Cleanliness is nonexistent, they reused the same dish and water to soak my nails in with the girl next to me. The nail lady cut my mom's cuticle where she was dripping blood then instead of letting it clot stuck her bleeding finger in the dip polish container! She put two coats on, (no top coat) and put the side table up on the pedi chair and handed me my purse. WTH! Two of us got a luxury pedicure. We scheduled an appointment and when we arrived we were rushed. My friend had hers started and I sat and waited and waited until my friends pedicure was almost done and mine then was started. He rushed through mine and painted my toe nails. My friend and I went to go get our nails done and waited about 5 minutes before we were helped. My nails took about 45 minutes to do and we're perfect. The guy helping me was very talented and precise. But my friends girl started her nails and then made her move for a different women to get her nails done. She waited about 35 minutes before the woman started helping her again. She wanted the same french tip acrylics as me but the lady lopped the white nail polish on and tried to remove it with acetone. It looked terrible. So after my friend and I were there for 1.5 hours my friend asked them to redo them. My friend and I go here pretty frequently and haven't had an experience like this before so I hope it's a one time thing. The vibe overall was nice and mostly clean. Except the guy helping me repeatedly wiped his face and itched his eyes. He wasn't wearing gloves or glasses so the nail dust was going into his eyes. Yesterday I had a deluxe pedicure, which cost $55 plus tax and tip. The nail technician that helped me was watching a video on her phone the whole time. The stones and hotel towels were so hot they burned my skin. She did a poor job with the nails that I had to return the next day. When I returned it took over an hour for someone to help me. The owner kept telling me to talk to the nail technician VS helping me himself. Horrible customer service. I had to pay an extra $12 to get my nail polished redone. Probably fine for basic cosmetic purposes. If you are looking to take care of even the tiniest amount of ingrown skin (let alone nail), this is NOT the place for you. This is a silly long review, so that's probably all you need to know. I feel badly leaving not-so-positive reviews, so for those who need context, read on. I called in advance stating that I needed to address a bit of ingrown skin and was told that they could help. I mentioned it again when I walked in the door. The technician up-sold me on the pedicure level, then did the least amount of basic trimming possible. When I mentioned for the third time that I needed ingrown skin trimmed and pointed out the area, I was told that they are specifically forbidden from addressing any kind of ingrown anything. Fine, but why wasn't this conveyed to me the first two times I asked? I finished the treatment, which was three times the price of my usual salon (which does an incredible job of not only addressing my admittedly special needs, as well as a far superior massage even with the basic pedi service -- which I also specifically requested in agreeing to the up-sell), hoping there was more to come later in the pedi. There wasn't. I am on a serious budget, but because I need this service to keep me away from the podiatrist, I tip my usual technician $25 on top of the salon cost for the extra attention. Of course, it's totally fine if this particular salon does not provide certain services. I don't expect every salon to be able to help. I only strayed from my usual salon because I had to embark on last-minute travel several states away. The staff here seem nice. But the fact that I called before coming in about my particular needs, then mentioned them again two more times and was denied after being directly told they could help, hits me like a bait and switch. read more

I was in a bind and had no available time the night before a work trip so I ran into Cover Nails on Monday afternoon for a mani/pedi. I had heard not so good things about this place previously and therefore drove to Maxx Nails by CVS but they were booked solid. So I drove to ENails by Walmart and they were also booked. I then called Cover Nails and asked if they had availability and asked if they were busy. They said no and to come right over. I drove right over there and walked in. Every seat was full and and they had people waiting. Now I'm not naive to believe that within the 7-8 minutes it took me to drive over there additional people didn't show up, but where these people were in the process of their services would lead a person to believe they had been there for a while. So strike 1. I asked if they do Gel and was told that they do but to select a color from the wall and they would match it up to their gel colors. My 6 year old and I were both perplexed by this but willing to see where it went. They seat her in a chair to start her manicure and I in a chair to get a pedicure. Things went south from there! The woman who put the water in the tub had it scorching hot and I asked her to turn it down. There seemed to be a language barrier and I was not able to get cooler water put in. I had to wait for it to cool down some and then just suffered through it. My fault for not being more forceful. Then the worst part. The woman started rubbing my legs with sea salt and I started having a reaction to it. I started turning red and itching like CRAZY! I asked her to stop and get me a towel and that we needed to get it off of me right away. She didn't understand so I had to grab the towel from the rolling table and start wiping my legs down hard! Once she understood she started to help me but turned on the scalding water and burned my legs! Once that fire was put out she got a clay mask and started rubbing them all over my legs... I am allergic to peppermint! And the main ingredient is peppermint! My fault! I'm now starting to panic and telling her we have to get this off my legs RIGHT NOW! Nothing. She keeps rubbing it in! I started making a scene to the point it was drawing the attention of other patrons and I am wiping feverishly as my flesh feels like it is burning! I know it sounds dramatic but I've been in the hospital for peppermint reactions and I did not want to have one in front of my 6 year old. Long story short I got it off using the water in the tub and I asked her to drain the tub multiple times! MULTIPLE! She didn't. And then she used the water 2 times to dip the hot stones in and "reinfected" me with the dirty peppermint water!! I got outta there as quick as I could but not before I stepped onto their very dirty floor covered in hair. I would NOT recommend this nail salon as there are many more clean facilities out there that take care of their clients! I've been in MN for going on 5 weeks, and I held out on getting my nails done as long as possible. I finally got on Instagram and started searching for a nail place because they were BAD. I found cover nails and after scrolling through most of their pictures I was satisfied. (I'm super nail particular)! So I call up see how much a powder fill is and they tell me $35. Cool. I ask are they busy? The man on the phone says you can come now! I drive 30 mins from Eagan, and I'm sat immediately. The sweetest man asks what color I'd like and what service I need. I asked him to cut my cuticles - he does no problem. Fast forward, the color I liked they didn't have but he was able to find me something extremely similar! He took his time with laying the acrylic. He shaped my nails well. When he asked me questions, I followed with thank you and he said you're welcome no problem. After finishing, I was happy to have driven the distance because the nails were good but the service was excellent. If you're anything like me you'll sacrifice drive time for quality service ALWAYS. After I finished my total for the service was $40. I didn't have any cash on me so I walked to Wells Fargo to get him a tip. Overall, my nail salon experience was great! Far better than I expected. The other employees appeared to be very accommodating of the other customers from what I could see and hear. The salon wasn't overly busy and no one waited for a very long time. If I was in town longer, I'd most definitely go back. read more

My nail got infected because they do not clean the tools. I know for a fact I got it from a contaminated cuticle trimmer and my doctor confirmed that it is indeed an infection. I got a small cut (not uncommon) and the technician put gel on to stop the bleeding. This caused an open wound, but if the utensils were clean I may not have this issue. Went in for a fill and reshape, walked out hating my nails. The language barrier was significant, and although friendly, he didn't shape my nails like the pinky I had shaped prior to going in (that I said was the template). I also was nicked twice by the nail drill, same finger, no apology no care. I was tired of trying to explain what I needed in a shape, after the square, then round, then oval aggressive filing I had already endured. I requested a modified coffin shape with top edges smoothed and not left straight across. After all of this, and being there over 1.5 hours I was rang up at $65! Horrible experience! Over charged by $20.00. I request the same services each time and the charges for services have increased with each visit. This final visit I was cut twice and burned with the wax and water, no apology was given for the injuries. Another customer also was having a terrible experience, explaining they did not provide the services she requested after they had said yes they could accommodate. I over heard a request for warmer water for the pedicure treatment and the staff was rude and disrespectful. The customer also explained, she was cut multiple times during manicure treatment. First off, I have been coming here for over ten years! I'm a more than a regular you can say! Richard and Michelle own Cover Nails and have for almost as long as I have been coming here. Richard and Michelle have been doing my acrylic nails. When I started coming here, I bit my nails so bad they bled. Richard has done my nails without judgement and was actually encouraging me to keep getting the nails so that one day I would have beautiful nails and long nail beds. During the past, I have tried other nail salons but no one could get my nails to stay on. It was just a waste. I kept coming to Richard even tho I would come in for repairs almost daily. I hung in with the process and so has he! My nails now are completely different; they are long and beautiful. I rarely have one that comes off anymore and can go 3-4 weeks in between fills! Nancy and Michelle both wax my eyebrows. They are excellent and make the process go fast and smoothly. Nancy and Bill do my pedicures. Bill is the BEST! I'm so happy he is back. He is just brilliant in every way! him! I highly recommend coming to Cover Nails! I wouldn't trust anyone else in town to do my nails. Richard and Michelle own all but one salon in Shakopee! I went here 2 wks ago & had great service & walked out with gorgeous nails. So I called this morning and spoke to Richard for a 3pm appointment with Chee for a gel manicure. He said try to get here earlier if possible. I got there at 2:45. Chee was working on 2 pedicures and was done around 3:10pm. No big deal, however another girl took me before then when she knew I was waiting on Chee because they discussed it infront of me. I don't do fake nails. My nails are healthy. If I do it's because I always seem to break the ocassional one before appts. Now my nails were clear of polish accept for 3 nails. She used the Dremel tool to remove the polish on my thumb and took half the nail with it making it uneven! It literally dips down in the middle now. She seemed to rush the job and only after I left, did I notice part of my real nail on one side of middle figure is completely indented & missing polish. She was doing the floral artwork which looked nothing like Chee's awesome work, which she even had a picture of from previous visit. Chee got done with her pedicures in time to do the artwork. Why wasn't the current girl pulled and replaced with the one I originally had the appt with??? Would have been nice. They look interesting. One or 2 look nice but the rest are a little sloppy. Bottom line is this: When I call well in advance, even asked for a specific person which I was told was working, that is running a few minutes behind- I want that person. read more

WORST nail experience I'd ever had. I went in with a picture of a design and said "if you can't do this, it's ok, we can do something else." They ASSURED me they could do it, so we went forward. They not only used all the wrong colors (neon instead of the pastel I requested), but completely botched the design leaving holes where you could see my bare nails, drops of different colors in random areas, as well as my fingers covered in polish residue. When I asked the woman to please fix them and fill in the holes, she rudely scoffed and did them aggressively. I left the salon in tears. I truly would not recommend this place to ANYONE. I know we're all humans and nails can't be perfect, but my issue is telling me you can do a design when you a) can't b) don't use the right colors and c) get upset when I politely ask you to fix them. Cover Nails is my go-to place for my nails. Richard and Michelle are amazing at what they do. But an incident happend to a friend of mine today where she was over charged just for a color change. I do not recommend the lady with short hair and glasses (i think her name is Nancy). She rips people off! Well my friend went in for a color change for gel polish, and a younger gal told her that it would be $37 with design on it. My friend also had her brows waxed, the total should have been $45. But the lady charged her $55. She tipped herself $10 for a poor job she did painting my friend's nails. Of course that made me mad...the owners didn't do a single thing about it. They ignored it and let it happen. It's a great place for nails but DO NOT let that lady your manicure or pedicure or even wax. She does a horse crap job! I was just there on Friday, July 3rd. The place was really dirty, I was afraid to sit on the furniture. The guy who did my manicure/pedicure was really nice and did a good job on my heels but the painting of my nails is a mess and is already falling off. He really didn't much of a manicure, he just barely shaped the nails (not even, I had to fix them myself so they looked straight) and painted the nails (some of the nails aren't covered to the edge) and again the polish is falling off. Worst customer service. First off, the pricing is not what they charge. Paid $34 for full acrylic set for daughter (under 18), no powder, just regular acrylic with color polish. The website and sign both say $20. When trying to question any pricing, they blew me off and said it was more because my daughter wanted 3 colors on different nails! I use to go here from age 17-23 and finally had to stop. I'm now 26. I loved Michelle for my nails and eyebrows there. However, it wasn't worth going into that environment or contributing to their income due to several things. I went within the last month or so just as a quick regular manicure fix as I was in the area. Back then the A/C was rarely on and when it's hot outside and packed inside you are uncomfortable and the fumes are worse. Every time I went in there 98% of them are on their phone WHILE doing a service on someone! How is that even close to being professional??? I'm not paying you to chat with your friend! Getting up mid stroke of putting nail polish on my toe to get your phone is horrible!!! I've gone to school for nails and knew right then my color would not be solid and smooth looking. I manage a salon and we have to lock our phones in a locker to avoid this from happening. Clients are PAYING hard earned money to be there. No care in the world from the manager as yes I complained back then. My recent experience was no different. In fact it was worse. Now people just eat upfront and at their "sanitary" station?? I came in wanting to take my old nails off & get a new full set because it was time for new nails & the girl that was in charge of taking my nails off didn't have her license. She didn't know how to hold a drill & kept asking for help from the last nearby.
