Been coming here for years when I visit town. Tortillas made on site with delicious corn masa. About as good tortillas as any I've had north of the border. The chicharrones are fresh & delicious. I buy some to take home & snack on. Got the carne asada torta & carnitas taco. Carne asada meat was good as was the torta. Just not great. But the carnitas was delicious! Will come back again & again for it. Excited to try the other meats. At nearly $5/taco a bit pricey but they are generously stuffed. I'm from Los Angeles and the flavor and taste of the tacos are like some of the best in LA. Although tacos are like $5 per taco, they give you 2 milagrafo tortilla and with a lot of meat. The portions are huge. Al pastor ($4.75)- lots of orange flavor, nice char. But it's different and crispy like on a spitz but that's okay. Lengua ($5.75)- cooked extremely well, soft, no game taste Carnitas ($4.75)- superb flavor. I would get this again. Chicharron ($4.75)- probably a little fatty for me. Sad times .. I've been coming to this Pacos tacos since they first opened.. I've seen people come and go never had an issue so I tried 3 different times to see if service will get back to normal but there is a lady that refuses to get orders right and when you try to ask for what you want her default is attitude like your wrong.. she isn't only reason why I gave a one star.. it's my sons taco came with some shrimp in the steak taco and so had to get rid of everything due to being allergic to shellfish.. read more

Pacos Tacos is one of those places you call home, a hidden gem, located in multiple places around the city. This place is a first thing you have to do if you come from out of town or if you are a permanent resident in chicago. Its an iconic location to eat an incredible meal and it top of that you have the rare opportunity to interact with the chef, while cooking your tacos, right in front of your eyes! The best tacos on the south side all of Chicago. Been coming here since i moved to the city.  My go to is the steak tacos with everything on the them, onions, cilantro, a touch of lime and don't forget the red and also green homemade salsa. The meat is so soft and I love the flavor that comes with every bite, Very genuine. If you are still hungry, for seconds i have to go with the barbacoa tacos, those are even better and so tender. specially with a cold Jaritos for a drink. I was a big fan of their al pastor from their archer location, but this locations tasted a bit different. Perhaps it needed to be cooked longer, but the meat was to moist and not enough tenderness. It still had a good flavor but not what I remembered. I also ordered a lengua taco. It's pricey at $4 a taco but a very good tasting taco. The tacos here are huge and definitely worth the price. Their service is very quick here. Their staff is not the friendliest nor the most welcoming but still get the job done. We sat at the counter watching the cooks make their magic. They also offer carnitas and chicharron at a different counter at a very decent low price. read more

After a day of running errands, why not end it with some authentic, good tacos? I've been to this restaurant once before and it was good but this time it was DELICIOUS. I ordered chicken and steak tacos. Usually I am skeptical about chicken tacos because most places serve dry meat which takes away flavor but these were great!! Both the chicken and steak were flavorful and they give a nice amount of meat. Customer service is 10/10. My cashier was fast, the food was ready in about 3-5 minutes and accurate! I've been to their other two locations. Only thing I didn't care for is the small and too sweet horchata for $2.50! Better off getting a bottle beverage from the fridge for the same price. For the north-siders, suburb dwellers, and out-of-towners, Paco's tacos, in my book, are worth the drive! I no longer venture often to the south side of Chicago, but I get my taco fix whenever I am out and about in the neighborhood. Out of the three (3) locations, the seating in "Paco's Tacos 2" is the most ample and has their own parking lot (even though the space is quite limited). Hubby and I found free street parking right in front of the restaurant without encountering any difficulty. We came here during the Sunday dinner rush. However, the wait was reasonable because the cashiers and cooks worked extremely fast. I got my usual picks: tacos de carne asada, barbacoa, y al pastor ($2.75/ea., as of 01/13/2019). I felt the prices gone up when I hesitated whether or not I should get the lengua, which was $4. Oh well, that really wasn't the deal breaker; I was just "tongue-twisted." Anyway, hope some of you got my humor. I surely will get the taco de lengua, after I acquire my next paycheck. Overall, I was satisfied with the taste of all three (3) I ordered in this trip. The meat was juicy and tender. I love how much lime juice every time I saw a cook pour onto the meat while grilling. I love limes and anything lemon-y. With that being said, that could have been the reason why I am diggin' Paco's tacos! Their salsa roja and verde were excellent as well. They weren't too spicy, but the flavors were on-point. The salsa bottles are usually scattered around the tables for the dine-in patrons. Make sure you are able to take advantage of the sauces and use generously on these delicious, delightful, finger-licking tacos. Hubby commented that their torta de carne asada was also tasty. I took a brief glance on that; it certainly looked pleasurably appetizing. I really don't have anything negative to say about "Paco's Tacos," except the condition of dining tables can be a bit messy. This place was recommended by a family friend and of course my parents were all about driving out of the way to discover this gem. I'm a huge fan of steak tacos (with cilantro and onions because you cannot have it any other way) and so are my parents so we literally ordered 10 of them between us. The tacos were way bigger than what I expected for the price! There's 2 different types of hot sauces (red and green, which you can get from the fridge along the wall). They were both delicious and complimented the tacos well! I believe the green one was spicier. Customer service is amazing! The women working behind the counter were so nice and accommodating because we did not speak Spanish! (10/10!) This is a counter service restaurant with a bunch of seats along the walls (bar seating, no actual tables). There's a parking lot adjacent to the building, but it was super packed! Unfortunately, had a poor bad experience coming to these place today. Seems like the Coronavirus was affecting the cashier today. Furthermore, I had to wait for my order for 20 minutes until I told the lady cashier what happened to my order . She reply, I don't know what your talking about . Not only I waited 20 Minutes, but Irate and agitated I asked for my money. She reply, were is your receipt . I said, you have a copy don't you . The yellow copy to be specific and she couldn't find it . Instead, of horse playing with the cooks and being dumbfounded of what she was doing, I said pay more attention . I took two pounds to give it a shot, got home and prepared it, my salsa was delicious but the chicharrón taste rancid.... Very disgusting. Ended up in the trash. My sister has been to Paco's Tacos #2 several times and told me how good the tacos are so I couldn't resist going there recently. This place is huge a double storefront so I was very surprised that they didn't have any tables. If you have kids or older people that need to sit while eating this isn't the place for you unless you want your order to go. I guess the owners are looking for people to come in order and eat there sitting on a bar stool. It seems like the tacos are the big thing here and they don't disappoint. They have a very good system when ordering although it might be a bit of a challenge if you're not bi-lingual but we managed to get our order in no time and decided for take out. The tacos are very good with a good amount of filling with fresh ingredients. There are two things that stand out with their tacos one is they give you double tortillas and two they're the standard sized tortillas you'd expect to see in a grocery store not the puny ones like they serve at a lot of upscale restaurants. This morning I bought 1 pound of the small chicharron and I tasted it at the store and it was good, I wanted to use it to cook other dishes. Get home (few miles away) no plain taco and only one steak and other something else. Call them. Taquero gets defensive "that order was perfect!" I tried both Paco's and Zaca Tacos a block north. Here I had a asada torta with everything but tomato and a steak taco with onions and cilantro. The taco was great, and the tortilla was less greasy than the one at Zaca. However, the meat, while great, seemed just a tad less flavorful than the meat at Zaca's. Still a great taco, though. The torta was delicious. The bread was soft, the meat was great. The interior was spacious, although curiously a large portion of the space is not being used when I went there. There are counters for you to sit down. You can also purchase carnitas and fried pork skins here by the pound as well. Definitely give both Paco's and Zaca a try if you're in the neighborhood. I'm not sure if this location earns a 4.5 stars status. Lengua tacos were delicious; however the carne asada and pastor meat were a little too salty. Also, I wish they offer more condiments and salsas but all we found were 2 bottle is sauces. We had high hopes for better tacos as we were told by a few locals that Mexican food here should be very good asides from deep dish pizzas that everyone talks about.
