I have always thought it would be great to get a pedi while my kiddo has basketball practice from 7:30-9 but because it's so late I usually can't find a nearby place. This time, I was in luck! Mitchell Nails is about a mile away from their practice and they're open until 8. I called ahead and asked if they'd take a pedi at 7:30 and she quickly said yes! I pull up about 7:20, and I have to admit, wasn't sure about it. It's in small strip mall next to a gas station. And inside the nail salon looks a little dated. But as soon as I walked in I was greeted with smiles and friendliness. They had several others there already but got me in right away. I got a basic pedi - I picked my color and I wasn't trying to be upsold on gel or designs or anything. She took her time as she cleaned my nails and massaged my feet. And to my amazement, my total was only $40! I feel like that's the lowest prices I've seen for a pedi in so many years!! My pedi was done at about 8:10, she sat me at the dryer to let them dry quicker and they didn't rush me out at all. I sat at the dryer for 15 mins, and I was like am I good to go? She's like yea, it should be dry by now, but you can sit there til your kid is done with practice! I was like oh no, I'm sure you want to go home! And they kept saying, it's fine it's fine! My Mom and I decided to try this place after reading the reviews. We were both excited for a little pamper session yet we should've known it wasn't going to go as we'd hope when one person said they had time for a mani/pedi and another said no but then worked to fit us in. Being "fit in" has always brought a poor experience and this was no different. We started with our pedicures. The same person did both mine and my mom's pedicure which meant one of us had to sit and wait but more importantly parts of pedicures were either skipped or cut short. The massage is the best part and it maybe lasted 90 seconds on each foot. The pedicures were a fancy polish change at best. :( When it came to our nails - although both our nails turned out ok it was a slow painful process. I'm particular when it comes to the shape and ensuring my cuticles get trimmed well because they grow fast. I attempted to say something to the person doing my nails about this and she informed me she knows how to do nails and cut cuticles. After that the only time I talked to her was to request to fix corners of 5 or so nails and to just cut a nail that was broken that she was trying to preserve. For my mom the tech filed her nails way shorter than she prefers and was slow with each step. Again I wanted to like this place as I could then have another place to go but unfortunately I have no plans to return. This was horrible I've had alot of pedicures and this was the worst!! Made an appointment at 530pm. Walk in and she says I have to be somewhere tonight. Why did you schedule my appt then??? So she says sit down. Sat down the tray had crumbs on it! Not cleaned! So she asked what color. I picked a color and she says ok no massage today next time!! What?? That's what I love! She was rude on the phone her friend comes in and she helps her with her nails said nothing to me. Walks away!! Unprofessional! And not cheap or comparable to others. The worse part is days later my feet get infected under my 2 nails! Never has that ever happened and I have no nail issues! Now I have to wait til they heal to go somewhere else! The only reason I can 1 star is because the color of the polish was pretty! Not one other thing was nice or professional! So never again will I go there or recommend anyone I know go there! My toenails were cut super short and painted really poorly, several toes are half polished. I thought about going back but it's not like they can stick my nails back on. I really wanted to like this place and give a higher rating, but I just can't. First off, I'll say that that the salon looks clean and is decorated nicely. Everyone there was very nice, the lady that worked on me was gentle and I could tell she wanted to give me what I wanted. The problem is that it just wasn't possible. I like to have the nail dip powder over anything else, this salon has only a dozen colours and the staff has no clue what they're doing. Which is normally fine, everyone has to start somewhere, but they were not using the product appropriately. I've had this done enough I know how it goes. Also, after paying $55 for this I have misshapen nails, they feel rough on top, there's a bump on my thumb where a glob of top coat was left to dry while they took care of a crusted brush (that happened from not applying the product in the correct steps). Will not be going back, sorry. read more

Wish I would've read these reviews before going in and having gel acrylics put on... I was so unimpressed with the staff and my overall experience there. I've had many nail appointments at other businesses around the Lakeville and Apple Valley area, and none have ever come remotely close to this one. I walked in 10 minutes early to pick out my color, but instead of letting me choose a color that I would like... I was rushed to get in the chair and he immediately started filing my nails. As I was trying to look through the colors (only using one hand) the guy was rushing me like crazy so I just went with one. I asked him 3 different times to file my nails a certain way/touch up spots I noticed I didn't like... but no, that was too much for him, and in the end "it would look good and be fine..." I got told "no" at least 3 times. To add onto that I could tell they were talking about me because 2 separate employees came up to talk to me about my nails and how they do them there. Which, unless they were talking about me, how would they know I wasn't impress with my experience so far? Pretty rude if you ask me. After he was done painting my nails, he quickly rubbed on some lotion for 10 seconds, and said "done." Didn't even ask me if I like my nails??? Didn't ask me if there was anything else I needed??? Just said "$40." I handed him my money and was rushed out the door. My appointment was at 3pm, and I was in my car on my way home at 3:25pm... never have I ever had an experience be that short. Once I got home, I looked at my nails in more depth (because god forbid I do it there) to find glue covering all of my fingertips, clumps of hard acrylic under my nail, little bubbles on my nails (most likely because he was rushing), and rough edges because the filing was rushed. I wish I could say I'll be back to give it a second try, but there is no possible way I will ever step foot into that place again. Worst experience I've ever had. My friend had recommended them because she said she went once and it was great. However, we both went together last week and the experience was absolutely terrible. My nails were cut so short, the tech had made me bleed several times. This was supposed to be a fun and relaxing experience but the tech also talked to me about politics. My manicure and pedicure were supposed to match but after starting my manicure I saw they were definitely not the same color. I mentioned it and they said they don't have a matching color in gel.... after we already had two layers of a different color on my nails. They rushed us and skipped steps and said they had to because it was busy... then why let us make an appointment? My nails also got stained from my makeup and even using make up remover I haven't been able to get the make up off my nails. I wanted a pedicure so I stopped in and they had some availability. While the polish was great and the chair super comfortable, there tech didn't even put moisturizer on my feet. Massaged my legs, which was fine, but not my feet (which is kinda one of the main points of a pedicure). I don't think I'll be going back. read more

It wasn't the worst nor was it the best manicure I've ever had. Good massage, nice and new business. I didn't care for the way my nail shaping was done.Seems like filing and shaping should be done by filing and shaping with an emory board rather then just cutting the sides of the nails at angles to create the shape. This salon used to be amazing and I am extremely disappointed with my last few visits. I fell in love with the owner and her story just opening her own shop and decided to continue to come back to support her and her family. She had steady employees who were wonderful and did a great and thorough job. In the past 6 months she has lost all of her regular staff and the service has gone downhill. My manicures and pedicures used to take a full hour and were very relaxing. The last pedicure I had lasted a quick 20 min, nothing was asked as far as how long/short I wanted anything cut, my heels were not pumiced, and the polish job was so quick I wasn't even sure if she was watching what she was doing. She then rushed to another client before she was done polishing and a few minutes later a man sat down and put my too coat on. There was no thank you (like there always used to be) and it was goodbye. I thought I would be done at that point but decided to give them another try. Went in again for a gel manicure that last 30 minutes and was slapped on the hand when she was done. Again, she didn't even ask what shape I wanted my nails filed, she was annoyed that I wanted a second coat (which would have just been done before without asking), she asked me a personal financial question and boom I was done. Again no thank you for paying or tipping and no goodbye on the way out. This place now seems like they ate more about getting people in and out than establishing the relationships they had built. The new employees are rude and work way too fast. I also over heard the owner telling another staff member to give a "quick pedicure".
