My 3rd review here. I hardly ever review a place twice, let alone a 3rd time. I really wanted to say that whoever the dude working the counter this evening 8/28/25 was super nice and friendly, and the food today was honestly delicious. I tried the cauliflower "not chicken" for the first time and it was somehow better than the chicken. The consistency was perfect and worked with the dry rub of spices really well. Everytime I've come here I've left impressed. The combo price should include a drink though, that's my only complaint. read more

Oy, in Texas there is any fast food chain restaurant you could want to try. In the city by the bay, not so much. I have been hearing about this chain on my food blogs and people go nuts for it, so we had to try it. The service was great, the place was clean, all the good stuff, but I just personally did not love the chicken preparation. We ordered the meal with the sandwich and the finger. It is the dry spice that is added after the cooking that I didn't love. This is not a fault of this restaurant, I get that this is the way hot chicken is prepared-- but for my tastebuds -- since the added spice isn't cooked with the chicken, it tasted like uncooked spices to me. Initially thought they were overpriced, until I saw their portion size! Very pleasantly surprised! Super fast service, hot/fresh chicken. The chicken itself was very moist. I'm not certain how to describe the breading, other than it was minimal and very good (it was kind of like a ). Their tenders are at least twice the size of everybody else's. This was my first time at a Dave's Hot Chicken location and my experience was nothing short of fantastic. Excellent customer service from the GM Rodney who went above and beyond and let me try a sample of chicken before deciding which heat level I could take. This location was very clean and it was full during the lunch rush but no long lines just fast service. The food was delicious and even though I got it to go was still nice and hot. I'll be back and recommend this location to all my friends! read more

First time having Dave's Hot Chicken. There is one opening in Hurst but we couldn't wait and made the drive to Irving. The service was good, less than 10 minute wait in the drive through. The order consisted of a #1 lite mild, #2 hot, & #3 mild and a regular pink lemonade for the drive home. All of this was $45. The portions are huge. I would have been fully satisfied with the #4 slider and fries, but we went all out. My order was the #3 mile. The slider was so good. The slaw and pickles really set the slider off. My only complaint is that I wish my chicken was crispier! Maybe dining in is a better option for that. The fries and seasoning was really good. Nice and crispy outside and soft on the inside. Imma hand it to the manager there, i ordered lunch for my dealership staff members say somewhat for 40 people and boy the staff members were phenomenal, they made each order correctly for some of my picky eaters, all the sauces and the boxes were perfectly packaged, the team members in the back put some love in the sandwiches, gotta give all the staff members a full 10/10 for everything, I apologize in advance for not placing they're names here as I don't recall but everyone there had amazing customer service great attitude and an energy like non other Daves hot chicken I've experienced. The food was pricey but was it worth it...YES! We traveled about 35 minutes to try Dave's in Irving and I must say it was pretty good! We took it to go and it tasted amazing for having traveled 35 minutes with it! It's wasn't soggy, it was packaged very well and the heat level was right on the spot! If it tasted that good at home, I can only imagine how much better it would have tasted if we dined in. We had tenders, sliders, slaw, mac and fries and tried several different heat levels...they did not disappoint! I would say the service was amazing given the fact that they packaged our food SO well that it maintained its freshness on our long drive! read more

Popped into the drive through to give this flashy looking place a try and what a great decision!! Simple menu, great customer service with assistance taking the order through receiving it. I ordered the 2 sliders with a coke and a chocolate shake (for a personal celebration). It was tough being inside the car while driving back as I wanted to pull over and eat it immediately! It really smelled delightful! The mild spice level is the perfect heat level for those of us with sensitive mouths. WOW, the flavors are the star of this meal! Add to them, the crunch of slaw, freshness of the buns, crisp dill pickle slices, and crinkle cut thin fries all boost really good food over the top. The chocolate shake could have used a bit more chocolate flavor, but it was creamy, not too sweet and perfect size. The Coke had the perfect amount of ice, enough to chill the drink AND have room for the drink. The meal was well packaged, an orderly delicious appearance, sufficient quality napkins (none of those super thin worthless brown ones), flatware and their own brand ketchup. We have been wanting to try this new fried chicken franchise. It is a little more upscale than your average fried chicken restaurant. It is also a little more pricey. We ordered the Tenders and Chicken Slider Meals. We did not get the most spicy but we will get one level below the spiciest level next time. Overall, the quality was good and the chicken was made to order. We also had the Mac and Cheese and Coleslaw. Both were pretty good. The service was good but on par with Chic Fil A or Canes. Tried Dave's hot chicken for the first time and it did not disappoint. The chicken itself was fried to perfection. Crispy exterior, juicy interior. I got the medium seasoning. It wasn't spicy at all so next time I'll get hot. I wanted ranch but sadly they don't have ranch. Thats the only downside for me. Their Daves sauce wasn't nasty but it's not for me. One of my coworkers told me to put honey on the chicken so I did and it was delicious! The fries were also perfect and seasoned really well. Even the pickles were good but I'm a pickle lover! I've seen the ridiculously long lines here, so one day when there was no line, I gave it a try. The food is good. The drive-thru was quick. This is LA's take on Nashville Hot Chicken...fried chicken that's dunked in hot, spicy oil, then sprinkled with more hot spices and served up fresh. Except on this visit -- on a Monday at noon -- the chicken tenders served were not cooked to order but, instead, seemed plucked from under a heat lamp. The tenders were not as fresh, as say, Raising Cane's. The heat levels here are hotter than most spicy chicken places. Anything above mild/medium and you won't be able to taste the chicken. To offset the heat, Dave's loads up the sprinkled spices with sugar. I like the heat, but the sugar was too much for me. As was the decor. The walls are spray painted with graffiti--by design -- a nod to the restaurant's origins on the streets of LA. It kinda feels like you're dining in a subway station. Very disappointed with my experience at this location. I placed an online order for the 2 tender combo -HOT with a strawberry lemonade slushie. I tried this place for the first time today. I had the tender meal. The chicken was really good. I got the hot and extra hot. Both did not disappoint. The only thing that caused me to give it a 4 is the price. It seems a little high for just 2 tenders. Most places offer meals with at least 3 tenders. Although the food was very good, I don't feel that the value is there for the price I paid. I definitely will come back, but with more money. I was super excited to try this place as it has good reviews. I got the slider and one tender (Dave's #3). Here is what I have to say about it. The actual piece of chicken is very juicy, crispy, and big. So the quality of the chicken is top notch. The spice level I picked was extra hot. The sauce itself had a decent kick but it was not EXTRA hot. Also, the sauce is just ok. It didn't have much flavor to it. It was almost like an oily hot sauce with no seasoning. The Cole slaw it comes with also needed seasoning very bland. It comes with crinkle cut fries which were seasoned with (old bay) I believe? Anyway, the fries were cooked crispy and were good. They also throw in some delicious pickles (honestly delicious pickles), and Dave's sauce which is their take on Raising Canes sauce. Dave's sauce needs flavor. It's very mayo like and it just need acidity and a little more flavor. Overall, I gave it a 3.5 however I will go back and try different flavors. What this place is needs is different sauces to dip the delicious tenders with. There is a restaurant hot chicks that has amazing sauces but laity of chicken sucks. This is the opposite. Came in for the first time since my teenager kept seeing this place on YouTube. It's different from other chicken fast food chains with the different spice levels. They appear to all be dry spices. It is on the pricy side; over $60 for the me, husband, teenager and 1 year old (btw.. they don't have kids meals). I got the #1; it was hot but overcooked. And I bit directly into a tendon. So seems like they use fresh chicken, but please remove that. My husband didn't like it. My 1 year old didn't either, but my teenager raved. I think this meal was about $15 which I feel is kind of expensive but it wasn't bad, it was good I would eat here again if someone else was paying. So the cheese fries were a 10/10, thought they wouldn't be so good after my husband picked up and made the long trek home but they were actually delicious! I like the cheese sauce and the seasoning on the fries. I got one slider, the chicken piece was huge, and overall it was good. I would say if you like spicy food like me then you should not order the medium spice level or anything under it. I really felt it wasn't hot at all or even to a mild flavoring...it was lacking in the spice and flavor aspect overall but the sauce and pickles made the sandwich decent! maybe that's because they try to make the spice levels for everyone so I think that makes sense?? The only thing I didn't like was the mac n cheese. It was definitely lacking something, but I would give this place another shot getting the cheese fries again definitely and maybe upping the spiciness level. The food was great, not too hot that it overpowered the chicken or the sauce. If he's the manager, he knows how to run a store. He was knowledgeable about the intricacies of the chicken and spices and constantly checked up on customers. You can't ask for anything more. The chicken tasted fresh and high quality. I had the #3 which was a slider, tender w/fries. Fries were mid but had nice flavor(I guess I'd prefer them more crisper. Slider and tender were perfection! I loved the slaw attribute to the slider as it complimented the heat of the Extra Hot tender The Reaper Tender was amazing! Not overpowering but enough to give me the sniffles and some cheek sweat. Really yummy! Chicken was perfectly fried, juicy and crispy. The Hot spice level was definitely fiery, the Medium was just perfect. Would highly recommend subbing out your fries for mac-and-cheese, the mac had a nice kick to it and was creamy and delicious. Expected tips BEFORE you get your food are odd at any restaurant let alone a fast food joint--there are no waiters at Dave's, no one delivers your food and you throw your own trash away (i.e. fast food). If McDonald's turned around a screen suggesting tip levels, I doubt they'd have as many customers as they do. "You don't have to leave a tip" is not the right answer since I'm not putting $0.00 in right before those individuals are about to prepare my food. The right answer is don't shame your fast food customer into leaving one; at the high prices you charge just pay your cashiers and prep folks a decent wage. You (also) had a tip jar; that should be more than enough to more subtlety get your point across. As far as the food. It was fine. I don't have a lot of "hot chicken" to compare it to, but I was not unhappy with it. The spicy coating might have been able to be a bit better tasting and "medium" certainly had a kick.
