I've been getting chilaquiles from them for YEARS. Used to be the hangout spots for after hours munchies. Great portions, and great prices.

Holy moly these tacos are GOOD. I got the fish (not breaded/fried but juicy and flavorful) and the chorizo (not super fatty, which I like). You can choose the toppings but obviously you should do cilantro and onion... duh. I also got a side of beans that had a nice sprinkle of cheese. I will be back for sure!! read more

Looking for some drunk 24/7 simple Mexican food? Well coyotes is just that! Great staff, large portions, open late and all the time! Great spot for quick tacos at 2am after some cocktails! Keep in mind, typical Taquería style greasy Mexican food so I stick to the basics. the al pastor tacos, carne asada tostadas and chicken burritos .. are my go to! Also, their chips and salsa also hit the spot . Nothing special, but nothing to frown upon either, You get what you pay for! Can't fail with Cheap tasty tacos. read more

I swear I will never return to this restaurant. I loved their burritos in the past but I decided to try something different. I ordered fish tacos. I tried one on yesterday and it was delicious, very tasty but today the cook just didn't seem to give a damn. The tacos had no taste to them I didn't really see any fish although I ordered extra meat. They were extra small. They tried to tell me Thats hope they come but yesterday my one taco was twice as big so I know in was ripped off. I guess they don't care for my business but it's okay cause this restaurant will never see me again. read more

don't waste your time. they let our delivery driver leave with only 1/2 of our order and then we get it..... wish we hadn't. instead of a burrito we received a soggy tortilla wrapped around a bit of meat. read more

Some of the best tacos I've ever had. Ladies here are super sweet, quick and helpful! Food is served fresh and very hot. Affordable, large menu and hefty portions. I had a fish taco (2 large pieces of white fish), a steak and a pork. All delicious, cooked perfect and flavorful. Will definitely return! read more

Coyotes Restaurant - Left to right...pork, fish, steak - Mexican Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Ordered "seasoned pork" burrito, taste was fine but it would have been nice if they put literally any effort into rolling the burrito. Not enjoyable eating all veggies and sour cream and then all meat because they can't even take the time to train employees properly read more

Great late night spot. When I order it's usually past midnight and the food gets to me hot and fast.

Service is fine. Got a steak, al pastor and fish taco. The fish taco was grilled fish, not breaded and it wasn't great. Skip it unless you like a fishy taste. Steak and al pastor were greasy, served on a double-tortilla which is fine. I preferred the steak. This one was actually good. Al pastor was okay. To drink: an horchata, which was a tad on the watery side but still good. Also, got a steak burrito which was decent. Salsa and chips are complimentary. The salsa is a little spicy but doesn't have much flavor. I'm not in a hurry to return but I might since I live in the area. read more

My Chicago taco crawl started here. Why at Coyotes? Because why not. It seems to be in the heart of the 18th St. Taco District (yes, I'm sure there's a more official name, but I like thinking about Chicago having taco districts). And know what? I thought this place was totally and completely average. Nothing wrong, but nothing great. The service was nice, though they seemed to want to have waiter service when it seemed to be somewhere to just grab your taco from the counter and sit down. The tacos themselves were fine. The fish didn't have a lot of flavor, and I had no problem with the beef. In a lesser taco market, this would be more than adequate, but I set my sights higher. read more

Open 24/7 and quickly becoming one of my favorite late-night (or early morning) spots in Chicago. The food is inexpensive considering that they offer table service. Expansive menu with too many favorites to name. Doesn't require a police presence like TBK in West Loop, which speaks volumes about the character of the neighborhood and the clientele that stops by after a night of drinking. read more

I never going here again! I been sick for two days... I got food poising from them. They need to make sure they meat are fresh.

If you give this restaurant a one star, you shouldn't have gone in in the first place. Yes it looks like your "Mexican girlfriends Uncle Pedro's garage" but would you expect to get good food from Uncle Pedro's garage? No. No you wouldn't. But you can bring an open container into Uncle Pedro's garage at 2 am, order a burrito, enjoy the company of friends, laugh, watch other people laugh, order an ice cream, watch 4 identical jeeps drive by with ground effects and bumping music, and think "God, I am lucky to be alive." read more

Decent price, good food, open late. What more can you ask for? The Steak Torta here is great! Oh, and the Horchata is probably one of the best I've ever had. DELICIOUS. If you don't get anything else, get that! read more

Good food at affordable prices! The Gorditas are my favorite! Steak is good n the al pastor is always flavorful. Lots of places have been closing really early since covid but these guys are always open late. Definitely a standby. read more

Ate here last night.... 100% amazing and authentic! Steak Quesadilla Torta milaneza de res Al Pastor Tacos- cilantro and onion only with lime Asada Tacos- cilantro and onion only with lime Guacamole- so good, I would just have preferred a little spicier! My friend also got a hibiscus drink... not sure what it was, but he raved The salsa with the chips is great, our server was a doll, and our total without tip was $33... the food could have easily fed 3-4 people, hence why we have leftovers! Gracias para comida mexicano mas sabrosa en Chicago! read more

So this spot has recently got so lazy, my food was not even fresh, my carne Asada tacos were so nasty. Literally! the meat had cartilage in it so much to the point where you couldn't eat the taco comfortably there were hard pieces. There was a huge piece of fat tissue like something off a pig, looked uncooked. Imagine having to spit that into a napkin ! That's not a pleasant experience. I was so turned off. Never ordering from here again if it's the last place on earth. Not to mention I said very little onion , they threw a whole onion on each taco. Ever have a taco with cartilage tissue, and a whole onion? Yummy. This place is a joke now. read more

Love the tacos here and staffs are always nice. My go to spot for something quick and enjoyable. Complimentary chips and salsa if you dine in is a plus. read more

Pretty solid spot for Mexican food in Pilsen. They stay open LATE.So if you're ever craving Mexican food at 4am or even later Coyotes has you covered. They can get really busy late at night. Not just with people dining in but also people coming in doing pickups for Doordash and UberEats.Service is really good too.Last time I came here the young lady who took my order made a mistake.I ordered steak gorditas and I was brought a steak burrito.I was like.....WHAAAAAT??!!!! Idk how that could have happend but I KNEEEEEWW I didnt order a burrito. But since I was in a hurry as well as hungry I told my waitress it was ok.I'd just eat the burrito NO BIG DEAL.Not like I don't like burritos too.lol.So before I was even done eating she brings me out a plate with 3 gorditas and was very apologetic. She also told me the burrito was on the house and she would pack up whatever I didnt finish so I could take it TO GO!!!! GREAT SERVICE.So YEAH,Im definitely a customer.Thumbs up!!! read more

Another great dining experience. I've never had the chance to dine at Coyotes on a Saturday during peak dinner hours, because I work in the same industry, but I had a lovely day off. I was surprised that my guest and I were only 1 of 2 tables, but that may have been because it was Labor Day weekend. The steak tacos were just as tasty, generous and all the ingredients were just as fresh. I met two new servers today. Iris & Monica, both had a great work ethic, were friendly and they directly added value to the dining experience. Most times, I eat dinner in the middle of the night on the weekends. This nightlife-driven crowd tends to create its own experience. Sometimes for better, and sometimes for worse. Tonight was a refreshing difference to the atmosphere that I'm accustomed to but with the same great food & service. read more

I had 2 tacos de lengua & 2 tacos de tripa they where good and I also liked how they cut the lengua in large slices something new that's forsure they could've made the tripa a little more crunchier but all in all very good also very friendly service and also real good horchata would definitely recommend it read more

Coyotes Restaurant - 2 tacos de lengua & 2 tacos de tripa - Mexican Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Super inexpensive and still truly traditional Mexican taqueria. The place itself is super simple, but seems decently clean. The waiter was super nice making sure that all we ordered didnt contain some ingredients that Im allergic to (I usually dont go to those small taquerias because they tend to think I dont like that specific ingredient - while I can actually die by consuming it - but this place positively surprised me on that point!). We ordered steak tacos and a guacamole. Everything was good but, omg, the guacamole was to die for!!! Im 100% coming back for more guacamole and to try other items on the menu! Ps: it was one of the only places opened on the 18th st on 4th of july, so 1 star extra for those guys! read more

Israel was really helpful in allowing me to order my vegetarian preferences and explained to me what the gordita was like... Haven't tried it yet but I'm sure it will be delicious! I wanted to talk to the manager and tell him how helpful the staff was but he didn't come out. Instead, he just asked the staff what I wanted to talk about... A little disappointing due to the fact that I was going to compliment his business! Food was delicious though! read more

Honestly the food does not taste good it all. You can find better places in Pilsen, the only good thing about this place is that it opens late read more

Gotta love this place. My ONLY complaint is the that the quality isn't always the same. Sometimes we have super insanely awesome tacos and other times they're a little sloppy and small. Either way, the taste is always great and exactly what hits the spot. We love the people who work here, they are always nice and accommodating. My favorite thing to do is to order to go and run over and pick up the food. I'm so happy to have this place so close to home! read more

Not only the best Mexican food I've had, but the most hospitable and welcoming!

This place has amazing food!! I found it one night randomly while visiting Chicago, and we have now ordered it three days in a row. The chorizo and potato burritos are among the best burritos we have ever had, the enchiladas are insane, and the tacos and quesadillas were also amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough! Authentic and delicious, Coyotes hits all the spots. read more

The 3 stars is for being open late, 2 for the taste and quality of the food. I live about 20min away, so was hoping for better taste and quality. I had a steak burrito, and chicken quesadillas. The burrito didn't have enough meat, and what was there was a little fatty and tough. The flavor was just okay. My cousin said the quesadillas are nothing to rave about. Didn't like the cheese used for them and on beans. Just something to eat. So if you live in the neighborhood, it's definitely okay, especially since it's open late. But if not, I wouldn't travel for it. read more

It's a simple Mexican restaurant, known for its late night eats (open 24/7). A little pricey to me, but the food is good (some vegan/vegetarian options) and the staff is really nice. read more

I placed an order over the phone and took a walk to the restaurant. I timed it so that I'd arrive and be able to quickly pick up my food and leave. It's a ten minute walk to the place and once I got there, there were two other people waiting for their takeout orders. I waited and waited, the two other guys left, but then about five other people came in, spoke with the employees, and left within four minutes. In total, I waited 30 minutes for only two tacos! It wasn't at all busy. When I approached them to ask what was taking so long, the dude started stuttering and said they gave my tacos to someone else and gave a half-assed apology. As soon as he told me all that, my tacos appeared about four minutes later. I don't know why this happened to today, but I hope they get it together. They're decent tacos for the price and I hated that they didn't seem to care too much that I was waiting so long. Maybe the next time I come there I'll be treated better. read more

Okay, so I came here VERY VERY drunk one night and discovered that 1) They were open late YAAAAAAAY *HICCUP* 2) They have a large amount of options on their menu 3) You can get tacos with anything you want on them. Seriously more options than any other taqueria in Pilsen. I chowed down so lovingly on those tacos..... when I left I wanted to hug the chefs, but I've been drinking for long enough now to know when not be a hot mess. I came back a few days later to validate my previous experience, and again measured that the food was very. fucking. good. This place is great, especially when it's late. read more

Ugly on the outside but delicious on the inside. After a night of clubbing me and my girls really wanted Mexican food and were originally heading to Nuevo Leon which was closed and we decided to head in here. We were hesitant, it looked dirty and run down but we were also hungry and hunger conquers all. Glad we decided to go inside. The food was so good (maybe because we were drunk but I doubt thats the case) and cheap! The food was so good that after a homeless bum asked us for change which we didn't have and then threatened us and punched the window next to our booth that we didn't even care we were in danger of being mugged and kept diving into the delicious food. Our waitress was attentive, they were blasting Mexican music and we even danced a bit. All in all I will return and deff recommend it. It's like a Mexican Diner. Open 24/7 and all the Mexican food you can think of. Being a Jersey girl, referring this as a Mexican Diner is basically saying its the creme de la creme. read more

Every time I've come to this stop it's been AFTER a night out & medium (4) consumption of alcoholic beverages. I always order the tacos de carne asada with cilantro & onions: they've always been good. Im picky about the meat and I've noticed that there's no big chunks of fat mixed in with the meat...which is a huge plus. The salsas were very bland to me. I always just squeeze some lime on them and its awesome. I totally have to go though when I'm NOT BUZZED....I only hope that I find the tacos just as delicious. read more

I Wish I knew how to say "worst taco of my life" en español. The asada steak was very dry and very hard in texture. In no way am I exaggerating. Chicken taco salad was good after I scraped off the cheese I specifically asked NOT to have added on top of my order. All of these things could be a result of Covid slow down and stressful conditions. I can understand and forgive having not the best quality steak due to it perhaps sitting a while but having my order prepared incorrectly is unacceptable. read more

I gave this restaurant 4 stars based on its service, prices, and how late it's open. There is really nothing spectacular about this place. It feels like every time I come here it's a new place. The food is good, nothing was so amazing that I felt the need to write about but it wasn't bad. We had tacos and my kids ate those up like they hadn't eaten in years which is basically a thumbs up on their end. The tacos are a decent size and they do fill them with meat which is a plus. I like that they asked how my kids wanted their lengua tacos because they do prefer to have them chopped versus the whole piece of meat. My only issue was that we decided to have the ice cream and my cookies and cream included several chunks of ice. Not the best but it tasted fine. All in all it was a good experience and I will definitely come back. read more

Affordable and always dependable. This is my late night/early morning, mid day, whenever I crave tacos. Coyotes is my go to spot! They open early and stay open even later. The service is always fast and friendly. The cashier at the counter is always friendly and eager to assist customers. My go to is always the Veggie tacos. I'm not vegan nor am I vegetarian but something about the veggie tacos here are simply too good to be true. I've tried the steak tacos on several occasions but the steak is not tender enough for my liking. Try the veggie tacos and thank me later :). read more

I wanted three chicken tacos and they messed it up and gave me a chicken and two steak. The steak was alright and the chicken was just gross. This place always has people in it so maybe it is just the tacos lacking. Anyways, service was cool and they are open late. read more

We met an immigrant from Mexico at a bar in Pilsen, and asked him to give recommendations for his favorite tacos in Chicago. He led us to Coyotes, and we were not disappointed! The inside had a hole in the wall feel that could only be paired with amazing, authentic, no frills tacos. The salsas (a green and a red) will sneak up on you, so proceed with caution. The tacos have perfectly tender tortillas, fresh toppings, and well seasoned meat! They are some of the best I've ever had! read more

When in Pilsen, great Mexican foods awaits us all. Such a lovely neighborhood filled with vibrant culture, people, shops, and of course, amazing restaurants. Right here on 18th Street, we got Coyotes Restaurant, a 24/7 Mexican restaurant filled with fan favorites such as tacos, tortas, burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, and more. Fun for the whole family! Here's your everyday sit-down type of restaurant. Very casual, very welcoming (Gives me some Los Comales vibes). No booze served here, however the drinks served should not be ignored. The Horchata is a must have. The Jamaica is also amazing. Mexican style Coke, as always, is to die for. And then, there's the food... I had the Coyote Hurraches, which included refried beans, beef jerky, chorizo, lettuce, cheese, tomato, and sour cream that packed a powerful punch in my stomach (and not in a bad, I-have-to-go-to-the-bathroom-right-away kind a way, neither), while my girl had the enchiladas rojas dinner plate with rice and beans included which smelled fantastic. Very low prices for such quality meals. I imagine this is a hot spot especially late at night after some heavy drinking. Very good service, too. Not a problem with any of the waitresses, they were all so friendly. And yes, people, this restaurant has TOUCH TUNES! WOOO! Obviously, there are the more fancier, acclaimed spots to go in Pilsen for a well defined meal of Mexican cuisine, but when money's tight, or you just wanna hang out and have some of the classics, I can't think of a better place to go to than Coyotes. read more
