The unpleasant surprise came when she was getting ready to apply nail polish, but some of my nails were not cut properly to the point that it would've made a whole in socks. I politely asked to address it when I noticed that the rest of the nails were hardly cleaned and cuticles still there. I asked if she is planning on cleaning the nails and remove the cuticles properly. The answer was no as I selected the express service which means 20 minutes. I attached the description of the express service- nowhere it says 20 minutes or the fact that job will be half way done. I questioned the price to value ration since $40 for 20 min means $120/hour and I know college graduates and nurses who don't make $120/h. When I checked out, I was told that if I pay with card is $4 more. This is another way to make money as the card fee is 3% for in person charge which is $1.2. I paid cash, but have not received a receipt. The disappointment was doubled when I learned that she was the owner of the nail salon.

She fixed it enough that it wasn't a major issue, but it didn't leave me feeling very confident. She also spent time writing things down and handling cash during my appointment, and the total unexpectedly changed from $53 to $55 at the end without any explanation. I had enough money with me but I thought that was a little weird. The staff was friendly, and I liked the atmosphere, but the attention to detail just wasn't there.
