I've heard a ton of chatter about the carne asasda tacos at Supermercado La Internacial and was in the neighborhood so........... It turned out to not be "chatter"! It turned out to be "gospel"! I can honestly say, that my two heaping carne asada tacos were the best tacos I've had in this wonderful city of Chicago! Yes, that's right; even beating out La Chaparrita and Asian Cuisine Express. This "Back of the Market" taco counter was ridiculously good, ridiculously generous , and ridiculously inexpensive. Wow - I call that a trifecta. This afternoon, the counter was packed; and I could see why. They have a complete assortment of tacos, but their signature taco is The Carne Asada. This taco is put together so well and loaded with heaps of meat, the next time I come here, I'm bringing a spoon. What a lovely "Find" my #3 son and his fiancee turned me on to. read more

I've read a lot of reviews saying this is the hands down best taco spot. I highly disagree. I've gone now 5 times. The carne asada is unseasoned. You get a lot of meat ALOT. But there is no flavor. I personally love the chorizo but it's very greasy The chicken is seasoned with yellow and green peppers along with tomatoes which I did not like nor did I expect it when I ordered it asking for only cilantro on top. They are quick to get you in and out even when there is a long line. But I'll say again best tacos in Chicago? no way read more

What up yelpers? Today the fat boy thought I'd try what is supposed to be the best tacos in Chicago. This place has been trending heavy as the best in the city. Well I decided to see for myself. This place is a supermarket located in the back of the yard area in the city. They have a small parking lot for the customers and you can also park on the street. The wifey and I went in and it's definitely a Mexican market. Lots of authentic Mexican products. They don't sell any produce except for some Avocados (at least that's All I saw) they do have a butcher area where you can get some fresh meats, chicharrons & carnitas. But the Tacos are in the rear. As we headed towards the back to place our order you notice the eating area where they have stainless steel counters with some stools, plenty of napkins & salsas. Nothing special but very clean! My wife speaks Spanish so she ordered for us. We got 6 tacos at $4.75 per taco. We ordered 1-Asada, rajas con queso, picadillo, carnitas, chorizo and a pollo. All tacos come with chopped onions & cilantro & lime. Wifey has a Horchata and I had a Jarritos (grapefruit flavor). The lady who took our order was very nice. They were crowded but they get your order out fast!! For the tacos. The Asada (steak) was very tender and flavorful nothing special just a good taco. 6/10 at best. The Rajas con queso (peppers & cheese) was very good! It had a nice subtle heat to it also very flavorful 6.5/10. The Picadillo (ground beef) was just ok to me. a little oily for my liking but it also had great flavor 6.3/10. The Carnitas (pork) was very tender and stewed down seasoned very well 6/10. The chorizo (Mexican sausage) was probably my favorite to my surprise because I've never had a chorizo taco that ever liked but this one was fire! Nice texture and seasoning. The only drawback for me was it also was pretty oily. 6.8/10. The Pollo (chicken) Very tender & very flavorful 6/10. I had some of my wife's Horchata and it was nice and refreshing. It had a nice amount of cinnamon & sugar I really enjoyed it. 9/10. They have red & green salsas on the tables. I like Green salsa myself. Theirs wasn't spicy but it was delicious. I liked the consistency of the salsa. 7.5/10 i just wish it was spicy! They give you a lot of meat in the tacos LOTS of meat! Definitely a bang for your buck. As far as them being the best tacos in Chicago? Not close to that. Now granted I haven't had every taco in the city I know these aren't the best tacos in the city. I've had better. If I'm in the area and I have a taste for tacos, maybe I'll drop by. But it's not worth a trip there just for tacos when there are better tacos in Chicago. All in all I'd give them a solid 7/10. Not bad but not great! More hype than anything. Remember people ALL REVIEWS ARE SUBJECTIVE read more

The food was so good! I really enjoyed all four tacos, they were delicious and very filling. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, too! They have a small seating area, which is a nice touch since the restaurant is located in the back of a grocery store. I really enjoyed the service and was so happy to have their tacos again! read more

This is one of several supermercados with a casual taqueria counter inside, great place for tacos of all kinds. Very convenient to grab a Coca, snacks, or groceries in the next aisle. We got lucky and were even given a batch of grilled jalapeno peppers for free as an extra snack. 10/10 read more

Paid street parking with some indoor seating. Restaurant in back of grocery store. You can smell the aroma from the outside. You must place your own order at the register even if you're dining in. A small line at register on a Monday afternoon. Clerk speaks and understands English. Ample cooks, everybody works together. Food was prepared swiftly and hot off the grill. Not all parts of the chicken was chopped finely. Pollo options include stewed or marinated. The menu reports chicken chorizo but not actually available. Only corn tortillas. They don't have those mixed peppers w the marinated carrots and cauliflower, only jalapeños. No rice no beans, only tacos. High priced at $4.75 plus tax for each one. They are loaded w flavorful meat. They are delicious but not the best in the area. I'd go back and recommend. read more

Amazing tacos. Just recently moved into the area and had heard about this place from friends and will definitely be coming here for my taco fix. It's a clean Latin grocery store that offers many meats and anything that you'd need to make meals at home. The tacos can be ordered towards the back and are prepared fast. You can also sit and eat the too. Did I mention they give you plenty of meat? Everyone was also very friendly. I recommend trying all their offerings, I may go back tonight. read more

Absolutely fantastic. Some of the best steak tacos I have ever had. Parking is a little tight but worth the trip.

This review is for the Paco's Tacos served at the back of the store. The tacos here never disappoint. I have been to this location a handful of times with my boyfriend, and have tried the carne asada and pollo guisado tacos. The carne asada tacos were delectable. The meat was tender and juicy, bursting with flavor. The pollo guisado were quite good too, but nothing beats the carne asada. I always smother my tacos with the salsa verde - literally so addicting! The people are always friendly and the service is quick, even during busy hours. Seating is limited, which may be a problem if you are looking to eat there. The last time I was there, I was with my dad who is handicapped and unable to get onto the high bar stools. It was a slight setback for us, but when he saw others getting their tacos, he pushed a chair aside and decided to stand instead of sit at the counter. He said that the setback was not even a setback if the tacos looked that good. Once he took his first bite, he proclaimed that he would always eat here no matter what the seating situation is. I looked into it and I'll have to try out the other Paco's locations that are stand alone and have more accessible seating, but this location gets five stars from my dad and I! read more

This location is smallest of the three. The taqueria is at the back of the restaurant and has a few tables. Unfortunately there isn't enough tables for amount of business this location gets. It's get packed! Fortunately, we got there before the rush came and found a couple seats open to watch the magic happen. I ordered their carne Asada and al pastor tacos. Both were phenomenal. And both tacos were packed full of meat. That's what I love about Pacos Tacos. Their consistency and the no skimping on the meat. Although they don't use skirt steak here either, it is still tasty and full of flavor. The al pastor was also tasty. The last time I had an al pastor at Pacos, something felt off. Perhaps it just needed to be cooked a little longer. But glad to see it was just an off day on the al pastor, because I enjoyed them this time. Pacos tacos is definitely Top 5 tacos in the city. Can't wait to come back! read more

Super good tacos. The location is convenient and cute. The restaurant is in the back of the grocery store. The service is great and fast!

Hidden gem for tacos! Prices for one taco $4.25 each, but they are definitely worth it. Come prepared to wait there is always a line. The home made salsas are great, the red salsa is super spicy. I tried a carne asada taco, Al pastor taco, and a chicharrón verde taco. All the tacos were delicious, but the chicharrón verde taco is one of the best I have tried. Will definitely be back to try some of the other tacos available. Just a watch out is inside a small grocery store. read more

They have a taco joint in this place that's got the same menu as Paco's Tacos. They are Paco's Tacos. Tacos are delicious but there's so much meat it spills out and you have to eat with your hands It would be nice if they provided forks read more

This is a good (but not great) taco spot on the southside. I think I favored this spot more because it's tucked away in the back of a neighborhood grocery store. The store itself resembles more of a mini mart. I ordered two carne asada tacos and horchata for $6.95; they don't charge tax. The horchata was delicious and one of the better ones I have had in Chicago. It tasted more balanced whereas some others I have tried have been extremely sweet or others have skipped cinnamon altogether. This place is definitely popular among the southsiders in the area and it appears to have a steady stream of business. If you can't grab a seat at the counter, where you can watch them prepare the food, you might be able to grab one of the few tables available. read more

The best tacos in Chicago! All you have to do is walk inside the store and follow the signs and delicious smell

Had 2 friends that I had eaten here so I knew I had to try it out! I got 5 tacos. 2 Barbacoa, 2 carnitas, 1 chiccarones taco. I really enjoyed the Carnitas and chiccarones tacos. Onion and cilantro on my tacos. They're not stingy with the salsa! Some folks were eating their tacos in the store and you can see the cook at the grill. It's inside of a supermarket which is something different than I'm used to but if you need to pick me up a few things you can kill 2 birdsb with one stone. 5 tacos for about $13. It's tough to beat that from a price to delisciousness ratio. read more

3.5 stars. Very solid tacos for about $3 each. I prefer a charred flavor with my carne asada tacos, but these were lacking. Still good flavor though. We tried just about every taco on the menu and they were all pretty good. The horchata is house made, but was too sweet the day I stopped in. Not worth a special trip, but if you're within 10 mins grab a few tacos. read more

Pros: - Barbacoa and carnitas are very fresh, moist, and flavorful - They don't skimp on meat. The tacos are packed! Bang for your buck - Salsa is very fresh and homemade Cons: - Tortilla shells aren't fresh or homemade Conclusion: - Not bad. There are just better options nearby, where they make fresh tortillas with more corn flavor, and the meat is even more flavorful (ex: La Barca for cecina tacos or Taqueria Tayahua for carbonado or cecina) read more

I recommend the food the food is very good the service is right on time okay and it's a nice place to hang out at

Have you ever been scared to write a review in fear of the place being discovered and then you wont be able to get your favorite tacos of all time? I sit here in fear as I type this. SO DAMN SERIOUS. This place is the absolute JOINT. I know it sounds weird, tacos in the back of a store, but i would not lead you astray Yelpers. I order the carnitas, pastor and asada, onion and cilantro with avocado. These tacos are stuffed to the max and worth every penny they charge, These tacos are so good that I was totally silent throughout the darn meal. Its real simple, you order, you pay, sit down, go get your food, eat, leave. In between att that is the taco and how packed with flavor it is and juicy. Not all tacos are created equal and let me tell you, La International reigns supreme. Chiles provided upon request and the place is absolutely bustling. I recommend this for all taco connoisseurs. The service is friendly and they run this place like a well oiled machine. Prices are super reasonable. Counter seating with a few other table strewn about. Great for a quick little lunch. read more

My family has been going to this spot for 20 years and we have never had a bad experience. The tacos are worth it

Bomb tacos! This taqueria is in the back of a grocery store so its hidden away. They have huge tacos. I always get tongue which are $4 per taco which is pricey but they are worth it. Never come during lunch time or on the weekends because it is so full. They have a counter around the grill so there is not enough seating area. Its pretty much an in and out sorta place. Only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because I love my tacos with with hot cheetos. So I usually buy my cheetos located at the front of the store and walk to back to get my tacos. One day I did just that. As I was seated already eating one of the waitresses asked me for proof that I had paid them. Since I paid literally 1.50 for the cheetos I didnt ask for a receipt. Well the waitress made me stop eating and walk to front to verify. Extremely uncool. She apologized afterwards because I told her she could of easily waited until I was done eating but she made me get up walk to the front with my taco in hand. Anyways the tacos are bomb!! read more
