Amazing food, wonderful service and a delightful service team! Sometimes busy but well worth the wait! read more

Sadly, they closed permanently mid July. They had the best Al pastor and carne asada! The Salsa verde was like no other salsa verde I have ever had...so good! read more

They are soo good!!! Very well seasoned meat freshly made, huge servings sooo good. Too bad they close early would pick up for dinner

This was a great place before Covid. I pulled up the last time and not 1 car in front at lunch time. In the past you had to park a block away. Horrible both times since. I go to the food truck on the next block now. read more

Ordered a torta, taco de nopales and chile relleno taco and it was $25. A bit steep for the food. My chile relleno taco had what seems like half a chile. The torta and nopal taco was much better. I will never order a chile relleno taco again ; it was $8 and had a sliver of chile and barely any cheese. The nopal taco was much better and cheaper; it was $5. The torta was good but not for $12. read more

This restaurant was amazing.. I was so impressed by the love that was put into the food. The customer service was top notch. I will definitely be back. read more

My Puerto Rican friend introduced me to this restaurant. The food is delish and always freshly prepared, it's a pick up only since Covid. My favorite juice is the cantaloupe. We also order three of whatever, because it's just that good. Cash only and they close early!! read more

Love their tacos! But I don't like that they've closed down their seating area so you can't eat there anymore.

Best steak bowls in the world. Great quality food. Awesome service quick but fresh with quality ingredients. Love the lemonade too

In a neighborhood with a plethora of taco options this is in a class all alone. Food quality...service and the amount of food given for the price is all outstanding. Call ahead if you can because its made fresh and you may have to wait a bit. I appreciate that however that means my asada hasn't been simmering on a grill for hours. Not crazy about the walk up window pit i to place post covid so I took away one star for that but I understand they had to pivot and the food quality didn't suffer. read more

This place has the best steak burritos I've had in my life. Order on the phone if you can they get pretty busy

This is the best of the cook-to-order Mexican restaurants located near Cook County Jail. Either call your order in (it's about a 10-15 minute wait if you don't) or go in person. The meats are thrown onto the flat top grill raw, no precooked beef, chicken or other protein here! I like to order the chicken or steak burrito with cheese, cilantro and onion. This thing comes in a hair under 2lbs and is all meat. Ain't got time for veggies! Be aware, parking sucks during lunch time and there are only a handful of stools if you want to eat there. It's a small dining area facing the street. Air condition is decent but not great. I've eaten here for years and have never been disappointed. Their deluxe tacos come with avocado which is a nice change. It's a place you just have to try!! read more

Some of the best tacos in the city. I'm a regular here. A hole in the wall taco stand. Its a small place that has a few bar stools if you choose to dine in. Ive had the gorditas the tacos and on the weekends the menudo. All excellent. They open at 7am and are not open late. Come early as this place gets pretty packed. Definitely worth the trip. read more

Not the best location in the City, but definitely great authentic Mexican Food! Located on 31st Street a bit West of Kedzie among many closed down factories... this joint will surprise you... Owner taking orders at register and is helpful with ordering, etc. Also, everyone in here was Mexican so you can pretty much assume it's good. Extensive menu with the usual--Tacos/ Burritos/Torta's/ Gordita's/ Etc... they also serve breakfast. Had a Carne Asada Torta--comes with Beans/Sour Cream/Cheese/Avocado and it was excellent! Also tried some Al Pastor Tacos.. Outstanding! Back in the kitchen it looks like it's "All in the Family" and it does take some time for your food but that's because good authentic food takes time! Definite must try if in the area.... GTFJD read more

Their burrito is probably one of the best I've had in the city. The steak meat is seasoned perfectly. Great tasting, great portion size and reasonably priced. Thev are a cash only establishment. Order ahead to avoid waiting in line. read more

This place was recommended by a friend and I'm glad he did! OMG freaking delicious no wonder they made it on Chicago's Best tv show! I had a carne asada burrito and a side of rice and it didn't disappoint me at all. I grew up in a mixed neighborhood on the East side of Chicago and the food took me back to a place that I frequented when I was in high school, it brought back the best memories! I have been looking for this flavor profile since the store closed in my neighborhood about 20+ years. The carne asada was tender and flavorful and the toppings were very fresh. At first glance the rice didn't have the color I'm used to seeing in Spanish rice but don't let looks fool you it was great. I can't wait to go back and I'm telling everybody I know about this restaurant! read more

The best, the freshest ingredients. I've been coming here for years, no comparison anywhere around. This food makes me happy . Please, if you have to time, try the homemade quesadilla, it is sooooo worth the wait. Mary and her family always greets you with a smile. read more

This hole in the wall spot has been around for 30 years and im just finding about it.! I was skeptical after ordering the al pastor taco as i did not see the trompo but man let me just say it was so full of flavor and charred to perfection. I loved it! It was huge too with the works.. cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado, etc. I ordered an asada gordita and barely even tasted it. I was so full after the taco. I tasted the asada meat which didn't really stand out.. maybe cause i was so into the al pastor. My bf had the guisado de res taco and al pastor gordita and he loveddd the guisado. Upon leaving the restaurant, the guy taking orders recommended the carne deshebrada, wish i'd known as it did stand out to me at first when looking at the options. He said they sell out quick. Will def be returning to try it out. Food did take a while to come out and they gave one order first before the other which i'd prefer for both to come out at the same time so i don't eat my bf's food lol.! It was worth the wait!! 2 thumbs up. read more

Los Olivos - a plate of food on a counter - Mexican Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

The only reason Los Olivos doesn't get 5 stars is their hours....only open til 4:30pm. What is that??? What if I want a gordita at 5pm for dinner? I suppose im out of luck. Little Village obviously has tons of mexican food but this is by far the best and definitely the freshest. I love the carne asada gordita. It comes complete in a handmade corn tortilla (gluten free!) piles of seasoned beef, pico de gallo, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, and several slices of avocado. As much salsa as you can stomach as well! Wash it down with a sweet & fresh mango drink and I couldn't be more satisfied. read more

They open early. After seeing this spot on Chicago's Best show I thought that I had to be good. Right away I put it on my to visit list. I was here with a friend for breakfast and I have to say that all we had was a chicken burrito and a steak burrito. They were huge in size but OK in flavor. The place is small and a little awkward, which I wouldn't care as long as the food was worth it. service is nice. They also close early. read more

Best. Tacos. Ever. I love it so much, I once drove from my place in River West on a Saturday afternoon when there was some parade going on near 26th Street just to get some tacos. It took a long time to get 'em, but it was worth every detour. Every time I go, I say I'm going to try something new, but I always get the tacos. Get the tacos. Steak tacos. read more

had a carne asada sope here yesterday morning. delicious! las week had chicken sopes, and gorditas. both delicious! I think I have eaten here at least once a week since I was introduced to it a couple months ago. it is irresistible! the food is fresh, tasty and the ladies who work there are charming! love the cantaloupe drink and limonada with my food. read more

I work in Little Village and it is always a great meal when I get lunch at Los Olivos. This place is the real deal mexican corner restaurant. Their burritos are fantastic and the tortas are amazing. Also, the staff is always extremely friendly. For example, one of my co-workers was in charge of getting dinner for his family for the evening. Since they knew he works in Little Village, they asked him to pick up some tamales. I called Los Olivos for him to check if they served tamales, which they do not. The owner called up her mother and asked if she could make a special batch for my co-worker and she happily obliged... two dozen were made fresh that afternoon. This is the kindness of the people that work there. If you're in the neighborhood around lunch time, I highly recommend it. read more

Let me just say....THE CHICKEN GORDITA IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE. Now please don't come here and expect to get your food in less than 10 minutes. It takes about 15-20 minutes for your food order, but when you walk in see them hand pressing the gordita shells you know you are in for a special treat. The customer service was amazing for such a small place and the food is seriously out of this world. My best advice is to sit down and eat your food here, taking it to go is also very delicious, but eating it here fresh is by far the BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE IN LIFE.... I know that may seem dramatic but trust me its worth it. read more

Never again I will go there, I called in to order a chicken gordita at 11:17am got there at 11:47 and wasn't ready. Fifty minutes go by so I left. Every time I went to pick up an order it wasn't ready. Waited an additional 15-20 minutes. I mean, what is the purpose of calling in an order if it is not going to be ready? They have to expand their kitchen and hire real mexican cooks that can multitask. The guy in the cash register will ask you the same question 4 times. I'm done venting, sorry olivos you lost another customer. read more

Always supporting small businesses. This place is a gem. I love chorizo and papa quesadillas(handmade tortillas) Recommend to call to make your order for pick up because they do get busy. Love the staff, very welcoming. read more

Best huge burritos in town, the gorditas are also delicious but do take a bit of time to be made. One of the best Mexican restaurants in south side cash only read more

Meat quality is poor. They focus more on quantity. Food is either to salty or stale. I will not return here again.

I've had their food twice and I love it. I have seriously been craving this place for such a long time. Their gorditas are amazing. They come packed with aguacate, lettuce, cheese, and a bunch more delicious ingredients. Their portions are big so you will not be left feeling hungry. The food is fresh and really tasty. Even after I have finished eating and I am full, I find myself wanting more. I have not had their tortas, but my cousin swears by them. The only downside I can think of is that they close at 4pm and have very limited parking, but don't let this stop you from going there! read more

In my opinion they have the best burritos in the area. Really friendly staff made to order. And changes can be made to menu items at little to no cost! read more

One of the best lunch spots for Mexican food in Little Village. Had many things on the menu but two things stand out to me: 1. CHICKEN TACOS- pulled off the bone and toasted on the griddle to make it a little crispy. 2. Cantaloupe drink- refreshing on a hot day and washes everything down. Avoid going around 1130-1230 For the main lunch rush. Food takes a little longer than normal but it is steaming hot when it gets to you. Always fresh topppings, and very generous portions, never have to ask for extra anything! Average meal about 8 bucks but they do have a $10 credit card minimum. Just a lunch counter spot so don't expect anything fancy. A MUST GO TO SPOT! read more

Love this place .my favorite for gorditas. Tacos. Hand made and fresh. Very nice staff and I love their coffee.

Food is great, but there is a seating problem in the restaurant. They could use a bigger eating area and later hours for dinner.
