Excellent food, service and ambience. We had a delicious lunch on a crisp, clear and gorgeous October midweek day. Lyndsey, our server, provided excellent service and suggestions for local points of interest The corn bread skillet with home made honey butter is a must... as is the New England Clam chowder. The buffalo jumbo shrimp app did not disappoint. Lobster roll was perfect and ahi burger delicious .., and although we were stuffed, the banana crème pie was light and airy, but decadent at the same time. The views are stunning, a combo of serene and vibrant especially with the coolness of the fall season. Great drink and wine list.,, you won't be disappointed and you won't leave hungry! Looking forward to coming back. read more

Solid place and a lot of fun. Great views and set up. Nice live music on Fridays. Good cocktails. Food is only "good" not "great" which keeps it from five stars. The shrimp dishes are on better end of spectrum. We didn't like the chicken. read more

Second time here. Great service and great selection of cocktails and food. I love that you can choose between the lunch or brunch menu. Had such a lovely lunch at Cowfish. It's right on the water so sitting upstairs on the deck was so perfect. The service was great as well. I shared the blackened fish sandwich and a salmon BLT sandwich that was a special. They were both so delicious and fresh. What a tasty take on a BLT! The vibes and food were great so I would definitely go back again. read more

1- Noisy inside 2- Flies buzzing (not too many but enough to be noticeable. 3- food- sloppy presentation: Greek salad: slathered in a vey salty dressing, no whole olives, just canned , no variety Nola Shrimp: decent good sized shrimp In nice reduction. Rice was pasty and was dressed with corn. Why I dont know. Blackened Mahi: sub standard portion bearing grille marks and little or no pepper ( had to ask for the pepper mill - none on the table and none offered. Drinks: i had a Cosmo which I returned because it tasted as if it was from a different planet. Replaced with a margarita which was good, probably the best thing about this evening out. Staff: servers were cordial an efficient, no complaint. I' rate it 3 out of 5 read more

10/10 for views and ambiance . 8/10 for food and service. They have everyone wait on you which is nice because it's pretty quick and easy but then you get some nice servers and some not so nice. The ribeye special was super fatty and not seasoned at all. All the apps and cocktails were delicious. I would come back to sit at the bar outside . We had one drink there and it was so beautiful . read more

Always one of my favorite restaurants. Food is always top notch. A $48 lobster roll for lunch caught me off guard when there are no items on the menu even similarly close. We sat in the upstairs covered patio, not a good view while it's covered closed off for the weather but the vibe is relaxed. We started with the cornbread skillet. We would order this again, hands down. The Blazing Saddles drink was definitely spicy and delicious. The Mr. ordered the lobster roll, although it was a large amount of lobster, we were not impressed. I ordered the cow fish burger and it was cooked perfectly. The fries are really Good. read more

Went for lunch last Saturday. As usual, the food was exceptional. The service, however, left a lot to be desired. Had to ask 3x for water. Several parties that were seated after us were eating BEFORE we were able to order! Had to as GM Michelle to check on our food. We'd waited way to long for a Ceasar salad & Feta plate. In all the years going there....this was the worst service! read more

Can't beat the waterfront dining and drinks here. The Buffalo shrimp are amazing. I used have been here for my birthday dinner every year for the past 8 years and ordered the tuna entree. They recently changed it this year and unfortunately was disappointed by the size of tuna and sides accompanying it. Service can sometimes be slow at the bar but the rum punch is worth the wait! read more

We have eaten there at least 100 times through the years and it is consistently great. The fish, steaks, stuffed potato and puree feta are all treats. The view, perhaps the BEST in the Hamptons. i chose Cowfish for my birthday dinner, and in retrospect, regret my choice. i made a reservation for 2 through yelp a few weeks prior, for 7:30pm. we arrived a little bit before our reservation time and got in line behind a couple who were arguing with the hostess about the wait. I wrongly assumed that those people were walk-ins. we went ahead and checked in with the hostess, I requested a deck table if possible but she said politely that would probably not happen tonight, okay no problem, i said anything would be fine. we ended up being seated indoors past dark around 8:45pm, well over an hour past our reservation time. The people around us on the lawn were dealing with the exact same problems. I overheard one group say that they had been waiting for over two hours. at one point a manager came out and was trying to placate a hangry bachelorette party. It's nice that they have an outdoor bar (with great drinks) to keep us distracted for a while but we both found the situation to be pretty lame. I checked in at the 45 mark and while the hostess was apologetic I got the feeling that this is a regular occurrence. The food was hit or miss. the great: buffalo shrimp, spinach artichoke dip, and ribs. all fantastic, and the reason for the extra star. the bad: the sushi, we ordered the tumbleweed roll and it was so bland and mainly made up of rice. i honestly had to double check that they're was any spicy lobster in there. the hudson river trout. just tasted like boring salmon, we could not taste the pecan and there wasn't very much sauce to help it out. and the banana cream pie, we love banana cream pie and I feel like it's not that difficult of a dessert to make, but this one was really gelatinous and there was no strong banana flavor besides the random pieces of actual banana in it. Cowfish is really pretty and the location and vibe is great, but definitely don't come here for a special occasion or if you expect your reservation time to be honored. read more

Cowfish - View from upstairs bar and outdoor dining area - New American Near Me - Hampton Bays, New York

5 stars all the way. Let's start with the ambiance, which is why many people come here in the first place. Cowfish is set right upon the bay, with an outdoor area where you can hang at the outdoor bar and take in the surrounding water. Great way to start before being seated. The indoor restaurant is great as well, fashioned like an old school boat house, with an outdoor deck as well. Now, many places that focus on these vibes often fall short on the food. Especially when we're talking about the Hamptons, this happens all too often. But not here. The food was as good, if not better, than the ambiance. You could tell there was a team in the kitchen that was really taking pride in what they put out. We started with the spinach artichoke dip, hummus, cornbread and a couple sushi rolls. Honestly, all were amazing. One of the best spinach artichoke dips I've ever had. The cornbread was crack. The sushi rolls were fresh and delicious as well. From there, lots of touch choices for entrees. I went with the ribs which did not disappoint. They are cooked for 8 hours and they were as good as bbq ribs get in my opinion. Served with great slaw and fries. Top notch, fell off the bone. The rotisserie chicken and filet mignon were both excellent entrees too, had a bite of those as well. All in all, it was a fantastic evening. We ended up going back outside after dinner and played cornhole on the water. I would go back for the food in a heartbeat; the excellent vibes and ambiance made it that much better. Bravo!! read more

Cowfish - Salmon special - New American Near Me - Hampton Bays, New York

We had a very early Sunday dinner. Mike, our waiter, was knowledgeable and helpful in guiding us to the best Cowfish had to offer. My newly turned pescatarian from vegetarian fully enjoyed the sushi and the salmon over kale. I had the scallops over risotto and it was wonderful. My date had the NOLA shrimp and he loved it. The drinks were mighty fine too (Montauk brewed suds and some signature cocktails.) And make sure to leave room for the chocolate chip cookie served in a cast iron pan, "rare", with ice cream and caramel sauce. Good for 2nd visit, an early Saturday night, and our server was Carmen. Still 5 stars! We had the Maui Wowie roll and the Surf and Turf. Oh. YES!! Then we had the trout special, the Danish baby back ribs and some more risotto and scallops. Nothing disappointed us. For dessert we resorted to a tried and true favorite, the hot chocolate cookie in a pan and the hot fudge sundae (we're talkin real whipped cream!). Pure Heaven. Thank you Carmen and Robert! This is our Go-to place in Hampton Bays! read more

Sat on the upper roof deck for a late lunch and enjoyed the best view. Food was phenomenal, service was fast and very friendly, and prices were fair considering the area. Be forewarned - this is a lengthy review about my recent experience at Cowfish. I dined here with my cousin last night: Friday, November 27, 2020 during this crazy COVID Thanksgiving holiday era. My emotions were heightened after my first experience at Cowfish so I wanted to "sleep it on it" first before writing this review. As I approach my 8th year as an Elite Yelper, I wear my badge with pride. I am very cognizant how my reviews can either positively or negatively affect a business. I am a former business owner, I have my own consulting business and my current professional role involves working directly to support the success of business owners + operators. That being said, I am frequenting businesses more now than ever to show my support during this COVID era. I had never been to The Hamptons (yes, bucket list!) so I looked to Yelp to find a place to eat. Cowfish popped up at the top of my search and noticed their 4-star rating. I secured reservations via Yelp. A credit card is required. We drove over 1.5 hours to get to Cowfish. We were so excited to experience Cowfish. With a high rating + reviews on Yelp and beautiful waterfront views located in the exclusive Hamptons, who wouldn't be? Upon arrival, the hostess (Chelsea) had her back turned towards us as she was on the phone taking an order. Totally get it but she should have at least been facing towards the front door - not with her back facing us! We were patient, but after about 5 minutes, you'd think she would at least acknowledge us. Nope. Finally she hung up, looked at us. No smile, no greeting. I was like, "Hi, we have 5:45 pm reservations that I booked via Yelp." She used the iPad to locate our name, but still didn't confirm, so.... Me: Did you find us? Chelsea: *unconvincingly* "Yeah." Me: Uhh Okay, if it's possible, can we be seated outside? Chelsea: No sorry, we aren't doing outdoor seating and it's cold outside. Me: Any chance we can sit by a window or some area where there is ventilation? (*This was my cousins first time out to a restaurant during COVID) We were seated at the table closest to the entrance. I probably wouldn't have made a big deal, but what happened next was totally out of line and unacceptable. A few minutes after we were seated, my cousin said that a Caucasian family walked in and asked to sit outside. The hostess Chelsea pleasantly (with a smile) replied without hesitation, "Sure, no problem, we'll get that set up for you." Are you f*cking serious? My cousin and I are Asian. I am proud to be Korean-American. But at that moment, I felt racially discriminated and unfairly treated. I asked our waitress if they were seating outside. She replied, "Oh, I'm not sure. I can find out." Right then, I noticed the manager (Derick) standing there so I politely (and calmly) directed my concern towards him. He said, "We can move you." Ok so we moved upstairs to the patio area. On our way up the stairs, I took the initiative to thank Derrick and that I wasn't trying to be difficult. However, I felt like his response was neutral and he didn't seem to really know how to be empathetic or how to adequately de-escalate (is that a word LOL?) from a hospitality stand point. I felt like we were burdening his staff rather than offering us the same opportunity to dine outside like the party who arrived after us. We ordered the nachos appetizer, Buffalo shrimp appetizer, crab cake entree special and topped off the evening with chocolate chip iron skillet cookie. The food is so-so. Nothing special. The views and ambiance are what really make this place. The reason for even giving this place 2-stars is (because I would probably give 0 stars): 1) Our waitress Sarah who took over once we were seated upstairs was awesome - she is a 5 year veteran of the restaurant. She took time to make recommendations on local hotspots like Coopers Beach. She suggested that we come back to Cowfish during peak season to experience their large outdoor bar and patio area that overlook the peaceful canal to visit, sit back, and relax and enjoyed live entertainment + music. We tipped Sarah 25% for her outstanding, friendly, attentive and professional service. 2) Manager Derrick ended up taking the iron cookie skillet off the bill. A nice gesture. But honestly, I would have just appreciated more empathy on his part. You can have sh!tty food, but for me, excellent service, empathy + kindness will trump the sh!tty food every time. I truly hope this review will spark some training + development in customer service. Trust me, while it might sound like something that can be done easily, this is an area that any business can greatly benefit from training and development. Great customer service = happy customers = referrals = revenue and profits. If you're still reading this, thank you for taking the time to read about my experience. For what it's worth, I truly hope you never have the kind of experience my cousin and I had. read more

Saturday brunch in the Hamptons? Yes, please! Is it Saturday brunch if you don't get a Bloody Mary? Yes but also this place makes a really good Bloody Mary, so make the right choice. Started with the half portion salads, the wedge and north fork. The salads tasted as fresh as they look in the photo! Definitely try their clam chowder! Lobster roll market price was $40 this past weekend, but I would say they definitely give you your money's worth. However, the fries were not my favorite :( too hard and crunchy for my liking. But overall, cute spot, great views, good food and drinks! Plus free valet :) read more

A beautiful and cute restaurant located by the water. Beautiful outdoor dining and the indoor dining is just as cute. My husband and I came for lunch. We didn't make reservations but they were able to seat us without any wait. I ordered their Nashville Hot chicken and my husband had the beef hash. Both were flavorful and delicious! The chicken was moist, and all the right spices I craved was in each bite. The Beef Hash was great as well. The potatoes and beef mixed well. Whatever they're doing in the kitchen; they're doing it right. The servers are all friendly and kind and when you check in on Yelp, you get 5% off. The reason why I gave it 3 stars is towards the end, the table behind us was being cleared. Somehow, they spilled ketchup on my husband's jacket. Luckily, it was something we can just throw in the wash. But god forbid- if ketchup fell on an expensive jacket or even my bag, I'm not sure how they would have handled the situation. They did offer to pay for dry cleaning but we don't live near by and it didn't make sense for us to drive out 1.5 hours again. read more

The spinach artichoke dip was SO good and cheesy and you can never go wrong with cheesy. The Buffalo shrimp was so fresh and savory. My favorite and the one I didn't expect to like so much was the mahi mahi sandwich because I'm still just getting into eating other fish besides salmon. It was incredible. My husband and I were looking for a restaurant for lunch in Valentine's Day. We had never been here before and d it was a bit hard to find. The search was worth it, though! The dining room was open and bright with windows facing the Shinnecock Canal. We were seated by a very pleasant young lady. We ordered drinks and looked over the menu. It took quite a while for my Bourbon Manhattan to arrive and our lunch order to be taken. We both ordered Clam Chowder and the wait was worth it! It was, hands down, the best New England chowder we've ever had. Lots of clams and small chunks of potato in a creamy flavorful Soup. I ordered the Gibbs hamburger and that, too, was delicious although a bit more done than medium. My husband ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad which he also said was delicious. Great ambiance and delicious food at Cowfish. We were seated on the outdoor deck on the top floor with a great view of the marina. In terms of food, we ordered the shrimp, Brussels sprouts and chowder as starters. Everything came out extremely quickly and tasted great. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and clam chowder. For entrees, most of our group ordered the delicious mussels, which came on top of a mouthwatering risotto. I personally ordered the New York strip, which came with a large stuffed baked potato. Finally, we took two of the skillet dessert cookies to go. We really enjoyed dessert as well. In terms of drinks, I would warn anyone about ordering the spicy jalapeño tequila drink, as it is extremely spicy, even for spice lovers. On a side note, I do believe the restaurant needs to improve their signage as finding the parking location is not very straightforward. read more
