The menu is misleading--if you order the tamales appetizer you will get a variety of tamales; chicken, pork, I think chorizo (too flavorful for ground beef). If you order the meal you get just one variety. WONDERFUL staff, and warm atmosphere. read more

This has been in Bridgeport for years but I finally tried it once I moved away. It's always busy so I don't usually try. It was a good meal! Very good sized portion of food! Just wish the wait staff came and asked me for a refill for my Diet Coke. But also it was getting busier but the hour so I get why they weren't as attentive. The decor wasn't bad. A few interesting pieces of art on the walls but they don't need that to impress! They had people from all different walks of life! We stopped in for dinner a week or two ago. It was fancier inside than I expected. The service was friendly and they were also nice and accommodating to our 2 year old. The sangria and chips were good. We had the enchiladas and beef tacos, both fine. Nothing particularly note-worthy. We also shared the tamale, which had more meat than a typical tamale. We finished with the chocolate mousse cake for dessert and the consistency was like a marshmallow, which was unexpected. We life close by, so will probably dine in again in the future, but will probably try their brunch/breakfast or different entrees. read more

This was my first time going to Pancho Pistolas with my grandfather. As soon as we went in we got a table and got serviced. The staff were very friendly and helpful when I was placing my order. The establishment was clean, well lit, and had a lot of space in the restaurant. The food was amazing! I ordered Pollo a La Tampiqueña, which was delicious and the presentation was great. I thanked the waitress I had she was very sweet and told her to thank the chef in the kitchen for the food. It was a pleasant experience for me I was craving Mexican food from a Mexican restaurant instead of eating at home and this definitely hit the spot. This is a smaller restaurant. Plenty of on street parking with meters. The chips and two types of salsas were amazing. We got some guacamole - order this!!! It's so fresh and tasty. I also had a sangria which was decent but stick to margaritas or water or other soft drinks. The margarita was quickly served and tasted sweet and refreshing. Also, one was enough to get me feeling relaxed. The steak torta arrived no more than 15 minutes later. I have eaten many of these sandwiches at many different establishments so allow me to adamantly insist that this is the best! However, in order to keep the cost down you might notice the steak to bread ratio is wanting. I can use less bread so I just move all the steak to one half of the sandwich. This was my first time coming here. It's a cute little place! They came right out with our salsas, two types pico de gallo, and regular salsa. Our waitress came out with our menu. She was very nice and attentive ! Our food came out pretty fast. I ordered a enchilada Suiza dinner with green sauce, With guacamole, tamales, and a peach margarita. Their guacamole was delicious not overly salty! Just really good!! I love enchiladas with mole sauce and they do not carry it so I had to get the green sauce on my enchilada Suiza's. It was good! They gave me a nice layer of cheese on top. I enjoyed it! My mom did too she got the same but had chicken instead of steak. The only thing about the dinner was that the beans were lightly scorched. We told the waitress who offered us extra rice. It happens but that's why I had to take a half a point off. The tamales were moist and delicious! My peach margarita was delicious. Pancho Pistolas has a spot in my heart. I started coming here in 2000 and it is a huge walk down memory lane every time I come in here. I have probably had everything on the menu, twice! I just so happened to be in this area the other day so of course you know I had to stop here. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros (three over medium eggs on a tortilla covered with ranchero sauce.) It comes with rice, beans, lettuce and tomato. I also got my favorite which is whole fresh grilled jalapeno. Nothing has changed here in 24 years and that is just how it should be. Early afternoon on a Tuesday only about two other people in there and about 8 ppl working and they were all standing around acting like they were too busy to help if it wasnt their section. Beans and rice were nasty, the salsa and pico was watery, the guac was a bit ok and those margaritas NO! My favorite is actually their taco dinner. I think they make the tortilla fresh. It's super good. I dont normally like tortilla but the ones from here is just YUM! I love their fried ice cream for dessert. We normally order one ice cream for me and the kids. My husband loves their steak. Service - Friendly service. The waitress will check on us every single time. And they normally put in my kids order first since my kids tend to be really evil if they are hungry. This isn't your corner-serve mexican dive-joint, but a higher quality, full-service Mexican restaurant that's casual enough to walk in, but you know, sports cloth-napkins, artful decor, and friendly well-trained wait-staff. Menu is pretty standard for American-focused Mexican fare - tacos, burritos, enchiladas. Chips and salsa come standard and are tasty. Low key, the *breakfast* section is pretty dang good if you're craving some chorizo & eggs--served with healthy portions of rice and beans, salad, and hot tortillas. They open at 11a, but I don't mind this place for brunch! Outdoor sidewalk seating in the summer is also nice. You're probably not gonna travel across the city to come here, but it's a underrated win in Bridgeport. read more

Tonight's Service: I have been a loyal customer of Pancho Pistolas since 2014, but unfortunately, tonight's experience was extremely disappointing, and it may be my last visit. I placed an order over the phone for caldo de camarón and tilapia tacos with refried beans. When I got home, I found several items missing, including the rice for the caldo de camarón, refried beans, the fish for the tacos, chipotle sauce, and red cabbage. I called the restaurant to inform them about the issue, and they only sent the missing rice and refried beans. A few minutes later, I realized that the tacos were missing the sauce and vegetables. When I called back to ask for the rest of my order or a refund, the staff was unhelpful and dismissive even though my tilapia taco dish was incomplete missing. On top of that, when I asked to speak to the manager, I was told he was bussy, and the staff member who answered after a long wait, whose name I believe was Iris, was incredibly disrespectful, even mocking me. I was told that coming in the next day to speak with the manager wouldn't help, and that no one would be able to assist or offer a refund. I am so disappointed in how this situation was handled. This is not how a loyal customer of 10 years should be treated. I have taken friends and family from out of town to this restaurant many times, but tonight I was left without my meal and with no resolution. read more

Since when do they put carrots or red peppers and potatoes into the meat filling. I couldn't tell what the red pieces were. It's pretty pricey for the taste. It looked better than it tasted. The restaurant is decorated modern and inviting. It's small space. But I did see other customers coming and going through a connecting door. But not sure if it's part of Panchos. Whenever you go out to a restaurant the food is amazing one of the best spots for Mexican food. The flank steak is amazing she's enchiladas are great. There's a few Mexican restaurants in Bridgeport, and while the best is of course subjective, I'd reckon this is likely the nicest one. While San Jose is good for something quick (and for when you're drunk) Panchos is a good place to take say your family for a sit down dinner. While it's pricier than the other spots in the neighborhood, you get your money's worth, and the inside is nice. Several of my friends who live nearby go here quite often. In my various trips here I've gotten the gordita, the tacos, and the steak torta, all quite good. If nothing else, it's also conveniently located, right on 31st just off Halsted. It's been a neighborhood staple for as long as I've been living here for the past few years. read more
