the price was affordable for the quantity.

My server was great. The place is really lovely and I like there is now a parking garage just steps away. I started with a specialty sip cocktail - an Orange Cinnamon Bun Old Fashioned, and ordered 3 apps since they were half-priced for happy hour. The Biscuits for a Cause (2 with butter, jam and honey), Fried Pickles (chips with ranch), and Famous Fried Green Tomatoes (I don't normally like goat cheese, but these are served with stone-ground goat cheese grits) were all fabulous and I had plenty to take home after trying all. I had a glass of red blend wine with my entree, which was the Pan-Seared Salmon. My two chosen sides were the mashed potatoes and fried okra. The salmon was perfectly cooked; it was a great dish. I also got the Rosemary & Parmesan Breakfast Potatoes to go to have with my breakfast this morning. The service, food and atmosphere were all very enjoyable. The manager also helped out bringing food, and checking on me. I would return for another meal.

Turn in at the light, and be careful about which driveway you pick- I think it's the second driveway, near a daycare, and it winds around back to the restaurant. You can see the place from James. Pretty busy at lunchtime, a few dine in and some carryout. Served cafeteria style, so you can see what you want, and drool over it. Well, there's a clear shield, but you know what I mean. I got smothered pork chops, since I hadn't had them forever. Meaty, tender, covered in gravy and onions. So so good, especially as comfort food on a cold day. You can also get them fried. Plenty of other things on the menu looked good. And all of the sides sounded good. I ended up getting one that was a mix of cabbage and greens, instead of getting the two separately, so that gave me space for another side. I went with mac & cheese. Sweetie's mom's mac is the best in the world. I'm not kidding. This is not quite that good, but is a very good homemade version, loaded with cheese, and baked in a big pan. Service was excellent. Prices are a bit steep, but good for the quantity and quality. Canned pop. Cheap plasticware. I was leery, but the pork chops were so tender that even a plastic knife pulled them apart easily. Hardly needed it. The place is not fancy inside. Old, but clean, a few booths and tables. You're there for the food, not the decor. Or, come in and pick it up and take it home. And have better silverware... I will definitely be back. I loved what I got, and was enticed by some of the other things.

Started with their version of an Old Fashioned "Our Old Pal" which features squash infused bourbon. Now, who in their right mind would find that a good thing? The waiter said it was very subtle, so I had to try it. It was nicely prepared and tasted like an Old Fashioned. We had the Brussels Sprouts and charred Octopus for appetizers. The Sprouts were outstanding. Never had them prepared with blue cheese, apricots or toasted corn nuts. The Octopus and smoked sausage was also good, but I wouldn't order it again. For dinner we both wanted the chicken, which I have a rule against, so my daughter got that and I got the beef tips. The chicken was outstanding! The beef tips were good, but not great. Glad we came and gave this place a try.
