I swear I will never return to this restaurant. I loved their burritos in the past but I decided to try something different. I ordered fish tacos. I tried one on yesterday and it was delicious, very tasty but today the cook just didn't seem to give a damn. The tacos had no taste to them I didn't really see any fish although I ordered extra meat. They were extra small. They tried to tell me Thats hope they come but yesterday my one taco was twice as big so I know in was ripped off. Service is fine. Got a steak, al pastor and fish taco. The fish taco was grilled fish, not breaded and it wasn't great. Skip it unless you like a fishy taste. Steak and al pastor were greasy, served on a double-tortilla which is fine. I preferred the steak. This one was actually good. Al pastor was okay. To drink: an horchata, which was a tad on the watery side but still good. Also, got a steak burrito which was decent. Salsa and chips are complimentary. Expansive menu with too many favorites to name. My Chicago taco crawl started here. Why at Coyotes? Because why not. It seems to be in the heart of the 18th St. Taco District (yes, I'm sure there's a more official name, but I like thinking about Chicago having taco districts). And know what? I thought this place was totally and completely average. Nothing wrong, but nothing great. The service was nice, though they seemed to want to have waiter service when it seemed to be somewhere to just grab your taco from the counter and sit down. The tacos themselves were fine. The fish didn't have a lot of flavor, and I had no problem with the beef. In a lesser taco market, this would be more than adequate, but I set my sights higher. read more

Steak Quesadilla Torta milaneza de res Al Pastor Tacos- cilantro and onion only with lime Asada Tacos- cilantro and onion only with lime Guacamole- so good, I would just have preferred a little spicier! So this spot has recently got so lazy, my food was not even fresh, my carne Asada tacos were so nasty. Literally! the meat had cartilage in it so much to the point where you couldn't eat the taco comfortably there were hard pieces. There was a huge piece of fat tissue like something off a pig, looked uncooked. Imagine having to spit that into a napkin ! That's not a pleasant experience. I was so turned off. Never ordering from here again if it's the last place on earth. Not to mention I said very little onion , they threw a whole onion on each taco. Another great dining experience. I've never had the chance to dine at Coyotes on a Saturday during peak dinner hours, because I work in the same industry, but I had a lovely day off. I was surprised that my guest and I were only 1 of 2 tables, but that may have been because it was Labor Day weekend. The steak tacos were just as tasty, generous and all the ingredients were just as fresh. I met two new servers today. Iris & Monica, both had a great work ethic, were friendly and they directly added value to the dining experience. Most times, I eat dinner in the middle of the night on the weekends. This nightlife-driven crowd tends to create its own experience. Sometimes for better, and sometimes for worse. Tonight was a refreshing difference to the atmosphere that I'm accustomed to but with the same great food & service. read more

I had 2 tacos de lengua & 2 tacos de tripa they where good and I also liked how they cut the lengua in large slices something new that's forsure they could've made the tripa a little more crunchier but all in all very good also very friendly service and also real good horchata would definitely recommend it read more

Super inexpensive and still truly traditional Mexican taqueria. The place itself is super simple, but seems decently clean. The waiter was super nice making sure that all we ordered didnt contain some ingredients that Im allergic to (I usually dont go to those small taquerias because they tend to think I dont like that specific ingredient - while I can actually die by consuming it - but this place positively surprised me on that point!). We ordered steak tacos and a guacamole. Everything was good but, omg, the guacamole was to die for!!! Im 100% coming back for more guacamole and to try other items on the menu! Gotta love this place. My ONLY complaint is the that the quality isn't always the same. Sometimes we have super insanely awesome tacos and other times they're a little sloppy and small. Either way, the taste is always great and exactly what hits the spot. We love the people who work here, they are always nice and accommodating. The 3 stars is for being open late, 2 for the taste and quality of the food. I live about 20min away, so was hoping for better taste and quality. I had a steak burrito, and chicken quesadillas. The burrito didn't have enough meat, and what was there was a little fatty and tough. The flavor was just okay. My cousin said the quesadillas are nothing to rave about. Didn't like the cheese used for them and on beans. Just something to eat. So if you live in the neighborhood, it's definitely okay, especially since it's open late. I placed an order over the phone and took a walk to the restaurant. I timed it so that I'd arrive and be able to quickly pick up my food and leave. It's a ten minute walk to the place and once I got there, there were two other people waiting for their takeout orders. I waited and waited, the two other guys left, but then about five other people came in, spoke with the employees, and left within four minutes. In total, I waited 30 minutes for only two tacos! It wasn't at all busy. When I approached them to ask what was taking so long, the dude started stuttering and said they gave my tacos to someone else and gave a half-assed apology. As soon as he told me all that, my tacos appeared about four minutes later. I don't know why this happened to today, but I hope they get it together. They're decent tacos for the price and I hated that they didn't seem to care too much that I was waiting so long. Maybe the next time I come there I'll be treated better. read more

I Wish I knew how to say "worst taco of my life" en español. The asada steak was very dry and very hard in texture. In no way am I exaggerating. Chicken taco salad was good after I scraped off the cheese I specifically asked NOT to have added on top of my order. The service is always fast and friendly. The cashier at the counter is always friendly and eager to assist customers. My go to is always the Veggie tacos. I'm not vegan nor am I vegetarian but something about the veggie tacos here are simply too good to be true. Here's your everyday sit-down type of restaurant. Very casual, very welcoming (Gives me some Los Comales vibes). No booze served here, however the drinks served should not be ignored. The Horchata is a must have. The Jamaica is also amazing. Mexican style Coke, as always, is to die for. And then, there's the food... I had the Coyote Hurraches, which included refried beans, beef jerky, chorizo, lettuce, cheese, tomato, and sour cream that packed a powerful punch in my stomach (and not in a bad, I-have-to-go-to-the-bathroom-right-away kind a way, neither), while my girl had the enchiladas rojas dinner plate with rice and beans included which smelled fantastic. Very low prices for such quality meals. I imagine this is a hot spot especially late at night after some heavy drinking. Very good service, too. Not a problem with any of the waitresses, they were all so friendly. And yes, people, this restaurant has TOUCH TUNES! WOOO! The inside had a hole in the wall feel that could only be paired with amazing, authentic, no frills tacos. The salsas (a green and a red) will sneak up on you, so proceed with caution. Okay, so I came here VERY VERY drunk one night and discovered that 1) They were open late YAAAAAAAY *HICCUP* 2) They have a large amount of options on their menu 3) You can get tacos with anything you want on them. After a night of clubbing me and my girls really wanted Mexican food and were originally heading to Nuevo Leon which was closed and we decided to head in here. We were hesitant, it looked dirty and run down but we were also hungry and hunger conquers all. Glad we decided to go inside. The food was so good (maybe because we were drunk but I doubt thats the case) and cheap! The food was so good that after a homeless bum asked us for change which we didn't have and then threatened us and punched the window next to our booth that we didn't even care we were in danger of being mugged and kept diving into the delicious food. Every time I've come to this stop it's been AFTER a night out & medium (4) consumption of alcoholic beverages. I always order the tacos de carne asada with cilantro & onions: they've always been good. Im picky about the meat and I've noticed that there's no big chunks of fat mixed in with the meat...which is a huge plus. The salsas were very bland to me. I always just squeeze some lime on them and its awesome. I totally have to go though when I'm NOT BUZZED....I only hope that I find the tacos just as delicious. read more

I gave this restaurant 4 stars based on its service, prices, and how late it's open. There is really nothing spectacular about this place. It feels like every time I come here it's a new place. The food is good, nothing was so amazing that I felt the need to write about but it wasn't bad. We had tacos and my kids ate those up like they hadn't eaten in years which is basically a thumbs up on their end. The tacos are a decent size and they do fill them with meat which is a plus. I like that they asked how my kids wanted their lengua tacos because they do prefer to have them chopped versus the whole piece of meat. My only issue was that we decided to have the ice cream and my cookies and cream included several chunks of ice. Not the best but it tasted fine. My friend brought me here when I said I was craving for tacos and this place was pretty cool. It was clean and the staff was so friendly. We decided to eat inside and I didn't expect that there were free chips and salsas. We ate it while waiting for our tacos and it was good, chips are crispy and the salsa has a great flavor and seasoning to it. Then when the tacos was served it looks pretty goo with nice portion size and its cheap. The tacos was great, it was delicious and I was literally satisfied. Coyotes is not for me (though largely for my level of gringo-ness). The tacos are just the meat grilled and covered in onions and cilantro, so an authentic taco and not the usual taco fare that you get in a Tex Mex place. However, I got no onions on my tacos, only cilantro. The meat was also quite dry. My al pastor taco was not at all juicy or flavorful. I also got the liver an onion taco, which was quite dry and had an incredibly strong iron taste (normally, liver does not bother me that badly). The lengua or tongue taco was by far the best- it was soft and moist, but lacked flavor. The chorizo was oily. The restaurant was moderately busy when we got there, but it took about 10-15 minutes before someone came and took our order. FYI- The servers don't speak English, and I speak no Spanish, but there was no problem in putting in an order. (just google any menu questions that you have.) Cash only. read more
