We had two Cox reps come by on Nov 5 and it was one of the worst service experiences I've had. They claimed they were checking on "bad connections in the neighborhood" and could lower my bill for 60 months, plus throw in Brinks security at no extra cost. After getting my name and birthdate to "access my account," the rep suddenly said my credit wasn't high enough for the security system--despite me never giving permission for any credit check. He then pushed aggressively for a co-signer for nearly 10 minutes. The whole visit felt misleading, uncomfortable, and dishonest. We've been Cox customers for 20+ years, but after this experience, we'll be looking for other options. read more

A protracted issue that started in 2023 when we moved from NV to AZ. It reared its head again May 2024 with the possible result of Cox not honouring a previous 24months offer on residential internet. Cox Loyalty department were of no help and could not see our Customer record for the inception period. A trip to the store in Gilbert Alex & Rich worked tirelessly to investigate and found the trigger point. Resulting in less than 24hrs later with a 24 month offer that maintained our level of service without the projected increase that the Loyalty department kept referencing. This store staff has misled us for over a month. The Cox communications system between sales and installation and promotions is quite fractured. Porting over a land line has been a total disaster with multiple in home visits and criticisms by their own staff about the sales staff as well as previous installers. Our bill did not go down as promised but rather increased by $80. Our precious CenturyLink bill continued, the installation charges we were told would be waived never were and today we got a bill from previous Verizon Mobile carrier for $1455 to lay off old phones. We were told that would not happen. We definitely feel we were misled and treated like old people.....naive, stupid unsuspecting, easy to scam old people. read more

In 2022, Cox had a software error in which they continued to bill me for three months past the date I unsubscribed from their services. I called Cox, and they realized their mistake, so they removed my bill. I thought all was well, until one day in 2023, they sent a debt collection agency to collect the very amount they overcharged me, plus interest. After hours upon hours of waiting for customer service and calling, they took the bill away. Then in 2024, they switched the debt collection agency to a new company, and charged me the same amount again. This killed my credit score by 100+ points. I have no recourse. The craziest part? Cox wrote a letter explaining to me a string of false charges there were not even a part of the original discussion. TransUnion and Equifax thought that was sufficient "evidence." Thank goodness for Experian, which reviewed this and realized how foolish it is. It is now my life's mission to spread this word of caution. Cox will manufacture accounting errors and blame its customers, and use techniques like credit score dings, and waves of inspections into your credit history to hurt you. They want you to be a perpetual customer. It is a toxic relationship. I have already convinced 12 friends and family members to unsubscribe from Cox. I also stopped a family from stepping into the Cox store after I told them my true story. That's an annual decline of $1000+/year in revenue. Don't make the mistake I made by signing up for Cox. Save your time and money. Use T-mobil or Verizon 5G internet instead. read more

Cox is a horrible company and liars. I signed up with them one month ago as I wasn't getting a great connection with Century Link. Cox was more expensive but assured me it would be worth it. Well connection sucks even with WiFi extender and I live in the middle of Gilbert. Not out in the sticks. I also saw today that they charged me $100.00 for someone to come out to my house for five minutes to turn the power on to their company from the outside of my house. That was also never told to me that would happen. I called and spoke to two people today including a manager and was told too bad, the charge is valid. I will be dumping Cox today after I get another home internet company lined up. Disgusting company and horrible customer service. read more

Went to cox store at San tan about questions on my monthly billing. I was fortunate enough to have a young representative named Dylan. While other reps were selling various items Dylan was stuck with a grouchy old guy. He didn't rush me and explained the intricacies of computer language. Seems to be getting harder to understand everyday. Dylan explained in a way that even I could understand. I would go back to this location just to work with him. Shout of to BRANDON! I believe that was his name! he was tall and skinny! we went on Monday & we had just moved to Arizona the day before. Brandon made this a literally 5 minute process! We did not know how to set our internet up and asked if we saw this type of box in our apartment: we were clueless so he stayed with my wife while I drove back to the apartment and FaceTimed them, he helped me find the box within seconds over the FaceTime! Worst customer service experience I have ever had. I had been waiting to get my internet set up over 1 week as I was told a tech needed to come out as there had never been fiber at my home (new build). I had a confirmation email for a technician appt. The tech never showed up, I called to see what happened and was told someone would be out the next day and no one came another day in a row. I had even asked for who I could speak with in the event there was a problem and they gave me the same 800 # and said ask for George (who doesn't exist). I called again the second day and not only was I told there was no appt, I was also told no one put notes in about the call previous call. The second person who I spoke to was very cold and did not care/ acted like she didn't believe that we called at all prior. No I'm sorry even. Lastly, between the several different calls the different people spoken to have gone back and forth about whether or not I even need a technician. We are just going to try and install it ourselves at this point- the final person we discussed with swore it will work if we do, however we had 2 other people from Cox state it would not. We would not even use Cox, however, it is the only provider in our area so we are forced. read more

I have Fiber, which is supposed to be fast.... 209 mbps was the best speed test I got using my top tier Net-gear equipment. I refuse to do business this way. I called and they did offer an upgrade to get unlimited data at home for an additional fee which will total $150 a month. The worst customer service I have ever had. If you want to waste money and time, you can use them. We have been with them for years. Every time if there are internet issues, they either push us to switch plans, and that always come with some unexpected fee. Or sent the technician to check, and if their technician came in to fix their problems. They would freaking charge you. Seriously? I am paying you every month. Now you charge me for fixing your own problems? (their wires or hub in our neighborhood was damaged). Every single time, they charge you. This time we decided to cancel, and they push out 1 gig internet and offer some discounts, of course. Again, a lot of unexpected fee. We have made up our minds never go back to Cox. NEVER!!!NEVER!!! They told us this is not a contract plan, we can cancel anytime. That is why we give it a last try. Now they are saying we will be charged for a cancellation fee, because it's a contract plan. I had wifi issue at my house, went thru Cox Chat which wasn't helpful at all, I got a IT rep who did try their best to reset things but didn't work so they decided to schedule a tech. I recommended that the modem itself could be the issue so I bought it to the Cox store at San Tan Mall. Greeted immediately by ALEX RICO, who quickly processed the replacement and setup a new modem. Not only did he get me a better modem (faster, longer range) but also reduced my monthly bill. During Covid-19 I promised that I would not have to pay my bill for 60 days. In that time period my service was interrupted twice and I was forced to Pay and denied a refund. In addition, each time my service was suspended, I was working from home. I am done with COX! I went into the store to upgrade my account. They told me not to worry about paying my bill. COX I am currently paying $86 for 150mb of high speed internet service, which in reality has been more around 30-50mb if it's working, which working is a 20% success rate at that. I have called and chatted to customer service seeking a resolution to my slow and spotty Internet at least 4 times since February 15th and have been blown off getting a prewritten generic answer "Due to COVID the increase of people working from home has caused our services to not be reliable". Which I get it, COX was not prepared for the large amounts of people using the internet all at once but let me tell you what else they are not prepared to stop doing and that's taking your overpriced monthly payment... right? So I asked polity to all the representatives to please be credited for the months of spotty service and again I get the generic answer. "Our system will automatically refund you for any problems or outages I am unable to refund you" which let me assure you their system will refund you $5 if you're lucky and only take in consideration of 10% of the actual outages. Keep in mind I'm paying almost $100 a month for Internet that is not usable at all... due I get to say. "sorry I'm not paying this month because you did not supply our agreed product I purchased?" NO they will shut you off. Oh can I switch service providers? NO they own the contract for my neighborhood no other service providers are allowed to provide quality services in their area... As we speak I'm sitting on my couch on my cell phone writing this Because guess what there is no Internet again. So what does it take for me to get what I pay for?
