The mayor and an orange juice
Dominique M.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast before a morning meeting and found Cracked Eggery on Yelp. I'm so glad I gave it a try! The restaurant has a super cute, well-branded vibe. There's limited indoor seating available if you'd like to dine in, though they don't ask whether your order is for dine-in or takeout. Most guests while we were there seemed to be grabbing food to go, and the place stayed steadily busy the entire time. I ordered "The Mayor" sandwich with an orange juice and a side of garlic Parmesan truffle tots. The food took about 10-15 minutes to come out, not bad at all. The tots reminded me of Burger King's hash-browns in terms of shape and texture, crispy and tasty. But the Parmesan and truffle gave them a twist. "The Mayor" is a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich served on a sweet challah bun with their signature "crack sauce" (I asked for it on the side). The sandwich was hearty and flavorful, the bun was soft and slightly sweet, the bacon was crispy and smoky, and the egg was fluffy. I didn't care for the crack sauce, but I did enjoy the white sauce that came with the tots. Overall, Cracked Eggery was a great choice.

Sausage egg and cheese

Tried Cracked Eggery for a breakfast bite, and let's just say--I left more full of bread than satisfaction. I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese with their signature Cracked Sauce. What I got was a breakfast sandwich in disguise--basically stacked on a thick hamburger bun that overwhelmed everything else. The sausage patty? Paper-thin. The egg? Present but lost. That Cracked Sauce? Definitely an acquired taste--and sadly, I didn't acquire it. I also grabbed some tater tots (solid), a fried egg (fine), and bacon--which caught me off guard with how sweet it was. Not the savory crisp I was hoping for. Maple fans might be into it, but it wasn't my jam. To be fair, I think this is one of those "try it and see if it's your vibe" places. So far, it's not mine--but I'll give them one more chance. If the next bite doesn't hit, I'll chalk it up to a flavor profile that just isn't for me.

Something new. It was my very first time going to cracked eggery. I purchased the garlic pram tater tots. Also, the animal breakfast sandwich. Everything was fresh made to order. The breakfast sandwich was kind of disappointing. Because it was kind of dry, I wasn't expecting that i through a sauce came on the sandwich. It wasn't bad don't get me wrong everything was fresh the bun was soft the bacon was crispy the way i like it. The totes was ok I'll definitely go back to try something different. They also had on a menu burritos and breakfast bowls. I walked in the restaurant was very clean very spacious It was plenty of seating. The lady took my order as soon as I walked in the restaurant. She was very nice, professional I didn't have to wait very long for my food.

Burrito was yummy but definitely a touch overpriced. I'm a Texas girl so have definitely had better but a good option in the area. Service was fast and super close to Howard!

Cracked Eggery in DC's Shaw neighborhood totally delivered on every level. I went in with high expectations and left completely satisfied--and very full. I ordered The Stoney, which was a flavor bomb of scrambled eggs, cheddar, thick-cut chorizo, caramelized onions, and chipotle aioli on a soft brioche bun. Every bite was rich, smoky, and perfectly balanced. I also tried the Jeff Spicoli, which was a lighter and fresher option. Both burritos were clearly crafted with care and packed with flavor. But the real surprise hit? The garlic parm truffle tater tots. These things were next-level--crispy, golden, and absolutely drenched in garlicky, cheesy, truffle goodness. I couldn't stop eating them even after I was full. The vibe inside was casual and upbeat, and the staff was friendly and fast despite the steady crowd. Would recommend to order ahead as we waited 20+ minutes - but worth the wait!

Great choice for a quick, casual breakfast with a slight twist on the classic egg sandwich! Cracked Eggery's menu boasts more than ten egg sandwiches served on the softest, richest challah bread and with a variety of toppings ranging from fried green tomatoes and bacon to smoked salmon and cream cheese. If you're not in the mood for bread, they also have phenomenal bowls. I usually opt for their Bittersweet Symphony, which, as the name implies, balances out a slightly bitter bite from the arugula with hot honey and peach jam. They round out the dish with a generous helping of roasted butternut squash, quinoa, and creamy ricotta, as well as, of course, a perfectly fried egg. If I want a bit more greenery in my breakfast, I also love their Everyday I'm Brusselin', which includes roasted brussels sprouts, sweet potato, quinoa, arugula, and balsamic vinaigrette (think Sweetgreen Harvest Bowl but for breakfast). However, regardless of which sandwich or bowl you order, you have to get their tots -- they're smashed to maximize the surface area for a nice, crispy shell, and they pair beautifully with any seasoning you choose to pair them with. They have a few tables where you can enjoy your tots and sandwich / bowl, as well as a long row of barstools along the window. The service is speedy and friendly, and it's the perfect spot for either a quick dine-in breakfast or to-go meal.

Solid breakfast spot that's filling and relatively affordable. I got the Abe Forman and the old bay tater tots. Both were delicious. I added a little bit of hot sauce at home to my sandwich and it was perfect. Ordered through door dash so can't speak for the inside but they got my order right and the food was still warm went it arrived at my house.

We were in town to handle so business and our flight landed early so we chose this spot for breakfast. Wanted a place close to our destination and this was a good option. When we walked in, we were a bit confused at first as Noone acknowledged us and we thought we'd have to order in a screen. Finally someone came to take our order and we each got a sandwich, no drinks. While there is some seating, it's not extensive and seems to be laid out more for quick eating and moving on which I don't have a problem with. What I had an issue with is that none of the tables had been wiped down so we had to clean off our tables ourselves. My son and I got the Major sandwich and my other son got something different. Sandwich was good and very hot and filling. The bacon on the sandwich was thick and well cooked with a hint of sweetness which rounded out the flavors nicely. My bottom bun was falling apart which made it hard to hold the sandwich. It's a busy spot with loads of delivery people constantly in and out picking up delivery orders. Great location for a quick bite on the way to work or if you live close by.

Green Eggs No Ham
Calder S.

Cracked Eggery is good but could be a bit more flavorful. I've been a few times. On my recent visit, I got the Green Eggs No Ham, which has scrambled eggs, tomatillo salsa, chives, and goat cheese. The sandwich looked great, with a golden bun and fillings peeking out the sides. There wasn't too much salsa inside, though, as some spilled out into the container. It tasted good, but needed a bit more flavor -- maybe more salt, or more salsa, or one extra ingredient. I had the same opinion on previous visits and with other sandwiches -- they look great, taste good, but just lack a little something. The Shaw location is pretty barebones, with a handful of seats. It's just counter service so nothing special.

Amazing food!!!! Ordered the basic, the animal, cuagamonca bowl and garlic parm tots... absolutely amazing! Great portions. The coffee was not good. Ended up driving to a different coffee shop instead. Please reconsider your coffee selection. It's the only thing stopping me from calling this my favorite breakfast spot. Service and ambiance were great.

I also swapped my regular fries for truffle fries, which were a great choice. My boyfriend ordered the fried chicken with biscuits and got the sausage gravy on the side. The chicken was fried perfectly with a nice crunch, the biscuits were soft, and the sausage gravy was so good you could honestly eat it by itself. My daughter got the mac and cheese with a side of fruit and cleaned her plate.. no crumbs left! I'd definitely come back, especially to try their breakfast/brunch since they serve it all day. Overall, I'd recommend Ted's for a solid breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

I ordered the BBQ lamb shoulder pita which is also apparently rated one of the seven best sandwiches in North America. I can understand it. It was actually really good. A lot of good flavors. I felt like it was going to be not filling in the beginning, but was actually quite filling and had good meat depth in the pita. They pitas are made in house, so small imperfections make it more original. It is a little bit saucy so definitely grab some napkins, but it's a ton of flavor and definitely makes sense why it's one of their signatures. Tried the pita, the labneh, the Zaatar Croissant and the Roselle/Malabar tea. The tea was my favorite. Very refreshing, with a hint of spiciness. The pita was huge; each weighed about ~6oz so one piece is generally enough for one meal. It was freshly baked and very fluffy and relatively thicker than the pitas in most restaurants. The labneh was just normal. The Zaatar Croissant was stuffed with lots of labneh and coated in Zaatar. The Zaatar smelled amazingly but did not have much taste. The labneh went well with the croissant. In short, it is an interesting cafe but not a must-visit place if you are traveling in DC -- even if you are a fan of Middle Eastern food like me:)

The appetizer and grits entrée both had a little heat or a kick behind them, but it was just enough to enhance the flavor. The pancakes were small and differently shaped and presented, but they were so good. I would've given them a five, but our server walked past us several times and forgot to refill our water glasses. I believe it was his manager who noticed that our glasses were empty and proceeded to fill them. And because of the time we came in, it couldn't be blamed on too many customers.
