First, I'm grateful to Cowboy Chicken for offering a Thanksgiving plate special this past Thanksgiving when I had COVID and was unable to spend the holiday with family - I was able to salvage the day with an enjoyable meal, albeit alone. I've been back multiple times since to order their three-piece dark rotisserie chicken plate, and enjoy this place more each time I go there. I have a long history as a Boston Market customer (and even worked there in college when it was Boston Chicken), and although poor business practice has mostly phased it out of the fast casual scene, I still look to Boston Market as a comfort food standard. If you're familiar with Boston Market and are looking for that kind of homestyle meal, Cowboy Chicken's wood fire rotisserie chicken is right there. You can order a dark or white entree with sides or family meals with a whole chicken. Cowboy Chicken also offers wings, salads, and sandwiches. I go there for the rotisserie chicken, but if that isn't your thing, there's a lot to choose from. To me, a good chicken place also needs to be able to offer quality sides and Cowboy Chicken has a plethora of them: Mashed potatoes, rachero beans, green beans and a lot more. I'm still exploring Cowboy Chicken's vast menu so I haven't quite found a side I love as much as the Twice Baked Potaters, but I'm confident I'll get there. For $7 more, you can also have a side of brisket. Honestly, it didn't speak to me the first time I ordered it. I tried again on my more recent trip, and it was great. Not sure that it's $7 great, but I was hungry and in the mood for meat so I'm glad I got it and will order it again. Fast casual places usually leave a lot to be desired when it comes to customer service, but I'm always impressed by the friendliness of the Cowboy Chicken staff. When comfort food is what you need, giddy up!

I usually like Cowboy Chicken but this Irving location is lousy. The staff are zombies, and the checkout person was a robot. Not a real robot but you get the drift. Didn't ask if we wanted drinks etc. To top it off the coleslaw , something I love from there, was frozen n ruined. The roll was stale as well. Didn't help the whole place was dirty and un kept. Altogether a one star experience.

I love this place for the rotisserie chicken. Their double baked potato is delicious too. It always disappears when get take out. Their beans and rice have a lot of flavor too. This is a fast casual restaurant. The orders come out prompt and there is plenty of seating. The service was good for a fast casual restaurant. We will definitely be coming back.

After hearing a wonderful word at church the ladies decided on Cowboy Chicken . I was was surprised and impressed by the smoky smell of the chicken and seeing about 20 birds going over the rotisserie fire in the back. The staff was friendly and brought out our fresh food to the table.

Stopped by for a quick lunch and decided to try the Nashville Hot chicken tenders. Nashville was not hot; not in spice, and not in temperature. Flavor was mild, and the tenders were a little dry, like they took a wrong turn at juicy and just kept giddying. The place itself is clean and friendly, and the menu's got plenty of options if rotisserie's your thing. Service was fast, and I'll give them credit, this is a solid upgrade over your average fast casual chain. But for $13 tenders, I was expecting a little more kick and a little less cardboard. Might come back to try the rotisserie chicken everyone's hyped about, but the tenders didn't quite do it for me. Yeehaw.. I guess.

There are many chicken places out there, but how many of them serve rotisserie chicken instead of fried one? Probably not too much! And how doesn't LOVE rotisserie chicken? Anyway, had to try it while in TX and boy do I wish they'd come to Colorado! I had BBQ Chicken Sandwich with pulled meat, and a buddy of mine had a three piece dark plate. We both agreed that more places like this should exist, and people that live within 10 min driving distance a super lucky. And of course, loved the whole atmosphere there - kind of feels like a Texas BBQ place, but it's all about chicken. Highly recommend and I'll be back once I'm nearby.

Great service, good food, and plenty of seats! I was hoping to get some chard bbq flavor from the chicken in my salad, but I wasn't getting that. Nonetheless, the salad was good. The ambiance is nice and with moderate noise, depending on how busy it gets.

Typical TX fast food chain. Service was quick. It had a casual vibe, and the food is made fresh.

A fresh rotisserie chicken place. I was in a rush so I just ordered a chicken sandwich. It was fresh chicken breast carved off the chicken, not out of the freezer. It wasn't dry by any means but could've used a bit more salt. It came with fried chicken skin fried hard which tasted a bit like pork rinds. Personally I could've done with that tidbit however I'm inclined to go back as the menu looked pretty good. They do have a picture window to see the chickens on a spit roasting over the open fire which I failed to get a picture of as I was in a rush.

Chicken is bland. Quality is not what it used to be. Tastes like rotisserie chicken with no seasoning. Very underwhelmed.

My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Tupelo Honey is a stand-alone restaurant conveniently located near Hwy 114 and 161. There's plenty of parking, outdoor seating, and a mixture of tables, booths, and bar seating. Speaking of the bar, it acts as a beautiful backdrop for the entire restaurant. 1 Star. Service - The service is always friendly. Our server is always smiling, and I can't help but feel welcome with southern charm. Tupelo Honey trains its staff well, and I really enjoy coming here and interacting with the staff. 1 Star. Food - I always begin with the Biscuits with a Cause. These light, flakey biscuits are served warm with a crispy exterior and soft, flakey inside. But honestly, the biscuits act as a delivery mechanism for the butter and blue berry jam. I always ask for an extra side of butter and jam because I use it all. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Honey Dusted Fried Chicken (dark). The chicken was perfectly fried, crispy, and sweet. And the dark meat was juicy. Pro Tips - use your hands. Another great dish was experienced. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I have yet to have a below average dish at Tupelo Honey. Yes, it's a chain. But it's also a darn good chain that keeps its menu fresh and is worth multiple visits. 1 Star.

I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

For sides, I chose the mac and cheese, cornbread, tallow fries, and Brussels sprouts. This is the kind of meal you remember for a while. The Wagyu tomahawk ribeye was the star of the table. Tender, flavorful, and packed with that rich beefy taste you'd expect from a steak of that caliber. The garlic stuffed filet was incredibly tender and added another layer of flavor, while the New York strip had a great texture and a perfect mesquite grilled finish. The Gulf shrimp were cooked well and added a nice contrast to all the steak. Smoky, juicy, and full of flavor. The sides were excellent across the board. The mac and cheese was creamy and rich, the cornbread was warm and comforting, the tallow fries were crispy and addictive, and the Brussels sprouts provided a nice balance to the feast. The restaurant itself has a true Texas atmosphere with a rustic upscale feel. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel special. This wasn't just dinner. Not a true "Japanese wagyu" texture, but still an excellent steak overall. - Sides (mashed potatoes, fries, broccolini, cornbread): All pretty good across the board. I liked the cornbread the most and wished there was more of it. Usually a side of cornbread is much more substantial and comes with honey butter. - Steak sauce: we ask for a side of this.
