This used to be the best three headed monster in the city. However, every location is now inconsistent at best. This reminds me when they try to change their meats nearly 5 or six years ago, and due to customer dissatisfaction, they went back to their traditional recipe. The tacos are small, the tortillas are not cooked properly anymore. And the price is over five dollars with tax. What once was a great establishment is now a travesty.. Even though I only had one taco here (unfortunately), I'd put Paco's as among my top taco spots in Chicago! It's a casual taco joint with no table service that also sells tortas, burritos, and tostadas. I had one barbacoa taco, which it was excellent, fresh, and the meat was robust in flavor. I asked for limes they charged me but forgot to throw them in the bag so when I went back I asked for a green sauce since then gave me more red the lady asked for $.50 each. I'm not really sure why I haven't tried Paco's Tacos before. I've seriously been missing out on some bomb ass tacos. I went taco hopping at a few taquerias so I can try a few on my list, and made the mistake of coming here last since I was already kind of full and was struggling to finish the two tacos that I had ordered. They have bar style seating around the perimeter of the restaurant with no tables. Luckily, they have high chairs for kids, if you're into that type of thing. The counter to order is literally right in front of the restaurant as soon as you enter the restaurant. The make these tacos very fast so wether you're doing take out or dining in, you shouldn't have to wait a very long time. As for the tacos themselves...damn. Absolutely phenomenal. They both came packed with meat. I ordered one al pastor and one carne Asada. The al pastor came with chunks of pineapple and enhances the flavor of the fatty al pastor and it's marinade. It didn't appear they had a spit, so whenever a Taqueria doesn't use a spot, this is way to make them. Their asada was also very tasty and perfectly seasoned and cooked. We went inside restaurant it was busy and we noticed it didn't have tables to dine in. They had high top tables for a quick bite so we decided that was fine. "Paco's Tacos" have three (3) locations only, and all of them are in the south side of Chicago: inside the Supermercado la Internacional on S. Ashland (Back of the Yards), on S. Pulaski (West Lawn), and on S. Archer (Brighton Park). The Brighton Park location is less crowded than the one inside the grocery store. Paid street parking can be found along Archer near the restaurant as well. For less than $10, you can enjoy about three (3) meaty and flavorful tacos. Some Yelpers mentioned that you're given more meat if choosing to dine in. Well, perhaps that is the thing, but the turnover on seating is pretty quick. Patrons have no tendency to linger since there are no servers. The ordering process was efficient when hubby and I were there. We had carne asada, lengua (tongue), barbacoa tacos, a carne asada torta, and two (2) cups of horchata for approximately $18 and some change. They also checked the ID since a credit card was used. Carnitas and chicharrones are sold by pound ($6.79, as of 07/14/2018). They looked tempting and delicious. We went right around noon on Thursday, and it was pretty crowded, but the stove top was covered with foil, so it seemed all the meat was being reheated. We ordered steak tacos, and it was more of a shredded meat than a chop steak, so it seemed more like a barbacoa taco then a carne asada. The hours are wrong on here and need to be changed because they were open at 730pm when I walked in and do not close at 6pm. First I had four tacos and had a variety of them to include asada al pastor carnitas and barbacoa with a chile toreado on the side which was spicy. I also had the horchata. The ambiance was very nice, Los Tigre's del Norte playing on the radio and the cooks making tacos today's in front of you as you sit at a bar. The asada were on point and tasted soooo good. With cilantro onion and red and green salsa that you can have a whole bottle to yourself. I had to go to the outskirts of Chicago because I knew it would be good and it was well worth the trip, the carnitas were ok, they were not crispy like I expected but nontheless these were good. The tacos have a great foundation - tortillas are sturdy enough for any kind of ingredient, yet soft enough to bite through without having to pull. 2. The tacos have a superb and generous filling - whether it's the carne asada, or the chicharron (in green or red sauce - I prefer the red), or the carnitas, each filling is well seasoned and oh-so-tasty. Plus, you can make two tacos (or three sometimes) out of one. Yum! 3. The tacos have a great price (still) - Unlike Atotonilco, who keeps jacking up prices (and has even stopped posting the prices on their walls), even though Paco's has had to accommodate for current inflation, they've been more reasonable about it.
